HealthNow I Have Ulcer! by Blackpearlous(op): 8:56am On Nov 01, 2020
For the first time I would fly, it was worth missing my valedictory service for, my mum taught us to be discreet so I couldn't gloat or even tell my friends I would be flying to write my post utme. A lot of things ran through my mind, as discreet as I was trained to be, my mind was loud. grin

Can't remember how long it took us to get to Lagos from abuja, less than an hour? I don't care! tongue Got to my aunt's place in Lagos and it was hell for me the few days I stayed angry.

My aunt and her children had varying degrees of ulcer so what was made was pepper-less and oil-less, and I would curse them from morning to night anytime I eat with a smile plastered on my face. Don't trust people always smiling o. grin

Didn't get admitted until three years later. During my 6months compulsory internship in my 300level I was Ill four times till it was confirmed I had ulcer. embarassed Most of my pain was from all the jest I made of my aunt and her children. sad

Drugs upon drugs, heartburns and gas trapped in my chest. Now I have been reduced also to a diet dairy and have to watch what I eat. I now get it, it was detrimental to them to eat those kind of food.

We don't have to be in people's shoes for us to be considerate and selfless in thoughts and deeds.

You might have sick siblings, spouse, friends around you, some of us are used to thinking they are faking it, yea some people do oversabi angry but we should still care for that asthmatic sis that doesn't want the windows open, that magraine prone bro that doesn't want noise and that diabetic mum that always ask you to help her boil unripe plantain. Take care of the sick even while you healthy.

Finally, sick people don't hype sicknesses too, stay strong and be full of faith. wink

N.B - The most common causes of peptic ulcers are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). Stress and spicy foods do not cause peptic ulcers.

Neither does making jest of people causes ulcer.

I have been reading post from young people, depressed and not just getting it, I swear it's very emotional, I actually shed a tear or two. Sometimes I wish there is a place we can all meet in the evening talk about our issues and encourage each other for better days ahead.

I'm young too and have made mistakes I wish I never did, but they happened and I had to build from there. I am not there yet but there something in my mind that has been built that makes me see all what is going on now as a PROCESS but I won't lie to you somedays I get overwhelmed and just break down and cry, somedays I get it.

What I learnt is that when I say I get it, it doesn't mean I don't feel insecure, unsure, afraid, intimated, weak, shallow, stupid and overly ignorant of the future but in my weaknesses I know I will get SOMEDAY.

Lemme share something's that have fortified my mind.

1) great people didn't get great overnight.

I swear check Tyler Perry na, where you are going is not magic that will get you there, these people missed it, got it, missed it again. Life na zig zag.

2) invest in your mind

There is nothing you can't unlearn or learn, if you have a problem with gambling you can fix it, I swear its not beyond you only if you don't want to fix it, if you need to lose weigh you can, it's your life you can edit anything you want.

3) problems are inevitable.

Just choose your problem, if you don't invest in yourself you will have problems, if you do you will have problems from investing.bif you hustle problem if you don't hustle problem.

4) Everyone is wearing a social mask.

Stop comparing yourself with someone else's social mask, you most def don't look like your problems completely, same as your colleague, we all have issues but you know yourself more than you know me so you will compare your true self with my own social self, that a recipe for depression. As I dey type I no too dey ok, you will think I'm better. So face your problem.

5) time will go whether or not you do anything.

Use time well, if you like pity yourself for ten years or take control of your life for ten years, ten years will pass. Go and learn a skill no matter what, weda it's to fix tiles or plumbing just spend time well.

It's too long ba? No vex. Lastly abeg dey read or listen to better people or change your circle, admire better people.

I love you guys. See you at the top!

FamilyEffect of music videos by Blackpearlous(op):
Power of mass media.

I am grateful during this pandemic I am able to keep body and soul together, before getting admitted to the university I had learnt how to make hair, while waiting to be mobilized I decided to work in a salon and it has been fulfilling.

In my house normally, I hardly watch TV, I am almost always on my phone or if I were to sit and watch TV probably the news or discovery channel or nat Geo everything or Nickelodeon or da Vinci or movies (selected). So I started working in this salon and from morning to night we watch music channels and this got me thinking, 90% of all music videos is sex inspired (looking for the right word, is sexual or sexy or naked or dancing naked videos)(10% for real hustle).

From morning to night, nothing really constructive or artistic, my brain cells are dying I can hear them cry as I sleep. I started evaluating what exactly is the ART in what the ARTistes were delivering, I saw it sponsoring moral decay, I can't imagine a teenager watching that from morning to night, women will always be unclothed before them and money would equate to love, and the sexier you are as a lady the more money you should have not from working but from your body.

It dawned on me the power of the media, because small small I will na start thinking I want to blow into money and not grow, or maybe me too I should look for one rich dude to change my life. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Tell me about how you think the media is influencing you or the society.

Are any free thinkers, agnostics, atheists, etc here dating in Nigeria or dating Nigerians?

How was the journey and what advice do you have?

I'm talking about serious dating, with the possibility of marriage.
It's not easy, I'm female and atheist, but I try to make it clear from the onset before things gets serious.

The only thing I enjoy is that I am not against religious topics or let alot of people know I am a free thinker. I relate with people as humans not as religious folks.

I can go for a church meeting (my family doesn't even know I'm atheist, I still attend morning devotion and all). I dont let it define my relationship.
RomanceRe: Do I Tell My American Patient He's Being Scammed By A Nigerian Romance Scammer? by Blackpearlous(f): 10:55pm On Aug 13, 2020
ALEX182:
So I have this American patient who I recently came across. He's a fat dude who is like in his late 40s but has a very jolly and likeable character. I introduced myself and we got talking afterwards.

After a while of chitchat, he asked me where I was from. I told him to take a guess and he said said, you sound like you're Nigerian. I told him (regrettably) that I was Nigerian. He started smiling and told me that he had a Nigerian girlfriend and that we both had similar accents.

He then started telling me recent occurrences that had befallen his girlfriend in Nigeria. He said the lastest story was that she was in Abuja and as she was on her way to the airport in a taxi, the taxi had an accident and she was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. He said that the hospital demanded money before treatment started and he had to hustle about $4000 and send to her in order for treatment to start.

He said that after a week of her being in the hospital, they wanted to discharge her despite her still being in pain. Because she had exhausted all the $4000 on treatment, he said the hospital had threatened to discharge her on the streets and he was trying to borrow more money to see if he could send it to her so they could continue with her treatments.

He furthermore told me that the girlfriend said that she was a Nigerian American citizen who was currently stuck in Nigeria due to her passport having expired and also due to Covid lockdown at airports in Nigeria. He said she had asked him for $300 to renew her US passport from American embassy in Nigeria.

Another thing that he told me was that just before covid struck, there was a similar pandemic which happened in Nigeria early this year and that his girlfriend had contracted the disease and he had to send her $2000 for treatment. Right now he said he's broke but is waiting for like $2000 disability check from the US government next week which he will send to her as soon as the money clears.

As he was telling me this tale, I was so angry with Nigerians and how they take advantage of people in love to scam them. I wanted to swear for the scammers angry

I'm at a dilemma here. Do I tell him that he's being scammed by Nigerians or do I continue to be professional and just ignore it. Because I don't want him to think I'm involved with it because these oyinbo people can turn everything on your head and accuse you that is your people in conjunction with you that are scamming him. They are that crazy.

The good part of me wants to help him but I'm hesitant that it may turn out bad for me. Please matured responses.
Tell him but be wise about it, that man is fragile emotionally, thinking no one loves him so he has to hold this one tight.

Don't make a decision for him, advise him and respect whatever he wants to do, just let him know that his girlfriend might just be a scammer.

Tread wisely o but make sure you tell him it's the right thing to do since he opened up to you himself.

All the best!
