What an idiot killed you're fellow man because of 100 naira tab. Now your ex girlfriend going to find a new man while you await your execution or life sentence. Nigeria needs to start giving recruits psychological evaluations before letting them join police force.
This emotionally unstable guy should have never been given a badge or gun. Who knows what he was doing on patrol.
The police in Adamawa State have confirmed the death of a sergeant from gunshot by a corporal, allegedly following a feud over a girl.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the death of the officer “over a minor disagreement.”
The incident happened at a bar in Madagali Local Government Area of the state.
A witness who refused to be named said the two officers had a spat over the girl said to be an alcohol seller and the girlfriend of the corporal.
“They had a hot argument had on Tuesday over one alcohol seller who is girlfriend to Corporal Adamu. She had complained that late Sergeant Timothy did not pay a N100 bill for his drink.
“He initially took a shot of a local gin and demanded for another shot. This situation provoked Corporal Adamu, who warned Sergeant Timothy to be careful with his utterance to his girlfriend or he would be dealt with mercilessly.
“And true to his words, Corporal Adamu cocked his rifle and shot Timothy, killing him on the spot and causing pandemonium,” the witness said.
Police spokesperson, Mr. Abubakar, told PREMIUM TIMES that an officer “shot his colleague over a minor disagreement.”
“Reports from the area indicated that it was on Tuesday morning at about 11 : 00 a.m, when Corporal Bala Adamu and his colleague late Sergeant Emmanuel Timothy attached to 13 Squadron Police Mobile Force, Makurdi on special duties in Madagali, engaged each other in a hot argument that resulted to the corporal killing the sergeant with his rifle.”
He said the corporal had been arrested ,while the corpse of the slain officer had been deposited at the Yola Specialist Hospital Mortuary.
“The case has since been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Cid, at the state headquarters and investigation has commenced,” Mr. Abubakar said.
agabusta: This country sef, one does not know what to believe again. The modified agreement was signed in 2016, which reverted back the plant to Nigeria and gave the iron mining company to that GINL. And it was done with so much fanfare.
It was VP Osinbajo that signed as Acting President of Nigeria. see pictures below, it even graced the front page of Nairaland.
Who knows maybe the reporters are wrong. It's a weird situation with these plants. I don't understand what business London arbitration court has if they already settled out of court.
agabusta: Is this issue still going in circles? I thought the plant has been reverted back to Nigeria, while the iron ore mining company was given to that Indian company.
They lied apparently. That out of court settlement must have been on a handshake instead of writing. It's same way he came out to say Fayemi came out say ALSCON ownership crisis has been solved only for appeal court to make a fool at out him.
baralatie: when fg is ready for business it knows what to do.right now I am just laughing out loud
There no way they're going to hand them a budget them a billion dollars a plant that's legally uncertain. If they get unfavorable rulling them they sank money into plant for nothing.
Hmm this weird considering Fayemi went bragging to media all legal encumbrances were solved the other day. If London arbitration court rules against Nigeria whats plan b. I wonder what law makers are think when tgey hear budget us 1.2 billion dollars and all the issues will be solved. The 55 MW plant being ready in 3 months sounds good (if plant belongs to them).
ABUJA—THE Federal Government yesterday gave an insight into why it had been difficult to fully concession the Ajaokuta Steel Plant, citing legal encumbrances from the decision of the London Court of Arbitration over the ownership of Ajaokuta Steel Complex, ASC.
Disclosing this in Abuja during the 2018 Budget defence of the Ministry before the Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, PDP, Abia South led Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said until all issues from the London Court of Arbitration were addressed, it would be difficult to ensure full concessioning of the steel complex.
Though the legal issue exists, Fayemi was, however, optimistic that concessioning of both the Ajaokuta Steel Plant and the National Iron Ore Mining Company at Itakpe, both in Kogi State would be accomplished this year.
This came as the Sole Administrator of AtSC, Sumaila Abdul-Akaba, told the committee that a 2010 audit report had indicated that $1.2 billion was required to turn around the moribund steel plant.
The sole administrator said the amount included balance of external infrastructure, noting that $513 million was for rehabilitation, completion and commissioning while 4687 would be used for balance of external infrastructure.
Sumaila Abdul-Akaba who appealed to the committee to ensure the total rehabilitation, completion and commissioning of the steel complex describing the plant as viable, also told the committee that by April 55 mw electricity plant installed in the complex would soon come on stream.
According to him, there were 10,000 houses in the complex with about 4,000 completed, assuring the committee that machines installed in the complex were first class, “all we need to do is to sort out legal issues surrounding Ajaokuta Steel to bring the plant to run.”
He noted that over $10 billion steel imported into the country annually could be save if Ajaokuta was brought on stream.
Corroborating the Sole Administrator, the Minister, said that $ 1.2 billion was required to achieve total rehabilitation, completion and commissioning of the plant, noting that of the total sum required, $513million was earmarked for rehabilitation while $687 million was to be expended for balance of external infrastructure.
Ladyhippolyta88: God bless the lawmaker that brought this bill. The woman has every right to choose for herself the one she wants. As for the Ebonyi lawmaker he should go and sit down and let the women choose for themselves.I can't believe some of the lawmakers we have in this country are chauvinistic and misogynistic.
Which origin would you choose if you had choice and why?
Women will likely pick what ever affords them best economic benefit assuming they work government job where this matters.
State of origin is stupid concept anyway. We should just focus on residence just like United States. Example if you move to Texas newly you will pay out of state tuition fee for university. After living her 12 months you qualify for instate tuition just like every other Texan. (Just do it before registration)
Another example I can add is office holding. Hillary Clinton was born and raised in Chicago Illinois but she became a New York Senator because lived their long enough to qualify.
A bill for an Act to amend Federal Character Commission (FCC) Act to give married women the option to choose indigenehip and other related matters passed second reading at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Edward Pwajok (Plateau-APC) seeks to address the issue of indigenship of married women in the country. Leading the debate, Pwajok said the extant law was discriminatory against women as a man’s indegenship was never questioned even when he married many wives.
The lawmaker said married women had been subjected to psychological trauma on the legal uncertainty of their indigenous identity in the country.
He added that upon marriage, women’s status remained unclear as to whether they were indigenes of their father’s or husband’s homeland.
According to him, women in public service are usually confronted with the dilemma during promotion into directorate cadre.
“We are witnesses to how the promotion of a female justice was delayed on account of indigenship,” he said. Pwajok said there had been several efforts, including an attempt to alter the constitution to resolve the situation but did not succeed.
The legislator said the culture could be patriarchal but democracy and civilisation should give married women the option of choosing where to belong to.
He noted that if the bill was passed into law, the National Assembly would have solved the problem without altering the constitution.
However, Rep. Sylvester Ogbaga (Ebonyi-PDP) said the bill was misguided, adding that there was no need to allow women to make the choice of indigenship.
He argued that once a woman got married to a man, the two had become one and should share in the origin of the man as presently constituted.
Other legislators contributed against and in favour of the bill. Consequently, the Speaker of the House, Rep. Yakubu Dogara, referred the bill to the Committee on Federal Character for further legislative actions. (NAN)
NothingDoMe: You used to be objective. I guess desperation to save a dying and failed leader has affected your head.
Lol my plan worked. I troll then the thread hits front page. You guys crawled out wood work to brag and boast. Seriously the project was supposed to be concession back in 2013.
[quote author=LZAA: wait Amaechi is igbo? wow who knew? but i thought lagos ibadan press said he is frm rivers and the lion of ubima na now say this slowly: igbo amaka cc imhotep
You should read more interviews by Amaechi. He said out if his own mouth he considers himself an Igbo man. His first name is Rotomi because that's the name of a man his father respected.
post=64654527: You are very ignorant, southeast are major importers and hub of commerce in Nigeria, bitter soul same you opened thread few days ago where NIM boss said southeast business guys import ,45% of containers in Nigeria
Lol I posted the story to the website. I already know about that statement. It doesn't change fact the government is yet concession port. The SE ports are effectively sidelined. Lol it's funny how a little trolling get you guys to comment on story when it's time to chest beat.
Check the date of your story and tell me I'm wrong. Also remember it's been 4 years since port was completed. Most likely he made a slip off tongue. You see both quotes below.
Whoever says the port is not viable does not have the economics. 40 percent, about 45 percent of the cargoes that come to Nigeria end up in the south eastern market. How are they going there, by road?
SGF Boss Mustapha
So if 40 percent or 45 percent of the cargo that come to Nigeria is bound for the eastern market, then movement on the waterways is the most adequate in terms of cost, in terms of movement in bulk.
SlayerSupreme: The Op and the useless Boss Mustapha are a big part of the reason Nigeria is a shithole. The government playing favoritism at the national level will only drive the country up the list of shithole countries around the world. Commissioning dead projects in the North like that railway to Niger republic will only continue to sink the nation economically and mind you,in spite of all these gimmicks, the Igbo people you're targeting will always be better off.
Lol it's my fault your your politicians North and South both sideline you? Lol it's like you forgot Amaechi the self describes Igbo man is minister of transport. It's funny you bring up Niger rail when buhari is simply copying Jonathan's example. Can u explain how I'm targeting you? Try reading my initial comment before answering.
Everyone knows SE ports don't matter. That's why Jonathan and buhari won't bother concessioning port. There's more important projects up north to attend to.
“Giving the great economic importance of the Baro Port to the country, discussion on it resonated at the recent commissioning of the Dry Inland Cargo Port at Kaduna by Mr. President”.
The federal government dumb for not just concessioning the port and scoring easy political points. They could have done it at the same time the did the dry ports. Anyway the federal government still has other river ports to complete and dredge if the want to follow EGRP.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and immediate former managing director of National Inland Waterway Authority (NIWA), Boss Mustapha has assured the Niger State Government that the Baro River Port will be delivered by the Federal Government this year.
However, he was silent on the endless readiness for the concessioning of Onitsha River Port completed more than four years ago.
For uncountable times, business stakeholders and traditional rulers form the South East had approached the federal government to kick start the port operations at the Onitsha River Port since the beginning of this administration, but no clear response has been received.
National Daily recalls that during the visit of the Vice president to Nnewi last year, South East Business Community cried to Prof Yemi Osinbajo to commission the port.
Though the Vice president assured that government will consider that on his return, January this marks his meeting with the South East stakeholder more than five months and nothing has happened as the facility repaired by former administration with over N4bn rot away.
On the completion of Baro Port, the SGF assured the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello in his office, that all procurement processes are already completed and that the Central Bank of the Nigeria (CBN) has issued Letter of Credit while manufacturers have so far been committed.
According to him, “Giving the great economic importance of the Baro Port to the country, discussion on it resonated at the recent commissioning of the Dry Inland Cargo Port at Kaduna by Mr. President”.
Only Pervert pastors manipulates gullible unthinking followers into doing sex acts. They should know better if they actually read their bible. Why should the pastor who's not married to you be instructing you to do sexual acts?
I suck women’s breasts to deliver them from evil spirit — Pastor Sharp SharpBy Eugene Agha, Lagos | Publish Date: Jan 29 2018 6:31PM
A self-acclaimed pastor, identified as Raphael Obi, has admitted sucking the breast of women to deliver them from what he called the evil spirit tormenting them.
The suspect, known among his disciples as Pastor Sharp Sharp, disclosed this while being interrogated by detectives at the Area M Command, Idimu.
In his confessional statement to the police, Raphael said that his brand of deliverance ministry involved sucking of women’s breasts.
The suspect, who hails from Enugu State, explained that he sucked women’s breasts to deliver them from killer diseases, including cancer. He added that after sucking thoroughly, the woman being delivered would not be affected with such diseases in future.
He claimed, "I received this call from God and I have delivered many women in the past."
The police told City News that the self-acclaimed pastor was arrested last Thursday while performing the strange form of deliverance on the wife of a member of his church.
The incident happened in his church on Abaranje Road by Cele bus stop, Ikotun, Lagos State.
The police at Area M Command, Idimu, Alimosho local government area of Lagos State, arrested Obi for alleged gross misconduct, sucking of breasts and engaging victims in marathon sex in the guise of deliverance.
When our correspondent visited the command at the weekend, Obi was still being detained in cell over what the police said were the latest discoveries in his church and house at the weekend.
It was gathered that the police searched his house and discovered some charms he had tied on baby dolls, which they removed and brought to the police station as exhibits.
Police sources said Obi would soon be charged to court for misconduct.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, said he had not yet been briefed on the matter and promised to call back after receiving notes on the outcome of investigation.
Coming from the guy who can't type witgout making a Run on sentence. I edited the comment after I longed back in.
Bluffly: What do you expect, when the enlightened ones are not more than 10%. The rest are primitive.
Even the so called enlightened will surprise me. If government wants to start annother national carrier they'll celebrate like NNPC and NRC aren't terrible. .
Lol the statue erector needs to stop drinking his cheap booze. There's been zero recorded death as a result of marijuana overdose. Robbers have killed way more individuals in imo and around country. Legally speaking robbery has higher plenty.
I hope people demanding Igbo presidency don't pick this clown 2023. He'd rather have more violent criminals on street than non violent ones.
Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, has said it’s better for youths to be armed robbers than to be involved in smoking marijuana.
The governor made the remark while addressing some youths of the state.
In a video retrieved online, the governor, who spoke in Igbo could also be heard briefing the people on development plans he had for the community when he made the statement.
Okorocha, apparently emphasising on the danger of marijuana said, “You all know what the law says about Marijuana(weed)? Weed has killed my Children in Imo state. Anybody selling weed or consuming it, that person’s house will be demolished.
“Where we are now, it is better for someone to be an Armed Robber than to Smoke weed”.
This is why government shouldn't manage things. What possible excuse is there not to online ticket sales in 2018. Just scan the boarding pass like airlines do every single day.
Officials at the Rigasa Railway Station of the Abuja-Kaduna rail lines have been accused of hoarding tickets from intending purchasers, thereby subjecting them to unnecessary hardship.
THISDAY checks at the station yesterday revealed an ugly situation where ticket sellers were heavily involved in racketeering.
THISDAY met a chaotic scene when it visited the station as passengers who queued up were later seen running helter-skelter trying to obtain the ticket.
A particular staff in charge of tickets, Mr. Nabasa, allegedly left intending purchasers who were on queue to personally sell tickets to those he felt could afford it at a high price to the amazement of everyone.
The situation at Rigasa, according to a passenger, has shown that the much talked-about change by the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has not yielded any results.
A particular passenger who agreed to speak to THISDAY after some subtle persuasion, said the best solution to ticket racketeering was the introduction of online purchases.
According to him, “My name is Jemilu Dabo, a staff of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), I came here (train station) around 12:30p.m.“Actually I joined the queue but, unfortunately I was told that the ticket was finished. But I have to call someone to be able to get one at a higher price.”
He added: “The person I called is a staff of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), and he is here at the Rigasa Rail Station. I gave him about N3,000 for me and my friend for the standard class as against the normal price of N1,050. And he immediately gave me the same ticket he said was finished.”
He said: “My suggestion is that the federal government should introduce the online ticketing just the same way you book for flights. The introduction of online ticketing will go a long way to reduce bureaucracy and hoarding on the part of the management as well as enhance speedy services thereby saving passengers unnecessary hardship of joining the queue in an attempt to obtain the ticket.
“Though the online could affect those who cannot read or write, however, for those who have the capability for online, he or she can ease their problem of coming to join the queue.”
He however, said some people may not like the idea and some people may not know even how to book online, adding that “there should also be more publicity like advertising on Radio and television as well as social media.”
On the security situation at the rail station, Dabo said: “There is no adequate security to curtail the chaotic situation at the station especially when obtaining tickets. Government should improve the security at the train station.”
Also, Mr. Muhammed Kebir Ibrahim, who was on his way to Abuja from Kebbi State, called for automation of tickets to avoid racketeering.
He told THISDAY that if need be “the government should engage consultants or a financial institution to handle the sales of tickets to avoid financial leakages.”
Continuing, he said: “If a status quo must be maintained, a law should be in place to discourage any operational staff from engaging in ticket selling.”
Similarly, the Police Officers attached to the Abuja-Kaduna rail lines, who bare their minds on the state of things, complained about lack of being motivated by the management of the NRC.
Meanwhile, the coach from Rigasa station in Kaduna to Abuja broke down at the Rijana station due to mechanical fault, THISDAY also learnt.
Against the backdrop of the massacre of scores of people in Mubi and surrounding communities in Adamawa State a fortnight ago and violent clashes by communities in Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, the Nigerian Airforce is to establish new Forward Operations Bases in Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.
In Mubi, the Airforce will reactivate its Forward Operations Base which had been left dormant and underutilized for years.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who made the disclosure at the end of the first quarter 10-Kilometers Route March exercise for officers of the NAF headquarters and formations in Abuja, yesterday, also disclosed that the NAF will establish an Annex for the Mobility Command in Akwa Ibom.
Meanwhile, NAF fighter aircraft, on Thursday, neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the Sambisa general area. According to a statement from NAF headquarters, “A NAF Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform had sighted several BHTs on vehicles and gun trucks, which were carefully concealed in a forested area.
“Consequently, three NAF fighter aircraft were detailed to provide Close Air Support to own surface forces, which also engaged the insurgents.
“The fighter aircraft launched a bomb attack on the insurgents’ defensive positions while another wave of bomb attacks was launched at the insurgents’ gun trucks and vehicles, causing one them to go up in flames”.
NATIONALPASTOR: In akwaibom, we are not Muslim terrorists. We are Christians only.
Cey cry baby....no place for Muslim terrorists in the South South and Southeast.
Lol I guess you guys like yourself also uneducated in Akwa Ibom aswell. If the money was spent on education you wouldn't have typed this nonsensical response to me. The state shouldn't be building churches anyway. You're the same ilk that cried our oyel money when Jigawa decided to build mosque in same stupid manner.
Lol there's no logical consistency with you people.
What did they do with the old lodge then? We see they like wasting cash on real estate ventures. A good example is the 10,000 seat church under construction.
Mr Okon said the new building was started in June, last year, to replace the old lodge located at Bishop Aboyade Cole Street in Victoria Island, the area which is now used more for commercial purposes than residential.
