I pray they carry out the recommendations since dem no get sense. There is a limit to what a man can take. My annoyance is even the governor's who could give that recommendation, we have never had this set of useless governor's all over the country
I agree it should be done. Fiscal reality and accountability are what's needed right now. Maybe after this they will start caring about economic and fiscally policy for one election cycle. Lol I have no love for public sector leaches anyway. If they don't work for the government they'll just have to earn their money in the private sector like most of society *gasps*.

This is complete wickedness. When are they going to cut down the salaries of the president, governors, senators, house of rep members with all that their nonsense money they collect, it is civil servants that live all their lives taking debts to survive that they want to sack. They should go ahead and do so. Las las e go touch every body
Lol you knew the beginning rank and file civil servants were always going to be sacrificed first. Lets not pretend this outcome is shocking like we're 5 years old. Lol the reason elected officials don't suffer or care is because there's no consequences for the behavior. They don't even publish what they make officially because the opinions of the plebeians don't matter in terms of retaining wealth and power. They will get over it.

Who is talking about minimum wage here? How many of the states are paying minimum wage
Did I mention only minimum wage in my comment? Don't know how many state pay minimum wage off the top of my head.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Plans To Sack Civil Servants by Blue3k(m): 5:19pm On Aug 12, 2022
Weren't you guys warned after the minimum wage increased higher taxes and potential layoffs would occur? This isn't excusing his terrible economic performance. Lol the people braided the noose for the necks when voting for him.

The activities of most of those workers has no influence on the earning of the state so they must be pushed aside and use the available funds to do what will be accessible to all Abia peoples. It is better that way.
Lol you guys have weird logic. If you admit they aren't useful why hire them in the first place. Cut the workforce and implement a hiring freeze instead of incurring liabilities. The money going to be paid now or later unless they're taken off the books permanently. Government power really just attracts sociopaths and irresponsible people who leach off the productive.

The little I know is that workers are to contribute 5= of their salaries while employers chip in another 5%- totalng 10% of one's income towards their pension monthly.

What I am not certain is whether contributions are obligatory.

It is a pity that states which should know better are ripping workers off. It's dreadful. It's inexcusable and heartless.

I have to be honest with you, I'm not a fan of fully funded pensions. A good number of workers would never be able to save enough to enjoy their old age. I seriously doubt the ability of these pensions to payout enough annuity to retirees, considering that treasury bills have been paying next to nothing for years now.

The real benefit of "fully funded pensions" should be to reduce the costs of taking care of retirees. This will reduce the strain on the government purse. Also, as you have shown, pensions are a massive source of investment to the economy.
Thank you kindly for the free education. I agree alot of these pensioners are dog food even if they got paid.

If Governors can buy exclusive houses and bullet proof cars worth millions. why can't they pay salaries. Now come to pensions and gratuities. These are monies saved for a period of time. Why can't it be released to the people that owns it. Like I have stopped discussing about Nigerian issues.
Government power typically attracts sociopaths and irresponsible people who leach off the productive. The productive usually go into business to gain wealth. There's no punishment for not paying government workers electorally, legally or violently. They unlike you have power to tax but they simply don't care to budget correctly. I dont have a much better answer than that. The solution is even harder to find.

They dont care to budget well simple as that. There's no mystery to solve. You see the private sector work this "miracle" every day.

sammytee042:
It is obvious people are not well informed about how "democracy" system works. Voting Obi is good but have you guys ever considered the fact that he can't run the government alone as we are not practicing autocracy. 2/3 majority from national assembly can stop any move by the president. Voting other parties to occupy other political positions while you vote Obi as president is the same as wasting your vote. It is not the people we need to change but the system
Short answer no. Refer to the quote below for the long answer. What we'll get is gridlock which isn't too bad at least the government won't be doing anything stupid. Lol you assume 2/3rds of these bozos can agree on anything.

No matter how bright the rays of any sun king: No man rules alone. A king can’t build roads alone, can’t enforce laws alone, can’t defend the nation or himself, alone. The power of a king is not to act, but to get others to act on his behalf, using the treasure in his vaults. A king needs an army, and someone to run it. Treasure and someone to collect it. Law and someone to enforce it.

Even some states that are paying regular will deduct pension but neva remits the deduction to ur pension provider. When you retire no pension no gratuity. Yet they are not owing.
Well you know they're talking about salaries not pensions but I recognize your arguement. They're just breaking contracts. I don’t understand how Nigerian pensions schemes even work. How is the money invested that they feel secure making these promises? I understand how something like the Texas School teachers retirement fund works. They have a over 100 billion dollars invested in the market. Lol what's sad is none of this will ever be a campaign issue.

Zamfara that doesn't pay even 18k minimum wage is not owing
I'll never understand what's the point of a federal minimum wage law if they don't care to enforce it. Lol it's in the exclusive list but it doesn't matter.
PoliticsRe: States Owing Salaries As At July 31, 2022 by Blue3k(m):
Lol what's so hard about budgeting for states in Nigeria? The state assemblies should have accounts on payroll to give them projections. Besides unlike private businesses you can tax aka steal cash to pay your worker. Lastly if you're owing you can always institute hiring freeze and cut workforce.

Lol drugs make everything more fun. Try an see if he enjoys it more after a few drinks, weed, Molly or something. Other than that make sure he isn't cheating. Make sure you still look good.

A govt official was telling me that US and UK isn't Lagos.. if a towing vehicle arrives wherever your car breaks down, you will pay for the cost of towing and also an offense must be pinned on you as long as your car isn't in your house.

Please help me get out of this country bro.. I'd be forever grateful to you.. I can sell off my car to be able to afford my flight
Oh well lagos sucks in comparison to those places. The traffic rules always tyrannical. I really feel bad for you sir. All I could say is fight it court if you have time. Maybe the court will wave the ticket money I don’t know.

SmartPolician:
Someone should assemble a team of mechanics that offers 24/7 service to Lagos residents only. Assemble experienced mechanics who are ready to leave their homes and fix faulty cars anytime, anywhere in the state. People become rich when they solve critical problems of the society.
I think it be easier to simply have 24 hrs private towing services. The can just park car in mechanics lot then you call the mechanic in the morning.

Earthstorms:
Last month I met a lady that was given 30,000 naira fine because her car ran out of fuel and stopped on the road.
Well these leaches only exist to generate revenue for the state. If the car is pushed out the road she could walk to a gas station and refill. Better solution give her a ride help her out. Lagos could copy other places that provide limited services for emergencies like Texas.

I understand there are traffic offenses and one has to obey the rules of the land but there is also a place for justice and fairness.
I would recommend calling tow truck to take your vehicle to the nearest mechanic. I dont know about Nigeria but in the US they up all night working. If all else fail ask call the police and see if they have some city service that can tow away your car to the nearest shop.

Why are people behaving like doubting Thomas that the names aren't real. Well the planks will soon fall of your eyes just as you never believed that Africans can be into suicide bombing let alone of Nigerians. Well i don't blame some of you because you're just existing in Nigeria without being observant of timeline of events.
Nigerians like either blaming foreigners or pretending crime only comes from the people they already have animosity with. This why I always suggest the crime stats if they ever get released again give demographics information like tribe.

Blue3k:
The issue is even worse when you observe the published crime stats are always lazily done. The stats only report aggregate crimes instead of doing it by per capita basis. Doing it this way doesn't factor in population which why crime stats are supposed to reported on a per 100k basis. The last measure the NBS could improve is actually reporting victimization rates by tribe, perpetrator by tribe, and if they're foreigners. Reporting race is pretty common in a lot of countries but since 99.9 of Nigerians are same race that would be pointless.

Lol our favorite crooks have been released. The answer to this sort of foolishness has to come from a state level. People can make excuses but it doesn't negate the facts. Lol the worst one is when ignorant people tell you the police gather evidence knowing most murder trials is handled by the state prosecutors not federal. This tells me they have no experience in court as a defendant, worker or casual observer.

The $1bn dollar they borrowed for security, where is it? You see these nonsense all of you are paid to defend, you will face the consequences as what ever a man does that he will reap, God cannot be mocked
Im not defending waste. I asked you how does Nigeria pay the 1 trillion now you're dodging the question because you know you can't. I answered your questions on where the money comes from. It comes from a mix of borrowing, taxes and grants. You can read the budget and old CBN reports to see the facts. Tell us how you want to fund their demands. You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up to 1 trillion naira. Don't be an emotional about the situation thats not how men should behave that's for children.

You want me to tell you what they should cut? Where did he cut this one from, or our education is not important to you?
Yes be an adult tell how you intend to pay for the 1 trillion they're demanding. Being emotional doesn't pay the bills. I already stated you're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up to 1 trillion naira. He borrowed, taxed or printed to pay 1.4 billion pay because money doesn't grow on trees. Education is important but again it has to be paid for. You can ignore fiscal reality but you can't avoid the consequences of your decisions.

Salary increase cost won't take much, even if it takes much. Govt can fund it.

It's because measures are not in place to generate revenue (esp through agriculture, mineral resources) that's why it looks like we're broke.

And they should reduce unnecessary cost esp In some agemcies.
Tell us how much they're demanding and how you'd fund it sir. When you asked to fund a trillion you wisely backed down to reality. Its easy to be emotional but hard to balance the books. ASUU wanted their money yesterday and don't want to wait for reform to kick in. This funding issue is what the government deals with.
PoliticsRe: ASUU 1.2 Trillion Demand Will Make Poor Students To Drop Out by Blue3k(m): 3:38pm On Aug 07, 2022

Firstly, they can't see 1 trillion collect

The solution I think currently is that, FG should just increase their salaries.
Ok since you admitted their 1 trillion demand is impossible let's move on. Now how much will salary increase cost and how do you plan on funding that alone? You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up.
