The oil was discovered in the Gongola Basin. From what I’ve seen so far about the location, it’s in Bauchi state.
Sounds goods that means the boko haram threat is minimal. I do think they have projective force that far out. The only thing Nigeria should worry about pipeline vandals.

Getting it to international market is the issue. Nigeria already has trouble securing pipelines. The discovery is on eastern half of country by boko haram and Niger delta Avengers. Niger Republic opted to build pipelines through Benin Republic instead of Nigeria because of insecurity.

Interesting I'm looking forward to more updates. It's good to note that It's light sweet oil thatvwas discovered. That means it will be cheap to refine snd extract compared to what was discovered in Niger Republic. We can expect a revenue boom hopefully the benefiting state and local governments use it well.

Daily Nigerian posted a video about this.

PoliticsRe: FG Signs $3.9bn Deal With Chinese Firm For Abuja-itakpe Railway Construction by Blue3k(m): 8:15am On Oct 11, 2019
Ask the FG or the State. Cross River hasn't done anything but get business case approved. I can tell you didnt read articles about topic. The ibom super highway is a state project that already started last time I checked. Again should come with facts instead of opinions.

The cross river super highway is suposed to be 200km on top of cost of seaport. I repeat the project is dead with FG backing it financially. Its weird you dont know the same Ibom seaport is partnership between state federal and private sector just like Lekki.

rottennaija:
And yet, the Bakkasi seaport has gotten federal approval while Ibom deep seaport hasn't despite billions sunk into it in the name of consultants. Besides, what is Cross River state governor doing differently that Akwa Ibom state governor isn't? One has gotten federal approval while the other is a campaign talk. Isn't it the same federal bureaucracy that the cross river government has succeeded in overcoming to getting an approval?

The Ibom super highway to the Ibom deep seaport, which was started at the inception of his first time, where it is? The commissioner for works is busy speaking grammar.

When Udoms govt winds up, I'll remind you about these.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Blue3k(m): 3:17am On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
So am right. Having a monolingual or monoethnic setting do solve a part of the problem.

Yes Africans went to war too but not like Europe, else how would so many languages survive this far
It does help but the goal should be common cultural values based around civic nationalism. The ethno state model is works when it can occur natural. The Kurds are exhibit A about why you dont create it by force.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Blue3k(m): 2:12am On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
And why didn't they replicate such in Africa if they knew it could solve some problems?

It's not out fault they assimilated themselves. We Africans weren't know to engage in wars with one another
They weren't here to solve your problems. They did you're speaking English as lingua franca. Look at china alot of ethnic minorities have their own language but they all know Chinese.

Lol you think African empires were established how. People groups in the continent went to war all the time.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Blue3k(m): 1:34am On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
Just take a look at most developed and wealthy nations on Earth, US, UK, Japan, China, Russia, Canada, Germany and the rest are mostly monolingual or there's one two or three dialects which everyone understands. Does that mean that a large portion of their problems has been cut off?

Why didn't they do the same in Colonial Africa, if it could work for them or where they experimenting or am i wrong??
I think most countries are monolingual due to geography, trade and conquest ans natural development of the culture. Lets look at the UK specifically there English were dominant and forced English on rest of the island. Scottish people and Irish originally spoke Gaelic.

rottennaija:
Keep dreaming. Udom will still leave in 4 years with a single thing done on the seaport.
Thanks for your opinion comeback when you have facts. Federal bureaucracy is slowing the project down according to the state. After they give final approvals construction begins.

You should read up the the cross river super highway and bakkasi seaport before giving unfounded opinions. If FG doesn't buy in the project is dead.

Which Ibom Seaport? Have you not heard and seen that bakassi deep seaport has taken over? Forget Ibom deep seaport, Udom is never going to do it. The way I see it, it's a conduit for pocketing state money
You dont know whst you're talking about. The FG had commited any investment Bakkasi seaport. Ibom deep seaport is partnership between state and FG. Also the Ibom already has preferred bidder.

There is PH-Maiduguri which is too costly and should not be attempted now for security and loan re payment ability
Ph-Maidugari doesn't go to Akwa Ibom. They were planning on doing it but G.E pulled out. It's still going to be concessioned. Besides it's better to start process now than later. The rail line will take 5 years to complete.
PoliticsRe: FG Signs $3.9bn Deal With Chinese Firm For Abuja-itakpe Railway Construction by Blue3k(m): 6:10pm On Oct 10, 2019
Amaechi need to plan a north south rail line for Ibom seaport. He's doing it for the others. The coastal line us cool but the north south is best for port efficiency..

In other news Benin and Niger Republic will get arbitration ruling 2020. Apparently Benin and Niger Republic have been wanting a rail connection since 1999. We'll see how that plays out in a few months.

PS: Can anyone who disageess with this project explain why Benin and Niger have been seeking to build rail connections for 2 decades?

PoliticsRe: Benin Republic Asked Their President To Resign Due To The Border Closure. by Blue3k(m):
Officially, exports to Nigeria represent 13% of Benin’s total export volume. But according to the World Bank, informal trade between the two countries accounts for 20% of its GDP.
It would be interesting to see how adversely it effects boths countries GDPs. Opinion polls would also be useful. I guessed thst Benin would be hurt more based on the fact Nigeria represents 10%-20% of exports. Nigeria will definitely see food rising inflation but that's norm for years.

The border has to be reopened eventually. Nigeria should just negotiate its terms with them. This policy is harming both countries.

“The current context confirms our determination to develop our economy through industrialisation and transformation. We no longer want to be a country of smugglers,” says a close colleague of the Beninese president.
These guys definitely need to diversify economy. Hitching your wagon to Nigeria isnt it.

I dont believe there is one currently. Im not a military guy. We woukd need to copy the example in Syria if we want the best results. We need to air support to take out terrorists cells. Ground forces should be focused on containing them.

Other than that disrupt the terrorist economy by letting people trade and do business. We just license and facilitate trade. The last thing is getting oversea terrorist funding out the way.

Nigerian police plan to acquire stun guns and revise their rules of engagement in an effort to curb the use of deadly force, the inspector general of the force said on Thursday.

The West African country, which plays a pivotal role in regional stability, is beset by security problems ranging from armed bandits who have forced 40,000 people to leave the northwest in recent months to communal violence between nomadic herdsmen and farming communities in central states.

Last month, a United Nations special rapporteur described Nigeria as a “pressure cooker of internal conflict” due to security problems and what it said was an excessive use of lethal force by police and military.

This is with the intention of addressing public concerns on misuse of firearms by the police with its attendant consequences on lives and effect on the attainment of our community policing vision.

Mohammed Adamu told a gathering of senior officers in the capital, Abuja, that he had “initiated actions” toward deploying less lethal weapons – commonly known as stun guns – for low-risk police operations.

“This is with the intention of addressing public concerns on misuse of firearms by the police with its attendant consequences on lives and effect on the attainment of our community policing vision,” Adamu said, according to a copy of the speech distributed to media.

He did not say how much the stun guns would cost.

Adamu said the force had also revised and simplified “Force Order 237”, which outlines its rules of engagement.

He did not specify what changes were made, but said the redesign would ensure the “protection of fundamental human rights” in policing.

The force is also arranging special training for certain units, including the counter-terrorism unit, anti-robbery and kidnapping squads, and criminal investigation specialists.
