Ths is alot of people and the amesty will last until jan 19th 2020. We still need to know where these people are coming from? After this Nigeria needs to start mass deportation of illegal aliens.
PoliticsNIS Registers 27,046 Migrants Under The E-migrants Registration Database by Blue3k(op):
Babandede disclosed this in Benin on Thursday in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the Comptroller General of Immigration annual conference.

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mohammad Babandede, has said that no fewer than 27,046 migrants have been registered in the e-migrant registration database since its inception in July.

Babandede disclosed this in Benin on Thursday in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the Comptroller General of Immigration annual conference.

He disclosed that of the figure, 17,875 were irregular migrants representing 66 per cent of the total number of migrants registered, adding that 9,170 representing 34 per cent were regular migrants.

He explained that the objective of the migrants’ e-registration was to afford the Nigerian Government the opportunity to know precisely the total number of migrants’ residents in the country as well as their status.

Babandede also said that the migrants data would also assist the government in sociopolitical and National Demographic growth plans.

He further disclosed that the NIS had also reviewed the Nigerian Immigration Service manual of 1963 and published the support from International Office for Migration (IOM) and funding from the Netherland, Switzerland and GIZ Germany.

The CG also said that it was during the annual conference in 2017, in Ogun State, that the strategic action plans for the passport reforms were initiated.

He noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Jan. 15, launched the new e-passport booklet, which have feature like polycarbonate bio-data page technology.

This enhances security features in line with International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) requirements and guidelines for electronic machine readable travel document.

In the alternative, smuggling should be addressed like terrorism which is being jointly combated by Nigeria and her neighbours.”
Nigeria should ho negotiate its terms on what concrete actions does Nigeria want Benin and Niger to take to reopen borders. Im thinking they should agree to more information and deploying more security forces on their side of border. I agree with falana on joint borde opperations.

Trump's deal with Mexico is good example to follow. The US got Mexico to agree to more information sharing, station national guard at their southern border and keep asylum seekers in Mexico until their cases are resolved in the US.

If they can afford and it's practical they should. Its thst simple. If they cant they'll judt have to deal with isdue other means till the government bans them.

so armed robbers are right then?,why can't the herdsmen fence their cows that are most likely to cause damages i:e break the law?, it's good the herdsmen want to go to court, let them go n let's see the outcome.
You're 1st question is silly. Robber is criminal. Banks have safes and security knowing these robbers exist. The farmers should do the same if they can afford to.

They can they're just too lazy to adapt. Ranching is better and beef import ban should be lifted. The outcome is obvious since court have slrrady ruled anti grazing laws are legal.

No farmers shouldn't fence their farms because their crops are not a threat to anyone.
You should protect your property from invaders. Its no different from building a fence around a backyard or locking doors. If they dont want to or can't afford to that's their businesses. It's odd you guys advocate not protecting your valuables.

Nope. Crop farmers are not obligated to fence their farmlands because their crops won't walk around and shit everywhere and trespass onto someone else's property.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram's Techical Defeat: What Constitutes Victory In North East War? by Blue3k(op):
Personally I dont believe in technical defeats. I don't believe Nigeria can say it won the war until they dislodge them from places they remain in control. In the Lake Chad basin they collect taxes. The next goal has to be reconstruction and economic development. The government already doing de-radicalization programs but they should consider broading it to wider population.
PoliticsBoko Haram's Techical Defeat: What Constitutes Victory In North East War? by Blue3k(op):
What are mission objectives in the northeast war? The Federal government has been saying boko haram has been technically defeated since 2015. The government believes this as shown by them repatriating displaced people and forming North east development commission.

What constitutes victory in this war?

However lives and properties are more important than expensive beef and ponmo.
Nigerian leadership dont care about cheap beef. If they wanted cheap beef just lift the import ban allowing Americans beef into country. They FG doesn't even bother enforcing ecowas rules on herdsmen showing they aren't interested in health or safety.
PoliticsRe: Fulani Herdsmen Threaten Legal Action Against Oyo Assembly Over Anti-open Grazin by Blue3k(m):
These lawsuits are a waste of time. It didnt work in Benue and wont work in Oyo. It's precedent at this point.

“We are equally opposed to ranching which is capital intensive. Why not ask the farmers also to fence their farm holdings? How much are we going to be spending per caged cow per annum in form of feeding, etc.?
Lol we finally see an honest person among them. They only oppose ranching because they dont want to change business model. I agree farmers should put up cheap barbwire fences to keep these guys out.

Prove to me that Nigeria has comparative advantage? I've just bought popcorn. I'm listening
I doubt he'll give you a counter argument so I will. Nigeria might have a competitive advantage in rice if they practiced industrial farming. Nigeria consumption needs could be satisfied by doubling yield per acre. PWC published a report about it. The problem is people obsess or inports and smuggling instead of productivity.

The advantage doesn't exist currently but could in future.

Joy killer... Which old news... Are Ghanaian goods not currently seized at the border or not? Is Nigeria land borders still closed or not?
Lol how childish you take joy in this trivial nonsense. The trucks are backed up till trade corridor is ready. Nigeria already agreed to let these trucks through so Ghana's appeal worked.

This is as dumb as US citizens bragging about hiking up vias cost on Nigerians. The price will readjust after official confirmation from Nigeria reducing their own. You guys are a silly bunch.

Ghana and Nigeria have agreed on the creation of a temporary corridor on Nigeria’s western border with Benin Republic where Ghanaian goods in transit can pass to avoid collateral damage arising from the closure of Nigeria’s borders with Benin.

Nigeria wants fair trade relationship. Nigeria should not be a dumping ground for ungrateful neighbours. Just watch how Buhari will treat South Africa's fucck up. Buhari never forgives nor forgets.
What do these countries have to do for Nigeria to reopen its borders specifically. Nigeria hasn't publicly stated what exactly that entails. Do you think the plan is to close border indefinitely?

I'll you an example with US-Mexico illegal immigration issue. Trump threatened sanctions against Mexico if they dont do more to curb issue. The US got Mexico to agree to more information sharing, station national guard at their southern border and keep asylum seekers in Mexico until their cases are resolved in the US.

Buhari won't do anything to South Africa. Nigeria didn't threaten sanctions in the heat of the moment. It won't be after everything calms he'll do something petty. If you disagree that's cool.

The comments is correct unless you have arguments why not. There's enough information to see part of the story but everything without a bunch of speculation. The question is what does Nigeria want them to do specifically that they dont already do.

Are you aware of boko haram, bandits, kidnappers etc. The guns you can legally acquire in Nigeria are Limited and you have be licensed. The vast majority are illegal. The government already makes exceptions for those they deem worth arbitrarily like hunters or Civilian joint task force (vigilantes).

Have you ever asked are these guys licensed. Both are hunters fighting boko haram.

You have to pay for the same reason you pay for your other IDs. The government doesn't need to budget cash for your ID. 5k is a reasonable price. If you're too poor get help from your family or friends.
