Hi.

I'm having issues completing my registration online for the UNILAG PG Admissions. The site keeps telling me "Runtime Error".

Is anyone else with this problem, and what do I do to fix it?

Thanks.

Literature / An Anthology Of Creative Writing Lending Voice To Serving Corps Members. :-) by BillyRubin: 3:40pm On Mar 15, 2013
For National Youth Service Corps Members Only

It was as I walked past some excited Corps members practicing some exotic dance steps that the idea occurred to me. What better way for Corps members to chronicle their experiences and impressions than through one of the oldest form of art known to civilised man?

This is the maiden edition of this anthology and we plan to make it continuous. We would like a representation of and from every state with these three basic genres; Poetry, Fiction and Non-Fiction. We expect thought provoking work from all writers as only these will be considered.

Only serving corps members are eligible to send in their works (2012-A, 2012-B, 2012-C and 2013-A are the eligible Batches).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Poems: Submit up to 3 poems of 30 lines or less, or a long poem of up to 60 lines.
Fiction: Submit Short Stories up to 2000 words long.
Creative Non Fiction: Maximum word count- 2000

All materials must be in English Language, we may however accept poems written in Nigerian languages provided appropriate translations are attached.

Entries should be sent to newthinkingz@yahoo.com Full name, state of origin, higher institution attended, call up number, state code, contact phone number, e mail and other necessary information must be included.

Contributors should paste the genre they have written on in the subject box with the main work and title pasted in the body of the mail…no attachments please.

Entry Closes: April 2, 2013.

Proposed Release Date¬— September 9, 2013

Contributors will stand to gain a lot from getting visibility for their works to getting a little token for their effort AFTER the anthology must have brought in profit.

Owners of works chosen by our panel of judges will be contacted for further editing and bio by our editors.

Due to various problems associated with paperback, we have at present decided to stick with only an electronic version of the book -e book- once it is done. However, we may still put out the paperback in the future.

We would also expect contributors to be active in promoting the book once it is out online too.

Remember, there is a writer, an activist, a peace maker in all of us. These written pieces might even be brought to bear on individuals on whom decision making lies.

Roll out your pen and start scribbling away.

Politics / Re: "ojukwu Is A Great Man,he Died But His Manhood Lives On" ~dame Patience. by BillyRubin: 11:03pm On Sep 12, 2012
strangest: It is very unfortunate that a lot of people in Nigeria claims to be the best when it comes to English. You all that are laughing at the First lady has ended up showing your stupidity. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the statement. You guys need to check your dictionary for the definition of "Manhood" before you start writing nonsense and PLEASE STOP showing your stupidity just because you think you are better than her.

man·hood (mnhd)
n.
1. The state or time of being an adult male human.
2. The composite of qualities, such as courage, determination, and vigor, often thought to be appropriate to a man.
3. Adult males considered as a group; men.
4. The state of being human.

Manhood is also a slang word for pen.is

Let me not talk too much, but, language, like many things, is not exactly the same thing on paper and practice. One has to be mindful of USAGE, especially as it applies to the times in which one is speaking. You are correct, but the Dame could have used a less complicated word! So, get your nose outta that lexicon abeg, and laugh with us!
TV/Movies / Re: Emem Isong's Kiss And Tell Premiere by BillyRubin: 9:55pm On Jul 24, 2012
The storyline is an overflogged one.

Emem Isong does good films, but my problem with her works is that they sound too Americannish, cut off from what obtains here in Naija. I mean, who answers Delphine here? She's fond of such exotic names and plots.

Sha, different tastes I guess.

Literature / Re: Nora Roberts Or Daniele Steele? Who Is Better? R They Worth Reading? by BillyRubin: 10:28pm On Jul 05, 2012
I've read more Steele and only one Roberts. I'd pick Steele. I'm not sure she's always depressing though I've read just six of her works. I read one of her novellas about an old man and old woman who were inlaws and fell in love. Very funny story. But I like her kinda stories.

However, since both women do churn out books almost yearly, it's likely their stories would be recycled. The bane of American pop fiction.
Literature / Re: The Male Madness: A Short Story Please Criticize by BillyRubin: 10:17pm On Jul 05, 2012
Nice story, but it needs work. Some of the backstory was distracting and some of the beautiful pictures you started to paint went unfinished. Plus, you switched your tenses. Still a fine tale though. Well done
Literature / Re: 7 Containers Of Pirated Books Seized At Apapa by BillyRubin: 8:36pm On Jul 05, 2012
Billyonaire: I like to think outside the box here, the "pirated" books should be distributed free of charge to students. I dont see anything wrong in sharing this, pirated or not, its gonna make someone more knowledgeable.

I like your line of thought, Billyonaire. At least, the students gain knowledge and the pirates lose money.
