I am off today.

So i said earlier, things are suppose to be easier after getting a residency?

Hell no. I take that back. Don't get me wrong, i am doing remarkably okay. But i am stressed out. holy shhhit, I am stressed out.

I work in boston. Pay in boston is relatively higher. I get paid 21.75$ starting and i work 40-47hrs per week. I get two days off. I am however, sick of the driving. The traffic is terrible. I spent 2 hours in a 45-50mins drive. I have to pay 9$ to park everyday (they are increasing it to 16$ cos other parking garage is 16$). I have been applying to other jobs and doing interviews. I just haven't found something yet.

Getting a job is hard. DOn't get me wrong, there are jobs everywhere BUT once you become LEGAL (no more on a visa), you become so picky, your qualifications and how it can help your career path or a paying job comes to play.

I have become so picky. I have no passion to work long hours or Nights right now.

Right now, i just wanna find something closer so i don't have to drive far. I have two interviews scheduled for the rest of the week for now. I hope i get something.

Let me go back and sleep some more grin grin

Let me share another motivation with my naija youths here

I cried when we moved 2weeks ago to a new appartment.
I went through some of my old things cos my wife wants us to donate what we don't need. Inside one of my books from naija, í saw the rest of my Alawi from 2013 that I didn'tspend. Then I remembered I got late to the airport due to traffic and airport workers were trying to delay me so I can "Roger" them. I had intended to spend that money on buying credit so I can call my family when I land but didn't have time. I hid it between one of my books so they don't take it from me

l remembers the struggles I went through and I am thankful

Like I said, if there's a job already waiting for you after service I wish you good luck.
If you know you don't have no clear direction for where you life is going with all the efforts you're putting in, while you apply for jobs I will encourage you to also start applying to migrate. You only have one life to live

I can attest to it. Once you leave naija and you have a solid plan, you'd be surprised the pace by which your life will move.

In case you have a green card and planning a mini vacation:

Note: This list excludes countries that allow visa-free travel with valid U.S. visas (for example, Costa Rica,[64] Dominican Republic,[65] Mexico,[66] Panama)[67] Also note that the Green Card holder might already have visa-free access to many destinations by virtue of the nationality already held.

Albania: 90 days within 180 days
Antigua and Barbuda: 30 days
Bahamas: 30 days[68]
Belize: permanent residents of the USA can obtain a visa on arrival, provided prior approval is obtained from Belizean Immigration (fee USD 50). Visitors may also have to pay a repatriation fee.
Bosnia and Herzegovina: 90 days within 180 days
Bermuda[69]
British Virgin Islands: 1 month[70]
Turks and Caicos Islands: 30 days
Canada: 6 months[71] ETA required for travel by air[72]
Caribbean Netherlands (Netherlands Antilles, Bonaire, Aruba, Sint Maarten or Curaçao): 30 days[73]
Costa Rica: 30 days[74]
Cayman Islands: 30 days[75]
Domanica: 6 months
Dominican Republic: 30 days[76]
Georgia: 90 days within 180 days
Guatemala: 90 days
Honduras: 3 months
Jamaica: 6 months
Mexico: 180 days[77]
Nicaragua: 3 months
Panama: 90 days
Serbia: 90 days[78]
Montenegro: 30 days
Taiwan: 30 days max. for holders of a ROC (Taiwan) Business and Academic Travel Card, issued by Republic of China (Taiwan).
Kosovo: 15 days[79]

maybe someday this week, i'll talk about "arangee" marriage and what i truly think about it.

About guy M, he has been texting me. He can't find someone stable to work for him and the season has picked up full-time grin grin

I advise him to look out for Immigrants. those are the people that will be willing to give their all to work for him. Citizens are too entitled for that kind of work. (Imagine, 80$ everyday for like 5 hrs.. Na wah o)

Brother,
I like the encouragement that you have given the youth (which is the target audience of this thread),
But the reality is, I'm sure that there are some "37" or "40" or even "50" year olds who have read or are reading this thread and have been inspired (but for whatever reason) have not yet accomplished their goal/dream of coming to the U.S....
Do u have any words of encouragement to give them?
Cause I'm a firm believer in "seemingly impossibilities being realities" through God.
I'm sorry for interrupting your writing....
Not trying to derail.

That is why i said advise for youths. younger, more agile Nigerians.

it is easier for Young person to acclimatize and gets things done faster than older person. Cold weather isn't too hard on the young ones. Younger people are easy to adapt to new ways of life. Do all the fun, muscle-requiring stuffs while you're younger. Do all the queuing in front of embassy inside the hot scorching sun while you're young.

Not that older people don't get to travel and start new life. However, imagine what could have been achieved if started earlier

Thank you all for all the well wishes.

This is an experience i'll never forget. As i look to another phase of "hustle" and starting a family. I am just a regular guy trying to live a moderate, comfortable and happy life.

A lot of things have changed since i got my Permanent resident. I have a new car, we moved to a new bigger and better appartment. Mrs K co-signed credit cards for me 7900$ and 10000$ limit (she has excellent credit score which is helping me build my credit and i have been paying anything i buy using credit card back. I don't buy using credit card unless i have the money in my debit card).

I have a better job. I am more comfortable. i am more relaxed. I look forward to going back to school with no restrictions. I am so thankful for what i have accomplished in my short time of living here.

Like i said in the past. A lot of us don't dream of being rich. We just want to be comfortable: good car, money in the bank, can spend money when you need to, good hospital, Electricity, Water. Good life generally.

questions interview officer asked

what is your full name and your wife's name
what is her date of birth? . where were you born? what city? what city was your spouse born? when did you last come to united states? what visa did you come with? what is your mother and father's name? has anyone filed for your green card before? do you have children anywhere in the world? how did you meet your spouse? where did you go on your first date? when did you guys move in together? who were present at your wedding? where did your spend your Christmas? who woke up first day before interview? what are your wife's work hours? when was the last vacation you took together? did you file your taxes together? how much is your rent and phone bills? what is your wives phone number?

it was an easy experience. the IO was really nice. we went on to tell stories of my time in the Caribbean and the islands he has visited.
he said he will approve us cos things are good and should get the card in a week. he told us about removing condition and encourage me to apply for citizenship once i qualify for it. that's all.

Interview Experience

My wife and I were interviewed separetely. It was like 45minutes in total.

We argued days before the interview. Mrs K thinks all the documents we are organizing is not necessary. I told her it is best we have enough and they didn't ask than we don't have it and they asked us.

I kept similar documents in same files and label it: The USCIS notices and correspondences, Bills and Utilities, Joint tax document for 2017 plus bank statements, Copies of forms submitted, Cards and letters recieved from Mrs K family members, Flight itinerary and bus tickets of our trips together, Photo album from the day we met each other till current etc.

The night of the interview, i went over the details of each folder with Mrs K so she will be sure where to find each documents
We got to our interview 30 minutes early. There wasn't anyone there except us. Interviewing officer called my wife in first. They talk and talk and talk. My mind was going crazy. What can they be talking about this long? My wife can't keep a secret so i feel they must have been discussing all my secrets and plotting to end me, LOL

After sometimes, the IO came and got me, told Mrs K to wait. We did the oath thing, He went through the form with me (Form I485) to make sure all the info was correct.
Then he started asking questions he already asked Mrs K

A word of advise for Nigerian youths (University undergraduates, graduates, Corpers and recently employed youth).

If you plan to migrate ( you look forward to it, dream about it, Nigeria frustrates you, you get depressed with the situation going on in Nigeria), Migrate while you are young and have all the strength to "struggle". Don't wait till you get older. Don't wait and keep hoping Nigeria will get better (it might never be). it is best you achieve your dreams now and acquire so much skill so that when that time comes and Nigeria is better, you have so much to give back to Nigeria (or it is best you have options so that when you move back to Nigeria, if things don't work, you can bring out your foreign passport and leave at ease)

Don't be that person at 40 years old running from Embassy to Embassy.
Don't be that person at 40years old looking for ways to move his/her family outside Nigeria. Don't be that person writing English test, GRE, GMAT, Filling out Immigration questionnaire at 37years old. DO IT NOW if you really look forward to migrating. The time to start is NOW!!!

you only have one life to live. Do you wanna live it with constant Electricity or Generator noise?. The choice is yours.

For married/ Family people, I really don't have an advise for you. I just hope you have the skills, Experience and qualifications that will open doors and opportunities for you. That is the only thing you can depend on when thinking about Migrating

Let me post a clearer picture cos you guys deserve to see it.

It feels so good. The feeling of not having too much worries about visas and travel and job opportunities keep me at ease.

Remember when I told you guys about the unavoidability of bills and fines, here's some gist grin

There's something we call Ipass, it's a device you put on your car dashboard which enables you to automatically pay your toll fees without stopping your car on the expressway. For each time you pass a toll booth, it's recorded on their system, then at the end of the month, the fee is deducted from your bank account. My mum has one in her car but didn't know it was faulty. So, she had been driving past the toll booths without paying the fees, some days back, we recieved this in the mail grin

Observe the toll fees itself, and the penalties attached grin

EZPASS?

Yeah?

Interview scheduled after less than 2 months? That is insanely fast! Is it the Green Card interview or Biometrics interview?
I think the Notice of interview document you got was for Biometrics not for the green card interview because USCIS does not work that fast. They have to get your biometrics, do background checks, process your application and this usually takes a minimum of 4 months.

Bro check the document you received again, I am pretty certain it is for a Biometrics interview not a Green Card interview

E shock me too. I found out AOS is pretty fsst aound here. Like i said immigrants no plenty around here. Na so so white (mostly Americans) people everywhere.
Average processing here is like 3 months.

That's sad though.

Her should check with other agency. That isnt the rule on Dept. Of State's website.

The most loyal women are the single mothers. tongue If you treat them right, they will forever remain grateful.

I strongly disagree

Most single mothers i have seen are toxic. Any misstep by you, they will ruin you forever!!!

They will take out their frustration on you. If you are a single guy (no kids, never been married), look elsewhere, aim "higher".

If at all, you fall in love, choose someone that isn't compromising on you because she made bad decisions in her life

A lot of them just want you to play "Daddy" to another man (or men)'s kids. They hardly love you bro.

@ Blowjobs: About your point on girls preferring text to calls, it depends on the girl in question.

Some Nigerian girls, here, still prefer to communicate on the phone most of the time. In fact, a friend once said that she will never take a guy who texts most of the time, serious.

But if you referring to girls of other nationalities or races i.e. Whites, Arabs, Latina etc, in my experience, they do not mind if texts make up 90% of your communication between they and you.

bro, i wish i met a Nigerian girl. I want to eat Naija food. grin grin

i'm sure lot of people on this thread don't wanna meet naija girls when they enta yankee. They want to explore first. That's why i gave them those tips

Quick question
@blowjobs @Mackynaija
please you guys should help me out on steps and preferred country to go...and possible budget
I have a degree in Building Tech..(so I'll love to go to a country with good construction industry)
I'll start service this year

So can you please give me a break down on what I need to know?

Abeg, this country Don tire me

One does not just travel out because he is tired of Nigeria. you need a plan and money and no one can recommend a country for you to migrate. That has to be your destiny. Some people come to the US and failed miserably, some went to Ghana and made it. Some didn't even leave Nigeria and still doing amazingly. First, seek out your destiny.. Have a plan and goals, work towards them

Hello boss...you've been in the states for a while now... Please how's football over there??
I'm an amateur footballer and and 18 years of age... I'm considering coming to the states to play football... Probably for a semi pro team or an academy but dont know how to go about it.
I thought of applying for an f1 visa but I'll definitely be out of status because i might not go for classes and i don't want anything that will jeopardize my stay in the states or that will come back and haunt me later in the future...
Please do you have any advice for me??
Probably if there's any academy around that might want to invite me or something.
My flight fare and all is intact.
My plan is to enter usa in the rightest way and with my mind at rest ...Nothing else.
sorry if my question might be silly..
I just dont want to make any mistake..
Thanks in advance

There are so many Amateur league (non profit, local organizers, no salary involved, just volunteering stuffs). you will have fun playing but might not make a lot of money. If you are really good though, the opportunities are there. you can work your way up from there. I will however encourage you to be legal to do that.

The thing is, if you are good, you will be popular, d girls wants you (popularity+girls= Trouble). so, maybe you should find a way to legalize your stay first, get a job while you do and play football for fun on your free time. You might be lucky
