FORMER CPC vice presidential candidate and founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare has declared that he earnestly yearns for a better Nigeria where good governace, equal distribution of the nation’s resources amongst others for all citizens. The former running mate of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) made this remarks while ministering during the inauguration and commissioning of Grace and Glory Chapel in Ikeja, Lagos, while giving reasons why he rejected a car gift for his 60th birthday. Pastor Bakare said he was not interested in becoming a local champion in a city of the blind, recalling that, some persons brought him a 2015 model of Rolls Royce during his 60th birthday which, he said, he out rightly rejected, adding that he was not in need of such exotic car while majority of Nigerians are wallowing in poverty. “I want to see good governance. I want to see discipline. I want to see equitable distribution of resources. I want to see the poor being educated. I want to see a nation that works,” Bakare said. Continuing, he said: “I don’t want to be a local champion in a city of the blind. I am not in need of a 2015 model of Rolls-Royce which was presented to me as a gift. “I was sitting at home one day and they brought in a brand new 2015 Rolls-Royce into my house. My 60th birthday was coming. I looked at it, kai! This is awkward. When you open your car, your door goes this way, its own door goes that way. It clears the way so that there is nothing blocking your way. “I saw a button. They said: it is an umbrella sir. It is on every door in case it is raining, you just push it and the umbrella comes out. I said: Na wa o. Then I said: Oya, leave this place. “Where is the road that I will ride it upon? My heart is not in things like this. I asked my son to take a photograph of the brand new car as a proof,” the controversial pastor noted. Bakare also averred that poverty has made most Nigerians to believe that anybody without a jet has not arrived, adding that majority of those who bought jets can no longer maintain such jets and are busy leasing them out. No one needs any introduction to the fact that corruption has decimated our national & individual lives. One can easily surmise that a Buhari Govt. will most certainly like to unearth most of the ills that have defiantly refused us a right to good life and appreciable standard of living. Thats why these bandits ruling us are getting so ever desperate as we countdown to stop the man from ascending. They'll do whatever not to get their YANSHES exposed. These are a bit of what we can surely expect of him once he's in control.... *He certainly will expose the rot & corruption that has totally eclipsed the NNPC/ oil sector... *Investigate & expose the scam of the TAM of the country's refineries over the years... *Cut down on the atrocious & over-bloated costs of running government, and did someone say what about the flying toys for the Presidency... *...oh, and POWER! Like one PDP cabinet member once said that witches are wizards are the ones militating against our power situation, he will most certainly want to know the voodoo, witches & vampires that have refused to let the power sector function... *Malfeasance in the Civil service You may add yours... |

PHCN or whatever the hell they are called hav done it again. Bunch of corrupt incompetent buffoons! The country is currently losing 2,042.2 megawatts of electricity due to gas supply shortage and poor water management. The 411 G2 and G4 units of the Shiroro hydro power plant are currently losing 300MW, while the loss of 1,742.2MW is attributed to gas supply shortage at various legacy gas-fired power plants, including the National Integrated Power Project plants. The information on the loss was contained in the daily broadcast of the Transmission Company of Nigeria obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday. The AES barges 202-205 and 207-211 in Lagos are currently losing 288MW due to gas-related problems, while the Geregu NIPP GT 21 and 23 units have lost 290MW. According to the TCN, the Rivers IPP GT1 is losing 160MW, while the Ihovbor GT2 has a deficit of 112.5MW. The Omotosho NIPP GT1 and 4, and Sapele ST2 units are said to be losing 240MW and 70MW, respectively. The Egbin ST1 and 3 units have capacity to generate 660MW, but are currently doing 467MW; meaning a loss of 193MW. The Omotosho Gas GTI, 3, 5-8 units have a combined capacity of 228MW, but are doing 146.2MW; thus recording a loss of 81.8MW. Also, the Olorunsogo Gas GT1-4, 7 and 8 units, with capacity for 228MW, are generating just 161.1MW and losing 66.9MW due to gas shortage. Peak generation for the country as of Tuesday was put at 3,865.4MW, while 3,331.5MW was the figure for off-peak generation. The Federal Government had shifted its earlier target of generating 6,000MW of electricity before the end of 2014 to this year. The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, had said, “We have an outlook for 2015 to 2017. People are saying you people said you will do 6,000MW, yes! We have the capacity standing, we now have the gas standing and we are going to do that shortly within this year. But beyond that; by 2016, we expect to get up to 10,000MW; and by 2017, to get 12,500MW.” The mid-January statistics obtained from the ministry showed that peak generation on Wednesday was 4,405.6MW; energy generation, 4,000.63MW; and the energy sent out was 3,914.60MW. Peak demand was, however, put at 12,800MW. On gas pipelines vandalism, Nebo also said the country lost an average of 1,000MW in 2014 as a result of the activities of vandals. Source; Punch |

In conclusion, I am not an apostle for recycling old politicians but I am averse to people like Ayo Fayose pushing twisted and one-sided history in our faces. I just want to show that all over the world senior citizens get elected and most of them see their tenure through. Only Tôn Đức Thắng of Vietnam died in office. You can research this fact. Ironically none of dead presidents on Fayose’s statistics in the Punch was up to 70 as at the time of their death. This shows how confused this Ekiti governor is. Please let us contribute to knowledge, the fact that some elements are privileged to be in seat of power doesn’t mean we cannot engage intelligently. People like Ayo Fayose should be told that the white didn’t hide things in books for black people like us. Let the game continue, we will serve them while it is hot. *P.S,...ignore the despots amongst them. Emphasis on the good guys... |

In the last couple of weeks or thereabout, the entire nation & social media has been frenzied with the Buhari cert. saga. I for one think its actually a good thing all this came up, aside the needless distractions it has created & diverted from the real issues of electoral importance in the very short time we have to the run-up to elections. Buharists may snort at the fuss all this has generated but it speaks volumes that our threshold for the acceptance of crass impunity & unbriddled disrecpect for rule of law that has held sway for far too long is being significantly lowered, albeit the docile & taciturn nature of Nigerians to the siddon-look syndrome. Nigerians are gradually crawling out of OUR shells & facing up to the so called powers that be & slowly but surely they'l gradually start coming to terms with the fact that the citizenry are becoming brazenly enlightened, ask questions when need arises & wont allow to be taken for granted anymore..... *Im voting GMB btw, thats if they finally decide to give me my PVC.... |
