A Successful vote of no confidence means Tinubu is gone What makes you think, the parliaments would not accept bribe like the INEC and the Judiciary? |

Johnjustice: You no get sense, wetin you need IMF to tell you what to do for?
You seem very ignorant and young. Every intelligent person knows that since we started collecting loans from IMF, and they came with all their open borders, trade liberalization policy, this made Nigeria become a lazy importing nation, we got used to being a dumping ground because IMF will force you to open your borders for their American and European exports... Nigeria had no zeal to produce anymore...hence naira started falling from then till now. Check Nigeria economy before IMF came in...we were producing most of what we eat and use and exporting...the naira was one naira to one British pound, in the early 1980s, our economy had real value then, Nigeria went to IMF to seek loans in the late 1980s, since then till now our currency has been falling.
Tell me one benefit of IMF to Nigeria, and don't tell me they asked us to deregulate our telecoms because that is nonsense, we deregulated because it was the thing to do. How old are you? It seems like am talking to a kid, who has nothing to offer other than incoherent rants, bla bla bla If you know how world and nation economy works you would not be writing this crap. Is IMf responsible for you , not producing TV, Phones, computers petroleum product's, Is IMF responsible for the death of our refineries steel plants , automobile factories, textiles ,?e.t.c. |

seborrhic: Evolving to darkness. The dimwit removed fuel subsidy without thought then devalued the Naira, based on his short sighted idea of those being the magic wand to set nigeria to an Eldorado. But due to his devaluation of the Naira that has now gone into free fall as everyone that has some sense and is a good student of history knows, now they are back to paying subsidy through the backyard,so as to hide their dumbness and shame. If you doubt subsidy is still being paid:in October last year landing cost of petrol with exchange rate of about ₦800/$ was ₦720.Then fuel was still sold at 650-670. In 2024,dollar has been at least ₦1300,but petrol is still being sold @₦650.What magic formula are they using to keep fuel at ₦650 when naira has depreciated by about 60% since the known landing cost of 720 last year? The formula is subsidy but they feel ashamed to admit so because babablu has now boxed himself to a dead end:truly remove the subsidy caused by further Naira free fall and see fuel sell for 1200-1300 or keep it and continue paying while lying that you are on tract on your pronouncements. Well said, most of their clown, supporters cannot reason the math you did here , They have very low IQ ppl. |

Johnjustice: All their advice is from a point of self interest. They only care about government getting more revenue, so government can pay back their loans and interests. Caring less about loss of disposable income, which leads to inability of the people to demand for goods and services, less investment and employment etc...If you use all your money to buy fuel, pay VAT, what will you have to save, and invest as citizens. IMF is always clamouring for government to demand more taxes and increase fuel price. It's obvious ,you don't know what you are talking about. Was it not the IMF that advised The Nigerian government to de -regulate the telecom sector and allow more private investments in all sectors of our economy? And today the telecom sector is creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs while paying billions in taxes and revenue to governments. Same thing occurred in our insurance and pension sectors The IMF also advised our government against operating and running those refineries, which is obvious to any honest person that governments have no business operating such businesses. In the Western world , companies and individuals pay heavy taxes, the sad issue in our case is that, increased revenue through taxation or oil or whatever means does not translate to better governance or standard of living for us, the IMF is not responsible for the corruption of our leaders. I support subsidy removal and increase taxation of the upper class, if only the revenue would be properly used. |

donborg: Whites were also disobedient. If you say blacks are lazy I will agree, but man whether Black or White, is inherently selfish and will not hesitate to break the law if it will advance his interests.
The only way to break that disobedience is to create a system of government that will check mate the excesses of political leaders. Look at what happened to Liz Truss. She tried to do what Tinubu did last year and was immediately booted out of office. If Britain were a constitutional republic, the British will probably be experiencing what we're getting now and they will be as helpless as us to stop it till 4 years time. But look at how she was booted out of power.
If we're running a parliamentary system of government, Tinubu will be old news by now You too like grammar. Tinubu has committed even far worst offence but blind eye was turned to the law, same thing would happen be it parliamentary or whatever you call it. You can force, a horse to the stream but you can force it to drink water. Give me examples of black ruled countries that practice parliamentary system of government that are first world countries. |

The best thing is to raise the safety standards and stop those flights in the night during bad weather. That will save lives that no amount of money can buy or bring back to life when it has been wasted by the reckless US system where aviation regulations is almost as lax as gun control. Here in Nigeria, once weather is bad and it's night time, in order to save lives, very very rarely will flights be cleared. Perhaps only military flights will be cleared but most civilian flights within the country will not be cleared for safety reasons.

donborg: The Presidential system of government enabled the economic collapse of Nigeria through inept government policies and tribalism. Truth is that the Presidential system of government is virtually useless without a well armed citizens like in the USA.
European Parliamentary system of government remains the best system of government one need to look at the success of the European economy and society today. Compare it with Africa where the Presidential system is in vogue and you'll see the difference.
If we're in a parliamentary system of government, Tinubu will be out of power right now. There would have been a call for new elections immediately the prices of goods and services started to rise and a vote of no confidence will be passed on Tinubu forcing him to resign. Even the most corrupt Nigerian President Buhari would not have lasted a whole 8 years to use and steal and loot in a parliamentary system. He would have been disgraced out of office and sent to jail for stealing and looting.
Truth is there is little difference between the Presidential system of government and Military rule. The only difference is that power changes hands after 8 long years even if our citizens are suffering or smiling and a corrupt Legislature. We just have to flip the coin and enjoy whatever Leaders it gives us.
In a parliamentary system, it is not so because that government knows it could lose power at any moment in time through a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE All this ones na grammar. If you like give blackman Heaven and all its benefits, they would still run it down. Are there no parliamentary government in Africa that are still 3rd world countries? E.g Zimbabwe |

These IOC’s are evil! They pillage the environment without a care in the world. They have been drilling oil for decades and sending almost all of it to the European market, then turn around and also hoard the forex accrued from the Govt, then repatriate all of that Forex to their respective countries.
At least with local players, their is a chance of continuous investments on the upstream oil and gas industry, and Forex will be retained in-country. Which means more Local millionaires and billionaires created, more revenue for the Govt. More local jobs created.

TheBillyonaire: For years Niger Delta did not break pipelines yet they connived and killed Saro Wiwa? For demanding clean up and compensations.
Now you want Niger Deltans to live in poverty, without means of livelihoods, without access to clean water, because a foreign company pay criminals to break the pipelines and help their criminal executives pump oil into oil bunkering barges that delivers to ship in nautical miles, while also knowing that certain plants I care not to mention that grow in crude polluted soils are fuels for nuclear plants which they also mine will give them alternate source of income?
Are you oblivious of the fact that bunkering favors the international smugglers that are now being arrested. Are you not aware that it is international sabotage and most of the shipping is done by politically exposed persons.
Stop blaming Niger Delta with your surface level theories. Oil companies should just leave and their Equity positions should be handed over the local communities so we can mine our oil and use the money to clean our villages.
This is my home not yours. Mine oil, that you never knew it existed, till the foreign companies showed how? You think oil drilling and exploration is water borehole drilling? |

SoNature: I think it's high time we started taking responsibility for our actions in this part of the world. This blame game will take us nowhere.
I have lived in the (Niger) Delta, worked in oil and gas, and I can tell you a few things about that industry and people:
1. Nigerians, especially ND people, have made life miserable for those companies. You cry that those companies don't give the locals jobs, they ask your CLOs to give jobs to their people and they sell those jobs to the highest bidders.
2. Local people burst their pipelines to steal crude oil. They always say it's their oil. The flow becomes overwhelming, they abandon it and run away. Later, the oil spill destroys the environment, and everyone starts shouting that the oil company should spend billions of dollars to clean up the environment. Very funny.
3. These oil companies want to fix your road, equip your health facilities or schools, your kings tell them to settle them before they do those things. Out of frustration, they abandon it. Tomorrow, you turn around and say they did nothing for the people.
In conclusion, the day we begin to admit that Nigerians are evil people, that's the day we genuinely start making progress as a people. Whatever evil the white man brought upon us today was achieved through our own people, and you can't equate it to what we do to ourselves. Very true. |
