Abeg, make una dey manage me not posting frequently. the main thing on my mind is my green card. I don check my application taya.

I have been reading about the interview process. My madam talking point for some days now na "babe, don't worry" "babe, it's ok. you're already a citizen. They just haven't given you your passport".

I have to be honest with you. A lot of Americans don't know what it entails to be resident or naturalize. They just think it is as easy as A,B,C.

There is so much misinformation going on in today's America. People have willfully refused Knowledge in Recent times. The political climate is so tense (most especially about Immigration). A lot of people don't go with facts anymore. They deal with things that align with their point of view. It is tiring having to explain to people how the immigration system works

Guy M and Guy R falls in these categories. guy R happens to be more knowledgeable though. He is willing to listen to your point of view. but guy M is another story. He has shown me so much misinformation he saw on Facebook or heard on FOX news so many times. I had to explain to him several times how these things work. But since it didn't appeal to his view point, he disregards them.

one example is that he strongly believe undocumented immigrants are claiming social security benefits (it is false. Undocumented/illegal immigrant and even legal permanent residents who newly arrived in the US do not qualify for almost all benefits)

He also believes people are bringing their sister, bothers, parents, nephew, cousins, etc to the US. This is not entirely true. only people that has immigration benefits are direct relations of a United states citizens (spouse, siblings and parents) and even at that, for siblings, the wait time is so long. You are better off winning the lottery.

My point is there is a wave of willful/blatant ignorance flooding the US right now through every information medium. People don't get into Arguments anymore with facts.

PS: guy M's family is from Italy. He speaks fluent Italian. His mum and her sisters fled Italy to seek better opportunity in America where she met her husband (guy M's Dad) who also came from Italy during those years that Italy was the biggest Shithole

*Adjustment of Status update*

Biometrics scheduled for this coming week. Everything moving steady. I am so ecstatic. Shining my 32 everywhere grin. All those people wey dey always look at me like "go back to your country" (i am assuming lol). I go show dem pepper when Pali land. Me sef go get HALF bragging right grin grin

Also, we filed our taxes. We are getting back around 6,050$ filled jointly.

If we filled separately, i'll get around ($1,300) while my madam will get $3470. Mrs K knows all the tax abracadabra and how to maximize all deductions. She added both cars and claim work mileages on them also claim car registrations, insurance, travels etc.

One thing i seem to enjoy during this period is that we see each other a lot. times we were both working full time, we hardly see each other. I do however, miss work and all those extra extra cash. Can't wait to get back to grinding even harder with something so much better.

From Franknetter's thread, i see that he is now a CNA ( who no like money grin). I also think him working at BG especially being a PR holder na waste of energy. It is understandable though, experience na experience especially for JJC immigrant.

CNA around Massachusetts (Boston and other areas) gets paid handsomely. So, if you are a new immigrant and you quickly wan start to dey "ball", CNA na another option to consider.

They only need you to send in a photocopy of the birth certificate and then come in with the original during your interview. If you didn't receive an RFE on that there is no problem. They dont need it at the biometrics .Just follow the instruction on the letter and you will be good
Thank you

Hey bro, please I have a question to ask about the summer work stuff from other countries. I don't know if you know about this but can international students in countries like Ukraine and Russia get a chance for the summer work program cuz the summer holiday in those countries last for about 2 and a half months or so. I heard that you need to have a four- months holiday to partake in the program.

Yes you can. You have to apply early. There's usually mad rush for each sponsor to fill their quotas.

I knew it, people will soon fish you out. It is very easy to detect u for those who kno u b4, because u told us u went to sch in carribean after NYSC in Nigeria and now u are in d US, common how many people went through that route?

Even me that do not kno u b4 could detect u if I wanted to.

You left some traces too, like in d beginning of d thread u mentioned d region of ur state and in one of ur ist few pictures, there was d name of a town (in a popular state in New England) on a signboard that alone is a confirmation of d state where u reside.

Telling us ur wife home state is another information that could reveal ur identity.

You also told us ur wife flooded ur facebook with wedding pictures.

I could do some reverse tracking on ur yahoo ID submitted to Nl and fish u out also.

In summary, be careful and ur welfare is more important, if u have to stop this thread or delete some posts/pictures or deactivate ur account, pls do.

You have a good heart for reaching out to Nigerians but your interest comes first, shalom.

i say too much. Now the govt will know why wife is growing weed grin and i have unreported/Unauthorized "employment" not linked to my SS

plus i haven't been speaking with my family for a while now, Now i might need their help to get me some documents for the process (i am stress free and sleep better, i do however miss them).

I am screwed eitherways. No need to panick tho, grin grin

All of Una FBI nairaland people here sending PM without no tangible questions to ask, Kudos!!!. grin grin

@blowjobs Congrats on you application
I just received my letter from USCIS requesting me to appear for the green card interview(I have uploaded the letter). It took a year between the time I applied and the time I received my interview letter. However the actual time varies depending on the state you live in. My brother applied for a Green card and it took him about 10 months.

I always tell folks that you do NOT need a lawyer to apply for a green card. Just read the instructions carefully and ensure you send ALL the documents requested for. In fact add jara to the documents to strengthen your case. The great thing about America is the fact that the system works and you don't need to know or grease some official to get things done

My interview is next month and once it is done I will upload the transcript of the interview.

Bro. I have a question.
What sorta birth certificate did you submit?. It seems my NPC birth certificate isn't acceptable.

I got my biometrics letter today. But from what i have been reading and what my oga Lionell told me our naija birth certificatw na error404

Kindly inform me what cert you submitted. Thank you

well done bros

At least you give us something to look at except from this letters saga exchanging hands back to back.

You can do some freelancing now that it looks like you are less busy. Writing is a good way to cool off and it works perfectly for me and i dont want to sound so assuring but you can still try it out. Fades a lot of stress. I still saw your intrest in photography too, that is also a hobby worth dying for too.

What of Her Majesty Mrs K. I dont want to call her Blowjobs at the end cos it sounds funny.lol. Tell her that Nigeria weed is the strongest in the whole world and she should visit sometime with you to try out our best ukwalle, ondo and benin weed. She will not even think of leaving Naija without some.

But Blowjobs this your thread done dey dry small. How far you no dey play football(soccer as Americans call it) again?

You no come even gist us again about Mr M.

Hope you reply soon

We now even have a song by Falz the bahd guy titled LA FETE. You will love it. Will be giving you current hot hot naija music update if you dont mind.

Peace

haha, thank you.

i have tried writing but i don't think it will work for me. I get "lazy" about writing.

Mrs K is good. I keep learning more and more about Marriage everyday. Marriage is hard bro (especially for we Males). One big rule about Marriage that i can so well relate to is " Wife is always right".

If you want peace of mind, let you wife do what she wants and believe you wife is always right, else, you will spend your entire day apologizing for her being mad about what you didn't say or being insensitive.

Also, regardless of how much your significant other loves you, Please, please and please. DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT talk about or say anything about your past relationships. Don't bring your past relationship into your marriage life. It is a recipe for disaster ( lol i don dey turn marriage counselor grin)

I receive email from someone i used to be "involved with" basically asking about my wellbeing and want us to "hang out". i showed it to my wife ( big mistake. should have just deleted it). She replied. We moved on. she checked my email for 3 days like she was anticipating a reply. It was unusual of her to do that.

so basically, no matter how much you love your wife and your wife loves you, don't give the impression you used to be so much in love with another person. It is a bad idea in marriage. (it works well in a boyfriend/girlfriend kinda thing grin)

oh, the other lady replied. She sent an old pic of Us together, i deleted it with immediate alacrity

PS: we are young couples, we learn more about each other daily.

And about Guy M, i really wanna tell the stories about him. I figured out as long as i am still his employee (formal or informal) it speaks bad of me telling all his flaws so openly. Believe me when i tell you, he is a nice guy. He just has ways of getting on your nerves. Also he has no "off button" on his mouth so you have to be careful not to tell him anything personal.

I don't mind naija song update. Thank you for that.

The main reason why i haven't been writing much is, this Adjustment of Status application process is nerve wrecking. They do background check on you and all that. I really can't tell what they will check up on me. I am not as anonymous as i think (few people already send me mail and mention my full names lol). So, since i have a pending application, it is best i don't talk myself into troubles. lol

PPS: if you wanna truly be free, DO NOT MARRY grin grin. However, if you do, pray your wife is understanding like mine grin kiss

You came to the US from the Caribbean as an exchange student and adjusted yer status after you married while here? Or while on vacation u married?

Did the USCIS investigate you for visa fraud? I read that an adjustment of stats is a red flag to them

Nope. If you follow the rules.

Wheeeeew. And I got to the current page. Interesting thread BJ, kudos. Your stories about Mrs K are intriguing. It's like reading a "James Hardley Chase" novel especially the trip to her hometown... Hehehe. I wish you the best in your union.
I don't think I've read through Nairaland threads like I did yours since I joined in 2006...lol. Although the insults and some child-like behaviors on the way were ridiculous and irritating.
Anyways, be happy and I hope to read the post when you eventually get your status adjusted.

Happy new year.

Thanks guys

well, the great thing about America is that the System works (a lot of times). However, Republicans are on the verge of scattering everything and making America more hostile to Immigrants. America won't fare well in my humble opinion under full Republican control

What could have made the man not to have his legal stay? Even after getting married to a USC and have children.

he was undocumented and too old to qualify for DACA.

He should have done the pardon and consular processing for his Permanent resident.

His case might be complicated maybe because he has Criminal records.

okay, if it's going to expire in 90 days and the K1 process takes 5 months to process, would that not mean getting another one? how much effect will this have on the application especially for some of us who because of distance can't necessarily meet out spouses and as such cant 'jointly' go to the license registry

K1 process brings you here with a 3months visa. then you have to be married within 3 months.

You can get a marriage license today and get married same day. doesn't matter. you can even get marry without saying vows by just signing the dotted lines.

Nothing special is happening in my life. It is boring.

3/4 days of work per week

studying for an Exam

Watching so much TV nowadays.

Honestly, i wish i can post all day. But.. life is so boring.

Boredom will get me in trouble.

Here is a little "exciting" story..... (sorry I'm sharing this Mrs K if you read this grin)

My "ex" (*i don't know what to call it cos we never actually dated*) from 3 years ago sent me an email few days ago. she said Nigeria is being talked about in the news and she missed me. She asked when next i'm coming to the US. she would like for us to hang out again.

Mrs K replied with a picture of her flashing her ring grin (she can be petty like that grin). I am waiting for her to reply..

i am bored tho. i have been tracking my application over and over like it will suddenly say "interview Scheduled" grin

Birthright citizenship can only be abrogated through a constitutional amendment. A majority of the state legislatures (3/4) would have to approve it, and both houses of Congress approve it, before it gets repealed.

Good to know. Thanks

In my own opinion, the AOS will always be there and nothing will happen to it. The only thing I think that can be the problem is the chain based immigration(filing for siblings or parents). As far as other is concerned, You have no problem. You file, You get your work authorization then your green card and you will be be fine.

One thing I hate about this AOS is it makes you worry so much about little things and always checking for immigration news lol.

You don't have to be worried, You will just be fine

The way this Republicans are acting sef.

Na wah o.

So birthright citizenship will be off.
No more visa lottery, no brothers, sisters, parents becoming PR through naturalized citizen.

Make i read that bill sef.

Yes
You do know family based affects C09 category.

What then happens?

It might also mean that when i naturalize, i might not be able to bring my parents here.

I need them here gor health reasons. My dad is already having signs that his health isn't well managed.
