Feel free to check anywhere that I have been accused of being a President Tinubu person and accepted it.

You have already stated that I shouldn't mention propaganda effectively telling me that anything I suggest as an achievement is going to be treated as propaganda.

As I don't waste my time chasing lost causes unlike Obidients, I am not going to even bring anything up.

History has judged zotesidrnt Tinubu on his tenure in Lagos state just like Peter Obi in Anambra.
I asked you of his achievements in Lagos, and you could not mention one.

Even in this current administration, show us his achievements, is it in subsidy removal only to pay subsidy again through the back door or is it floating of the naria against the $?

Show me the foundation he has set.

No one asks for dollar to import diesel any more.

That ended two weeks ago.

No one buys aviation fuel with dollar any longer.

Marketers pay in Naira to Dangote Refinery in Lagos, not dollar to some refineries in Netherlands or USA or India.

PMS, kerosene and all other refined products will join in May.

Dangote Refinery is also exporting refined products and he earns dollar and the dollar he earns are kept in the bank, not his house.

So the banks are having enough dollar in their custody for other uses and users.

This is not a matter of 'I don't like Tinubu' or 'I don't like Batists'.

It is a matter of simple economic cogitation.

Naira won't slide downward again.

Rather, it will keep rising against foreign currencies including your abductee, the dollar.

When Tinubu was conceiving the Lekki Free Trade Zone where Dangote Refinery is now built and where a seaport is now built, he knew that the Nigerian economy will be the winner ultimately.

What did your Governor build when he was in office that is of immense benefit to the economy today?

EponObi:
Bunch of jokers. Nigeria really spoilt her people silly with subsidies; so much they are tuned out of reality.

It's only in Nigeria that people wants all the solid infrastructures and the goodies that comes with it without paying a dime. Even tax, most don't pay. Before the fuel subsidy was removed, most were moving about with the faux reality that they are rich and earning enough. The removal shattered that reality completely. And na them dey say rubbish the previous years about the government not doing anything for them.

Fuel and dollar subsidy was removed everyone started crying.

Without toll, how do people expect the project to come to reality? The funniest thing is that most people championing this narrative have traveled outside the country and seen how infrastructure work in "sane climes".

Another issue is illiteracy. Many don't even understand the project, its importance, and what it stands to offer us all regard savings on travelling expenses, economic boost, and repping the nation on the global stage.

The costal highway will reduce the travel time from Lagos to Ilaje, Ondo State to just 45 minutes (that's just for one out of the many lanes that will cut across the South West, South East, and South South). Anyone who thinks the #3k toll gate is too expensive should use the alternative routes. It's that simple. Moreover, the minister Umahi said the 3k is just the average, meaning small vehicles could pay like 1.5k and heavy duty trucks pay 5k. So wtf is the buzz all about?

Like I've said, the country pampered the people too much with subsidizations. Too much.

You all complain of a simple toll on the greatest infrastructural development this nation has ever seen but will pay through your noses by acquiring loans and selling generational properties just to get visa to the "saner climes". You will get there to become 4th class citizens and pay through your noses all the days of your lives to their governments in form of taxes, bills, etc - literally slaving away daily so you don't get thrown out of your houses.

People think a 700km costal highway is one of those roads within their housing estates. A super highway that will have a train lane in the middle for that matter. Una never ready.
Jargon.

In your mind now , you made sense?. cool

Remove the professor from your moniker. You sound too disoriented and illogical to be one.

The main crux of Atiku's argument if looked at without ethnic bias will ensure the project does not become another Kano-Kaduna or Kano-Maradi project. The points he raised are critical to the life of the project. But you can't see that because your head is buried deep in ethnic chauvinism.

Where were you guys when Buhari as wasting money and resources on all those things you mentioned? Let me guess. You were busy shouting sai Baba and calling anyone who raised any objection an enemy of state. Yet you're here to blame Atiku today for not speaking up.

Meanwhile ethnic champions like you always conveniently ignore the fact that Buhari admin completed Lagos-Ibadan rail and 2nd Niger bridge all in the South. It is his abandoned projects up north you use to justify your defence of a shady and shoddy contract that even the Minister of Works is finding difficult to defend.

Same zombie worship you gave to Buhari for 8 years is what you have started with Tinubu. When he is called out, instead of considering the question raised with a bit of commonsense, you bend to ethnic jingoism.

All the trash about OBJ and Yaradua etc become convenient for you when you want to hide under North/South divide to defend a scam. Is Obasanjo now a good president? Is Jonathan now a southerner who was hampered by the north? I am ashamed at how morally fickle you lots are!!

The point Atiku is making is that the road is contractually twisted. He is not complaining about the award of the contract but the shady nature of the award. Can you be intelligent enough to decipher between the two?

So why ask all those jejune questions?

Economics is the same everywhere, the principles work in China, Singapore, Chile, Ireland...all recent examples of prosperity sowed by conversion to liberal capitalist free market systems. It worked in Nigeria with SAP and the few sectors that were fully or partially privatized and deregulated. You know this, the evidence is there.

The primary reason it may seem not to work in Black Africa is the DEMOGRAPHIC DIVERSITY of most nations. Homogeneity or at least ethnic dominance is a key factor for prosperity. I'd think you would know that too. grin

Of course there is. It's different from government related corruption because

(1) The business will suffer the consequences, not the public.

(2) Customers most times have a say in patronizing the business.

(3) Competing businesses provide alternatives.

Ever heard of admission officers demanding sex as a bribe at private universities? It happens at federal and state universities, video abounds on the internet.

Private banks that give out corrupt or foolish loans will suffer the consequences and fail. Diamond Bank is a good example. A major shareholder installed his son as CEO. That's a form of corruption called nepotism.

Unfortunately he wasn't very good at the job. His family lost a lot of money when the bank collapsed.

If Diamond Bank was owned by government the losses would have been borne by the public. There would also have been a lot of controversy about the sale to Access Bank.

MTN in the early days of telecoms was corruptly overcharging customers based on per minute billing. People complained. Globalcomm then provided an alternative per second billing and the rest is history.

I've recounted the past. Now prediction. The new Renting Laws in Lagos state are a form of price regulation. Enforcing them will result in higher prices and corruption. We will all read and hear the stories in the coming years.

Corruption exists everywhere. The real quest is how to reduce it. The evidence is that such reduction can be accomplished by implementing widespread privatization of resources and commercial institutions and deregulation of prices.

These are simple, easily deduced facts. I don't understand why Nigerians are so in love with socialism despite available evidence that we all have lived through in the past 20 years or so. Well actually I do know why, but let's not get into that.

Thanks anyway, have a good day.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
Am a strong advocate for capitalism and private sector control of the economy, you can check my quotes.

What you fail to understand is that what works in Western climes does not work here in Africa.
Politics › Re: Tinubu’s Government Raises Electricity Tariff From N66 To N225 Per KPH by blueAgent(m): 7:41am On Apr 05, 2024
IbeOkehie:
There's no country in the world with zero corruption. Certain public functions can only be done by government to avoid self dealing and promote fairness. There should be severe restrictions on the expansion of government beyond those functions.

Also note that with privatization and deregulation, the vast majority of government agencies can be abolished. For example, there's no need for a Ministry of Sports or government controlled Nigeria Football Federation.

The advancement of technology can convert certain public functions into private activity. Example block chain currencies like bitcoin can replace the naira and thus the Central Bank.

Abolishing government subsidies, control of resources, ownership of commercial institutions and regulation of prices - and the agencies that administer them - will drastically reduce corruption and also cut down the cost of government.

Evidence abounds. Unilag vs Covenant University or NITEL/MTEL vs private telecoms companies. Cement Armada subsidy corruption vs privatized cement companies.

When privatization & deregulation is implemented, it will result is strong economic growth and increased government revenue. There will be enough for government officials to steal without heavy impact on the lives of citizens. This is the case in every developed country including USA, China, Singapore and Japan.

When such stealing does occur, it's up to the citizens to hold politicians accountable at the ballot box.

Thanks.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

Human greed and selfishness are common human failings that can only be acted on when there's OPPORTUNITY to do so.

The cause of corruption in Nigeria is

government ownership of economic resources & commercial companies,
government payment of subsidies and
government regulation of prices.

That's it. Once all that government involvement is abolished, there will be very little opportunity for anyone to act upon their natural tendency to be greedy, wicked and selfish. I've never heard of anyone consenting for sex as a condition to admission to Covenant or Igbinideon Universities, but it's rampant at Unilag.

Evidence in Nigeria - telecoms, cement and broadcasting companies. Very little complaints of corruption in those industries because government has very little involvement in their operations.

Simple stuff, but somehow very hard for Nigerians to comprehend.

Have a good day.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
You are half smart.

The bulk of corruption occurs in government ministries and parastals, the executive the legislature and the judiciary as well as the police.

Is corruption index based on amount stolen or frequency or level of corruption on the system?
