Good morning Nairalanders, my is son is 12years old and in JSS 3 and has been adjudged to have high grasping ability by teachers and those he's interacted with but we have made several efforts to make him have interest in his academics ; he does not have any interest. We started giving lesson teachers when he turned 3 years but he particularly does not do well in math whereas he does wonders with his laptop.

A corps member who was teaching him math casually introduced Coding to him, copied some introductory steps to his laptop and left town. Since then he's been playing with the ebooks the corps member left for him and that informed my decision to employ the services of a computer engineer who was wowed by my son's level of advancement in coding ; he's built a couple of websites though rudimentary in my consideration.

It's a fact that almost all courses in universities require math as a prerequisite in getting admission; I kindly need your advice on best approach(es) in solving this challenge.

Stop those 'several efforts to make him to be interested in his academics' if you don't want to destroy his life. And start to engage yourself in several new efforts to help him succeed in what he has chosen to his own interest, otherwise you would at the best delay him, and at worst, derail him. We parents have a penchant to choose careers for our children for our own selfish ends - either to feed our ego or to insure against our lives in old age, without considering the ability and the aspirations and dreams of our children as the most important, relevant and necessary factors. I influenced, not forcing, my son to go for science, being a science man. Why, because I wanted to become an aeronautic engineer, my dream career which I never attained to. I saw him making the fame and money I had desired from this career for the two of us, not just for him. Since his JS1, everytime I had the opportunity, I would sit down and talk glowingly about aeronautic engineering as a career. Eventually he did science and excelled. But afterwards he boldly and openly and mercilessly told me me that he would never do any engineering course, that he preferred a career that would give an office job. That all along he had been trying to please me because of my love for him. So he got a bachelor of science degree in accounting and served. Even then and again, he refused to work with his accounting degree saying that he digressed into accounting by my influence. That the only career that would give him enduring joy is the one that will give him the constant need to talk or write. Of course, I had seen this gift in since around 6 years old. He was always writing mental novels, especially about police brutally. This had always given me secret concerns and conviction that this boy would not grow up to be a science man I wanted. Hence, my usual and constant sermon about science and aeronautic engineering. The same guy is preparing to go to law school now. But see how much of it time I had wasted. Then, remember the Nigerian celebrated International novelist, and take a cue.

Those who arrested and sentenced Isaac Adaka Boro to death for declaring Niger Delta Republic were neither Hausa-Fulanis nor Yorubas but two supposed brothers of his and Biafrans named Odumegwu Ojukwu and Aguiyi Ironsi who were still on the side of Gambaris and still trying to please them as at then. For declaring Niger-Delta Republic Ironsi, the then military head of state, ordered Ojukwu to get Isaac Boro arrested for treason.
Ojukwu, in an attempt to please Gambaris, fought Isaac Boro for 14 days within which he used federal might of “one-Nigeria” to kill 150 soldiers loyal to Isaac Boro, caught Isaac Boro, stripped him naked and sent him over to Lagos where Ironsi charged him to court and within just 2 months got him convicted, at the Supreme Court, of treasonable felony of trying to break away from Azikiwe’s one Nigeria, got him sentenced to death by hanging. While Ironsi​ and Ojukwu did all that to Isaac Boro​, they left untouched their own Igbo brother soldiers who planned a coup with which they killed Innocent Hausas, Yorubas, Niger Deltans, Middle belters leaving Igbo politicians unharmed despite they, like Zik and Okpara, were part and parcel of the corrupt Balewa government.
However, before Ojukwu and Ironsi could execute their sentence on Isaac Boro God intervened and the counter coup happened. Ironsi was overthrown and killed. Gowon took over declared Isaac Boro innocent and released him. But just fifteen months later Ojukwu too declared Biafra Republic due to the way Igbos were being killed in the North. In declaring Biafra, rather than first apologise to Isaac Boro for what he earlier did to him and then ask for his cooperation in fighting to realize the Biafra dream, Ojukwu did nothing like that but without consulting Boro at all went as far as arrogantly including in his Biafra map the very Niger Delta areas which Isaac Boro earlier tried to pull out of Nigeria and which he (Ojukwu) nearly killed him for.
This angered Isaac Boro and Ken Saro Wiwa who both pledged support for Gowon in order to teach Ojukwu a bitter lesson for his arrogance and dishonesty. That was why Isaac Boro and Saro Wiwa fought on the side of Gowon during the war. Naturally Isaac Boro couldn’t have come out of prison to join the Ojukwu who jailed him and fight against the Gowon who released him. It would have been absurd. No rational human being does that.
This is the truth of what happened and which Igbos hate to hear but prefer to blame everyone else as if they themselves were 100℅ innocent.
Igbos must learn to say the truth because if the Biafra/Niger Delta Republic they now seek is founded on lies and deliberate falsehood, like Nigeria, it will not stand but will soon become a failed state like Nigeria. We can’t leave Nigeria for another Nigeria.
But we however know that Igbos allergy to truth is incurable, therefore Niger-Delta states will never be part of Biafra

Babangida is not 71.He 54 years when he stepped aside in 1993.It was in the papers then as the press chronicled the the history of his life and the atrocities of his rule. I can't understand why people bother about a fantastical muslim being killed. Because sooner or later ,he would be the cause of someone'sdeath. Even fellow muslims are not protected against this possibility. There are good decent muslims around to love and fight for.
