My submission is it will amount to waste of energy debating with an Igbo person on this forum. Even when you present simple logic responds to a debate they still can't get it, rather they will play to the gallery. It is a simple political mathematics democracy deals with numbers. Since they lack the numbers it is sensible to build alliances, create conducive atmosphere for dialogue with those who have the numbers, build trust links. It is not a rocket science Nigerians both north and south will be your advocate. Not insulting us that have the numbers and still expect us to give you power for where? You can continue with your blackmailing just as you guys did last year against Speaker Gbaja just to prevent him from becoming Speaker.
We are here expecting your usual chest-beating comment even when your political leaders have agreed it will take a miracle for igbo person to become Nigeria President.
dadabashua1: 100% true..the Zuru people in particular, the Zuru people also has the highest number of military generals in the country... Its just a quite state with no noise
Yes you are correct, I read about their exploit in Nigeria military some time ago. Very quiet state with a beautiful culture and famous festival in Nigeria, the Argungu fishing festival.
awhybliss: Have even forget this state exist... No news about this state benin-kebbi on front-pages, I do even know the governor.. is Corona there? Could this be the most peaceful state In Nigeria?.. no violence report, not criminal report .
Funny enough, Kebbi indigenes are one of the most educated northerners. Ahead of some popular northern state.
proeast: GEJ had some issues no doubt, but there was no denying the fact he was a true Democrat and meant well for the country. However, as 2015 elections approached, his worst critics were the SW. Now, if such criticisms were borne out of good intentions it would have been helpful, but what we saw was outright use of propaganda, lies, slander and all manner of smear campaign all targeted at the person of GEJ. While South East and South South fought hard to at least give GEJ some deserved support, Tinubu went into alliance with the North and together, they contrived to remove GEJ from office.
Today, the corruption allegations, insecurity, maladministration etc. This same Tinubu and his minions accused GEJ have become brazenly out of control yet the SW have kept silent, and even when Igbos complain about how the country is fast going downhill, the SW pretend that Nigeria is now perfect under Buhari even when the country has never had it worse. They are doing all these based on selfishness and greed to show Buhari and the Northerners that they are standing with them. Their believe is that the North will compensate them for being so loyal to them.
The SW through Tinubu, are now cunningly championing a return of power to the South as a mantra, with the hope that APC will give their ticket to Tinubu while PDP should give theirs to an Igboman. By so doing, they will now use the APC control of the center to manipulate things for Tinubu to win.
The SW have forgotten that he who must come to equity must come with clean hands. How can a region that have ruled for 8 years as president and another 8 years as Vice president have the guts to tell another not to contest while they can freely contest. Such thinking is not only selfish but also illogical. If the SW feels they can contest in 2023, then nothing stops the NW or any region at that from doing so.
Unfortunately for the SW, the Northerners are even far more cunning and self preserving than they can imagine. During the run-up to 2015, many northerners in PDP openly and privately campaigned for Buhari who was in APC. Now, they are definitely going to do so again once Tinubu emerges from APC by massively supporting any Northern candidate that comes from PDP.
Lastly, Igbos are not desperately seeking for the presidency because it is in the best interest of those that want Nigeria to remain as one that should be championing Igbo presidency same way everyone championed Yoruba presidency in 1999 as a way of pacifying them over the injustice that was metted to Abiola.
By insisting on contesting in 2023, the SW will only be paving the way for the ultimate emergence of a Northern president.
In 2015 you make a decision (Igbo) I also make a decision (Yoruba) the decision not go in your favor( Igbo). Now you were given opportunity to correct your mistake, but instead you deliberately make the same mistake and you expect me (Yoruba) to take responsibility for your actions under your new tag for fairness, justice and equity. Even in America politics you can progress politically with this mindset of deliberate failure. My advice choose your failure wisely. And take responsibility for your actions.
SLAP44: That is how it will work out, except another popular northerner contests against the Jagaban, in which case I have never seen many northerners who will vote a yoruba man against his his northern brother.
But the same northerners voted Abiola against Tofa in the North in 1993. Let me burst your bubble Abiola won Kano state, the home state of Tofa. Please say something else.
OVIHINNO: Sitting Governors who were denied return party tickets
When it comes to sitting governor denied second term ticket they actually a bit more in numbers. But sticking to sitting governor disqualified from contesting we have 2 since the return of democracy. Timipre Sylva and Obaseki.
However, these are the list of Governors denied return tickets. Chinwoke Mbadinuju 2003 Bala James Ngilari 2015 Ambode Akinwunmi 2019
jaxxy: Oshiomole will destroy Apc starting with Edo. It is evident. One army doesn’t listen to advice.
This has never happened in the history of any political party. A sitting governor disqualified by his party?? Apc has started it and there will be consequences. Let’s hope it’s a joke.
It has happened before, under jonathan in PDP in bayelsa state. Timipre Sylva was disqualify from contesting the primary election.
TallNigerian: Thanks for this advise. I really appreciate. I know I might have a bright future in the civil service coupled with the fact that I am also politically aware and love taking leadership roles whenever the opportunity presents itself. However, I am worried about the current reward system....and the things I have to endure before getting to that directorial/perm sec cadre. Thanks still....I will also consider your input.
Thanks for the compliment, I'm happy you will look into the advice. I do hope God will give you the discretion to make the right decision.
TallNigerian: hmmm....you know so much about how our system operates.
Not really, I became familiar with civil service rules when my dad was still in service. I later learn more, when I did my first degree in political science at UI.
ETHIX: Hmmmm, dont allow fear to blind his eyes. Those long term benefits are rubbish. I can bet it that if he finds himself in Canada his regret will be that he left Nigeria late.
Do you understand what it means to become a permanent secretary in Nigeria and eventually becomes a HOS of the federation. The influence, power wielding is left unimagined. Do you think the northerners are studpid when they prefer to stay and man strategic government ministry in Nigeria? No they understand that is where the shot is court. I'm even surprised that someone of his age has achieve such feat in the civil service in our present time. It is choice, wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.
The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.
I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.
I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.
However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.
I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?
My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?
Your honest inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
@CrazyMan @1forall Please I need your help in pushing this forward for a wider view. Thank you.
If what you state is true about your current job level, I will sincerely advise you to stay please. Take a look at the long run benefit. You are just 30 already in level 10, according to you you will be in level 12 by next year, has it across your mind that with your age you might end up to be permanent secretary, for a long time and if God will you will become HOS(Head of service of the federation) pay close attention at the long term benefits you will stand to gain and the state you represent at the nearest future. Don't forget critical decision that benefit Nigerian are taking by the top echelons of government officials.
To me sir, you have more to gain status and money wise if you remain in the federal job. My 2 cent advise.
nextdoor84: The Sarakis beg to differ! The only yoruba governor so far was the late Mohammed Lawal. Get your history right bro. Sarakis are from Mali. His word not mine!
Sir, I think you are the one that need to update yourself regarding governance in Kwara state, even the current governor is a complete Yoruba man. Google can help, so we don't results to unnecessary argument.
lanrex101: Damn! This is really a great loss. I could remember I met him sometimes ago and he was very friendly. Who knew his departure would be so soon. May his soul rest in Peace.
What you said is true, easy to approach, calm and ready to pay attention to what you are discussing with him. Regardless of his status in government, he is a very simple man. Adieu Rt Hon Kehinde Ayoola.
CsRockefeller: Recently, I posted on FB that I have found a new babe.
The following day, my very close female muslim friend told me that I shouldn't I have posted such that I should have kept it private. Since then, she dissappearred from my life. This is someone that we talk at least every day on Watsapp and on phone at least every week. The funny thing is that she is in a relationship and I have been telling her that I am seriously searching.
It didnt end there, like 3 days after, a girl I knew tru a family friend and was planning on seeing b4 d lockdown told me she saw my post and that she is happy for me, I told her its nothing serious but she insisted that I have found someone already. Till date we havent said a word to each other.
That was how I lost 2 friends not to even talk about family and friends that kept on talking about d post, I just had to delete it.
Modified This is getting strange, I have noticed that 80% of my comments on any relationship or family thread gets to make front page. Initially, I waved it off being it may just a mere coincedence but with this thread hitting F.P I am now curious. Is any Mod following me?
Wow, I had similar experience late last year, I met this beauty personified lady in UI, for postgraduate class. Before we say jack she don dey close to me, unknown to her I'm also eyeing one of our coursemate which she met twice through me. We chat and she informed she has a guy, but funny enough I have access to classified information from her without even asking. Initially I try to make moves to ask her out but not serious but one day she told me I will make a good boyfriend, by this time my formula don catch the other course mate, me just bone, the next day I mistakenly said to her love you and she responded back love you too. I was shock but I just overlooked. Some days later my babe birthday was just few days so I just post her picture on WhatsApp status in anticipation oh, if you see the response this girl give, clearly shows that I have hurt her emotional, thought we are still friends but boundaries has been drawn since it is clear she can have me. So the behavior of your friends show that they have feeling for you despite being in a relationship.
lanibi: I still don't think there's any thing wrong with asking Tesla to help us with ventilators.
Let's put aside our pride and ask for help when needed.
What happened to the 25 Billions naira FG approved recently? Has it be utilized to the letter? Afterall, several billions of naira has roll in front corporate coys and private individuals. Are you aware that 100 ventilators @ $25,000 cost just 2.5 Millions dollars less than 1Billion. That is just one individual contribution towards the fight against Covid-19, so on what basis are will subjecting ourselves to a begging nation's when we are yet to account for the money contribute and approved which runs into billions of naira. This is highly unfortunate, the terrible part of it no one will be punished for this gross misconduct.
primesoccer: Exactly what I plan on doing. I will definitely meet her and talk to her, then bring up the evidence. Thank you
I don't think that will be a good idea. For a lady to deny you the way you narrate it won't make sense to sit with her to discuss any issue she will just bring up excuses why she what she did and for your info she will play reverse psychology on you by saying you are cause of her behavior. Just be wise and make plans for alternative. Ensure to withdraw your system support she has been enjoying by do it in a unique way. She deserves an element of surprise for she has done. Bro use your head not your heart now. Shalom
Covid19Control: We hope that you can work with us. We want to be able to reach the ignored people who have been tagged as "low-risk". COVID-19 is very dangerous because it can be spread around, even by healthy asymptomatic people.
You are still economical with the truth. Tell us why we can't get tested as an individual when our Politicians and great personality are getting tested without experience the symptoms of Covid-19. It will not be an happy ending if testing is restricted to the rich and famous only. Please kindly forward our displeasure to the appropriate quarters. Thank you.
Noooo IG we must visit oh. Shebe your boys sabi arrest very good looking Nigerians and calling us names just to extort us. We must pay you guys a visit tipa tipa.
*Source* before we can debate the content. By the way China didn't lose the trade war. A re-negotiation of terms of business agreement cannot simple amount to lost of trade deals. It is a known fact that change is inevitable, mind you reputable Americans companies has their coy in China. So what will be the benefit of Chinese to set-up their country men and lose investors and citizens? Even when the Chinese practice the policy of isolation from the rest of the world between 1949-1977 they still interact with the world. It is now that they have a intimidating populations (1.4 Billions) to look after they will now decided to set the world ablaze? Are you aware Chinese now export their citizens(prisoners) to other nations just to earn more income in order to keep the economy of the country growing? If this questions are answered. Then we can now proceed to consider the word conspiracy theories.
