Stop posting vile junks from pained souls.
The blind author claimed Yorubas made oil compainies locate their head offices in Lagos but I can tell you from experience that most of these companies ran out of the ND due to security challenges. And we all know the Yorubas didn't partake of amnesty when some of the ND guys were dropping their arms. I grew up to see this firsthand as it happened.
I'll post what ever I please. This thread has been very entertaining for me. I'll more articles like this if appear in my Google searches.

The militants Ondo aren't Yorubas? I'm supposed to believe its thousands of people from neighboring states without any local recruiting. Why bother including Ondo I'm ND amnesty program then.

by Hon. Freeman Kashiari Emefiele

Have you ever asked yourself why out of a country of over 150 million people, boasting of 36 states and a federal capital territory, why all the fully functional ports are located only along the axis of the South West?

https://www.lnc-usa.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/kashiari_emefiele-001.jpg
Hon. Kashiari Freeman Emefiele, a sociopolitical activist and businessman, lives in Dubai, UAE.

Why have the Port Harcourt, Onne, Onitsha inland port, Warri, and Calabar ports never come into full operation and functionality? This has been the mischievous game plan of the Yoruba since the end of the Civil War in order to maintain Lagos ports as the singular functional seaport destination. They also directed all oil companies to have their corporate headquarters in Lagos.

They know that the successful functionality of ports in other viable regions would be a game changer for the Southsouth and Southeastern regions. You’d watch how industry, trade and commerce would exponentially rise in these regions and displace Lagos of its economic monopoly.

The Yoruba think they can continue to work against the economic progress of other regions by making sure that only the Lagos seaports work. They should be ready to continue contending for the ownership of Lagos with others and also suffer the effects of overpopulation and the strain on Lagos infrastructures. You can’t eat your cake and still have it.

Ports in Southsouth and Southeast regions failed because the Yoruba see they were a huge threat to Lagos monopoly of all importation. The only resources the Yoruba have, which they term as “natural resources”, are the ports situated in their region. Their monopolizing of ports in Nigeria is a big cause for concern.

I call it the root of all evil befalling Nigeria. Many do not know the implication to the development of other regions in the South.

https://www.lnc-usa.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/lagos_port-001.jpg
Huge numbers of containers enter Nigeria’s ports in the Lagos metropolis laden with imported goods and leave mostly empty due to dearth of export goods from the Southwest

All the ports in other regions, other than Lagos axis, have to be rendered redundant due to Yoruba greed, in collaboration with the North, to make sure that no serious economic activity happens in Southeast/Southsouth. The North is afraid of any major developmental stride in the Southsouth and Southeast without them because, as things stand with the GDP from these regions, a seaport is bound to further enrich these states in the Southsouth and Southeast (a. k. a. Lower Niger).

Why is the Federal Government siting all ports only in the Southwest region? Does it mean other regions along eastern Atlantic shoreline are “landlocked”?

As if Apapa Wharf and Tincan Island ports are not enough, behold came the new Badagry seaport as well. Allow me to affirm that Badagry seaport is primarily for the expansion of the economic potentials of Lagos state and Yoruba, in particular – then, maybe Nigeria, in general. There is also the conspiracy of the French concessioned owners of Tincan Container port who currently enjoy a monopoly in the business with the backing of the Yoruba. Opening up another port to the Southeast will surely reduce traffic to their wharfs and hence boast economic blossom for the Southeastern business-orientated industry which would benefit immensely from a container-capable seaport.

The central Nigerian government can manage all our seaports and collect all the taxes generated from various ports. But because our system is highly tribalistic, the Yoruba remain the ultimate beneficiaries since Nigeria’s existence for another century isn’t guaranteed.

The Tinapa project died a natural death for same reason. They placed all kinds of bureaucratic roadblocks to frustrate Cross River’s developmental opportunities embedded in the Tinapa project. They saw the international attention and recognition the Tinapa project was amassing and this scared the Yoruba to their bones.

Another example is the Ibaka Deep Seaport project within the deep waters of Akwa Ibom State which also died a natural death as a result of Yoruba placing some highly placed persons working in tandem with some officials of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to present that the Ibaka seaport project as not viable.

This conspiracy against Akwa Ibom State discredited the seaport project under a “non-viability cover”, despite the fact that the Federal Government had set up an implementation committee to facilitate preparatory works and captured the project in the 2014 budget, having been convinced that the port would boost the nation’s economy and that of the West African sub-region.

Just like airports, categorization determines the capacity of the port. Enugu Airport was categorized in 2015 as an international airport which saw that international carriers operate in and out of the airport.

If the same FG refuses to categorize the seaports in the Southeast coastline for importation but rather maintains them as mere oil tanker jetties and export ports, then little can be achieved economically for the ports of Warri, Calabar, Onne, Port Harcourt and even the yet to be constructed Ibaka seaport which died a natural death.

Do you think all these repeated acts of marginalization are mistakes? Those who think its mere coincidence or happenstance need to wake up from their slumber fast!

https://www.lnc-usa.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/badagry_seaport-001.jpg
Mock-up graphics of proposed Badagry deep seaport for Lagos. When completed, Lagos shall be served by 3 deep seaports while other locations east of the River Niger have none.

The Yoruba come up with insolent lies and blame the non-functionality of ports in Southsouth and Southeast regions to be attributed to insecurity in the Southsouth region. I then ask: How come this same “insecurity” didn’t stop petroleum activities in that same region the way it “affected” commercial seaport activities as is being claimed?

How come other businesses, especially individual businesses, still strive there in the Niger Delta and Southeast regions despite the “insecurities”? Please, enlighten us why this “insecurity” hasn’t affected businesses in this region as well?

We are wiser now and the propaganda that the Yoruba have long gotten away with regarding seaport monopoly has to end!

Postscript

Personal remarks by Chris Aniedobe:This is a big deal. This is the key to bringing Igbo businesses back home.

We have had a Southsouth President and now a Southsouth Minister of Transport. Yet, they couldn’t put steam on this matter. The Yoruba are no longer to blame for Lagos monopoly. Blame 100 percent squarely on the clueless President from Otueke. There was nothing we did not do to convince that mumu that this is more important to Ndigbo than second Niger bridge and would leave a lasting legacy for him.

Six wasted years. All he did was run from ndi Ugwu.

No census. No seaport. No restructuring. Nothing. The man just blew a historic mandate.

What are we to do? Keep pressing. Seaports are exclusively Federal. Here is another way the vexatious 1999 Constitution puts us under lock and key. Otherwise, there is no bigger investment nor more strategic investment for Ndiigbo than to stop needing Lagos by reopening the shuttered SE economy gateway to the Atlantic and the whole world.

Biko, don’t read that article and stop. Read it and share it with commentaries of your own.

That Honorable Emefiele just woke up – Taa bu gboo. Hopefully, we will all wake up too and fight smart

Not surprised most if the kidnapping occurs in the eastern half of Nigeria. I do agree with senator about soft touch alongside military solution. Nigeria should continue building up naval presence.

Eromosele Abiodun writes that the report by the International Maritime Bureau on rising cases of piracy in Nigeria focused on government agencies responsible for tackling the menace

Recently, the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) released a report naming Nigeria as one of the hotspots for sea piracy.

The IMB in the report said: “Of the 27 seafarers kidnapped worldwide for ransom between January and March 2017, 63 per cent were in the Gulf of Guinea. Nigeria is the main kidnap hotspot with 17 crew taken in three separate incidents, up from 14 in the same period in 2016.

“All three vessels – a general cargo ship, a tanker and a bulk carrier were attacked while underway 30-60 nautical miles off the Bayelsa coast. Three more ships were fired upon at up to 110 nautical miles from land, and many other attacks are believed to go unreported.”

Director of IMB, Pottengal Mukundan, said: “The Gulf of Guinea is a major area of concern, consistently dangerous for seafarers, and signs of kidnappings increasing. IMB has worked closely with the response agencies in the region including the Nigerian Navy, which has provided valuable support, but more needs to be done to crack down on the area’s armed gangs. We urge vessels to report all incidents so that the true level of piracy activity can be assessed.”

IMB said guns were used in 18 of the incidents and vessels were underway in 17 of the 20 reported attacks.

IMB further stated that 39 of the 49 crew members kidnapped globally occurred off Nigerian waters in seven separate incidents. Other crew kidnappings in 2017 have been reported 60 nautical miles off the coast of Nigeria.

“In total, 92 vessels were boarded, 13 were fired upon, there were 11 attempted attacks and five vessels were hijacked in the first nine months of 2017, “it stated.

The flagship global report noted that, while piracy rates were down compared to the same period in 2016, there is continuing concern over attacks in the Gulf of Guinea and in South East Asia.

Who’s Responsibility?

Since the report was released a number of attacks have been recorded, showing that government agencies responsible for the monitoring and foiling of attacks are clearly failing in their responsibility.

Put simply, Section 22 (P) of the NIMASA Act provides opportunity for the agency to provide maritime security.  The obvious question then will be why the agency is not doing what is necessary to put an end to piracy in Nigerian waters. For those who don’t know, the NIMASA only last year awarded a surveillance contract worth billions of naira, a move that was intended to check raising cases of piracy and other vices in Nigerian waters. This has not happened and no one seems to care. Late last year, the United States of America, through its Maritime Administration, warned ships to be wary when approaching Nigerian waters.

“Two incidents have been reported in the Gulf of Guinea in the past six days. The first reportedly occurred south of Port Harcourt, Nigeria at 0600 GMT on October 21, 2017. The second reportedly occurred in the vicinity of 03-35.50N 006-49.20E at 1905 GMT on October 25, 2017; both incidents have been confirmed, “it said in a report.

“The nature of the first incident was piracy and kidnapping; the nature of the second incident was piracy,” it noted.

Quoting the latest quarterly report from the IMB, the US Maritime Administration stated that “the latest quarterly report from the International Maritime Bureau notes that a total of 20 reports of attacks against all vessel types were received from Nigeria, 16 of which occurred off the coast of Brass, Bonny and Bayelsa. In general, all waters in and off Nigeria remain risky, despite intervention in some cases by the Nigerian Navy. We advise vessels to be vigilant, “it concluded.

The US advisory report to ship masters and owners further warned that ship transiting Nigerian waters to be cautious and seek further information, even as it stated that the alert subsists until November 2, 2017.

Deadly Waters

Late last year, the Director General of  NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside confirmed the U.S maritime administration report that Nigeria water is deadly and unsafe.

Dakuku stated this against the backdrop of Nigeria’s loss of a seat in Category C of the International ‎Maritime Organisation (IMO), noting that  country’ insecure and unsafe water contributed immensely to the  election loss.

Speaking ‎‎to Journalists at the end of a meeting of the ‘G7 Friends of Gulf of Guinea Group’ in Lagos‎, he  ‎ explained that G7 Friends of the Gulf of the Guinea Group is one of the international initiatives Nigeria is leveraging on to strengthen fight against piracy and other criminal activities on the sea.

The NIMASA boss said ‎the impression of the international community is that Nigeria was not doing enough to tackle the challenge adding that it contributed immensely to Nigeria losing the election.‎

“I cannot deny the fact that the issue of piracy may have had some impact on the elections. Our colleagues did not have much information about what we were doing to tackle piracy and there was a general impression that Nigeria was not doing enough to tackle the issue of piracy,” he said

Also, speaking on the amount spent on the lost election, the DG said a whopping N100million was expended on Nigeria failed election bid.

“NIMASA spent less than N100million for the IMO campaign and it was only three delegates that attended the conference from NIMASA, “he said.

He explained that countries like Singapore, China, and United Arab Emirates attended the IMO with highest number of delegates.

Speaking further on why Nigeria lost out of the IMO Election, Dskuku identified late preparations, delay from the Federal Executive Council and recession as another reason why the country lost.

“Also, late preparations and the fact that we did not go round other countries like others did, it would have cost plenty of money but we are not willing to spend such money. We had considered economic factors in context of our political aspirations.

“It is Nigeria that ran for IMO category C, and for you to use the name Nigeria, you must get the approval of the man who is managing all the country, the president just got elected, so it would have gone through a process, we have lost some time but the approval eventually came, after we got the approval, there are also budgetary processes to go through, even if the approval was given two years ago, we also need to do the background work to get budgetary provision for it before we begin the campaign, all of these things affected our early preparations.

“But now that we know better, we are starting the next preparations immediately, because we deserve a place in the council of the IMO, these are what we meant by late preparations, “he explained.

Lasting Solution

However, to find a lasting solution to piracy, Dakuku‎ explained that the G7 Friends of the Gulf of the Guinea Group is one of the international initiatives Nigeria is leveraging on to strengthen the fight against piracy and other criminal activities on the sea.

“What you are seeing now is an international dimension of the fight against piracy and maritime crime which is a new strategy. G7 is an initiative of the group towards finding lasting solution to the issues of security in the gulf of guinea.

“For the first time, they decided to take the program outside the continent of Europe and the lot fell on Nigeria because they think the gulf of guinea suffers the peculiar problem and criminal activities on sea.

Also speaking, Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, Isah Hamma Misau encouraged the group to sustain its intervention beyond the direct anti-piracy policies to ensure that appropriate resources and taxation flow into the region, so that public health, education and employment are equitably offered in the region.

He said that this would help address the underlying socio-economic root causes of piracy in the region.

He added that to boost maritime development on the Gulf of Guinea, there is also the need to strengthen maritime institutions.

Safeguarding Vessels

Meanwhile, Nigeria will spend $186 million to combat piracy in a bid to safeguard its waters and vessels moving in and out of the country.

Transport Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi revealed this in a speech at Nor-Shipping’s inaugural Africa Podium in Oslo, Norway recently. The fund is meant to acquire three new ready-for-war ships, three aircrafts, 12 vessels and 20 amphibious vehicles to combat the menace of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

Amaechi allayed potential investors’ fears of growing security concerns in Nigeria’s seaway amid the rise in attacks by pirates.

He revealed that over the next six months, the Nigerian government would give additional training to its navy, while providing technical and further support to patrol vessels in the region.

“Rest assured, in six months you will no longer be harassed in our waters,” he told the delegates. Amaechi said piracy is not the only issue currently impacting the progress of the maritime sector in Nigeria.

While admitting that eradicating this growing menace was the main priority, Amaechi was keen to point out that Nigeria was also making significant strides in its bid to improve its creaking transport infrastructure.

“All you hear about is efforts to stamp out corruption, but we are working extremely hard to develop transport infrastructure,” he added.

Whether this be roads or railways, the development of ports, the dredging of inland waterways and coastal regions, he said there was huge investment and resources earmarked for projects now and in the future.

PoliticsA’ibom Contributes Over 40% To Buhari’s Achievements- Udoh by Blue3k2(op):
By Harris-Okon Emmanuel

UYO—Akwa Ibom State Government on Thursday declared that it has contributed over 40percent to the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari through revenue accruing to the nation from oil and gas production in the state.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, who stated this, said notwithstanding the immense contribution of the State to the nation coffers, it has been denied several federal projects.

Udoh maintained the state has continued to strive to position itself as a destination of choice for tourists and investors despite the negligence by the federal government, disclosing that the state government has upgraded key facilities within, especially road network and the airport runway to category two to ensure landing even in difficult weather.

Speaking on efforts so far to ensure relocation of offices of International Oil Companies to the state, Udoh said the ongoing 21-storey building embarked upon by Governor Udom Emmanuel would have state-of –the art facilities for offices.

“We know how much ExxonMobil is paying as tax to Lagos State government. Now we are constructing a 21 storey building with the intention to gradually increase it to about 30. This is a smart building with standard facilities for a modern office. So ExxonMobil would no longer have any excuse for not relocating to the state”. he said

He lauded the people of the state who are actively engaging in rice, cocoa and cassava plantation to create wealth for them, but however advised those who were yet to figure out a future plan for themselves to join forces in the fight to move the state to greater heights.

The Information and Strategy Commissioner reminded parents that education was free in the state, aimed at ensuring that every Akwa Ibom child was allowed access to education, stressing that the state government was committed to developing the children in the state.

PoliticsUdom Emmauel: Driving Oil And Gas Economy In Akwa Ibom State by Blue3k2(op):
By Emmanuel Nicholas

Evaluating the methodologies Governor Udom Emmanuel has devised to ensure it brings about a working downstream sector, reveals the following:

1, Development of Ibom Deep Sea Port:

Governor Udom Emmanuel is aware that without a working Sea Port the Downstream will not be able to export their product to other countries for higher profits and it will be difficult to transport the product to other States in Nigeria.

The proposed Ibom Deep Sea Port Project is to cost about $1.7 Billion and the burden of funding the project does not rest squarely on the state Government as the project would be funded via a tripartite arrangement.

The Sea Port Is to be funded by the state and federal Governments as well as by a private investor using a 20-20-60 sharing module. The State and Federal Governments would each contribute 20% of the funding while the private investor would bring in about 60% of the funding.

These are key components of the industrial city

• Petrochemical Industries (eg, fertilizer plant)

• Refineries and Tank- farms for downstream

• Five Star Hotels and manufacturing companies

• Dockyard and watercraft Repair Facilities

• Cargo Handling and Associated activities, skyscrapers offices

-Housing Estate and warehouses

The Ibom Deep Sea Port is designed to be one of the components of proposed Ibom Industrial City and at completion can employ 200,000 workers.

To help in the building of Tank farms, The Federal Government has also granted licence to the Akwa Ibom State Government to establish an international jetty at Ikot Abasi local government area of the state to help the downstream sector in haulage and building of Tank farms and floating Station. The Jetty which will sit in 36 acres of land is a free trade Zone with international business district attached, hotels. Already more than three multinational firms have shown interest in the building of the Jetty. it is a free trade zone , that will also have floating stations, Sky scrapers for offices , warehouses , Airstrip and business community ,shopping malls and financial layout for financial institutions.

Among the downstream companies Governor Udom Emmanuel is partnering with Private sector to bring about are

1, Danium Energy Services, at Mbo. The company has completed a 28M litres petroleum products storage tank farm worth 4 Billion with a private jetty.

2, Hi-Rev Petroleum at Iko, Eastern Obolo, Construction of a Refinery at 40% completion, Whose refinery has a capacity when completed to produce 50,000 barrels per day is rearing to take off. Currently negotiating with CBN for favourable forex to import more equipment to progress work due to instability in forex. Also the refinery is sited at the huge Utapate oil and gas field of which they are the present owners

RESOURCE PETROLEUM LIMITED, This is a 100,000 BPD refinery that the Government is also promoting. All the licenses have been obtained. The land, 96 hectares, has been cleared at a location between Eket and Ibeno and construction of the Refinery has commence .

The government wishes to ensure that no resources of Akwa Ibom State are lost in any abandoned investment; the State has an equity share in AMAKPE REFINERY.

And the Government is also working on resuscitating the Amakpe Refinery. A couple of meetings between parties have been carried out. It is meant to be the first privately owned oil refinery in Nigeria. Government has inspected the facilities and is satisfied. The design and engineering metrics have been finalized, at the manufacturing facility in Pasadena Texas.

The PETROCHEMICAL PLANT is another Refinery plant which will place Akwa Ibom State on the threshold of becoming Nigeria’s, nay Africa’s industrial hub going by the aggressive approach adopted by the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration to massively industrialize the state in line with his campaign promises.

Once the gas purchase agreement with Exxon Mobile is finalized, work will commence immediately,” he said. At the ground breaking event, Mr. Ovia who spoke on the effect the plant would have in the state and the nation in general said: “Petrochemicals are vital to our everyday life- the plastic bottles that allow us to drink sanitary water, the clothes that we wear, the fertilizer that are used to grow crops, the tyres on our cars that brought us here today, the shovel that we will use to break the ground today; the pharmaceuticals we take every day to enjoy a healthy life, are all derivatives of the petrochemicals of some form.”

Another downstream company Akwa Ibom State governor is partnering with the private sector to establish is Delmar Petroleum and Jetty located at Itak Idim Ekpe, Ibeno Local Government Area of the State.

The Chairman Delmar Petroleum and Jetty, Dr Austin Odili congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel for his ability to woo investors and the foresight to plan for the industrialisation of the state saying the investment would yield multiple gains.

He said that the prevailing economic woes experienced in the country would have been averted if the leaders were able to plan ahead of time and assured that the firm, on take off, would produce for both local and International market.

Dr Odilli explained that Delmar Petroleum which is an Oil and Gas trading Company, incorporated in 1993 with specialization in the sales, distribution and storage of Petroleum Products will have access to the deep sea through a conventional Bouy Mooring system for loading and discharging large capacity product tankers from 30kt to 100kt.

Lastly the Governor Udom Emmanuel is poise to ensure Akwa Ibom State is industrialize , which will creates jobs and wealth to both indigenes and residents of the State

Promoted by Port Notel Ocean Terminal  limited, a wholly indigenous firm, it  is designed to be Africa’s premier offshore regional port with a minimum draught of 17 meters, on an artificial island aimed to develop the vast maritime potentials in the region and “ unlock Nigeria’s maritime domain value through a Public-Private-Partnership.”

Victor Akpanika, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company who made this known in a statement said most of the investors are from Europe, Middle East, Asia and United States adding that  “ international development funding partners, foreign institutional investors and Global Terminal Operators” are also seeking to partner with Port Notel for the port development.

Akpanika explained that  the project would be approached through phased development to reduce initial project cost, with ample flexibility for containers, steel products, dry bulk, Liquid Bulk (Including LNG) General Cargo, RoRo and Deep off Shore Logistics Support base amongst others, pointing out the preliminary technical feasibility studies and market investigation reports that started in May 2014  has been completed.

He disclosed that, a corporate – commercial law firm, has been commissioned to undertake detailed legal and regulatory audit of the project with a view to uncovering all applicable laws and authorisations required for “speedy commencement of technical field and site development activities.”

He  did not however say when the construction of the project is expected to begin and the total capital outlay for the artificial island port terminal.

Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has accused the federal government of neglecting the state.

Mr. Emmanuel said the state, despite being the largest producer of oil in the country, has not seen many development projects from the federal government for years.

The governor was speaking on Tuesday during a prayer meeting organised by the state government in Uyo to usher in the New Year.

“We are the largest producer of oil in this country,” Governor Emmanuel said. “I want to challenge the minister of petroleum resources, let them show us a kiosk that is NNPC office in Akwa Ibom, let them show us a kiosk that is the DPR office in Akwa Ibom.

“Let them show us even one reservoir that they say is a petroleum depot in Akwa Ibom,” he said to the cheering of the crowd which included pastors, traditional rulers, politicians and a former governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio, who is the Senate Minority Leader.

The governor said the state government was building a deep seaport in the state which, when completed, will benefit not only Nigeria but other countries as well in the Gulf of Guinea.

He said it was unfortunate that the federal government was not giving the state the needed support for the project.

“We don’t have a choice; as a people that is why we launch our ‘dakkada’ campaign – we say we must rise up to the faith of our greatness as a people.

“We can’t wait for the federal government, we must take our destiny in our hands. We must work for our people. We must serve our people,” Mr. Emmanuel said.

The governor said the federal government could at least reward the Akwa Ibom people for being peaceful.

“Those who are peace-loving also deserve to be rewarded.

“Let the federal government this year look at the infrastructure in Akwa Ibom. We need a road from Calabar to Ikot Ekpene, to Aba and up to Lagos. We need a railway line because the loan that we collected from China to develop railway lines in Nigeria, the repayment of that loan will also come from resources out of Akwa Ibom. So, we also need a rail line that will run throughout coastline.

The governor said despite the lack of federal support, Akwa Ibom, through the effort of the state government, was enjoying a constant supply of electric power.

“Akwa Ibom is God’s own project,” he said. “God is our help in ages past.”

Argue with urself
Lol you no longer want to justify you 80%. Chest beating hard with people ask simple questions. My stats are pulled by the relevant agencies that calculate data if you know better source mention it. Nobody said the statistics are infallible hence why there is revision to stats posted quarterly.

Nothing like "shouting cabal" here im just telling u the fact of how currupt the country is.
Which everyone knows including ur INNER CONSCIENCE.
You suddenly don't know if it's 80%. You called me bias for not agreeing with a claim you don't know and can't prove. You're a silly guy. Lol Igbos control 80-99.99% of import market in fact. This guy was lowballing at 80%.

The economic domainace in importing doesn't translate to lobbying power. The cabal too strong. The cabal also hiding the statistics aswell.

Having power over ports is political and has to do cabalism..
U can argue and say whateva u like.
Im not here for ur normal dumb tribal brawl.

Everybody in nigeria knows igbos has the highest percentage in importation.
You economic power doesn't translate to anything in reality. You agreed 80% of import market controlled by Igbos. There's simply no data to justify this hyperbolic claim. Shouting cabal doesn't change that.

Which SEA are they going to build a port on in ONITSHA?
Nigeria has bad habit if calling things by improper name. He means river port most likely. Even Edo calling their project a seaport. I dint think it is though.

U know its the truth.. but u will still doubt it.
This ia 2018 this.. biasness should stop
Lol truth ke truth ni. Made in Aba statistics. The claim is too hyperbolic to take seriously. Igbos some how collectively control import market economically but have no police lobbying power over ports. It's too hilarious how these contradictions work.

Owerri—Following the new year message by President Muhammadu Buhari, stakeholders in Imo State, yesterday, requested for a seaport to be established in the South-East zone.

Sea port

They made their views known to Vanguard, in Owerri, while reacting to Buhari’s New Year message.

Some argued that the Igbo make up 80 percent of importers of foreign goods in the country and it was wrong for the Federal Government not to consider the zone for a seaport.

They said the neglect of the South-East people  has been the reason the zone has remained underdeveloped.

On the issue of restructuring, they asked President Buhari not to shy away from the reality that what the country needed most is total restructuring.

They reasoned that the inability of the Federal Government to listen to Nigerians was the bane of development in the county.

They added that the 2014 confab report could begin a process for a total restructuring of Nigeria, for the betterment of Nigerians.

In his view on President Buhari’s New Year message, a lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Wisdom Durueke, said: “The New Year message by the government in this country  has become an annual ritual. The  approach is not organised. When you politicize development, you lose out what you intend to achieve.

“One thing we need to know is that we have been talking about it from the time of Shagari, we have been taking about dredging Oguta, we have talked about Onitsha.

“For me, I do not see any reason why the Federal Government cannot get serious in these areas too. We can have two, three seaports as far as I am concerned. The expected work on Onitsha is abandoned.

“So, I want to say, there is nothing wrong in Mr. President looking at his speech and saying, add Onitsha and Oguta.

“On the issue of restructuring, let me quickly say that  there are different school of thoughts on restructuring. Restructuring does not mean balkanization of the country. I think that is where the Federal Government is getting it wrong.

“When you talk of restructuring, you talk of socio-economic and political restructuring of the country. It is to show equity and to promote integration and coexistence. What the federal government should do is to open the door of discussion on the issue of restructuring.”

Speaking also the National President of Igbo National Council, INC, Mr. Chilos Godsent, “We believe that Nigeria should be restructured to be able to have the enabling ground for everything to move in the right direction.

“We are calling for the total restructuring of the polity. A conference of the people, call it National Conference, call it conference of the people.

“Where contributions will emanate from the different continents nations that make up the Nigeria state, we know that the present National Assembly cannot give us an effective constitution that will be all inclusive restructuring.

“Because we know that some of the National Assembly members are not voted by the people, they rigged themselves, they bought the votes through their God-farthers’.

“The President should invoke the 2014 report of the National conference, that was organized by the last regime, that alone can begin a process.

“This stand of the Presidency on the issue of restructuring will affect the Southeast zone, in all ramifications. The present structure of Nigeria does not encourage merit, hard work, it will affect the Southeast because it is the greatest loser in the whole arrangement.

“The Southeast zone needs Seaport more than any part of this country. The Southeast people are the more than 80 percent importers of foreign goods. So, we need a seaport. Let me also, say this the President should make the already established seaports functional before erecting a new one. If not I call it a monumental waste of funds.”

According to Chibike Onyema, “This new year message of a thing ,I am very tired and I want Nigerians to read their own new Year message to their leaders. Nigerians should find a to do away with these crop of politicians. They have brought us more sadness than joy. This what I can say about the new year message of the president.”
