Quick question:

Did you guys pay all cash for the delivery OR Did you guys use insurance?

If you used insurance how much premium did you pay?

Whenever you’re available do you mind giving a total breakdown of the cost of giving birth in Canada?

We paid our of pocket and it's relatively cheaper than our US option.
The only downside was the driving, we should have flown. I'll give a breakdown hopefully before the end of the month.

This pikin like to cry sha. E no dey stop cry.

Its 16hrs by road and 1hr 15mins by air. I just have the fear of being turned back at the airport. I got no money to waste. I mailed the canada officials, they were not even making sense.

My own challenge is my MIL. She has her reservations about m. I guess she expecting the day her daughter will say " Sam left me" lol. Other than that u believe im good.

To my own lil understanding, how will your baby claim US Citizenship if he/she was born in Canada.

Is it automatic because Parent is a citizen or paperworks need to be filed?

You don't need a passport per say but you need to apply for ETA if you're traveling by air.

U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents may use their I-551 ("Green Card"wink -- instead of a passport -- for travel between Canada and the United States, by air, land, or sea. The I-551 is accepted for entry to Canada, from the U.S.; a U.S. permanent resident does not require a visa to visit Canada, regardless of citizenship. When re-entering the U.S., permanent residents must present their I-551. Note that starting March 15, 2016, U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents will require Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to Canada.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g153339-s602/Canada:Crossing.The.Border.html

A baby is automatic US citizen if one or both parents at the time of birth, is a US citizen. We had to register with the embassy for overseas birth. And we processed the Canadian papers.

So, Canadian by virtue of being born in Canada, US and Nigerian citizenship from parents. Yes, the citizenship is automatic. Can be done at the US embassy abroad ( overseas birth registration) or within the US.

Our challenges are similar. Mine is majorly from my sister in-law. I made a mistake, I admit fault and I've apologize. (No, I didn't cheat on my wife). But my wife's sister has "crosshairs" on me.

I'm actively trying to set her up with someone. She needs a distraction since her last "relationship". Problem is I don't think she's ever dated someone of color. She's very opinionated.

PS: cultural differences is giving my marriage a huge challenge.

Keep me in your prayers.

The little things you never thought is a big deal, is kinda a big deal.

Oh, Mrs K is good.. it's not her per say. Now that a baby is involved, everyone suddenly has an opinion. A strong one at that.

Before u go Blowjobs, make i ask question.

My passport expires June 29, 2019. I have a wedding april 19 to 22 in canada. Will that be a problem considering i wont have 3 or 6 months validity as at d time of travel

You don't need a passport to go to Canada (if you're driving. I highly recommend driving if you don't plan to renew your passport).Just your Green card

By air, you'd need a non expired passport regardless of the number of months to expiry date

Like I said, living in America won't make you rich. You'll be comfortable, really comfortable. However, don't overlook your comfort, overstretch your earnings and put yourself in debt bacause you are too comfortable.

When I want to trade in my car, I though about it over and over and over before I decided to settle for the new one due to maintenance, durability, cost and also the incentives I was giving trading my old car in.

I have been excellent with my payments monthly and has improved my credit. If everything works well, I see myself paying it off in 2-3years.

My next course of action is going back to school. I plan doing it without student loan and still can't figure out where the scholarship or money will come from. Or how to juggle a baby, wife, school and work at the same time.

In the same post I told you America is easy, I am telling you America is hard.

You see why we can't reply your chat on FB messager when you send us "hi", we initially replied "hello, how are you" then you replied "I'm good and you", we replied "Fine, sup"

You now go ahead and reply "we thank God", "how's the family" "how's work" "how's the weather".

Who get time for all those? When I'm trying to get out of work so I don't miss my Eye appointment. Smh.

They are not the same.

This your way of thinking though, there is more to life than visa free countries and that's definitely not on any of his lists for the choice of Canada. I'm sure if his wife is not a USC, he would not bother with Canada birthing. Having a Canadian citizenship for someone who is eligible for a USC is just a bonus, the US offers more than Canada.

Who visa free help lol.

Elaborate on your racism experiences

Sometimes, it is hard to explain if you don't live here.

Many times, we as immigrants see the racism as acceptable (to us) bacause we have faced far worse in our own country.

None of it is acceptable

All of una asking for recommendations for doing site, I laugh you all.

I think I should talk more about how I met Mrs K.

I created a group on meet up for exchange students and Americans to meet and interact for if someone needs a ride, want to buy a bike or accommodation. It was suppose to be for the city I lived in but people from other cities joined. However, the group didnt function much cos people posted in their language especially the Filipinos. People preferred to use the FB group by agency ppl. Mrs K volunteered to give people in her city ride to go see the fireworks for 4th of July, she msg admin, I posted it. Nobody was interested. Few days later, someone from the city texted me about needing help. She said she's available the following day, I arrange meeting, the person was nowhere to be found. I personally called her to apologize and follow up text and rest is history....

But that isn't even the juicy part of the story.

Also, it’ll be a new year soon. And the unpredictablility of Nigeria is higher with the elections next year. The major candidates are already bad choices and we are not even sure what happens if (when) Buhari looses. The parties seem desperate for the elections.

Set the ball rolling and prepare for the new year. Launch that business plan you think will put more money into your pocket.

Grab that travel opportunity you think will help your migration process
I’ll also like to advise, if you get a US visit visa, please use it more than once before you overstay it (if you ever plan to do that). I know it is wrong, however majority of Nigerian visa holders will overstay. It’s best you don’t do it on your first entry on a B1/B2. Doesn’t look good on your adjustment of status

My orientation has changed, life has been good and be in btw jobs.

My fav part is quitting jobs at will saying "Bleep it, can't do this no more lol"

LOL. You're still overly excited. However, I'll encourage you to stick to a job. For the benefits and also for future prospects of mortgage application.

Before you stabilize your business cos you seem like the person fully interested in business opportunities.

Ps: let naija people know you have no money. Lol

Nobody go know sef... i am actually planning to go with my wife spend two weeks and come back but then anytime i dream going to nigeria, then i will have a nad dream lol..

I guess i should write my interview transcript here for people to learn.

Please write your interview transcript. Nairaland needs all the wealth of info it could get on Adjustment of Status

I'd advise you suspend naija visit for now. Send half of the flight money to your family/friends you plan to see in Naija. I belive that hells better.

I havent gone a single week without someone not asking me about how to leave naija.
Even one of my friend from high school added all my wife's friends on FB.

That was a really creepy thing to do but I guess he's trying to shoot his shot (lmao)

Not all white girls are into black dude. Not all Yoruba girls wants a guy from Imo state regardless of his numbers of containers

What kind of questions? My main problem of going to Nigeria. I know going out will be smooth but coming bsck in, whew!!.. my main fear is being refused entry, i would have travelled to Nigeria this dec or Jan but im scared lol

LOL don't be. You'll most likely gave secondary inspection but nothing to worry about. They will verify your address, work and your spouse details. Don't ever forget the informations you gave to USCIS during the application process.

And wetin you dey find go naija especially during the holiday period close to elections? Naija ppl get red eye right now ooo due to most state govt not paying. Don't let one bad relative kidnap you for ransom abeg. Dem go think say you grt moni

Earlier on this thread, someone asked me about racism and if I've faced some form of it and I said no. I take that back. Bleep that sh.it it's a different ballgame if you live here.

I have faced different kinds of it. Interestingly, I prefer the open ones. The one that made it clear they just don't like you. The subtle one is more dangerous.

Also, I'm having problems reading ladies nowadays. I dont know if they are being friendly of flirting with me. Or if I am the enabler. However, I have stayed out of trouble.

I am glad to hear that bro. 3more years and you're a citizen. I really can't wait.

So, we will be giving birth in Montreal and the plans is all set as long as there's no complications. It'll be our 3rd visit to Canada together. We were in Toronto earlier. No problem entering Canada with a green card but coming back to US was like war. So so many checks and questions lol.

I particularly enjoy the Se trim. I so love it

Mrs K is good. We are at 28 weeks and EDD is fast approaching. She's been cranky, moodly. Nothing out of the ordinary though. She still got no ass (sad!!) lol. However she's good.

She's made more money and I can't be prouder and it's our Anniversary (can you believe it lol).

You know you actually get a temporary green card stamped in your passport immediately at POE that’s good for a year.

Have a nice evening.

oh that's true and it is as good as the cardcos it can be used to apply for jobs, Drivers license, Social security. I didn't go through that process so i am not entirely sure how it works. i just knew it is really long. I have a friend from brazil waiting for his interview date for like 7 months now. Consular processing sucks kinda..

Are you saying you started the process in 2mths and at the end of 2mths 3 days u got it?

Bros you dey lie.

State your time line? When did your processing start, when did you get interview date, and when did u eventually get the GC?

My sibling got the GC from Nigeria not even in the USA and the process started almost a year to when it was eventually concluded. The 10years GC was sent like a month upon arrival to usa.

People can so form what is not here.

Or am I missing something here?

yes i did. I did Adjustment of Status. I documented everything here on Nairaland. it is all on my thread. I applied in January and by April i have my card and started a new job grin
