@ Post
You can never go wrong with buying and selling so long you treat/practice the law of demand and supply with maximum care.
If you don't have any idea your best bet is to save the money in the bank as TKB (who works in an investment coy and probably be the best to advice you on how best to maximise return on initial investment) suggested.
lol, very funny. all i can say is ' d more u knw the more there is to knw' so just maybe u dont knw much about fx dan u think u knw!!!!
BusinessRe: How Do I Invest N1 Million? by bily(m): 10:11am On Jun 24, 2009
really i dont understand why so many people beliv forex is very risky.

i think the reason is because pple find something outside of themselves to blame for their failures, dats y a lot of pple dat have delved into it n got burnt are the ones propagating these lies.

dont get me i wrong, i have also been burnt n i still gat some setbaks due to my venture into fxtrading, but i neva for once blamed it on it being to risky or it being a scam.

my major downfall had been due to greed n indiscipline, simple.

now let me burst ya bubbles: do u knw dat forex trading is about d only biz u can predetermine your risk before u venture into it? so tell me wat is so risky about a biz, u can determine wat u r willing to loose before u even set up a trade

for example if i have a million naira, i can decide before seting up a trade dat its only a max of 1% or even 0.5% of dat money i wanna loose on a trade, so dat determines d size of my trade. now tell me wats so risky about loosing 1% of 1m. whereas most other biz, u just go into it n hope nothing goes wrong.

mastering fx takes time, n ive had my share of ups n downs, bt things are certainly looking brighter

u knw i once read an article dat it takes about 3year to be a succesful fx trader n i laughed at d article dat it wont apply to me, guess wat ! this is my 3rd year n i can now c d words of wisdom in it!!! especially if u r like me n learn d ropes all by yaself without a personal mentor, and pleeease, i dont mean all those yeye half baked seminars pple organise everywhere.

d major problem is with fx is not dat its risky or whateva, its simple human psychological problems. i always tel pple if u think u r a disciplined n hav a good graps of ya emotions, dem come n trade fx, it will redifine discipline for u.

d long n short of it is if u can master fx, u generally become a better person.

for naijas out there dat hav d courage u r welcome, but dont give up easily, start small n keep at it. one day like me, u will begin to c d light at d end of d tunnel, and remember, always take sole responsiblity n blame for ya short comings, dont blame anyone else or any process.

@ poster, i hope u find something useful to do with ya dough, n i hope u gain some insight from all d comments made here, peace to all

name any biz

@

its brave of you wanting to launch out on your own, but i must warn u, the investing comes with his own set of challanges though, but in the long run its worth it.

1m naira is a good sum of money, since you asked for advice let me give u mine:

1. wateva it is you wanna invest in, please start small. probably not more than half of the capital in question (1m) so if something goes wrong, u can always have something to fall bak on.

2. dont put all ya eggs in one basket, sometimes wen just starting out u need to try several small things which may help you. multiple streams of income is the 'word' here.

3. this is a public forum n most of us have had experience of being duped before on public forum such as these. so b careful of giving actual cash to anyone from this forum.

out of the various biz/investments im involved in, i think forex is the one i can recommend to you due to the following reasons:

1. you can start small, as low as $1k (about 170k naira) although d more d merrier but starting small with a new biz is more sensible. so you still have the bulk of your money to do other investments

2. you dont have to give your cash to anyone, if you are interested, i can help you setup an account with a broker through your bank, no third party involved, dat way you dont pay into my account or give me any money. once i guide you into setting up the account and the account is ready, i can help you to make the trade calls and we split the profit after you make a withdrawal.

3. it wont take long before you know if the biz is profitable or not. if after 1month you dont like returns you get, you can quickly liquidate your investment and move on. so you are not stuck with a fixed asset you may not need anymore

4. forex is recession proof bizness. global meltdown cannot affect forex trading biz

hope this helps. u can reach me on 07026785884

Bily,

Thanks so much for your advice. Greatly appreciated!
That's what I'm doing just now. I'm at starcomms website
and I came across two USB modems called;

1. Starcomms iZAP USB Ovation MC 727 and
2. Epivalley iZAP REV A 7089 USB MODEM

Which between these two do you guys think I sh'ld go for?
I've heard you guys mention several times about Rev A. Does
that have anything to do with the internet download speed?

Becos as you can see above the Epivalley Modem has Rev A written
in the middle, so does that mean it's better or,

So what do you guys thinkhuh More suggestions welcome, please.

Cheers.
if they have the ovation go for it, i think its manufactured by novatel so it should definately b betta dan d 'chinco' pple epivalley, just like d sierra cards are beta dan d epivalley cards

they all support revision a

Guys, can i replace starcomms 580 datacard with zain or mtn's datacardhuh

is it advisable and how good is these 2 cards??
mayb the right question is which is best connection for you amongst the 3 networks? but unfortunately, currently there is no right or wrong answer. d answer may not b in black n white

but first things first,
for starcomms make sure u have evdo signal in your area, for mtn and zain, make sure u have 3g signal in your area
mtn has download limits so if u are a heavy internet user, it may not suit u. i dont knw if zain has download limits but starcomms has no download limits which is the major attraction for most of us

wat u may do is buy starcomms evdo n wen starcomm decides to fumble n u really need to use the internet, u can use your phone with mtn sim to pay to browse for a day provided u have 3g signal in your area.

hope this helps

I don't have a laptop yet and I'm using a desktop and based in Somolu, Lagos. I'm thinking of switching over to Izap Broadband. I know if I go to their office at Surulere, they may not tell me the truth. But what I really want to know is, if I get the starcomms evdo 3g seira datacard, and I configure it with my PC (with the help of my engineer) will I be able to get the same internet download speeds you guys are getting?

I'd also like to know if there's anyone in the house who wants to sell his starcomms evdo 3g seira datacard, to please call this no. 08056456403 so we can meet and shed some light on how to connect the datacard to my PC and other stuff.

If you're not a honest and straightforward person, please do not bother call.

Cheers All,
why not just take the easy way out and buy the izap usb device, im sure your pc shld have a usb port

otherwise you will need to look for a pccard to usb adapter and im not sure how readily available that is here, so even if u can get the adapter i doubt it will be cheap. hope this helps u[/quote]

Thanks.
very simple if you are using windows vista, its possible with windows xp too but i have forgotten the interface been long since i touched xp, lol

but first i need to know wat interface your internet link is using. if its using your lan, u will need to bind/bridge it with your wlan.

it will b difficult to explain without pics, so let me knw if u r using vista so i can give u pics. i dont want to endup uploading vista pics which wont b relevant if u r using xp

starcomms evdo service has been very terrible nowadays. i switched from visafone because they were connected to nitel sat3 as bakbone n anytime nitel had a problem visafone too has

i was using starcomms n enjoying it cos nitel sat3 seems not to be affecting them so i tot until recently.

i called customer care n i was told that they were mandated to hook up to nitel too. so dats why we have been experiencing such inconsistency. i dnt knw how authentic this info is. but dat makes starcomms no longer different from all the others like visafone, ipnx, etc dat are hooked up to nitel.

how on earth will regulatory bodies force them to use the national bakbone, i realy dont want to believe that, mayb they are just trying to cut cost.

i wonder wen we go get cheap and affordable broadband for this naija dats consistent

what do u mean by down time, do u mean u can't browse at all or that its just a bit slower
just so i can compare it to starcomms for u

yes, i mean u wont be able to browse at all. but wen u r browsing, the speed is always constant. so apart frm the 3gig limit, the problem with mtn is it can work today n decide not to work tomorrow. person go need prayer n fasting for am grin

according to the article in the link below, i dont think it does really matter wat device u guyz are using for d starcomms

@bily. for your purpose MTN, starcomms are good. MTN is consistent and offers better and reliable connection speed through out the day.
and yes i read ya post again, mayb i truly do not understand english wink no b my fault i no go school na. so i guess your definition of consisten and reliable is different frm mine. i have mtn 3g n i use it. as for me, its not consistent. when its on its on and fast. but at times, it will b down for hours during the day. its kinda unpredictable

all im asking for is advice on the predicatablity of the starcomms izap. i just need something i can b sure wen i want to use it, its available dat all. no fight ok. wink

mtn is the fastest and the MOST UNRELIABLE internet i have ever used. i have it at home and use it personally so its far from consistent grin

if this mtn is your definition of consistency and u say starcomms evdo is consitent, i may have to run fast from starcomms grin
ComputersRe: Starcomms Izap - Is It Really Fast As Starcomms Claim? by bily(m): 2:18pm On Dec 06, 2008
i must confess im impressed with some of the results u guyz are getting, but obviously the result is not uniform. i guess it all boils down to what we need the internet for.

as for me, if i clock 1mb/s good, but if i dont, no sweat as long as its reasonable fast.

so for all u izap users out there, my major concern is the consistency cos im into online trading. so my question is:

how often does izap disconnect?
if it does disconnect, does it get connected back immediately n u dont even miss it?
how often do they have technical issues.

pls i need ya response, cos i have used visafone evdo, dopc unwired, multilinks 1x, mtn 3g n the consistency i need is not there

mtn is d fastest i have used though but i hate d 3gig limit n d fact dat u cant predict when it will work, visafone is ok but usually on n off especially when nitel sat3 cable is having problems, dopc on and off frequently too.
