Politics / Kogi Dep Gov Will Emerge After Consultation With Lawyers, Party Leaders by binoosmart(m): 9:44pm On Feb 02, 2016
Mr Kingsley Fanwo, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, has said that his boss' deputy would emerge in due course after consultations with lawyers and the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Fanwo, who fielded questions on a live radio programme on Ray Power Radio, said the governor did not participate in the supplementary governorship poll on January 9, 2016 without a deputy governorship candidate.

"The governor will listen to the lawyers and the party. In due course, a deputy governor will emerge," he said when asked on what his boss would do since Mr John Faleke, the preferred deputy governor had refused to accept the nomination.

He dismissed the allegation by Faleke's media aide, Mr Duro Meseko, that the choice of Bello as a governorship candidate was wrong because he refused to work for the party after losing at the primary election.

He faulted the argument, saying Bello was instrumental to the success of the APC in Kogi state during the 2015 general elections.

He advised Faleke's aide to avoid sentiments while advancing his arguments, stating that Faleke too did not work for the party during the 2015 general

Romance / Eight Main Things Girls Do When They're Home All Alone. by binoosmart(m): 6:41pm On Jan 30, 2016
Please before freaking out about this article, because i know people will talk that how can a guy know what Girls are doing all by their self alone at home, well A girl reveal to me.

Let's face it, as collegiettes, we usually have to fight for our alone time (especially when we're at home on break). Once it finally happens, these stages are inevitable.
1. Come to the realization that you are, indeed, by yourself

Where's mom?
2. Blast some music and dance

After all, no one's watching!
3. Pants are no longer required

Who needs pants?
4. Pausing when you hear the dreaded door

This always happens when you hear a knock at the door.
5. Feeling Bored?

Then you check yourself out in the mirror!
6. Going with the pants thing...

It is acceptable to parade around in your underwear.
7. Stuffing food in your mouth because you can

No one around to judge you!
8. Take your talents to the shower

Ferris knows what's up.

Politics / 3-days In Office, Kogites Anxiously Waiting For Yahaya Bello’s Magic Wand by binoosmart(m): 6:21pm On Jan 30, 2016
The inauguration of Governor Yahaya Bello as Executive Governor of Kogi State was greeted with jubilation and great enthusiasm. The 25,000-seater Confluence Stadium was nearly filled up with Kogites who came from far and near to see the man of the moment, Yahaya Bello.

Few hours after the inauguration, our Gov. Bello reeled out the list of first political appointees; the Chief of Staff, Special Adviser on Media and the Chief Press Secretary. The appointments were applauded by many. After the appointments, the young Governor disappeared from the state and is yet to return. His directives on reinstatement of sacked LG Chairmen and dissolution of Boards were issues from Abuja. A governor-by-correspondence in the making?

Kogites are less concerned about the steps taken so far by our governor. A survey of opinions across the state capital suggests that the immediate expectations from the citizens are:

1. Payment of Salary. It is yet another month end and salaries are due. This is the first magic Kogites expect from their beloved governor. State government staff are being owed 4 months salaries now.

2. Hold meeting with labour leaders and get workers back to work. The industrial action embarked upon since last year by civil servants in the state has crippled the state's economy. If the Governor can get labour to call off the strike, annoying and life-endangering waste that litters the streets of Lokoja will be cleared by officers of the State's Waste Management Office. Calling off the strike will hopefully put an end to the current water scarcity in town. Lokoja residents now move around like Mai-ruwas carrying buckets and jerry cans around wasting productive man-hours in the process.

3. Abolish JAC. The progressive Governor Bello is expected, as a matter of urgency (become him and his cronies get used to the ungodly goodies), abolish joint account with Local governments. This will ensure accountability, openess and probity in our grassroot governments.

Kogites are anxiously waiting for the new governor to start performing the long-awaited magic.

Crime / Mob Kill, Set Ablaze Three Suspected Robbers In Kogi by binoosmart(m): 12:51pm On Jan 30, 2016
Three suspected armed robbers were on Friday set ablaze at Orunu junction in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State by some youths.

According to him: "The villagers came out in their numbers and in the process seized their guns before crushing three of them to death with heavy stones, clubs and other dangerous weapons. Two of the armed robbers escaped into the bush while ‎three were burnt to ashes after they were given the beating of their lives".

Politics / Buhari, Osinbaji, Others To Grace Yahaya Bello’s Inauguration As Kogi Governor by binoosmart(m): 5:43pm On Jan 26, 2016
Barring any court order, all is now set for tomorrow's inauguration of the Kogi governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

He may however be sworn-in without a deputy governor elect, as Abiodun James Faleke, had rejected the position.

He is at present challenging the substitution of his dead principal, Abubakar Audu with Bello.

Faleke believed that the election was already won by Audu before the Independent National Electoral Commission ordered a supplementary poll. And that in the absence of Audu, he should be the beneficiary of the result. Audu died amidst INEC's declaration of the election held on 21 November 2015 as inconclusive, based on the argument that the margin of victory between Audu and incumbent Idris Wada was lower than the number of registered voters yet to cast their ballots

Justice Halima Mohammed, heading the Kogi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, in Lokoja, on Monday removed two of the obstacles on the way to Bello's inauguration. She dismissed two motions seeking interlocutory injunction to stop the event.

The two motions on notice, seeking an order of the tribunal, were filed by the counsels to Governor Idris Wada and the PDP, Chief Chris Uche (SAN) and that of the Labour Party, Reuben Egwuaba Esq.

The inauguration will hold at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, at 10:00 am, according to a statement issued by the chairman, media and publicity committee of Bello's inauguration committee, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola.

President Muhammadu Buhari, vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate president, members of the national and state assemblies, state governors, federal ministers and captains of industry are all expected to attend the ceremony.

"As part of hand over preparations, the Kogi State Government under the leadership of the outgoing governor, His Excellency, Capt Idris Wada, recently set up a Transition Committee which has been meeting with a similar committee set up by the incoming governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to ensure a smooth transition.

"Part of the lineup of activities for the occasion included the swearing of the governor, delivery of his inaugural speech, cultural displays etc.

"We seize this opportunity to advise the general public to be orderly, peaceful and to co-operate with law enforcement agents who have been directed to take strategic positions in Lokoja township and environs, to ensure a hitch-free event. Motorists moving in and out of Lokoja are equally advised to comply with speed limit on the roads and obey traffic rules to avoid unnecessary logjam."

Business / Kogi Bakers Association Reject Flour Price Rise by binoosmart(m): 6:43pm On Jan 22, 2016
Master Bakers Association of Nigeria, Kogi Central chapter, has rejected the recent increase in the price of flour by the flour mill companies in the country.

Spokesman of the association, Abdulbaqy Badamasuiy, in a statement issued yesterday lamented the indiscriminate hike in the cost of flour by the companies without any consideration for the final consumers and bakers in the business.
The association said between December 2015 and January 2016 alone, flour mill companies have increased the cost of flour by N1, 600:00, a situation which he said has crippled the baking industry in the state.
The association appealed to the federal government to prevail on the companies to revert to the original price and quality of the product before the increment so as not to subject bread consumers to further hardship.

Meanwhile, the association has directed all its members in the area to stop production to register their protests over the hike in the costs of flour.

Politics / Wada The Kogi Governor Says He Is Leaving N44.46bn Debt On Ground by binoosmart(m): 5:25pm On Jan 22, 2016
The Kogi State governor, Capt Idris Wada, on Thursday, said his administration would be leaving behind a N44.46 billion domestic debt in the state. Apart from this, the governor said he inherited N38.38 billion as debt when he assumed office on January 27, 2012. Wada, who said this while giving an overview of his administration at the Government House, Lokoja, the state capital, however, said over 42 per cent of the debt totalling over N18 billion was outstanding gratuities to retirees that had accumulated since the creation of the state in 1991. According to him, N5.5 billion was outstanding payment from the N8 billion drawn from the infrastructure bond approved for the state, adding that N2.9 billion was being owed commercial bank.

The governor also said the debt profile included N7.7 billion being salary owed workers of the state for the months of October to December 2015, while the state also had $35.7 million as long-term external debt. He, however, said he had used the last four years to lay a solid foundation for the socio-economic development of the state with the belief that the incoming government would build on it. Wada explained that despite the paucity of funds available to his government, he was able to put in place programmes and projects that that would contribute to the development of the state. He also said government had in the last four years laid foundation for the industrial development of the state, while it encouraged no fewer than 100 private investors to establish in the state.
