jumper524: one thing learned about democracy is that no matter how rigorous you are, you ,use compromise. Even the Us pay terrorist when it's needed and attack them when it's also needed. Elrufai has done both and you know if not that somethings are beyond his reach, he'll have ended insecurity in kaduna. He's been vocal about it and has always made a very necessary compromise. Also his honesty has always been there.
Are you defending the policies after seeing a 20.55% rise in homicides? There's no reason to compromise on this issue. The United States doesn't pay domestic criminals to reduce crime (increase yes). Anyway mindlessly copying bad ideas is dumb. This is why parents ask kids if all your friends jump off a bridge would you do it? He seems to understand now that force is needed. That's why he asked for forward operations bases to put in.
Maybe it's because of his soft-on-crime policies. Paying off killers doesn't work. It just incentives more to extort the state and people. I do appreciate his honesty about how bad crime was in his state.
Kaduna crime stats 2021:
Est. 8.9 million population according to Wikipedia.
1192 homicides ~ 13.39 homicides per 100k The number of homicides increased by 245 which is a 20.55% increase. 3,348 kidnappings ~ 37.62 kidnappings per 100k 891 assaults (injuries) ~ 10.01 assaults per 100k
SugarGirl44: Just shut up...oyinbo slave. Always licking white peoples ass and never seeing anything good about themselves. Foolish Africans. That’s why the whites would never respect you, cos you’re obsessed with them and you hate yourself.
Your comment is idiotic because it represents none of my views. I didn't even mention white people in my comments. I mentioned their probably other regions that have none looking women like Asia, Latin America and Africa. I bet on Chile and Brazil both with mixed race ancestry for the most part. Lol why don't you weirdos just post pictures of the sexy black footballer instead of crying in the comment section.
Oshiomole is a popular customer of all the prostitutes in Benin. He is suffering from sexual disease and it is affecting his brain.
He's accusing him of having gonorrhea Syphilis. I say gonorrhea Syphilis because it's the only one that affects brain function at later stages if left untreated. I wonder if he's going to be arrested for slander.
Brendaniel: And na only white girls you carry put for your list....
I'm not familiar with female footballers but I would assume there'd be room for other ethnicities to be represented. Latin America Asia and Africa should have some good-looking women playing. I would bet on Brazil and Chile in particular.
Zooposki: Keep talking down on your women and uplifting others. That’s why you fools are at the bottom of the barrel and the white man at the top, cos you will never see the white man speak as foolishly as you.
Low IQ monkey retard.
Lol, what are you crying over this person's opinion for? Just post pictures of sexy footballers that play for Nigeria. There's a reason most of these women are athletes instead of models. BTW female athletes are roasted for their looks all the time in the west.
Please let's not pretend the federal government doesn't have an outsized influence. Inflation and a stagnant economy is what's driving poverty. These are Marco issues.
ozo13: Baba don enter one chance. By the time court as him to prove it.ur guess is as good as mine.No wonder people are already begging for him to be released without court involvement
I'm guessing he'll punk out and plead guilty. Those Kano TikTokers couldn't stand on their words against Ganduje. The only one with heart is Sharif-Aminu. His case is due or die though.
He said the security situation in the country was better now than it was when the President assumed power in 2015.
Lol, this is why Statistics matter even if you can lie using them. What's the rate murder, kidnapping, or robbery per 100k in 2015 vs 2022? Why did the government stop bothering to release crime statistics if they're doing so, well? It's doubtful violent crimes rates are falling considering the badits are constantly rampaging. They'll never quantify their claims because they they're lying.
The Presidency said yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari has done enough to leave a safer nation.
Nigeria has been battling a myriad of security challenges across all parts of the country, with banditry and kidnapping for ransom, among other violent crimes.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who stated this on Channels Television's programme, Politics Today, on Sunday night, also said he was not moved by the recent wave of migration, saying many Nigerians had always wanted to leave the country.
He said the security situation in the country was better now than it was when the President assumed power in 2015.
He said: "No doubt about it. He would leave a safer country. When he came in 2015, you could not be sure Nigeria would exist in the next one month.
"As of 2015, what was happening was that nobody could confidently say that Nigeria would be on the map in the following next week, month or year. But we saw that he came and took the battle to the insurgents.
"When he came, the insurgency was the main thing and he took the battle to them. Then, it became hydra-headed - banditry, kidnapping for ransom, cultism, and separatist agitations joined.
"How many challenges can one administration really confront? That's the issue with the Buhari administration. From day one till now, it was from one challenge to the other."
Adesina maintained that the government had done much to curtail the challenges and would end on a high note.
He didn't it's a paraphrase of what he actually said. I didn't post the real quote because most of you wouldn't be familiar with American history anyway. Andrew Jackson defied the Supreme Court's ruling and made the quote below. John Marshall was the chief justice at the time.
omonnakoda: But for discussion . Where will $50 billion come from That could be 30-40 trillion Naira what is the current revenue of the Federal government and what is the debt service expense figure??
I am curious to know when/how recently the costing of that 50 billion took place bearing in mind that ENERGY used to pump or divert water would be a major cost
Now looking at it as a business? If you put in $50 billion will it generate money and how much? Or would you need to spend money annually to maintain
These are basic feasibility questions
Lol they don't have any means of raising that sort of cash. It was supposed to be a group effort but the countries that border lake chad are poorer than Nigeria. It wouldn't matter if they had the funds now because Congo already rejected the Transaqua project.
The Italian firm Bonifica the one that came up with the project in the 80s. They're still involved in discussions today. I doubt this project would be profitable.
omonnakoda: You are name dropping as if you or I or Nairaland are experts on Lake recharging? Oga if you siddon for two people seat na two person money you go pay Me I no know book I am not sure what Transaua or Sandstone Aquifer is
Here's a link you can read if you're interested in the topic. There's also Google if you have more questions. I'm glad to answer some of your questions on a thread I made about it later.
The Transaqua project (Lake Chad Replenishment) would cost 50 billion dollars. There are alternatives like tapping Nubian Sandstone Aquifer but no estimates have been made on that. You can use Libya made River project as a proxy if you want to. Now discuss from there.
openmine: Like i said ab initio that is the least of your worries as trivial matters will be brought before the court esp when they believe they want and can get justice! Out of court settlement as an option can be activated when both parties decide to take such path....However not everyone goes through that route! Hence the court is always their last hope no matter how inconsequential the matter is or sounds!
Not everyone goes court route either hence why the alternatives exist. Again not worried because I told you good luck on your mission. Glad you admitted all these alternatives exist. The justice is right most of these trivial issues should die at the appeals court.
openmine: The Judiciary is synonymous to Justice in a court of law esp when the normal conflict resolution path is not yielding any solution! Every case no matter how trivial is imperative and must be heard in court! As for hiring a thousand judges to hear and give justice to irrelevant cases as you are erroneously alluding to,that is why the justice system is there in the first place and that should be the least of your problem! Simple!
Lol, you're very silly. Out-of-court settlements happen because in civil matters the court doesn't have to be sought. Other forms of conflict resolution yield solutions unless you want to pretend out court settlement also don't happen. No they don't have to be held in court unless they're criminal matters. Again if you can pull of the feat of every trivial matter being heard in court continues on your quest.
openmine: Only ignorant people who know little or nothing about the importance of the judiciary at every level of the citizen will make such preposterous statements!
Again alternatives exist to the judiciary. They very useful for criminal matters but for civil they don't have to be used as a first resort. Mediation and arbitration are faster and cheaper. You're saying it's preposterous because you're not thinking too hard about the situation. I already suggested things like hiring more judges because that's the big reason why justice is slow. Why you guys think it's judiciary or fight to the death is a mystery to me. Good luck on your mission to hire enough judges to hear every trivial issue you have.
openmine: Its far better than taking laws into your own hands! There must be a court for every disagreement no matter how inconsequential it might seem!
That's pretty ridiculous especially for civil matters when alternatives exist. If you believe that you should be ready to hire 1000 more judges in your state alone since every argument is the court's duty to solve.
Atlantis585: Who did this to us as a country? Is it better to take matters into our own hands? If only the courts don’t always favour the highest bidders we won’t have to sue as much as we do. Go to America and Europe and see how the courts systems function. I can already see that this man will be worse than the one he replaced.
Assuming it's a civil case. There's always arbitration or mediation. It's cheaper and faster than court. The problem I noticed is there's too few judges in Nigeria.
“We have said it repeatedly that ordinarily, most appeals should be allowed to end at the Court of Appeal, but such constitutional provision is yet to be enacted so we have no blame in it.”
It's done that way in the United States. For better or worse the Supreme Court picks and chooses the cases it wants to hear. There should be a method to force them to hear a case but alas there isn't.
Gboom: He should not blame Nigerians but the lawyers that are always escalate small issues to put food on their tables.
Lawyers may not also be blamed because they are troublesome clients that will give lawyers work due to the fact that the lawyer is on his monthly payroll.
So in essence Nigerians are to blame unless the clients are Martians.
It makes me wonder what their electoral value is. Politicians don't seem afraid of upsetting them in any state. I would assume their voting demographic is large but they could also be idiots. Who knows how many of them chose to reelect the governor against their self-interest.
Lol the greatest sin of our age is racism. It's murder, deceit, theft or rape. We can no longer have disease names like Spanish flu, German measles, West Nile virus, etc.
