iamoyindamola: But why are the original Muslims from the north afraid of help from America If you are also victims, help is coming
This is the million dollar question they have failed to answer. Most of them know what they are, they are just disguising.
For example the Kwara church attacks now , let's say America wants to go after the terrorists ; why should a normal Muslim be bothered since he or she doesn't share any sympathetic feeling with the Killers.
Also, I'm sure people who have always boldly claim they support death penalty for blasphemy are suddenly jittery that sanctions may be imposed on them. That's why most of them are sleeping on Twitter day and night trying to change the narrative. Unfortunately for them, the terrorists keep handing them ropes to hang themselves with their increased attack in the past few weeks.
monerozi5590: Check my history you will see me blaming Buhari for saying that. He wanted to win election and he was saying nonsense to get the votes of extremists.
Same thing your Peter Obi is doing on the IPOB matter. Calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu that Kanu is not a terrorist and telling FG to use non kinetic approach on Biafran agitators.
In Ur post which I responded to, you claimed Northerners don't shield their brothers and hammered on South Easterners showing solidarity with Kanu.
So I had bring it to Ur notice that Buhari was one of the northern voices that criticized Jonathan's government when he tried to fight the boko haram menace at its infancy. Perhaps if Buhari had supported Jonathan government's military campaign against Boko Haram the north would not be in the mess it is today.
Don't you think so?
I also don't support IPOB neither do I support any call by Obi for IPOB and Kanu to be shown leniency. I am not one of those people who support everything the candidate I voted for does. Where I disagree with him(like this IPOB issue), I will state it clearly without mincing words.
monerozi5590: How is the North shielding their brothers?
Go to Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and even Nairaland. You will see many Kanu supporters from the East. Calling him their Savior.
We have seen pictures of Kanu in the East and people kneeling down in front of him. We saw a guy even kissing his feet.
We have seen South East Leaders calling for the release of Kanu.
We have seen South East Governor' Forum calling for the release of Kanu
We have seen South East Youth Leader calling for the release of Kanu
We have South East Elders calling for the release of Kanu.
We have seen a senator from the East standing surety for Kanu.
But Buhari was no better ; he opposed the clamp down on Boko Haram by Jonathan's government and was the one who first conceived idea of granting Boko Haram amnesty long before he won the 2015 elections. How is he better than those South East politicians calling for clemency to be shown towards Kanu?
Buhari likened the Boko Haram situation to the Niger Delta agitation and wanted the Boko Haram members to be treated like Niger Delta militants.
He likened the activities of full blown terrorists (whose agitation is focused on extremist religious ideology ) to that of Niger Delta militants who were protesting against environmental degradation and marginalization of the golden goose(Niger Delta region) that lays the golden egg (crude oil )we all feed on as a nation
Is it true that when one is convicted of terrosism charges anywhere in the world such person loses his British citizenship which he acquired by naturalization?
Is it true Nnamdi Kanu will lose his British citizenship?
raumdeuter: There is a difference between wanting Biafra and the way NK decided it was okay to kill fellow Ibos to achieve this. Imagine calling for 1000 heads to bury Ikonso. Head of what? even if its heads of goat and chicken sef it will be bad never mind head of human
Some people believe whatever killings were done by NK and his groups were okay and excusable, Many people were claiming its DSS doing the killing
I'm not sure if it was spy or DonJ who once made an argument about the bolded. I was shocked that we have people who actually believed it was nit IPOB/ESN that carried out the killings but DSS officers.
I asked back then that what will DSS gain from doing that and I didn't get any reasonable answer.
raumdeuter: Many people are scared to travel home. I saw a thread where people of Ihiala are just returning to their abandoned homes after like 5yrs. Same thing with people in Orsumogu in Imo
Whatever you are fighting for and killing your own people. Look at the quality of people he has led to their death. Is one Chike Akunyili not better than 1000 Nnamdi Kanu to the society?
Imagine ordering for 1000 heads like he's some form of deity
Exactly!
The bold is why I think most people should not be backing him.
Maybe because some of them and their relatives didn't fall victim of Unknown Gunmen and ESN activities, that's why it is easy for them to be agitating for him to be released without facing consequences of his actions.
Most of the people like spy are only emotional because he is Igbo, and some even consider him a messiah. Its a shame really
I normally don like to talk about this man. But I have so much hate in my heart towards him for all his utterances/orders which have sent so many innocent people to an early grave. I really wish Ekpa can be extradited and handed a painful sentence over here.
So many people do not even believe Kanu is guilty of the crimes he was accused and now sentenced for. They make strong, but blind arguement( which borders on emotions) for him. I always look away...both online and offline.
Ipob movement is supposed to be peaceful. But it turned bloody because the leader is hot a headed and arrogant man, who think he is at war with Nigeria...and if any of his own people disagrees, he should be put to death. Smh. How they got to the level being armed is what confuses me. And the moment they got the funds and arms, he became extrememly ruthless.
That man will be fiery dictator.
You have spoken well like a reasonable and responsible person 👏
MorataFC: You say you are fighting for your people, yet you give orders to harm anyone who does not agree with you. Because of your own ambition, you have slowed down the progress of an entire region. This is why many people refuse to invest in the affected states. Tell me, who will put their money in a place where everyone is forced to sit at home every Monday? Monday is ọjọ́ ajé which means the day wealth begins and business starts.
No investor wants to bring their business to a region where work stops every week, where shops stay closed, roads are empty, and families live in fear. How can companies grow? How can jobs be created? How will the economy survive when productivity keeps dropping? Even young people with talent are running to other states because they see no future where there is constant tension and wasted Mondays, but many don't want to admit this openly
The truth is, the real effect may not show fully today. But in 20 or 30 years, when the lost opportunities start adding up, when people look around and see how far behind the region has fallen compared to other states, then the pain of this “sit-at-home” culture will be clear. And by then, everyone will remember him, whether in a good way or a bad way, for the damage done to the future of his own people.
Most people are seeing the whole thing from the prism of " there are other terrorists who are worse than Kanu but have not been prosecuted by FG ", but they are not seeing the fact that prosecuting and convicting Kanu is actually justice nefing served for families of those who lost their lives due to his incitement.
I'm sure most of the people who had lost one family member or the other would not want him to walk free because he's allegedly fighting for Biafra course.
raumdeuter: If he is calm and let lawyers do their jobs they might argue for a case of insanity and point at his actions as someone not from a sound mind
But that is if he will not start insultng the SAN that came to support him
To be fair, the few times I came across some of his clips on FB back then ; what came to my mind was that he probably has bipolar disorder.
The kind of bile that comes out from his mouth cannot be coming out from the mouth of someone sane. I'm even surprised Sowore is out there calling for Kanu's release
yewit37486: He also seems to have an anger issue and I ask myself, what kind of leader would this man have made? Many of these activists would end up being far worse than the ones they criticize (as bad as those ones are).
The Judge mentioned it in passing that he nearly slapped one of his lawyers and ordered that one to shut up.
Any man with such personae with be the one to sign his own death with his anger. He honestly doesn't have the traits of a good leader. The people he claimed to be fighting for their liberation, he ordered for them to be killed and their businesses destroyed if they refuse to comply with his various stay-at-home orders.
He may have made some points about the unjust system we run in this country, but his anger disregard for even his own brothers' life makes him worse than the leaders he's been criticizing
Theflint1: Why was Nnamdi Kanu roped into the EndSARS protests?
Roped? He was on record to have made inciting commentary on the protests na.
The protests had nothing to do with him and the IPOB agenda, but the moment the protests became violent he was recorded to have made inciting remarks. The judge read some of those comments out and said some of the places he mentioned for destruction were actually destroyed.
I think he roped himself if u ask me. He talks too much and was not remorseful till the very end.
izzou: Kanu's case is a case of the side effects of pampering crime.
When he was in Kenya, his atrocities were still fresh. Even the people defending him now, were not defending him then. In prison, he started this Sit at Home, which has turned to something else.
The same way that BH was pampered with rehabilitation. Today, we have Bandits collecting ransoms.
Always learn to set examples early. No matter how brutal, set it.
There's obviously no justice on this matter. Tinubu will definitely release him, because the whole SE politicians will go and negotiate.
I spit on the whole case!
At least we can take solace in the fact that Tinubu didn't continue to hold him in detention while subjecting him to media trial like Buhari did for years. That was how Dasuki's case was dragged for years without making any reasonable headway.
I hope after this case they will fast track Emefiele's case as well. There's no need holding an accused for years if you have evidence he committed whatever crime you have charged him to court for.
GloriousGbola: They do not play by the rules even in lagos.
Very very dodgy people. But of course being enabled by ogas at the top
I always look at them with jaundice eyes since they constructed that Iba bridge and the bridge caved in even before the project was commissioned. They didn't channel the water under the bridge well and the water eat out the bed of the soil till it gave way.
That road was one road they did a lot of trial and error on it before getting it right. The rumor back then was that Tinubu brought them from China so even if Fashola wanted to cancel their contract for incompetency, he couldn't.
I guess they later gained ground in naija after that project.
Because while the right thing is make Kanu pay for his crimes, we have the ones up north being rehabilitated and enrolled into the Army.
Whatever verdict given today is right, but then there's still injustice
I think going forward we actually need to mount serious pressure on the government to have terrorists prosecuted and convicted.
In fact, if Southern Lawmakers are wise, they should raise a motion and sponsor a bill that will put a stop to so called rehabilitation and reintegration of terrorists into the society. The idea of granting amnesty or leniency to terrorists must be discontinued.
raumdeuter: Chinese have infiltrated through construction and agro manufacturing too, Many states in Nigeria have projects being run by CCECC. Some are here legally, but you know Chinese once they get the contract they import a lot of their country men. Some are here illegally running the illegal mines, And I put nothing past them. Cos with the manner of these rampart kidnapping, I would think the expatriates specially working on the field would be easier and more rewarding to get
Last week, I saw one Chinese man wearing Hausa dress and blowing fluent Hausa with a minister
I dont understand the full context of what he is saying maybe someone who understands better will interpret
I didn't even know CCECC has gained foothold like that in the north. I was thinking they only do projects for LASG and Ogun state government o.
The thing is those people don't necessarily play by the rules, they can do anything to get what they came for.
That's why I always laugh at people who would show middle finger to the west and embrace the Chinese. They don't know those guys don't even respect the law of their hosts
I like how the prosecution went for the jugular in this Nnamdi Kanu's trial.
You don't incite people to create anarchy and then expect a light sentence. I'm sure people like the Akunyilis will feel some level of relief that just has finally been served as regards their father's death when the Kanu is finally sentenced
raumdeuter: This sounds credible to me. Cos think about it if you want to kidnap, why wont you go for someone who is an expatriate and will have money than people who are poor, when you see the level of poverty of some of those kidnapped,, you will know except govt rescues them, there is no one going to pay 100K for him
Yet these Chinese an Lebanese are moving around you freely who can guarantee you dollars
Maybe the Chinese even supply them weapons and logistics too, Chase villagers out and we mine in peace
I know Lebanese and Indians operate industries like plastic making factories, Foam making factories, agro allied & food processing plants, etc. But the Chinese, I really don't know what they are doing in the north.
I won't doubt illegal mining as has been alleged by people who know that terrain well.
