So if I am a Lamborghini and Ferrari collector it means DSS will get a search warrant from a magistrate court and you say you want to fight corruption. How do u manage to buy 12 G wagon on public servant salary? Use your brain for once! |

I read the first 50 comments and I weep for Nigeria. I think we are almost beyond redemption. Our moral compass is completely lost. GEJ summarized it : STEALING IS NOT CORRUPTION.
So sad. A country where u catch a thief and the public starts to measure what he stole? How in God's name can a public servant afford a house like this? Plus 9 vehicles? Plus 2 cooks?? How much is his salary?? Jeez! What is wrong with us Nigerians. How did we ever get this low? |

Politics › Re: Inside Story Of Why Dasuki Is In Trouble by blackpanda: 9:18am On Jul 18, 2015 |
hedonistic: I don't see how the "recovery" of 3 guns and a mere $40,000 adds any value or spice to the DSS invasion of his house. As a retired senior military officer and NSA for that matter, you would expect him to have guns for personal protection, so what? Then $40k is roughly N10 million. That can't even buy a good car these days; the pure water Toyota Prado that litters Abuja streets costs at least N15 million. Even many mistresses and high class ashawos in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja have that in cash or jewellery in their rooms, so big deal?
Tell us something more meaningful. If he embezzled billions of dollars, where is the evidence? Where is the money trail? Either u are completely morally depleted or u have mental problem! |

crazygod: Mr, with the little economics i know, inflation refers to excess circulation of money in the economy. What led the naira to the quagmire it has found itself is the continuos importation of goods and services against local production. Another index is the continous comparison of dollar to naira in relation to the cost of living in our economy. When u continue to increase salaries also expect increase in demand and at the same time, increase in prices of goods and services as a result of increase in imports void of local products. resulting effect will be increase in the rate of inflation and continious fall in the value if naira. Complete trash How do u expect a human being to live on 18k Be reasonable |

Politics › Buhari And The Fear Of Change by blackpanda(op): 7:03am On Jul 10, 2015 |
A wise person once said: The only constant thing in life is change.
By the time you finish reading this, many will be bitter because another wise person also said: truth is a bitter pill to swallow.
It would seem that like it or not, Nigeria is gradually moving towards a 2 party system i.e PDP and APC, just like America. But what is more worrisome is that unlike America where the parties are clearly divided along ideology lines, in Nigeria you simply have a party that has ruled for 16yrs with impunity, greed and absolutely nothing to show for it. Then another trying to right the wrongs of the past.
Did I hear someone say APC is simply an offshoot of pdp? Well technically you are right. But remember that we are all Nigerians, and we are the only ones that can redirect our system. There is no magician that will fall from the sky to put Nigeria on the path to greatness.
The fact that the vast majority of Nigeria voted out pdp overwhelmingly just goes to show you how displeased, disappointed and disgusted the Nigerian people had become with their status quo. But despite all this, there are millions of Nigerians who benefitted (directly or indirectly) from the 16yrs of pdp rule. These are the people who detest and hate any mention of the word "change".
When you say corruption in Nigeria, many people see it as an abstract concept. We have completely lost all moral compass. The majority of the people agitating against the current administration are not doing so because they want to honestly contribute to the betterment of Nigeria. They are doing so because they are really afraid of change. It is not Buhari thats the problem, its the fear of the unknown.
Nigerians are like israelites, with very short memory. We forget things very easily. This is the reason why we continue to make the same mistakes, going round circles and going nowhere.
Since the day President Buhari entered Government its been one form of attack or the other. Its barely 2 months the Government was inaugurated and someone is already writing a list of what the Government cannot achieve. So many editorials and pieces written from the platform of bitterness and hate.
But I believe there is hope. Nigerians may not see it, but the international community already appreciate the change. I also believe that when the seeds being planted by this Government begin to yield fruit, all citizens will appreciate the need for change. In time, we will appreciate just how close we came to catastrophe. |

dBard: Another day, another page in series that the NASS crises has become. Dogara is right tho. How can d ideals of a few (party) be held (supreme) above the wishes of D populace How does party interest supercede national interest and yet we still claim t b a democracy Dogara might be speaking from d perspective of personal interest/survival BUT he speaks d 'truth'.
Waiting f d next episode sha But I thot its the people that voted and chose the party? So if a party member refuses to follow the party, how does that help democracy? If party can not control its members, then our democracy is dead on arrival because humans are naturally selfish and will only do that which will personally favour them. If party can not control its members, that means the people can not control the members as well. Party looks at the broader picture as against the members that are just in for their own selfish reasons. |
