JASONjnr: How can you agree that the state's generate low income and can't even pay salaries..yet believe that they should do enough to fix the education system.
You shouldn't be in this argument.....
I am saying that we don't have a need for history. Nobody will get reach by telling histories...
We need ICT and technical skills studies in schools....We need sports activities to be introduced in the schools.
Some private schools are doing this... They've changed their curriculum and they select subjects based on their interest and not subject a child to learn 12 to 14 subjects that he will need just a few at the university.
You clearly missed the part about states not budgeting correctly. The states refuse to reduce bloated the work force and increase taxes fund services. You should not argue if you too lazy to read. Hardly anyone gets rich playing sports just like doing history. Again I will repeat tell your state to fund it unless you fine just waiting for the Federal Government. It's OK to just admit that's your desire. Why are you avoiding that?
Sharif-Aminu is entering the sudden death round. Let's hope he wins so blasphemy becomes Unconstitutional. It's clearly at odds with the constitution regarding free speech expression and religion. If he does win I suggest we amend the constitution to add a Succession clause so righteous states don't have to be with infidels.
JASONjnr: Just incase you don't know....If have federal schools in all the states....
Let the FG begin by fixing the federal schools..
If you don't want the education system to work....I know meaningful Nigerians want it to work....
Leave the state projects...Since Nigeria decided to have all attention on the central power....
The state rely on federal government's allocation to initiate projects and pay salaries....Based on what they generate..
Since all the monies are within the control of the FG...Then they should lead by example to fix it's schools acros the country first...
Lol you're not the sharpest tool in the shed. Anytime you're corned on one point you jump to new topic to be schooled in. Nobody is debating if federal school should be fixed so that's irrelevant to original post. If states run their own education system you can't leave them alone that's illogical.
States have plenty of IGR potential the can tap into via income taxes and property taxes this why the tax to GDP is pretty low. If your state sucks at budgeting more money won't fix that. This is why certain states can't pay salaries and are always owing. This isn't to say rules should be changed just for clarification.
Again their school being bad doesn't justify your failures. You guys every excuse why you should be a loser. If you want to fund the project raise taxes or cut expenses somewhere. If you're not interested just say that. We both know you just want to wait on the FG that's why you were upset they funded history before ICT.
Sharif-Aminu is asking the apex court to declare that the offence of blasphemy is not recognised in Nigerian law.
Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a musician sentenced to death by hanging in 2020 after being convicted of blasphemy, has approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria to challenge his conviction.
This was seen in court documents filed by his counsel, Kola Alapinni Esq, which were obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
According to the documents, Sharif-Aminu is asking the apex court to declare that the offence of blasphemy is not recognised in Nigerian law.
SaharaReporters exclusively learnt on Wednesday that the governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje and the state Attorney General, Musa Abdullahi Lawan had just been served court papers with regard to the appeal.
The death sentence was passed on Sharif-Aminu by a Sharia court, which a high court overturned. It, however, denied the musician bail and ordered his re-trial before another Sharia court judge due to irregularities in the original trial.
The musician approached the appeal court to overturn the order for his retrial for blasphemy. His lawyer argued that he ought to be removed from detention.
But the appellate court did not rule in his favour.
Sharif-Aminu’s notice of appeal to the apex court reads, “Take Notice that the Appellant being dissatisfied with the decision more particularly stated in paragraph 2, of the Court of Appeal, Kano Division holden at Kano, Kano State contained in the judgment dated 31/08/2022 doth hereby appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria upon the grounds set out in paragraph 3 and will at the hearing of the appeal seek the relief set out in paragraph 4.
“And the Appellant states that the names and addresses of the persons directly affected by the appeal are those set out in paragraph 5.”
The Appellant noted that the part of the decision of the lower court complained of is “the whole” decision.
He is seeking an order “allowing the appeal, setting aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal and entering judgment in favour of the Appellant”.
Sharif-Aminu is also seeking “an order declaring S.382(b) of the Sharia Penal Code Law of Kano State 2000 being in conflict and incompatible with S.34(1)(a), S.38(1), S.39(1), and other provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Articles 5, 8, and 9, among others, of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights, and Articles 7, 18, and 19, among others, of the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, as well as an order declaring other sections of the Sharia Penal Code, including SS: 94 (1) (b); 97 (a-j); 99; 115 (1) (2); 116(2): 117; 118 (2): 123; 125 (e-b), 126 (e) (2): 127 (a-b); 129 (a b): 131; 134: 134(b): 135(2): 136; 137: 140 (b); 141 (b): 146 (a): 148; 163 (c): 169: 150; 154; 155; 157; 162; 163 (c); 169: 170; 174 (3); 175-178; 186; 187; 189; 191-194; 196; 197; 199; 200; 208-211; 216-221; 223-227; 237; 246 (a); 260 (a-b); 264; 268; 273; 276 (c), (i); 277 (c); 280 (b): 281-284 (c); 285-287 (b); 290; 291 (b); 292; 293 (d) (-i): 294 (a-b): 295 (a): 296 (a); a-b): 295 (a): 296 (a); 297 (a-b); 298 (b); 299 (a-b) 300-308; 309 (a-b); 310-312; 315 (1-2): 316 (1): 317; 323; 324 (a); 325;-328; 329 (a-b); 330-332; 335 (b); 336 (b); 337 (b); 338 (b): 339 (b); 340; 342 (c); 344 (c); 345 (c): 346 (c): 347 (b): 348 (b); 349 (b); 352 (a): 353; 356; 358; 360-362; 368; 369 (b); 373; 376; 377(e); 385; 387 (b); 388 (1) as being similarly incompatible with the Constitution and international treaties.”
JASONjnr: Yet the FG can support and fund projects in Niger but you see this as a crime if FG support states to fund educational projects...
Abeg shift...
You take excuses for a rotten system but complains about the country not moving well...
I didn't say it was a crime. Now you're shifting the goal post since your initial backtracking lie didnt work. What excuse did I make and did I say your pet project shouldn't happen? I asked you what's stopping your state now you're getting upset. Your state like the rest will sit on their hands like they did with history subject until the federal government deems it important. I'm guess that's what upsetting you.
JASONjnr: If you have a brain, you will understand that I was speaking in general....
Whether it's a state government or federal government...
The education system needs a new shape and we need it like never before....
If you're speaking in general why are you complaining about the federal government not funding your pet project? The federal funding history does not affect your state funding ICT, technical studies or athletic programs? If you had a brain this point would be obvious to you but we both know you're just back tracking.
Introduce sport activities to schools...A child who isn't really academically sound could do better and champion in sports or practical skills taught in the schools.
What's stopping your state from introducing these programs and paying the staff? Why do you guys act like your state representatives are powerless vassals when it's convenient to your argument? Do you just want the federal government to fund everything around you?
Emperormartin: The pressure from Nigeria populace has finally yielded sth.
I don't know the reason why they initially scrapped it!!!
Maybe they were apprehensive of Biafran reinassance
Why did your state not pay the history teachers after they removed the subject? I don't understand why everyone acts like the states couldn't pay the history teachers.
History being reintroduced in the curriculum is great. Let's be honest the FG didn't need to do it. Nothing was stopping any state from doing it these past 13 years. Constitutionally the federal government mandates the minimum level of education, not the maximum. Lol, civics and economics should also be mandatory classes.
Anyway for history lovers here are two recommendations. Check out the documentary below if you have a couple of hours to kill over the weekend. Read this book if you want to know pre-Nigerian history before amalgamation.

Why was history scrapped in 2009? Why didn't the States bother to reintroduce it back into their curriculums? Why do people wait for federal government to fund these subjects?
Federal government has formally announced the reintroduction of History as a stand alone subject in the basic education curriculum in Nigeria 13 years after it was removed.
A total of 3,700 History teachers have also been shortlisted for the first round of training for enhanced teaching of the subject.
The minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who spoke at the flag-off ceremony of the reintroduction of teaching of History and training of History teachers at basic education level in Abuja on Thursday, lamented that the national cohesion was being threatened with the country retreating into primordial sentiments because of lack of knowledge of the evolution of Nigeria following the removal of the subject.
Just to let you guys know what can be achieved by tapping that Aquifer just watch the video below. Libya created The Great Man-Made Rivers to irrigate the desert. It cost billions as mentioned before. I don't see why this couldn't be replicated to refill a lake.
It's crazy that the government shut down the expedite service center. Corruption in Nigeria is a feature, not a bug. Any reasonable individual should understand this is why the war on Corruption is a massive failure. I feel the solution to most issues is transparency and accountability. Refunds would incentivise they fulfill there services like expedited serivce faster mail times.
Buhari and Aregbesola are failures for not coming up with simple solutions. Aregbesola suggested everyone wearing body cams instead. The government collects more money in expedite fees, travelers get the passports sooner, NIPOST gets more revenue from mailing fees. Just open up second location for expedited services in FCT or somewhere.
See the billions of naira you are proposing will go into such a project. Except, they are prepared to heavily bribe Boko Haram to look the other way, they are wasting time and planning another looting.
I don't even know the amount you can bribe Boko Haram with to stop them from kidnapping the workers for ransom.
Well the project wouldn't take place in Nigeria where they're most active. I would assume it would be most In Chad since that's where the Aquifer is. The chadians don't have cash or time to bribe Bokogerians.
Let's just assume for the sake of discussion lets assume Tapping the Aquifer will cost at least 25 billion dollars over 20 years. This is what Libya spent on tapping the Aquifer. It's cheaper than the Transaqua project and you don't require the consent of the Congo. Is 23 billion dollars worth the cost economically and socially?
Lol we know Nigeria will have to fund the bulk of this. We have to sign a treaty with Chad since the Aquifer is in their borders.
Nigerian don't want to wait months for the Nigeria Immigration Service to process passports. This leads to corrupt passport officials trying to offer gullible Nigerian promises of faster service. This is a market opportunity for the government to charge an expedited fee. People are willing to pay for premium service so should be provided. Processing times should be much faster than 2 months.
The NIS should be mailing these documents after payment. There's no reason to Subject Nigerians to two trips to the office if you're asking for their residence information during the passport registration. Nigerian postal service should be put to use. This will guarantee faster service because the queues are shorter.
muykem: Thank God you are better than many IPOB members on social media. They thought the English is wrong.
Lol been talking about this topic since 2017. The issue isn't about schematics its about economic feasibility. I'm interested in the second alternative considering it work well for Libya. The 50 billion dollar price tag for the lake doesn't seem worth the effort.
“Libya has a 4-meter diameter pipe of about 2, 400 kilometres taking water to Benghazi, Sirte, and Tripoli. So they take water from this Nubian Sandstone Aquiver.
“The distance between the earth surface and the Nubian Aquiver is 500 meters. Libya takes 6.5 million cubic meters of water every day from this aquifer and pumping it to Sirte, Tripoli and Benghazi. So they are taking this water aggressively”.
Recently Tinubu like Buhari promised to recharge lake Chad. It can be done but at what cost?
• The Transaqua project is one proposal to replenish lake Chad. It involves diverting water from the Congo River to Lake Chad at a 50 billion dollar price tag. The Democratic Republic of Congo already rejected that plan. Obviously that idea is dead in the water if they're not on board.
• Another alternative would involve getting water from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer. This idea was suggested by Professor Adamu of Kaduna University. The professor didn't give an estimate regarding how much the project would cost.

PoliteActivist: What happens if no one achieves it. Anybody knows?
Runoff off election between top two candidates. The rules remain the same for the runoff election. If nobody wins the runoff then it goes into another runoff election. The sudden death rules only require a simply majority to win.
duro4chang: You are a liar. You were one of the people complaining until you were exposed. Keep quiet. One would have expected you to blame the people who were involved but you were blaming the moderators. The system is not bad but you people make it what it is now. Let me tell you, if you, and I don't change nothing can change. Be the agent of change you are preaching. Let the change start from you.
Show me, my comment liar. I never commented on the first or second thread. I didn't blame the mods I talked about you guys arguing about who does more cheating instead of addressing how to close this loophole that's existed for years. You too comfortable making up lies dude. Just argue the points I said.
duro4chang: Our electoral system is so bad because of people like you. You want to cover up your evils but always complaining about others. You are like the pharisees. They want to expose others but cover up. They see others as great sinners but see themselves as saints. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Lol people like me who say clean up the system are bad? That's a pretty idiotic opinion. You're arguing a strawman because you don't want to talk about the main issue being the trash system. I didn't defend any group perpetrating fraud. Your pharisee comparison isn't even apt here considering if the system were corrected nobody can cheat that way.
duro4chang: See how hypocritical you are!!! You people are the ones shouting underage voters at last we can see that you are also culprits. You ought to have covered your face in shame. Those who live in glass house should never throw stones.
Lol if you guys were reasonable you'd be asking why is your electoral system so bad. Every year this is said to be the case yet nothing is done. This is feature not a bug at this point.
About eight domestic airlines sued the FG to court over the matter
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday issued an order of interim injunction restraining the Nigerian government from proceeding with the establishment of its proposed national carrier.
TheCable reported that the temporary injunction was given in a suit marked FHC/L/CS/2159/2022 and filed by registered trustees of the Airline Operators in Nigeria (AON), Azman Air Services Limited, Air Peace Limited, Max Air Limited, United Nigeria Airline Company Limited, and Top brass Aviation Limited, the plaintiffs.
It said Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa who granted the order on Friday, November 12, 2022, ruled that an Order of Maintenance of Status Quo by all the parties in the suit restrained them from taking any further step(s) in relation to the subject matter of the suit pending when the determination of the Motion on Notice is granted.
About eight domestic airlines sued the FG to court, listing Nigerian Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as defendants.
Among other prayers, the airlines want the court to stop the national carrier deal and withdraw the Air Transport Licence already issued to Nigeria Air by the Federal Government and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
In the originating summons of the suit, the plaintiffs formulated five questions for the court to determine, one of which is to determine "whether the entire process for the sale and transfer of shares of the 1st defendant to the 2nd defendant and its consortium by the 3rd and 4th defendants is in line with the provisions of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (Est.) Act, 2005, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Convention, the National Policy on Public Private Partnership (N4P), sections 76-81 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, and does not affect the entire process including the selection, approval or grant to the 2nd defendant and its consortium by the 3rd and 4th defendants is not invalid and thereby entitling the entire process to fresh bidding exercise?"
The plaintiffs, therefore, prayed the court to declare that "the entire administrative actions and decisions of the 3rd and 4th defendants in the sale of the shares of the 1st defendant to the 2nd defendant and its consortium is invalid, void and of no effect".
The plaintiffs also sought "... a declaration that the 2nd defendant was incompetent to bid for shares in the 1st defendant and commence business accordingly.
"An order setting aside the entire bidding/selection process(es) for the "Nigeria Air" project as well as the approval, grant or selection of the 2nd defendant by the 1st, 3rd and 4th defendants in the process.
"An order directing the immediate, fresh and transparent bidding process(es) involving the plaintiffs being the indigenous Airline Operators in Nigeria rightly entitled to participate in the process.
"An order directing the immediate revocation and cancellation of the air transport license (ATL) issued by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to the 1st defendant."
National Carrier
Nigeria Air is the nation's proposed national carrier which was unveiled at the Farnborough Air Show in England on July 18, 2018.
The project was suspended two months after it was announced after critics raised concerns over its relevance and sustainability. The proposed airline was expected to gulp $8.8 million in preliminary cost and $300 million as take-off cost.
The national carrier idea was raised many years after Nigeria's defunct carrier, Nigeria Airways, collapsed due to corruption and poor management.
Last July, the Federal Executive Council approved the leasing of three aircraft to enable the airline to commence operations.
In September, Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika said at a press briefing in Abuja that Ethiopian Airlines emerged as a core investor in Nigeria Air with a 49 per cent shareholding.
"After a careful, detailed and ICRC-governed selection process, Ethiopian Airlines (ET) Consortium has been selected as preferred bidder, offering an owner consortium of 3 Nigerian investors MRS, SAHCO and the Nigerian Sovereign Fund (46 per cent), FGN owning 5 per cent and ET 49 per cent," Mr Sirika said.
Yawn if you have dirt you'd just release it b4 the election. In the United States this phenomenon is called the October surprise. Empty threats do nothing to help you.
lexrichy: Wow like one piece anime bounties 5 million berriies
Lol these bounties might be just as useless as the One Piece animes. Who actually goes out their way to collect on these bounties. The bounty hunters were characters oda stopped focusing on early and the only notable bounty collected was by blackbeard for ace. Navy officers can't collect bounties as you know.
Sounds pretty stupid. Why not just assassinate him or carry out terrorist attacks instead of making empty threats? Lastly what makes them think the deputy governor has an agenda different from his? It looks like they haven't heard of the rally around the flag effect.
