The only way he can pay them back the money that was stolen is by allowing them to live rent free in the house till their money expires. Really wish i could follow up on this case so as to know the outcome. The landlord did not tell us whether the tenants refused to pay (as in owed him rent) or they said they would only pay 6 months first. Also, i think there is a fine if the landlord forcefully ejects a sitting tenant. |

I have a friend that just moved into a 2 bedroom flat with 2 toilets and 1 bathroom off Bode Thomas for N380k x 1 yr. Na wa for that shylock landlord. Please, just take your time and look harder. I am sure u will see better ones. |

Travel › Re: Customs Checks At Murtala Muhammad Airport, Lagos by blank(f): 4:42pm On Sep 06, 2011 |
thandie: Yes, customs officials at MMA are corrupt and infuriating. They delay you and unashamedly ask for bribes.
The right thing to do, do not give in. Stand your ground and refuse.
This will work if you are clean and stick to the rules of International travel.
But you see, a lot of Nigerians give in to these officials because they are carrying stuff they shouldn't be travelling with on an international trip. These officials will let you board with these items if you "grease a palm or two" and trust Nigerians, we are notorious rule breakers. We want to travel with that gallon of Palm oil and so would rather give them a bribe and travel with our contraband.
So i think we as a people also encourage their thievery and until we learn to adhere to simple rules will continue to face this problem with customs. Think about it, there is really no reason to part with a bribe or a "facilitation fee" if you have nothing to hide. Simply smile, say "no thank, you" and keep moving.
I have never had to part with a dime at the airport. I have been asked by those same officials, have politely refused and have moved on with no issues. Lets change our attitude as a nation and it will cascade to all facets of life. The bolded is not necessarily true. People have told you, on this thread, how they refused to give them anything and the Customs people made them miss their flights, subjected them to long humiliating unnecessary body searches, etc. You have been lucky but if those guys mean you, nothing fit help you. |
Car Talk › Re: Fhemmy Motors Presents: Auto Security Tips *Video Attached* by blank(f): 4:33pm On Sep 06, 2011 |
Sicherheit: Oga Fehmmmy, good job listing the signs for all the different problems. It is a good learning tool for other people.
Madam, after extensive research on Hyundai cars, it has become clear that TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE a common to Hyundais. Unfortunately, the signs for this problem is very similar to many other issues like the ones Fhemmmy has detailed.
Hyundai Transmission Slippage Symptoms
Transmission Shifting on its Own One of the signs of a slipped transmission on a Hyundai is when the gear shifts on its own to a lower gear than the one engaged. In particular, owners of the Hyundai Accent have reported this symptom as a problem. Other drivers have complained that while driving in a set gear, it will shift to the lowest gear on its own while the vehicle is moving. Moreover, it's been reported that after shifting to a lower gear, the driver is unable to shift to another gear. On such occasions, drivers have temporarily resolved the problem by turning the engine off then restarting it. However, once the vehicle restarts and is running, the problem usually recurs.
Jerking Another symptom of a slipped transmission in a Hyundai is jerking while driving. Again, this has commonly been reported in the Hyundai Accent. This can happen even when the gears are not in use. This jerking usually continues until the car reaches a lower RPM at which point the jerking lessens but doesn't fully subside. In some cases, this has happened after the troublesome transmission was changed and the new transmission put in place. The jerking usually prevents the car from accelerating and driving faster than 20 MPH.
Bucking While in Overdrive Bucking is another sign that the transmission could be slipping. When this happens, it causes the vehicle to speed up and slow down without effort from the driver. On such occasions, the RPM usually shoots up erratically. In some cases, this problem has surfaced just two years after purchase.
This the only other thing that can be the problem. This may be IT! The RPM does that and i did not think it was part of the problem. In fact, the speedometer does the same. Will let them know and then get back to you. |

It is very easy to counter it. The landlord will sue the tenant, whereva he runs to and collect his full rent with interest. That is the law. |

I wonder why it is such an issue? At the end of the year, the amt will still be the same, so what is the issue?
I had a meeting with my landlady and we settled rent issue and the PHCN issue. She has agreed to collect 6 months and will issue a receipt. Its no big deal. It is when you are dealing with agberos that is when there will be an issue. Any educated person will see that the rent will still enter your account. Nobody is trying to cheat you. |

I guess this is the closest we will get to a retraction from this "expert". Expert that does not know that a rule has been introduced since 2006 and is arguing based on ancient history.
If CAF was not using it, what rule was used to enable Angola qualify ahead of Nigeria for Germany 2006? I laugh in pidgin. |
