ProgrammingWe Built An App That Lets You Send Money Via Bluetooth — Even Without Network by binoosmart(op): 12:30am On Nov 29, 2025
Hello Nairalanders,

I want to introduce something we’ve been building for a long time — and I strongly believe it will change the way Nigerians send and receive money.

We all know how frustrating banking apps can be:
– “Network error.”
– “Transaction failed.”
– “Try again later.”
– USSD not loading.
– Internet issues, especially in crowded places or remote areas.

What if sending money didn’t depend on network or USSD?
What if transferring funds was as simple and instant as sending a file via Bluetooth?

That’s exactly what we built.

Introducing Runteller — Send & Receive Money With or Without Network

Runteller is a new mobile payment app designed for real Nigerian conditions.
It allows you to send and receive money using multiple technologies, including:

Bluetooth (Yes, real offline transfers)
Peer-to-peer device connection
Regular online transfer when network is available
Fallback systems that work even when USSD fails

This means your money can move anytime, anywhere, even if the internet or bank network is misbehaving.

The Goal

We’re building Runteller to solve a Nigerian problem with a Nigerian solution:
Unstable network should never stop your money.

If you’ve ever been stranded because “transfer never drop,” then you already understand the problem we are solving.

Try It Out

Runteller is available on both Android and iPhone:

📌 Android (Playstore): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runteller.app.main
📌 iPhone (App Store): https://apps.apple.com/ng/app/runteller/id6751495859

PoliticsNo Excuses: Why Nigerians Still Aren’t Forgiving Late Buhari. by binoosmart(op): 1:24pm On Jul 14, 2025
The passing of any public figure often ushers in a period of reflection, and for former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, his death has reignited debates about his legacy. While some advocate for forgiveness in the wake of his demise, a significant portion of the populace continues to hold him accountable for the challenges faced during his tenure. This isn’t about disrespecting the dead; it’s about establishing a crucial precedent for leadership and governance in Nigeria.

The argument that Buhari should be “forgiven” because he’s no longer with us often clashes with the deeply held belief that leaders, regardless of their earthly status, will ultimately account for their stewardship. Indeed, the very essence of leadership, particularly in a democracy, is the implicit contract between the leader and the led. When that trust is perceived to be broken, the demand for accountability doesn’t simply vanish with a leader’s passing.

The Promises of Change and the Weight of Expectations
Buhari’s journey to the presidency was marked by persistence, culminating in a victory during a period when Nigerians yearned for a departure from the status quo under the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration. The clamor for “change” was palpable, and Nigerians, perhaps overly optimistic, invested their hopes in a leader who had, for so long, been a symbol of integrity and discipline.

However, some now reflect on whether the initial trust placed in him, particularly given concerns about his educational background versus that of his predecessor, was misplaced. This isn’t an indictment of individuals, but a critical look at the electorate’s role in choosing its leaders and the criteria it prioritizes.

The Unforgiving Reality of Leadership
It’s difficult to fault Nigerians for their continued scrutiny. When a leader’s administration concludes with the nation seemingly worse off, and that leader ultimately seeks medical solace abroad rather than investing in the very healthcare system they presided over, it inevitably fuels public disillusionment.

The expectation is that leaders should prioritize and build up their own nation’s institutions, creating a robust system that serves all citizens, including themselves. The perceived failure to do so often leaves a bitter taste and reinforces the sentiment that accountability was sidestepped.

Democracy Demands Responsibility, Not Entitlement
Being president is a profound responsibility, not an inherited right. In a democratic system like Nigeria’s, public office is a trust, not a birthright. When a leader demonstrably fails to improve the lives of their constituents, the honorable path, in many mature democracies, is resignation.

The idea that a leader must cling to power, even when the country is visibly struggling under their watch, runs counter to democratic principles. After eight years, if the nation’s condition has deteriorated, the onus is on the leader to acknowledge shortcomings and, if necessary, pave the way for more competent leadership. The refusal to do so, for many, is a significant part of why the blame persists.

A Lesson for Future Leaders
Ultimately, the continued focus on Buhari’s legacy, even after his death, serves as a potent reminder for all politicians and public servants: death does not absolve leaders of their responsibilities. While forgiveness is a noble human trait, it should not overshadow the fundamental need for accountability in governance.

For Nigeria to progress, its leaders must understand that their actions, or inactions, will be scrutinized and judged, not just in their lifetime, but potentially for generations to come. This ongoing demand for accountability is not an act of malice; it is a critical step towards building a better Nigeria where leadership is truly about service, responsibility, and tangible progress.

May his soul rest in peace…

What are your thoughts on the delicate balance between forgiveness and accountability for leaders, especially after they’ve passed on?

ProgrammingVibe Coding Vs. Traditional Software Development In 2025 by binoosmart(op): 1:41pm On Apr 16, 2025
What is Vibe Coding?

Vibe coding represents a novel approach where developers interact with artificial intelligence (AI) tools to generate software through natural language prompts, rather than manually writing code. Coined by computer scientist Andrej Karpathy, vibe coding allows individuals to describe their desired application in plain English, enabling AI systems to produce functional code. This method emphasizes rapid prototyping and creative problem-solving over meticulous coding syntax and architecture.

Top 10 Best AI Website Builders in 2025

The Rise of AI-Driven Development

The integration of AI into software development is not a mere trend but a significant shift. By 2025, it’s projected that 80% of the software development lifecycle will involve generative AI code generation, enhancing developer productivity by up to 75% . Tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude by Anthropic exemplify this change, enabling developers to focus more on high-level design and less on repetitive coding tasks.

Traditional Coding: Precision and Control

Despite the allure of AI-assisted development, traditional coding remains vital. It involves a deep understanding of programming languages, system architecture, and debugging processes. Traditional developers are responsible for writing, testing, and optimizing code, ensuring software reliability and performance. This meticulous approach is crucial for complex systems where precision and control are paramount.

Complementary or Converging?

Rather than replacing traditional coding, vibe coding complements it by streamlining certain aspects of development. AI tools can handle repetitive tasks, allowing developers to concentrate on more complex and creative challenges. However, human oversight remains essential to address issues like security, ethical considerations, and nuanced problem-solving that AI may not fully comprehend.

The Future Outlook

Looking ahead, the future of software development is likely to be a hybrid model that leverages both AI-driven tools and traditional coding expertise. Developers will need to adapt by acquiring skills in prompt engineering and AI tool integration, while maintaining a strong foundation in core programming principles. This balanced approach will enable the creation of innovative and reliable software solutions.

PropertiesCost And Steps On How To Get A Certificate Of Occupancy In Abuja. by binoosmart(op): 4:56am On Aug 12, 2024
What is Certificate of Occupancy?
A Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) is a critical document in Nigeria that legally certifies ownership of a piece of land or property. In Abuja, obtaining this document is essential for securing your investment and protecting against potential government claims or legal disputes. Below is a detailed guide on the cost, steps, and importance of obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy in Abuja as of 2024.

Importance of a Certificate of Occupancy

1. Legal Proof of Ownership: The C of O is the primary legal document that proves ownership of land or property in Nigeria. Without it, your claim to the land is vulnerable to disputes or government revocation.

2. Increased Property Value: Properties with a valid C of O are typically more valuable and can be sold or transferred more easily. Buyers are often more willing to invest in properties with clear and legally recognized ownership.

3. Collateral for Loans: Banks and financial institutions in Nigeria often require a C of O as collateral for granting loans. Without this document, securing financing can be challenging.

4. Protection Against Government Repossession: The Nigerian government can reclaim land for public use, but with a C of O, the landowner is entitled to compensation, which is not the case for those without one.

5. Peace of Mind: Owning land without a C of O leaves you at risk of losing your property without compensation. Having this document ensures your rights are protected under the law.

PoliticsKogi Government Denies Allegations Of Rebagging And Selling Rice Palliative by binoosmart(op): 4:23pm On Jul 28, 2024
The Kogi State Government has firmly denied allegations circulating in a recent video, claiming that rice palliatives distributed to citizens are being rebagged and sold in the market. The government asserts that these claims are misleading and entirely unfounded.

Key Points of the Government’s Statement:
Clear Branding: The rice palliatives are distinctly branded and marked with “Not for Sale” to prevent any misuse.
Monitoring Systems: Dedicated monitoring teams are in place to ensure that the distribution process is conducted properly and transparently.
The state government has conducted a thorough investigation into these claims and found no evidence to support them. The palliatives were distributed over a month ago, prior to Sallah, and numerous beneficiaries have confirmed receipt and expressed their gratitude to His Excellency.

The government emphasizes that these false claims are likely intended to undermine their efforts to support citizens. They urge the public to be wary of misinformation and to verify any news through credible sources.

The government, under His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, maintains a zero-tolerance policy against the diversion of public resources, especially those intended for the indigent and underprivileged. The administration is committed to monitoring and addressing any misinformation that threatens to undermine their initiatives.

InvestmentThe Dangote Refinery: Is Institutional Sabotage At Play? by binoosmart(op): 7:09am On Jul 27, 2024
Recent hurdles faced by the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria have sparked concerns about the role of government institutions in supporting local entrepreneurship. Instead of creating a favorable business climate, these institutions seem to be obstructing initiatives that have the potential to boost economic growth.

Aliko Dangote’s refinery project, which stands as a testament to Nigerian innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of oil daily. This capability could render Nigeria self-sufficient in petroleum products and generate thousands of jobs, significantly alleviating youth unemployment.

Despite these promising prospects, the Dangote Refinery is encountering substantial obstacles, not from external sources, but from domestic institutions that are supposed to foster and protect local enterprises. The lack of institutional support raises suspicions of sabotage, suggesting that individual interests might be overshadowing the nation’s economic progress.

The consequences of such sabotage are significant. Should the Dangote Refinery project falter, it could discourage both domestic and international investors from participating in Nigeria’s economy. Furthermore, the potential loss of numerous job opportunities for young Nigerians could exacerbate poverty and unemployment.

For Nigeria to realize its economic potential, it is crucial for government institutions to support entrepreneurs like Aliko Dangote. By offering the necessary backing and cultivating a business-friendly environment, the government can harness the full potential of local entrepreneurship, paving the way for a prosperous future.

In summary, the Dangote Refinery is a beacon of Nigerian pride and a symbol of hope for the country’s youth. The government needs to reevaluate its stance on such projects and extend the needed support to ensure their success. The future prosperity of Nigeria and the welfare of its citizens are at stake.

PoliticsThe Corruption Yahaya Bello Tried To Eliminate In Kogi State by binoosmart(op): 11:40am On Jun 12, 2024
If you have lived in Okene or any part of Kogi State you can relate to this, their were some group of people that were the Odogwus in the community back then, all you hear is that they work in the Local Government, but they are always at home, they lost their jobs and stream of incomes when Yahaya Bello became the Governor of Kogi State. BELOW is what really happened.

Before Yahaya Bello became the Governor of Kogi State, corruption was rampant, particularly in the area of employment. Local and state government officials would promise jobs to community members, often requesting their credentials and sometimes even demanding payment for these supposed employment opportunities (Buying and Selling of Employment Slots). However, these promises were rarely fulfilled, and the applicants would never hear back.

What many people didn’t realize was that these jobs were indeed being created, but not for the applicants. Instead, the officials would use the collected credentials to create ghost workers—individuals who were officially on the payroll but did not actually work. These ghost workers’ salaries were then collected by the corrupt officials.

When Yahaya Bello took office, he recognized the depth of this corruption. To address it, he initiated a comprehensive screening exercise aimed at identifying and eliminating ghost workers. This effort uncovered numerous individuals who were receiving salaries without proper qualifications or any actual work.

Some of these corrupt individuals were found to be collecting multiple salaries each month, exacerbating the financial drain on the state.

The problem in Kogi State was twofold: it stemmed both from greedy individuals exploiting the system through ghost employment and from the government’s own embezzlement of state funds. Governor Bello’s efforts were a crucial step towards tackling this deeply rooted corruption.

The most people that were actually against Yahaya Bello back then, were one way or the other benefiting from the scheme.

How much are you proposing??

PoliticsThe Nigeria Minimum Wage Crisis (how I Will Resolve The Issue If I’m The Preside by binoosmart(op):
The ongoing debate over Nigeria’s minimum wage has reached a critical juncture, with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) pushing for a substantial increase to 400,000+ Naira. While the call for higher wages is rooted in the dire economic conditions faced by many Nigerians, this proposal raises significant concerns about its feasibility and the broader economic implications. Imagine what will happen to the private sector on the get go, businesses will fold!.

The Nigeria Economic Reality.

Nigeria’s economy is currently facing numerous challenges, including high inflation, unemployment, and a weak Naira. These factors have eroded the purchasing power of the average Nigerian, making it increasingly difficult for workers to make ends meet. In this context, the current minimum wage of 30,000 Naira is woefully inadequate. However, the proposition of raising it to 400,000+ Naira, though well-intentioned, will not be the silver bullet that solves the problem.

Inflationary Pressures

One major concern with such a substantial wage increase is the potential for runaway inflation. If the minimum wage is raised to 400,000+ Naira, businesses would face significantly higher labor costs. Many would likely pass these costs onto consumers, leading to a sharp increase in the prices of goods and services. For instance, an item that currently costs 500 Naira could surge to 5,000 Naira, nullifying any benefit of the wage increase and further straining household budgets.

Tax Implications

Additionally, a higher minimum wage would push many workers into higher tax brackets. For civil servants, a 400,000 Naira salary might be subjected to a 30% income tax. This tax burden would diminish their take-home pay, again mitigating the intended benefits of the wage hike.

How I will Resolve The Issue If I Am The President.

So, what is the best path forward? The solution lies in a multi-faceted approach that addresses both immediate and long-term economic challenges.

1. Reforming the Judiciary: Nigeria’s judiciary system requires serious reform. Currently, the system disproportionately targets the poor and the weak, while the rich and powerful often evade justice. The police force operates largely for the highest bidder, and the courts rarely hold the affluent accountable. Reforming the judiciary to ensure fairness and equality under the law is essential for building trust and ensuring that economic policies are effectively implemented.

2. Gradual Wage Increases: Rather than a sudden leap to 400,000 Naira, a more gradual increase in the minimum wage could help mitigate inflationary pressures. Incremental raises would allow businesses and the economy to adjust over time, reducing the risk of sharp price increases, we all know for sure what happened when the president gave his first speech about removing subsidy. This time it’ll be worse.

3. Economic Reforms: The government should focus on structural reforms to strengthen the economy. This includes improving infrastructure, enhancing education and vocational training, and creating a more business-friendly environment to attract investment and spur job creation.

4. Boosting Productivity: Enhancing worker productivity is key. Investment in technology and training can help workers become more efficient, justifying higher wages and contributing to economic growth.

5. Targeted Social Programs: To support those most in need, the government can implement targeted social programs. Subsidies for essential goods and services, housing assistance, and healthcare support can help alleviate the financial burden on low-income families.

6. Strengthening the Naira: Addressing the root causes of the Naira’s weakness is essential. This includes managing inflation, reducing dependence on imports, and boosting exports. A stronger Naira would improve the purchasing power of all Nigerians,

7. Inclusive Dialogue: Continuous dialogue between the government, Labour Congress, and other stakeholders is crucial. An inclusive approach ensures that policies are well-rounded and consider the perspectives of all parties involved.

My Final Thoughts.

Nigeria’s minimum wage debate underscores the complex interplay between workers’ needs and economic realities. While the call for higher wages is justified, an abrupt increase to 400,000 Naira could lead to unintended consequences that exacerbate the very issues it aims to resolve. A balanced, multi-pronged strategy that combines gradual wage increases with broader economic reforms, targeted social support, and judicial reform offers the most sustainable path forward. Through careful planning and collaborative effort, Nigeria can achieve a fair and livable wage for its workers without compromising economic stability.

I aspire to become the President of Nigeria one day and am confident in my ability to significantly improve the country, though I acknowledge that certain obstacles may arise from individuals who benefit from the current state of affairs. To begin my journey, I plan to first serve as the Governor of Kogi State, where I will initiate essential reforms to set a strong foundation for broader national progress.

PoliticsPolitical Foot Soldier Believes Kogi Workers Should Be Grateful For 80% Salary by binoosmart(op): 3:25pm On Mar 02, 2024
In Kogi State, there’s a troubling belief among some political figures that the hardworking state employees don’t deserve their full salaries. Recently, a person called Eja Nla, also known as Hajj Ciroma, shared on Facebook that paying workers only 80% of their salary should be enough, saying “When you show appreciation, they do more. May Ododo succeed.”

This attitude is unfair, especially considering the tough times in Kogi State. Many people are struggling, and every bit of their salary matters. It’s shocking to think that after all the hardships during the previous governor’s time, anyone would suggest that workers should be grateful for less than what they’re owed.

While regular folks are just trying to get by, some politicians are living in luxury, building big houses and driving fancy cars. This huge gap between the rich and the rest of us shows how broken things are.

We, the people of Nigeria, especially those in Kogi State, need to stand up and demand better treatment. The government should make it a priority to pay workers what they’re owed, without question.

Thinking that paying only part of someone’s salary is a favor shows how messed up things have become. We need to hold our leaders accountable, not just now, but for the wrongs of the past too. The authorities should investigate and punish anyone who’s cheated the people of Kogi State.

Let’s not accept crumbs when we deserve the whole loaf. It’s time to unite and demand fairness, respect, and justice for every worker in Kogi State. Only together can we make things right and build a brighter future for our state and our country.
