Where are all the Igbo People - Maybe they have left the shores of Nigeira for greener pastures or could they all be in Lagos. |
Senator Anthony Agbo, representing Ebonyi North in the National Assembly, has raised alarm that population of the Igbo nation is depleting. advertisement Agbo said, "Ndigbo may become beside the point in the country's political calculations, if its citizens continue to be economical with the number of procreations. ''I am raising alarm over this dangerous trend. Igbo families are unconscious of demographic population. ''They now limit the number of children they bear. This attitude is common within the rich class, so it can not be because of economic reasons. ''Ndigbo have adopted the western culture of giving birth to two or three children only without minding the implications." The senator argued that they talk about economic reasons was not tenable and "I ask why is it that it is only Igbo ethnic group that worries about this factor. Population of other ethnic groups may grow in such a manner that they may not have needed the Ndigbo for election." Agbo said some developed countries now give their citizens incentives to procreate because they have realised the implications of population. The lawmaker argued that politics was a game of number adding that growth in population was necessary to encourage economic and political stability. http://odili.net/news/source/2009/oct/9/401.html |

THE Federal Government has drafted heavily-armed soldiers to provide security for the ex-militant leader, Government Ekpomukpolo, alias Tompolo. Saturday Tribune gathered the deployment was in response to one of the demands of the former warlord before accepting the amnesty gesture. Our sister publication the Nigerian Tribune, had reported, last Wednesday, the three conditions given by Tompolo, but the Federal Government gave a feeble denial the following day. It was also learnt that the government further gave two new jeeps to facilitate the movement of the ex-warlord. Saturday Tribune saw the ex-“General Officer Commanding” of the militants in the Niger Delta with the soldiers and the jeeps last Tuesday, when he was hosted to a reception by his father in Warri, Delta State. At the end of the event, the former warlord entered one of the jeeps, accompanied by a soldier while the second was used as security escort with five soldiers. Meanwhile, the ex-militant leader is yet to turn in his over 3000 foot soldiers he promised to hand over to the amnesty rehabilitation committee in Warri. As of 3.00 p.m. on Friday when Saturday Tribune left the rehabilitation centre of the Federal Government, the militants that served under were yet to show up. http://www.tribune.com.ng/10102009/news/news4.html |

THE Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has predicted the disintegration of Nigeria in 2013, saying that the six geopolitical zones of the country will become independent states. MASSOB also insisted that despite contrary opinion, Biafran currency was still considered as legal tender in some neighbouring West African countries. The movement disclosed this through its Director, Mr. Uchenna Madu, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune after it celebrated the 10th anniversary of what it called its struggles for self-determination. Madu, who spoke with a team of Tribune reporters in Enugu, said the United States of America (USA) had already predicted the country’s disintegration, adding that this development would soon culminate in the deployment of 20,000 US soldiers to the Gulf of Guinea and the Niger Delta region. “I am happy to tell you that, right now, Nigeria, as an entity, has collapsed. The United States of America, through its intelligence agency called Africom, has predicted that Nigeria would collapse before 2013. The USA is expected to send 20,000 soldiers to Biafraland (Gulf of Guinea) and the Niger Delta region to safeguard America’s oil interest and the people of Biafra from any possible attack by the Nigerian government. The first batch is already in the Niger Delta and Eastern part of Nigeria,” he said. Madu explained that even the United Nations, on account of the numerous crises that Nigeria had faced in recent times, was aware of the development and that it would be ready to accept the outcome should the fate of the former USSR befall Nigeria. “The entity, Nigeria, will split into six independent states. Each of the six geopolitical zones will become an independent state. It cannot be reversed because the United Nations has come to understand that Nigeria, as an entity, is a camouflage because of its numerous crises. The general clamour is that we are not one. What happened in the USSR will take place in Nigeria. Biafra, Oduduwa, Arewa and others will emerge.” The MASSOB chief also said contrary to the insinuations that Biafran currency was not being spent again, the money was still being spent in neighbouring West African countries. He said in the Eastern part of Nigeria, the reality on the ground was that two governments were in operation. “Now, we have a de facto government in Biafra. We have appointed regional administrators numbering 40, who are equivalent to the serving civilian governors in the East. Each region has 30 directors in areas like agriculture, information, sports, finance, etc. We also have administrators, provisional administrators and district officers as well as commissioners and ward officers. “Equally, we have national directors, who are equivalent to ministers. “With this on ground, we have two governments in Biafraland. One is representing the Republic of Nigeria and the other represents Biafra Republic. The Nigerian government is de jure. But the de jure of Nigerian government is diminishing each passing day. For example, when we (MASSOB) declared a sit-at-home order, people obeyed us even when the Nigerian government countered it. Another example is the issue of Biafran currency. People have come to embrace it as legal tender. The Biafran international passport is in operation. In fact, the Biafran project is on course and nobody can crush the dream. On Biafra we stand. No retreat, no surrender,” he said. Madu added that the movement would soon introduce new Biafran currency so as to strengthen the money’s acceptability. “It appears that people are not using the money, perhaps, because the Biafran currency we introduced was the old one. We shall introduce new Biafran currency at the appropriate time. However, the Biafran currency is still being used in countries like Ghana, Republic of Benin and Togo.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/09102009/news/news2.html |
Thanks for the update. Only God can reward you - |
netotse:Stop kidding yourself - what about the countless atrocities committed by the Nigerian police. In every chaotic situations u will always find one element of good but it does not now mean that one good would influence the others. In the Nigerian context that one officer will be chastised by the colleagues and the boss for not getting a financial gain out of the situation. |
I totally subscribe to what Ghana is doing. Every nation has a right and should protect it local content unlike Nigeria where local jobs are going to the Chinese and Lebanese people can you imagine if the reverse would happen in the respective countries. Their has to be a quota in place for local protection Nigeria should get it act together then we will worry less whats going on in other countries |
A killer to execute another killer - what an irony |
absolute crap Is the writer saying Nigeria should reinvent an aeroplane, a locomotive, telephone and all the other things mentioned. Just because it has taken a country 200 years to get its act together should not mean Nigeria should take that Long. I beg to differ China,Singapore and dubai were created in the last 50 years. |
