Good morning , I need help and clarification please, my agent is charging me an exuberant amount(289k) for Visa fee to Australia, website shows otherwise and is way lesser than they are charging me, if anyone has an idea On how much the fee is please help a confused sister! Thanks in anticipation
Please note that their Agency fee has been payed in full.
The student visa fee is AUD620, with the current exchange rate and charges in naira should be around 240k (+ or -). If you're not comfortable with your agent figure, get a dollar card and fund it then arrange for a time to go and pay.

Please I need advice from those with experience.

My wife got her COE yesterday after about two weeks of payment of school fees.

She will apply for visa today and we are 99% sure it will be granted because she has travelled to Australia before now and did not overstay.

Now my question, if she is granted the visa and international students are still not allowed into Aussie, what will she do?

Will she have to differ the admission? If she does will the visa be extended to accommodate the new dates?

Please I need answers as I am confused at this stage.
Hopefully the border will be open by March and if not, its either she starts online or defer, whichever way the Visa will not be extended and peradventure she defer, towards the end of her visa like 3months to go, She will request for an updated eCOE from her Uni and apply for Visa extension.
PS: About 80% of Nigerian students do extend their visa due to changing of school, program or dropping course load.

Thanks again for this helpful feedback...
The WSU campus for my Course is in Parramatta.

Another major challenge I'm facing at the moment is that most of the schools I've seen offering my course in regional areas and also some AL1 schools do not have PFL as their agent and I'm working with them already.

What do you advice please?...
Parramatta is not a regional area.
I can't specifically tell you what to do as the final decision lies with you. I am emphasising on regional areas due to recent happenings, a lot of students are at cross road haven finished school and exhausted their 485 and PR is not in sight, they have no other options other than going back to school in regional areas. Whatever your final decision is, make sure that you graduate from a place where you will be eligible for 190 or worst-case scenario 491.

Thank you for your response...
Do you advice I accept this offer and won't the program affect my visa chances?

Secondly, is Western Sydney University in a regional area? I really don't understand the regional area thing you mentioned please...
If you also have schools you can recommend for Social Work, that'll be fine too...

Thanks a lot...
The school is a Multi Campus Uni, find out the Campus offering your program whether it's within Sydney Metropolitan Suburb or not.
Advantages of schooling in regional area includes
* You get extra 5points for schooling in regional area.
* You stand a chance for state nomination.
* As from next year 485 (post study visa) for those that study in regional areas category one is 3years while those of category two is 4years.
The Metropolitan Suburbs of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are the non regional areas, avoid these places.
Look towards South Australia or Tasmania, you'll be eligible for 190 after your two years program.

Hello Everyone...
Hope you're doing great?

I just got an Offer from Western Sydney University but there's a little challenge.
I applied for Masters in Social Work but they gave me an offer to do a Postgraduate Bridging Program before starting my Masters degree in Social Work.

I am not pleased with this outcome and that's why I need some advice and suggestions.

On the other hand, I'm still expecting a response from Monash University which is the first school I applied to even though they've taken a long time to attend to my application. I'm still hopeful anyways and really look forward to something positive from them.

PFL is my agent...

What's my fate? What should I do? I need an advice please...

Thank you for your time and response to this headache of mine...
That means your qualification is not up to their minimum requirements for Social Work which means you have to do the bridgging program to meet up with their requirements for the program. Regarding Monash, not only is their School fees very expensive but also their requirements is higher as it is one of the leading Uni in ranking as well as medical research. I won't even advise you to go for Monash unless you want to use it in getting to Australia and change to a lesser paying school or you getting a scholarship because their is no point in paying close to 80k for Msc without getting points to boost your PR application aside 5points for Australian degree.
PS: With the recent happenings, target schools in regional areas and you maybe eligible for state/regional sponsorship as well as longer 485 (post study visa)

Also, is my masters(from Unilag) of any importance here?
Wow, many thanks for your swift response but what advise will you give me to be able to migrate. Thanks once more
Msc won't give you any extra point as it is the same point with Bsc, presently 189 doesn't come easy but you can look towards 190 and 491. Go to https://www.anzscosearch.com/search/ and search for Civil Engineering, look for states and regional nominations and work towards their requirements
for nomination.

Good morning great minds, many thanks to tunlex01 and others answering people's queries. I don't seem to understand how EA assessment works. Below is my profile, please advise:

Age : 29
Education : Masters (evaluated by WES already)
Married
Written ielts once and got 7.5 overall but planning yo rewrite to get minimum of 7 across all bands.
My wife will also write IELTS so i can get 5 points extra.
Work experience : 5+ years
Occupation: Civil Engineer

Using the calculator, i arrived at 75 points.

Should I go through the 189 route?

Is there a need for POF after ITA is granted?
All the info you needs about EA is here https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/For-Migrants
You only stand a chance of ITA for 189 Civil Engineering if you can gather up to 90points.

I graduate in 2011 and have been working in Construction and Engineering firms since them. I am still employed. What do you think will be the best reason I should give for going for Master in Engineering now. The reason I am thinking of giving, is to come back to Nigeria to occupy higher position as Project Manager in my current company and expand my family business (my name is in the CAC documents as part of the directors and I am also the 1st born) which is into construction and civil works. I intend to add some small contract award documents along with the business statement of account. I also have a bakery business which I intend to come back to (will include the statement of account and CAC documents). Please will these above show adequate family ties or do I need to add some else.

Please I need you guys help!!!
Support all your claims with employment letter, letter headed paper from the family business and liaise with your HR to give you a supporting letter. You can as well search online for samples of SOP.

Naijabad:
You can still obtain a PR but you must work towards obtaining a PhD. With that, you may be appointed to lecture in one of the public universities.

Alternatively, you can move to New Zealand. It is close to Australia. The age limit for PR is 55.
She can opt for New Zealand as you rightly said but going for PhD won't lead her to PR in as much as she is over 45yrs.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your response.

I was thinking of PR and looking at work permit when I'm done with school. Thought I would lose out on the points only didn't realize I won't be eligible. Wow!

Do you have any advice sir?
Rule out UK, your age is a red flag towards Canada and USA is somehow right now, consider Germany and Norway or better still, do your homework by searching a Western European country that will be favourable to you.

House I need advise before proceeding. I'm 44yrs and want to apply for my masters. Hubby and daughter will not be added until after 1 year of study.

Does Australia give student visa to people my age?
After 1 year, will my family be granted family visas.

Money will not be an obstacle. I'm just worried about age.

Thanks in advance
If your main goal is using study to get PR, I won't advise you to go ahead as you will be over 45yrs before you conclude your studies which is the maximum age for PR eligibility. This simply means you won't be eligible for PR after studies aside 2years post study work visa.

Bligs,

Please I am 36 and never been married and I am applying to an AL2 in Western Australia. I am applying for Master of Engineering in Edith Cowan University. What can I provide to prove strong family ties. Please help
Explain in details your educational gap and why you are going for Masters now, if you are employ that's a bonus, just get a letter from your employer stating that you are taking a leave to further your education and coming back to fill a higher position in the organisation. Your SOP should centre on going to Australia for the purpose of study alone and emphasis on going back to naija after studies.

Randomly came across this page and it has been very informative.

I obtained my PhD few years ago and lecture in Nigeria.

I'm currently in search of a postdoc in Australia preferably around Tasmania or South Australia.

Any advice or links on available positions in Universities or Research Institutes will be much appreciated..
To be honest, this is a very hard one as most schools if not all prefer to employ their PhD students to fill this role. You may stand a chance if your PhD is from USA or Uk but naija PhD, i doubt it.
PS: I know of two Nigerians in this role, one in Queensland University of Technology and the other in Deakin University and they are both former PhD students of these schools.

Sir, the school I chose was an Al2 institution and the course I applied for was still inline with my Bsc. I graduated 2015 and I have bn working in that same field since then. In my SOP, I stated that I'll be accompanied by my kids and husband although my husband will be coming back after we get settled. I also mentioned that I have had visa denial in the past (canada but it was a tourist visa) however, I have been to the USA and did not over stay. All these and more were stated in my SOP b4 I was given an Offer letter although it took them close to a month to grant me the conditional offer. I had two sponsors (my elder bro and my uncle) and their bank statement altogether was 25m
No strong home ties, is your husband working and did you include it in your SOP?
Did you make arrangements to fulfill the condition in your offer before applying for grant?
The good thing is that you can try again but go for AL1 Uni and a more convincing home ties.

85points(including state nomination points )
Any hope for NSW invite ??
Go to ANZCOSEARCH, search for civil engineering and go through the backlog, and you will see those that have express interest for 189, States and Regional areas. This will give you an insight of the number of people on the queue, those that have more points than you and those invited in the last 3months.
The first screenshots is EOI points (190) for civil engineering as at today while the second one is total number of EOI for each states and ACT.

To put it in context, i cancelled out that part cause I really don't know what you are up to.

There's less than 2k people with the job title Engineering Managers in Australia. The data is available. Check Australia bureau of statistics, i won't do the easy job for you bringing that proof to your doorstep since it seems your motive is to demotivate me.

Engineering Management degree has diverse career path way and I am starting out my own as a Project Coordinator and grow through the ranks.

I said project coordinator is a graduate trainee role and there are entry level project management role too when you brought up your skewed thinking and I quote "Let me be honest with you and I stand to be challenge, no one will employ you as a project coordinator/manager in Australia without a local experience or at least experience from a 1st world country in engineering"

Mr bligs please avoid me cause I don't know why you will tell me the bolded when I'm not competing with you or something. Abi you be village people?

And oh yes! I'll quote you when the time is right for my testimony.
Why will i demotivate you when i passed exactly the same route with just different Bsc? I can tag 4 ppl from RMIT and 3 from Deakin that study this same course to shed more light for you and you don't even have the luxury of time if your main target is using Engineering Manager to get PR. My thinking may be skewed to you but you will definitely know better upon your arrival.

Well, local experience, 1st world country experience are factual but are also stereotypes that can limit anyone that does not know what s/he is doing.

Project coordinator and entry level project manager are graduate trainee roles with little or no experience and fantastic command of soft skills.

The professional year program is also there to make the transition easier from graduating from uni to getting a job.

Also, the good thing about me is I know what to leverage on to make me standout.

God willing, everything will work out well.

Anu ni morigba!!

Cheers!
God sparing our lives, in 2 to 3years time when you're done with your studies, i will quote you or you quote me and remind me of this post about how far you have gone becoming an engineering manager.
Goodluck.

Yes, the tasks of an Engineering Manager is glued to my brain.

I'll make further findings but nevertheless I can use my B.Eng Che Engineering degree to access with EA though what I actually thought was I just need to have 1 year post Msc working experience doing the task(Project Coordinator/manager) of an Engineering-Manager to enable me access as an EM since I have the EM degree which is not readily available for undergraduate study.
Let me be honest with you and I stand to be challenge, no one will employ you as a project coordinator/manager in Australia without a local experience or at least experience from a 1st world country in engineering. As you rightly said, you can access with your Bsc while Engineering Management will give you extra 5points.

Hello great people.
I have a sister running a master's program in Australia; please is the pr application for her easier from there?

Is it same process with what's on this thread?
Whether you are onshore or offshore is still the same process, just that she will get extra 5points for one or more Australian degree, extra 5points if she study in a regional area and 2 to 3years of post study work visa depending on her program (research or coursework) and location. Some states may as well sponsor her if she's eligible for sponsorship.

Urgent Advice is needed here please

I got my Visa granted last month, then last week I received a Mail from the School saying that they will not be able to offer my course, Advicing to change to another related course!

My Question is this,

1, will my Visa be affected if I change the course while in Nigeria here?
2, if I ignore the mail from the School, to do the change of course when I get to Australia, will school report to Immigration on that regard?

Kind advice is needed urgently...
God bless us all
Not only your school, Unis like Melbourne Uni, Monash and even Uni. of Sydney have to cancel intake for some courses for the next two years due to Covid effects, follow the school directives and also your visa will not be affected.
Upon arriving, you may not end up changing course alone but eventually changing school. Whatever decision you want to take, make sure that you're onshore and be enroll at any point in time on student visa.
