Sammy07:Ok sir I'll give you the same challenge I gave to the other gentleman. Tell us how you plan on funding 1 trillion naira needed. You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up to 1 trillion naira. Its easy to be emotional about the situation but were talking about naira and kobo. I also didn't say you have to completely remove subsides. I said students have to take more of the burden and have increased market competition. |
Qtrpst4:Tell us what else you want to cut to reach 1 trillion. You're at 1.4 billion so you have 998.6 billion to go. You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up to 1 trillion naira. |
Biodun556:In the words of Thomas Sowell there's no solutions only tradeoffs. What you're witnessing the fundamental issue economics grapples with. How do people deal with scare resources. If you want poor to go to school so badly make sure there's market competition for universities, be prepared to pay taxes or privately fund these students through scholarships, grants. The poor will have to work a part time job or take loans while in school. University may not be for everyone and that's a tradeoff people must accept. The universities do need to charge for their services competing with state and private universities. As said before you can still pay your subsides. The students have to be their primary customer not the tax payers. |
grandstar:Nobody talks about the last one because they're usually statist who want to give more power to their governors under guise of resource control. You might be surprised how these retards argued with me on thread I opened years ago outlining issues with land use act and monopoly of mineral resources. Both are reason banks don't like loaning to miners and farmers, lack of titled land, added expenses and lastly why individuals don't personally collect royalty payment like in the United States. They could replace it with limited eminent domain laws but hey that would be too reasonable. |
In what sort of democracy do you arrest your own citizens and detain them for years without any charge? Where is the justice in that? Is it the DSS that determines guilt or the courts?A law must be enacted to make something that's already illegal double Illegal. |
The group opposed the government’s decision, describing the schools as a common patrimony of Oyo State people. "He cannot give them out just like that after government has spent billions of Oyo State taxpayers' money on adding more, renovating, purchasing equipment and maintaining the infrastructure, paying teachers' salaries, etc. for more than 50 years."Lol when you don’t build your own institutions you're left at the mercy of you're perceived socio-political rivals. You guys sat your hands 50 years with nothing to show that's pathetic. This is why you shouldn't support cronyism/corporatism in the first place. Let private institutions be private institutions and keep your tax naira. The state never bought the school so you're out luck it seems. |
The industrial dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities may worsen following the insistence of the Federal Ministry of Education that its proposed agreement with the union will not be binding on state universities. Can anyone explain why the FG should include state universities in negotiations when they dont work for them? Its insane this basic fact is neglected from the conversation. The state university lecturers should bother their employers the state government. |
Academicwizman:I told you what I'd do. The truth is all that's necessary. If they don't accept oh well no big deal. They can stagnate in poverty and disfunction as they please. Lol it's unpopular so what? Unpopular policies pass all the time with little push back. They protest and strike in I'll simply fire people ban them from the civil service like Ronald Reagan. If they're private sector another company will fill the void. |
Academicwizman:I think they're a lost cause but I'll just give textbook arguements. If I deregulate that incentives producers to invest in those areas. The price will fall accordingly. Keeping the price controls causes shortages and increases your tax burden to pay subsidies. Deregulation makes it cheaper for you to do business making meaning more money in your pockets. Your state is always free to impose whatever regulation on that level. |
Pro market policies: off the top of my head • no more multiple exchange rates • deregulated industry (generally make it easier to start and do business) • remove price controls • no more important ban list • land & mineral rights reform: ownership to individuals instead of federal government monopoly of ownership. |
Dr. Jim expressed sadness that the challenges that created misunderstandings, distrust, low acceptance of heterogeneity Dr. Okolo stated thus, "the diversity of Nigerians is a blessing and as such should be maximised by political actorsSure it is.

Lol
|
Anti market polices doing exactly what you'd expect. Lol I'm impressed they shot themselves in both feet and kept pushing forward. “I can tell you authoritatively, we have not deregulated. The government is still subsidizing petrol prices. If there are increases in price, it is not from the government,” “I will talk to the Authority to ensure that they actually regulate the price. This is not from the government, we have not deregulated,” |
Parachoko:My mistake 19 states? 2/3 of states must ratify it. It would be nice idea to give them a time table to vote it up or down. |
Lol says the admin that refuses to publish crime stats. No they don't according to NOIPoll survey. In other news lions are still carnivorous.
|
Some of the alterations supported final autonomy of state legislature, judiciary, local government and independent candidacy among others.I lost count how many other states have ratified these amendments? |
wiseoneking:Lol this thread will get deleted but is this for real? |
SadiqBabaSani:This made me chuckle.. |
Typicool8:Lol the legislature at all levels are cowardly. The can't override a veto not to talk about impeachment. I will believe it when I see it from them. The first NASS did a veto override to pass NDDC. I can't tell you an example of state assemblies ever doing such a thing. |
Lol would u guys start crying if he were removed from the bench? |
seunmsg:Devil advocate/rebuttal 1. Why does they FG have to completely stop funding the university for it to work? The state universities are working and didn't participate in the strike. They could just follow the second half of you suggestions and let university set their tuition rates and fees and compete with eachother. If they want more money then go face your customers the students. 2. What leverage do the clowns at the FG have to disband their national union? They don’t have the balls to fire anyone like Ronald Reagan did striking federal workers. Just look how they said solidarity strike with NLC was illegal and nothing happened. Honestly you suggestions in part 1 will do more to break the unions leverage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoCvtt8EFPI

Lol the NASS are funny folk. The are always worried about how to treat the symptoms instead of curing the disease. They want to ban him from joining politics but they couldn't care less if he does his job.
|
Lol the same CBN that has not released reports he mandated by law to. The didn't enforce that rule but now they want to talk.. |
Is blasphemy a federal crime? |
ivolt:Lol a cowardly society always finds an excuse not to ask pertinent questions. Religion, tribe or citizenship, rent/own property would all be interesting. It would stop weirdos from making declaration like this state is 60% this religion. |
Lol they striked. |
Lol did he ever have good posture? |
Madmohamed1:The SSS/DSS are tasked with protecting him. Relay your message to them. Keep this thread as bragging rights if you are correct. |
Lol every day the court sentence someone to death and yet nobody can remember the last time a death warrant was signed. Clear them out of the prisons.
|
Lol subject of Ymir here me. I guess he forgot this isn't a monarchy or he's been binge watching AOT. |
omoredia:Lol they nass are pansies that won't even override a veto. Nigerians election beta males as their legislatures at all levels to be rubber stamps to the executive. Even if they weren't pansies they are either party men who won't do it or their constituents they represent might not like it. This isn't to say it not possible it just to say its a long shot. |
