Science/Technology / Biologists Create : The 'living Concrete' That Can Heal Itself When It Cracks by binoosmart(m): 5:41pm On May 19, 2015
It's the world's most popular building

the pantheon from it some 2,000 years ago,
we've been trying to find ways to make
concrete more durable.

Apple has always remained rather aloft

China's leading online marketplace Alibaba,
is being sued by the owner of Gucci, Yves

brands.
Paris-based Kering has accused the firm of
making it possible for US shoppers to order

It follows a failed attempt to resolve the
matter outside the courts.
Alibaba said it was already taking action
against fake goods and that it planned to

"We continue to work in partnership with
numerous brands to help them protect their
intellectual property, and we have a strong

little oversight. But after someone created a fake

strong demand for the iPhone 7 Plus too.
Apple's only recently made its first foray into

Webmasters / How Old Do You Really Look? This Website Will Tell You In Seconds by binoosmart(m): 4:06pm On May 06, 2015
You're only as old as you think you are.
Or in this case, as old as a computer algorithm
thinks you are.
In a machine learning experiment that's taken
social vanity to new heights, Microsoft has created
a website that tells you how old you look just by
analyzing your photo.
Sometimes it's dead on. Other times it's
hilariously, outrageously wrong.
It's simple: Upload a selfie, wait a few seconds --
then the machine gives you a number.

Science/Technology / Microsoft Is Building Tomorrowland! by binoosmart(m): 3:26pm On May 06, 2015
One of the movies I'm really looking forward to
this month is Disney's Tomorrowland. My first real
job was at Disneyland, and I was so in love with the
place I often would come back and work a second

death ended that vision. That city of tomorrow

Science/Technology / Can Microsoft Take Back Momentum From Google And Apple? by binoosmart(m): 3:32pm On Apr 28, 2015
Microsoft is holding its Build event this week,
marking the beginning of its major push to launch
Windows 10. Build is in San Francisco this year,
which effectively puts it right in the back yard of
both Apple and Google -- a nice "in your face"
move. I was the featured launch analyst for
Windows 95 two decades ago and there, even
though the post launch was hardly flawless,
Microsoft ripped Apple a new rear orifice,
wounding the company so badly that one of the
founders eventually had to return to save it.
Apple is far stronger this time but that founder is
gone, and after a decade of "meh," Microsoft looks
more like its old 1995 self than it. Visit this link to see full story
