the funny thing is it may not actually be dangote that owns the truck or employs the driver

truck/trailer and tanker drivers are a complete menace. undisciplined , uncouth and irresponsible

Most companies outsource their logistics now such that the drivers are contract staff and not directly employed by the comapny.

Still on still, when issues like this come up it is still the principal company that will be dragged (like Dangote in this case).

The good thing about the outsourcing thingy is that the principal company will insist the contractor takes insurance on the driver while the principal takes insurance on the goods and the vehicle. In the event of accident like this one, the respective insurers will compensate the victims.

I think the problem with all those truck drivers is that most people who drive trucks in Nigeria are undisciplined and reckless. The way some of them will be threatening other road users especially car owners will make you shudder.
