You're right. The white and blue buses are everywhere on Lagos Island, and even in Phase 1.

Now I understand what you were explaining that day
You get now.

I engaged one driver after that day, he claimed LASG has directed all commercial buses plying Lekki/VI axis to paint their vehicles that BRT color (Blue, white, green, yellow and red) or risk their vehicles being impounded. He also claimed they've already began enforcement around that Osborne.

I'm sure buses driven by military personnel will not comply sha.

Nigerian lawmakers move to empower civil courts to try military officers instead of court-martial, pass bill for second reading, amongst other issues. The bill seeks to modernise Nigeria’s military legal framework by repealing the Armed Forces Act 2004 and introducing new provisions to align with constitutional and democratic standards.

I hope they know what they are doing Sha.

You're wrong. No body has the right to destroy any property without a court order.

Rule of law.

Forget the rascality going on.
You are right. In fact, the FCDA has been reprimanded by a federal high court judge in the past over the illegality of most of the demolitions without following constitutional rules and due process.

Wike is just a rascal who doesn't know when to stop.

A high court in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has declared recent demolitions of homes illegal. In a historic decision, the court ordered the government agency responsible—Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA)—to pay a total of ₦200 million to people whose homes were wrongly destroyed.

The case dates back to 2023, when the FCDA began tearing down buildings accused of being on government-owned land. Many affected residents had valid title documents or were in the process of securing them. The court ruled that the demolitions violated the homeowners' rights to fair notice and a hearing. Therefore, the court declared the actions invalid, stating they breached legal procedures and fundamental rights—especially the right to property.

The judge explained that demolishing someone’s home without giving prior notice or a chance to respond is unconstitutional. In response, the court awarded ₦10 million to each of the 20 identified claimants. Furthermore, the court instructed the government to halt all ongoing demolitions of private homes until proper notice is given and legal processes are followed.

Importantly, the judgment emphasized that the FCDA must respect due process going forward. The court stressed that anyone facing eviction has the right to be informed, heard, and to defend their ownership or rights before any demolition occurs.

This ruling is seen as a major victory for property rights in Nigeria. It shows that government agencies cannot remove people from land without following constitutional rules, such as providing notice, holding hearings, and offering compensation when required. It’s hoped this will protect homeowners in the FCT and elsewhere from arbitrary actions in the future.

This isnt a new development as far as i'm aware. Nigeria like most countries (asides the US) taxes based on residency.

The problem however in Nigeria's case is that it's hardly ever applied in the right way. Even when they identify individual that should have been captured in the tax net, those officials just solicit for bribes and keep it moving.

That's very likely what's going to happen here. They identify them and some pockets in the tax office gets the cut
Prior to period, I don't really think they track income of Nigerians from online gigs and enforce the law like they are planning to do going forward. Maybe they track the income of high-net-worth Nigerians who take huge profit from their investments abroad and shake them down for bribe like you posited, but I doubt they do that for the regular tech guys and other Nigerians who earn through online gigs.

Well, let's wait and see how the implementation and enforcement will go under this new tax regime.

You're on point. I watched the video. He say former Head of State (Obasanjo) called him on phone when he had land issues in Abuja, he say former chief of army staff (T.Y Danjuma) also reached him on phone to help settle things. So basically, he was expecting the Vice Admiral to look for him. Person wey dey preach due process, saying he's against lawlessness.
You get!

Anybody who watched the video of Wike's disgraceful encounter with the officer and watched his presser but still thinks Wike cares about due process and things being done in a civil manner, such a person is not as wise as he or she thinks.

Wike wan dey do speech renovation after he don gba 4 public. If no be because of his pride and ego, he should simply apologize. No need for more shalaye.
Tagging the order as "illegal order" is funny. Because he cannot be executive, legislature & judiciary at the same time. Na court go decide if the order is illegal, also decide if the house documents and approval certificates are legal not Mr Agreement is Agreement undecided
Wike doesn't necessarily care about the Vice Admiral's documents & approval certificates being legal, he just wants to be in a possession in which he is seen as "Mr. Fix-it" who has everyone in his debt.

If you listen to that his presser, you will hear him still repeating the same thing he told the officer. He was expecting the Vice Admiral to either call him on phone or come see him on bended knees pleading the moment FCDA officials started disturbing the engineers on site.

He just wants to have that feeling of being the powerful guy who sends his boys out to shake down property developers and they come running to him for "settlement"

Unfortunately for him, he don jam who pass am.

To be honest, that road is a very busy road.

I doubt if there would be a perfect time to do it. Anytime wey dem announce am must scatter plans.

With LASG doing the road, it means that the Toll gate would be coming back again
They will definitely try to bring the toll gates back; whether they will get push back from the road users or not is what I don't know sha.

Something tells me they deliberately let the road go bad for a long time so they can use the late repairs to justify need for toll collection on the road for future maintenance.

But the Lagos state announcement came late Sha because some show promoters go don already book down venues for their event along that axis.

Now they may find it difficult getting people to attend with the impromptu announcement about road repairs and potential gridlock that will happen on that axis.

[quote author=TrebleChamp post=137467946]It is either this drunkard see himself as the President of Nigeria or believes he is too powerful to be sacked from this Govt. A video we all saw and he is here talking rubbish, that Naval Officer really messed him up. Tinubu should take the advice of leadership of GAC and sack him asap cos he is truly giving the Govt a bad image...

has his own audience, he's saying all that to his audience who would lap to whatever comes out of his mouth rather than what happened in the video we all watched.

For people like elder that thinks earning online via remote work insulate them from effect of the new tax regime , Taiwo Oyedele has this to say to you :

https://www.nairaland.com/8560838/tax-nigeria-partners-over-100

“For the other categories of people who work online, the kind of people you spoke about, where companies just outsource something to them…you might have five stars, another person has 50.

“The requirement under this new law is that everybody, whether you earn your money from Google or whether you earn it from XYZ Limited in the Bahamas, you have to declare your income yourself. If you fail to do it, the system will then gather intelligence, which is when the money hits your bank account.”

“We see this money coming to your Dollar Bank account. If you put the money abroad, Nigeria has signed an agreement with over 100 countries under what is called the Common Reporting Standards. They are already sending us data about Nigerians who have money abroad, property abroad, whether it’s Dubai to the US to Canada to the UK. We have all that information already.”

“Essentially, my point is, if it’s about data, the government can get the data. The primary obligation is to do the right thing yourself. If you fail to do it, the government will then come back to you and say, ‘We know this about you, you haven’t been honest, here’s your presumptive assessment. ’ And at that point, you have to deal with it”

The problem is Okoye doesn't want to play AFCONs as he will lose his No1 spot at club level so he doesn't honour invitations until World Cup is around the corner

It's tough being an African keeper in a European club, you can easily lose your spot and career go downhill because of AFCON

So it's better to go with Nwabali who is dependable game in, game out. Nwabali is a good keeper, we just need to warn him seriously about his thuggish attitude and waiting last minute to pass ball
If that's the case We should carry him to any of those pastors wey dey do deliverance, make dem help us rebuke Onana spirit inside Nwaballi
