collynzo2: People who are not sure of the ideology they are following.....when you call them out they begin to deny. The other lady said she isn't 100% percent feminist, this one is now denying what she said earlier after being made to look like a fool
Dont forget aside insults, they also are misguided revisionists peddling falsehoods

And people are liking shollypops posts..?! undecided

ID how far

CNN80: Again, I have to state that I don't know why a lot of arguments on this forum end up with people insulting each other. I mean, you don't know each other in real life and see you killing yourselves online.
As for the wage disparity, I started with the same salary as all the people hired the same day with me. But as a previous poster has pointed out, there are allowances that are available to male colleagues due to them being posted to departments/sections that are not considered suitable for women.
I personally don't see what is so unsuitable about some of those sections but it is a throwback to older times when women didn't even work in my field. I don't have strength to fight it. I believe it will change over time. I once had a classmate who asked me what I was doing studying my course as I would end up in some man's kitchen.
I don't know if I can be called a feminist but I believe that everyone should be provided the choice to do what they want. Telling me that because I am a woman, I should study the arts or that I should love cooking is you assuming that you have control over my life. That is wrong. So if you have a son who enjoys cooking and a daughter who loves tinkering with cars, do you tell them that due to gender roles, they need to stop what they love because it is not appropriate for their gender?
I was fortunate to have parents who insisted their kinds learn things with no regards for gender. This meant that we all learnt to cook, change a tire, make garri from scratch and repair/troubleshoot basic electrical appliances. I believe in levelling the playing field and given everyone the same chance, that is all.

By the way, if I could burn my bra and never wear one again, grin I'd be dancing right now.
Thanks for your honesty
Im aware that some ladies will not earn the same all the time all due to the fact they dont go to the rigs as much or travel to remote locations but as I stated earlier the core pay components (housing, basic n transport ) are thesame

On the abuse part, this is NL and some of these posters are just plain cyberbullies
At times, one has to stand to them... at times one will ignore
If my question is irrevelent then your opinion is irrelevant.

It's okay....I didn't expect you to answer my question about income disclosure Of all Nigerians.

The bottom line is both sides ARE wrong about salary inequality in the workplace because NEITHER knows every income of all working females and males.

That's the truth.
So if I get what you are saying, gender pay parity is a myth because one can never know the salary of working people.
In that case your logic dictates that gender wage gap is a myth.

So what is the brouhaha all about

Mod412: Wenger is making it hard for me to support/defend him, I can't even put into words the things going through my mind after reading those comments, it might be best if I keep them to myself.

Having said that, I am willing to wager that Arsenal will still make 2 markeey(?) Signings before the close of this transfer season - don't ask me why, just my gut feeling.

Guys and ladies, I still think we should take a step back and relax a bit, we shouldn't allow this club give us unnecessary high blood pressure. AW might just be talking crazy, we all know it gets a bit hot during the summer out there, he might have been under the sun for too long, yea that's it.
Hahaha.... you still want to defend wenger's transfer policies
You r a strong man oooooo
He will make mannequin signings dont worry grin

In as much as the world has been filled with all sort of vices even before our existence; it's nothing compared to the evil of now and the doom that awaits in the future. TheMadame: Biola,
I am a woman and I feel pain of aspects of inequality that women face in a mans world, but then am also a practical person who believes we will get there one day, step by step.
I understand the idealism of some of these young girls, they have points but they are going about it with their heads in the sky.
I am not going to be a rabid feminist and pretend I hate men-NO! And this is because my husband is a lovely man,and I have two sons.
Will I want my daughter to wear a pink or green wedding gown on her wedding day? No,but I would not stop her cause that is her choice.
People need to learn to be tolerant of opposition views.
Nice one.. I agree 100 pc with you on tolerance

TheMadame: The promotion in most government organisations is based on quota system and availability of space.-that one is a story for another day but I do not think it is based on gender.
Exactly madame.. promotion has its own factors n politics
But same level same pay
FamilyRe: Rise Of The Feminist Wedding by biolabee(m): 3:36pm On Jul 27, 2013
TheMadame: is it today they started attacking me on this forum for calling a spade a spade. I am for the truth in this discourse-I am against using wrong /false points because you want to win an arguement.
The truth is that there is a lot we can do for women which in my opinion is tied to human rights
But I know in organ isations that recruit both male n females they start them together on the same salaries
Most of the people here talking of feminism had working mums, can u ask ur mums if they were discriminated on pay due to their sex

If we are talking of promotion opportunities...That is a different ball game

carefreewannabe: Ok people, the situation for women in Nigeria is wonderful. The best place to live for women. Women from all over the world would like to enjoy living in this country. You won! and feminists are all confused, men-hating, ugly women who don't know how to be thankful to men who rule this country and who have made the country prosper, reducing poverty and increasing political power on the global scale.

I am sorry for being so ungrateful even though you made this place so wonderful for me and my future daughters.
Now you are sliding to the level of shollypops who lace their posts with sarcasm n insults

I have worked in banks, consulting firms and oil servicing coys here in naija all of them pay the same to men and women

I am speaking from experience

You are asking for survey

LMAO

Let anyone who is earning less than a male come here or stop peDdling falsehoods

carefreewannabe: I think you're funnier. No, she and he (coogar) are asked to Show me a study that clearly shows that men and women get the same salary in the same Position, WOMEN IN GENERAL you smartie.
FamilyRe: Rise Of The Feminist Wedding by biolabee(m): 3:06pm On Jul 27, 2013
Madam now you are making me laugh

She should bring research to nake you believe she is earning the same with males in her establishment

Really funny

carefreewannabe: I am sure there is data on the income equality / disparity of Nigerian females and males to support your thesis, so please prove your statement using facts. Can you show us ONE collection of data, a journal, a serious article to prove what you're saying? Kindly asking ...
TheMadame: In all my years of service in Nigeria I have never heard of salary inequaality between males and females. If you come into the establishment with the same qualifications you are started on the same basic salary and allowances. The only difference maybe hazard allowances to which men are sometimes entitled but this more or less evens itself out through maternity leave and other incentives for women.Once again there is no salary discrimination between men and women with the same qualifications in Nigeria-truth must be told and not twisted in order to win arguements.
Madame they will attack you for this statement oooo
Hhahaha

Thank you for being honest...

Mostbanks here I know pay the same starting salaries
Oil n gas companies too... same

Difference comes up in allowances like field or hazard pay where women will not go to eket or escravos
Hence the difference

But the basic, housing n transport allowances are the same

Corpers earn the same

So where does this wage gap eXist?
FamilyRe: Married Men...ur Views Pls by biolabee(m): 12:22pm On Jul 27, 2013
bellong: Before a man got married, was he not going to the market as a bachelor? How will he become less of a man suddenly. Madam, If your husband is not complaining and you are not always abusing the advantage, do not let any friend's advice ruin the good relationship you have with your husband.

If she has an arrogant husband at home doesn't mean she should equate him to yours. Going to market does not reduce his manliness. Infact, he is in a better position to understand how you spend the money on groceries in the market. Keep on keeping on, may the Lord continue to bless your home.
