ILIDEFI: The brain doesn't rest, it is always busy and it is the most hard working because it does the most work. Now let me ask you, between a water pump and a computer , which one is doing more work... In relation to brain death why didn't you post everything.. Brain death is the complete and irreversible loss of brain function (including involuntary activity necessary to sustain life).[1][2][3][4] Brain death is one of the two ways of determination of death, according to the Uniform Determination of Death Actof the United States (the other way of determining death being "irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions".[5] It is not the same as persistent vegetative state, in which the person is "alive". Brain death is used as an indicator of legal death in many jurisdictions, but it isdefined inconsistently. Various parts of the brain may keep living when others die, and the term "brain death" has been used to refer to various combinations. For example, although a major medical dictionary[which?] says that "brain death" is synonymous with "cerebral death" (death of the cerebrum), the US National Library of Medicine Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) system defines brain death as including the brainstem. The distinctions can be important because, for example, in someone with a dead cerebrum but a living brainstem, the heartbeat and ventilation can continue unaided, whereas in whole-brain death (which includes brain stem death), only life support equipment would keep those functions going. Patients classified as brain-dead can have their organs surgically removed for organ donation. 1 Like |

ILIDEFI: Nice...but before I clap for you let's not forget what this thread was all about. Which part of the body listed in most hard working and which one can't we do without. I believe we can comfortably live with an artificial heart...but you cannot live without a brain. The heart only pumps blood as it's single function whereas the brain does a whole lot more. The brain wins on all levels. |

jhidey08: Don't be stupid..The battery to your body is the brain and not the heart ...The only sentiment you guys have is because you can feel the heart at work. Now to address the point that the body can work without the brain..too much movie is worrying you. Different parts if the brain control different parts of the body...If you remain the whole brain...All the parts of the body will not function and will die. But if a small part is damaged, only the functions it controls will stop. Please next time use your brain when replying me. |

ILIDEFI: Don't you have a brain? Just because you don't hear or feel your brain doesn't mean it's not working...The brain works harder because it does a whole lot while all the heart does is to pump blood. Will you rate a computer lower than a water pump ? |

tolulinks: Don't display your ignorance publicly...when you are brain dead, you need to be placed on life support which helps you breathe and maintains other vital signs. Once the machine is switched off...you die |

Na lie o...Na brain. The brain Controls and coordinates all aspects of the body. If you brain stops working everything else stops. If your heart stops, you don get heart attack be that but you may not die. There can be a heart transplant but we never hear of brain transplant before o. Most importantly...you are not alive because your heart is beating or because you can breathe through your nose. You are alive because your brain tells your nose to breathe and your blood absorbs the oxygen and the brain then tells the heart to pump the oxygenated blood to the parts of the body which it is needed. The brain is the master key. Modified : Some people quoted me saying there have been a successful brain transplant and I asked them to provide the source or link to the info...another said the body can function without the brain and gave an example of persons who are brain dead but still alive. I clarified that, persons that are brain dead are usually on life support and the machine tries to do the work of the brain by keeping the organs working. Once its switched off, the person dies. Another said the heart is always pumping and I made them understand that there are many people who use pace makers which are electronic hearts. They do not beat but still pump blood. The heart has only one function which even it is not in charge of while the brain does multiple tasks. I dont know if anyone posting here is using his heart to reason and post on Nairaland. Simply because you can hear the heart beat does not mean that the most hard working...remember that empty vessels make the largest noise. 96 Likes 5 Shares |

Everydaeguy: SMH. ..you sound like a Nigerian government worker. They should be proactive by commencing investigations as to where the bodies are, take charge of the autopsy (to ensure the results are not tampered with to hide a crime) and report to stakeholders on their findings or commence criminal investigation if foul play is suspected. People have gotten too used to being laid back. |

Everydaeguy: So if a policeman is witnessing a murder, he should wait until another witness calls the office and then wait until he is instructed to stop or catch the murderer? That's silly...very silly. It's possible the deaths was a homicide...They shouldn't have made that statement publicly . |

Rubbish...the Old man is trying to avoid jail by denying her. Obasanjo is a disgrace to Nigeria...the most annoying part was when some people were trying to cover for Obj when the news came out. No fraud can happen successfully before Obasanjo's eyes without him supporting it...He is that intelligent and sadly...dirty minded. 41 Likes 1 Share |

If GMB is perceived as being fair in his tackling of corruption ...(i.e. Jailing persons of all corrupt persons in government subsequent to 1985), we will take him seriously. However, if his fight starts from 2011, he will be useless before my eyes. |

Finally...somebody else is speaking my mind. Jonathan has lost, you have won...I'm sure they are afraid that everybody's eyes will be on them. Whether they like it or not, APC must deliver on their campaign promise. After all...Oil prices had already fallen when they were promising heaven and earth. 59 Likes 1 Share |

The world was against Jonathan by not supporting him...yet he was still blamed for not preforming. That Anti - gay law he signed and his refusal to pledge loyalty to world powers may be to blame. But all that is irrelevant now...GMB is now the president elect and will be responsible for the country from May 29. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Controlled: What if I told you that leadership has nothing to do with book knowledge. If it did, Jonathan would be better than Buhari. Leadership requires Charisma, ability to convince and control people with limited use of force to attain societal goals. The brains provide the information while the leader takes decisions. 1 Like |
