Why this matters: The revelations present a dramatic 11th hour turn in Trump's Senate impeachment trial. They directly contradict Trump's claim that he never tied the hold-up of Ukrainian aid to his demands for investigations into his political opponent Joe Biden.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has already seized on the New York Times story, tweeting: "John Bolton has the evidence. It's up to four Senate Republicans to ensure that John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, and the others with direct knowledge of President Trump's actions testify in the Senate trial."

What's new: Sarah Tinsley, an adviser to Bolton, told me: "The ambassador's manuscript was transmitted to the White House for pre-publication review by the NSC. The ambassador has not passed the draft manuscript to anyone else. Period. It was sent over there, to the NSC, several weeks ago."

Tinsley would not comment on the contents of the book reported in the Times story.

It is ranked above Egypt and South Africa who are 2nd and 3rd respectively while Ghana and Rwanda made it to top 10 at 9th and 10th respectively

CNN)One rocket hit a dining facility Sunday on the compound of the US Embassy in Baghdad, a US official told CNN.

The official said at this early stage there are reports of minor damage.

Neither the Pentagon nor the State Department have made public any reports of injuries and have not returned requests from CNN for comment on the incident.

Rep. Michael McCaul, the lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs committee, said in a tweet Sunday that he is "closely monitoring reports of a rocket attack targeting the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad."

"Violent acts against our diplomatic facilities are simply unacceptable. We must ensure the safety of American diplomats, troops and other Americans in Iraq."

Adil Abdul Mahdi, the prime minister of Iraq, condemned the attack and said Iraqi forces have been ordered to "deploy, search, and investigate to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, and to arrest those who launched these rockets so that they can be punished."

The Prime Minister said the Iraqi government is "committed to protecting all diplomatic missions and taking all necessary measures to achieve this

In an unclaimed attack on the American installations in Iraq, a number of rockets fell near the United States embassy in Baghdad on Sunday, security sources said. They added that at least five Katyusha rockets fell near the US embassy in the Iraqi capital. No casualty have been reported so far.

Apart from the US embassy, some other foreign diplomatic missions are located in the area where the attack took place on Sunday. According to the security sources, three rockets hit near the high-security compound. Another said as many as five struck the area.

In a statement, Iraq's security forces said five rockets hit the high-security Green Zone in Baghdad. The security forces' statement did not mention the United States embassy.

Green Zone is in Central Baghdad, where government buildings and diplomatic facilities are located. Notably, the Iraqi Parliament is also located in the same area.

The rocket fire comes two days after thousands massed in Baghdad in response to a call by populist cleric Moqtada Sadr for a rally to demand the ouster of the US troops from Iraq.

The attack has come a few days after three rockets hit near the US embassy in Baghdad's high-security Green Zone.

The development comes in the wake of escalated tensions in the region following the US killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq earlier this month. Qasem Soleimani, the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards' elite Quds Force, was killed in a US drone strike ordered by US President Donald Trump at Baghdad International Airport on January 3.

After the death of General Qassem Soleimani, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed "severe revenge" after the United States killed General Qassem Soleimani, the chief of Iran's elite Quds Force, in an airstrike at the Baghdad airport on Friday.

"With him gone, God willing, his work and his path will not be stopped, but severe revenge awaits the criminals who bloodied their foul hands with his blood and other martyrs' in last night's incident. All enemies should know that the jihad of resistance will continue with a doubled motivation, and a definite victory awaits the fighters in the holy war," Khamenei said in a statement telecast by the state TV.

The police belongs to the federal government.

If you have a president that respects Human Rights with precedence, a governor somewhere would not use federal government apparatus to carry out tyranny.
