Politics › Re: Subsidy Fraud: Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil) Must Repay N5 Billion Within 60 Days by birdman(m): 5:05pm On Jan 19, 2012 |
Beaf: I very strongly disagree. This is exactly when we are supposed to turn on the heat. I do not see why a man should steal 5billion and be simply asked to refund it, while petty thieves die gruesome deaths with necklaces of burning tyres. This is exactly when our voices should be rising to a crescendo to strangle the bastar'ds that have defrauded the country.
Lets drop despondency for once and demand justice and punishment for crimes. If Ifeanyi Uba, or anybody else for that matter, is a thief, lets get them dealt with. Look at this razist. Now that the thief is not from SS, dude is foaming at the mouth with enthusiasm. |

londoner: If it did not cut so deep, it would not still be seen every day on this site.
The distrust is real, but nowhere near what you see on this site. Reality is way more civil, with each passing generation intermarrying more than the previous. What you see on this site is what happens when trolls are allowed a free hand. There is a reason other sites ban them - they seem to be the norm on nairaland however |

karl max: Maybe the ACN are against the PIB BILL Why would it take GEJ this long to even touch the subject of PIB. If his only reason is to deflect criticism, you know the bill is going to meet a horrible end, along with the reputations of whoever allows themselves to be used. PIB does not need a task force (er, bribe). It is pretty clear cut. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: It Takes Idiots To Be Ruled By Fools - Tunde Bakare by birdman(m): 5:16am On Jan 19, 2012 |
Olodostein: @cap28
Tunde Bakare is an opportunist who wanted to be famous overnight by taking advantage of the vulnerable. Believe me, he is a typical politician that is basically after his own selfish interest and those of his masters that he is doing their dirty bidding for.
I have a lot of respect for your views especially on foreign affairs. But you need to understand broadly how the Nigerian political system and social fabric work. It is very complex and only selflessness on behalf of everybody will rescue us. But unfortunately, selflessness has become a torture and a taboo in our society. We need a man who has his people at heart and not a deadbeat politician looking for revenge at all cost. So you are saying we shouldnt take Bakare at his word. But we should take yours. Do you have proof? Have you recently risked your own life, livelihood or reputation for Nigeria? lol. |

Tayo-D: @topic,
I didn't even bother to watch the clip. If the content of the video is truly the above caption, then why would I bother listening to a self-admitted i.diot? Afterall as a Nigerian, he is also being ruled by fools (his words)!!! Its a good thing you didnt listen to it. That way you wont how realize how idiotic your above post is. |

I'm happy to see Falana call out the SS. You would think they would show the most outrage. Till today PIB bill has gone nowhere, even with a "son of the soil" in power. Saro-Wiwa rolls in his grave. |

engineerd: The thing that is [paining me is that , i know GEJ is a good person and means well for Naija. But he is scared of the cabals, he decided to ignore or not trust the 150 million Nigerians that would have supported him if he had gone after the so called cabals! Nigerians were hoping for a HERO! we really HOPED in him! Do you have any concrete evidence of the bolded or is this just conjecture? |

nchez: You are right Kobo, it is scolding. I was just at a loss for word for the way this govt is carrying on. He may have succesfully compromised a couple of governors and even the NLC. I suspected this, given how the SNG has been explicitly distancing itself from the NLC in the last few days |

I cant help but think most men playing golf do so because its some kind of status symbol. Like drinking coffee at starbucks. Unless you are an old man with a walking stick or two, there is no reason to be playing golf. |
Politics › Re: President Jonathan Approves N97/Litre As The New Pump Price For Petrol by birdman(m): 7:26am On Jan 16, 2012 |
muami: Even if the price goes back to N65, nothing would come back. That is why the whole strike was a waste! At the very least we must make sure it never happens again. GEJ and the PDP need to pay a heavy political price for this. |
Politics › Re: President Jonathan Approves N97/Litre As The New Pump Price For Petrol by birdman(m): 7:11am On Jan 16, 2012 |
Toks2008: Lets face it.
We all know there is a subsidy been paid by Feceral government which is as a result of gross incompetence and corruption over the years.
We also know that the subsidy been paid can not be over 500billion naira even with increase in demand and never 1.3trillion plus as claimed by the federal government.
We also know that what we have in nigeria government system is carbalocrazy and not democracy.
In view of all these and to foster a way forward, N90 or N100 will be too much but we can manage.
With N90 or 10n per litre, we will now understand that no subsidy is paid any longer and we now have added tax infused in the pricing to ensure we get infrastructures that ought to be a normal duty of a responsible government.
We can't continue the protest by holding on to 65N even when we know that is the ideal stand, it is now our duty to ensure that the proceeds made from subsidy removal is judiciously spent, Wrong. There is no subsidy. For there to be a subsidy, we must be paying below cost of production. Its already been established that even at N65, there is N500B of of excess profit missing. "we can manage" mentality will be our end |

^Utomi no longer surprises me. I came to the painful realization that Utomi is at best filled with hot air, and at worst part of the corruption machinery. When you compare what he says to his political power base, namely PDP, you stop being surprised.
If we Nigerians really want change, we are going to have to stop demonising other ethnic groups - look how far "son of the soil" Jonathan has brought us. |

This protest has fizzled out largely because the politicians stirring the pot have been settled. All the suffering masses wasting their time protesting a legit toll (not the first, and definitely not the last) can now go about their business, knowing they have been used by their real oppressors to make more money. |

Ivynwa: When people blame govt and president goodluck, let them know that these religiously and politically minded/sponsored Boko Harams have you where they want you. One of their motives is to unsettle us all, incite fear and make the govts look inefficient just to have us thinking that only the northerners can rule Nigeria aright. They are shooting themselves in their arms because at the end of the day the southerners will return home, the northerners will go back to their north and Nigeria will be so divided that they will never smell that oil they have been hovering over all their lives and that will serve them right. I think most ppl agree with both points. However this does not excuse GEJ's slow bumbling attempts to curb BH. |

strangest: probably the professor is one of them.did he even think of the effect that such relationship will have on our children. the professor definitely need to go back to an informal school, mtsheww he just lost my respect for him. same thing happened when he formed the pyrates confraternity, he never gave it a second thought that it may disintegrate to what it is today. loads of students and properties already lost to what he initiated. he should stop thinking with his anus, mtsheww Nowhere did Soyinka suggest he is in support of same sex marriage. Wether you are for or against, the simple fact is you cannot legislate morality. If 2 males are sharing a room, how can you tell if they are just room mates or lovers without invading their privacy? That is why this law is useless - it is unenforceable. And in a country where police are unscrupulous, this is law is going to be abused badly. |
