PDPGuy: I’m happy that Air Peace are one of the big beneficiaries of Tinubu’s Brazil trip.
Fresh off announcing their Abuja - London Heathrow and Gatwick flights, they’ll also launch Lagos - Sao Paulo flights!
Moreover, they’ve also become the first Nigerian private airline to simultaneously own the most wide body jets (four B777) Congrats to them(Airpeace), let them Sha work on how they cancel and reschedule their local flights anyhow. Last week that I traveled, at the airport I still met people who were lamenting about how they've regretted flying with them on several occasions because of how often they reschedule flights and disrupt your travel plans at will. The whole thing gives them a negative image locally amongst frequent travelers. |

raumdeuter: At restaurant in Naija back then. Some don't put meat on your soup, they serve the meats in a separate plate and count it, So they might send you a plate with 15 pieces of meat and they will charge you for what you eat.
Some "big men" consider it disrespectful to count meat give them instead of just packing it for them and they will pick what they want There's still one bros on my WhatsApp contact, anytime he goes to parties and he posts videos of the "fàájì" he enjoyed there on his status ; he's always showing plate of meat of various sizes his hosts served him. The way he normally post the videos frequently, u can tell he's one of those people who believe packing meat in plate to eat is a big flex. |

afrodoc: On a more serious note I hope when he said “ I am big”, he meant tall and not fat. He also said he eats a lot. Moderation is important when it comes to food.
Many Nigerians engorge themselves on food, just because they have money, and think they are enjoying life.
The people whose plate of stew/soup usually looks like a traffic jam of different kinds of meat. It might look or feel like enjoyment but it is really not. I think he was just exaggerating with his initial post and then decided to double down by following it up with "I am big" as if that will change how ridiculous his initial claim sounds. As regards your last paragraph, I once met one man like that inside one pounded yam buka at computer village-Ikeja. The man bought two wraps of pounded yam, 4 ogufe(goat meat), one smoked round fish and several pieces of cow meat. Like they had to put the whole protein inside one separate plate for him different from the plate that had his soup. As you can guess, the man is on the plumpy side with his neck almost invisible. I just dey wonder the kind fat and cholesterol wey go don pile up for inside his body. |

What you're talking about is impossible. I mostly eat indoors, but even at that, a pot of soup of #15k doesn't last more than a day, and soups are even the cheapest meals to make. Then when I eat out, it's even more than that a day, so as you can see, it's not possible. Well, different realities.

izzou: India just banned Betting, whether the owners or the promoters have any religious opinion or not.
Maybe Okocha thinks it's wise to promote Gambling because he will make more money
Maybe Mikel thinks it is wise not to promote Gambling, because it will destroy more lives. The point is about rationality and not about morality. Some people may choose to place morality over rationality while others will prioratize being rational and making good judgement by not turning down an opportunity to increase their stream of income. That's the context in which being wise and unwise is used in this matter. As regards the India's ban on online gambling, it can be argued that Indians are more religious and even conservative than some Africans sef. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:51pm On Aug 25, 2025 |
izzou: There are hundreds of players in Nigeria that are not begging, and are not promoting anything. It doesn't make them unwise.
JayJay wants to promote it, and it's fine. There's nothing wise or unwise there.
A player can still retire and disappear from the public till death. Nothing unwise there too. One of the definitions/meaning of the word wise is for one to have or show good judgement. I believe taking up a proposal like influencing for betting companies or alcoholic beverages (when you don't have any personal or religious opinion against) is a wise thing to do. It means u showed a good sense of judgement when faced with opportunity to increase your source of income. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:37pm On Aug 25, 2025 |
izzou: For gambling, there are many that won't.
Khaby Lame has one of the highest followers on TikTok, yet he turned down advertising for an alcohol brand. He said he did that because majority of his audience are teenagers, and he didn't want that to ruin them.
Even Mane refused to participate in holding a beer when he was in Bayern. He only sat for the picture, and didn't hold the glass.
Okocha is not broke, but doesn't mean someone is unwise because he doesn't promote Gambling. If u follow this discussion from beginning u will see where I mentioned except one's religious/personal beliefs prohibits gambling & Alcohol. Those people u mentioned up there fall in this category because of their religious beliefs. Someone like Okocha has no such obligations so it will be wise if he turns down such business proposal. |

How many of us will pay their bills when they are broke Only an unwise person will have a brand like Okocha's and will say no to endorsements/adverts for brands who need his influence to push their business for a fee. I still an advert Thierry Henry on DSTV this last weekend. That is a world cup winner who has dabbled into punditry, coaching and several brand ambassadorships. |

yewit37486: If he was so frugal, I wonder why he's had to resort to advertising for betting companies. He made his money from hard work and making use of his talents, but is promoting a destructive act like betting to the youths just for the monetary gains. Being frugal has nothing to do with making more money by taking advert/influencing sales for brands that approach him for endorsement na. If his religious /personal beliefs doesn't prohibit gambling, I don't see any reason why he can't use his brand to advertise for bookies. We have footballers who advertise for Alcoholic brands and cigarettes which can be argued to be as destructive as gambling. If nobody is having issues with those footballers promoting alcohol and cigarette then why should they have issues with gambling? |

Theflint1: Exactly, if dem decide investigate the spending habits of a lot of us average earners, you'd see it's not so different from these footballers, in that as our earnings grew, so too did our expenses.
Confirm stingy guys like Okocha and Kante are the exception and not the norm, and I mean within the general population, not just footballers. You are missing an important point here though; the earning cycle of the regular average individual is quite different from that of athletes. A regular average professional in other fields apart from sports can have regular income from the moment they hit adulthood to let's say age 60 when they decide to retire. An average footballer on the other hand may have to retire by age 38 which means he has roughly 22 years (from age 16) to make all the money he will spend till old age. If a retired footballer keeps up with the lifestyle he was living in his playing days after he has retired, he may end up broke while the non-sports retiree may still have enough income to sustain his own lifestyle before death comes calling. |

Fenibeso's grace was the difference between 1-1 and 4-1. If not that Fulham have terrible headers in their team, una for really collect true true o. I saw like 2 different instances when the post was at their mercy during corner kicks and they nodded it away from goal. You sure say una no go later convert Onana to that midfielder y'all have been missing in your team ? A team like Arsenal or even West Ham would've converted those free headers. |

but you have to have mind and be stubborn - more so among nigerians I doubt Boniface and his friend Osimehn can emulate the frugality credited to Okocha in his playing days and even now that he's retired. Boniface and his friend seem to be about the social media life , gifting their "fans" at random, paying influencers and sponsoring trips of their influencer friends to stay relevant in the social media space, etc. Whether the aggregate of these social spendings will have a significant impact on their purse in the long run; only time will tell. |

chrisooblog: I remember that bad teeth issue from Clarence Seedorf experience with injuries. Don't remember the main gist of it but something around how dental problems affected his ability to heal properly from his injuries.
Infact dental checks have become part and parcel of player's medicals. Reading this now, I think I have an idea as to why dental check/test was added to our PME. Where I work we do an annual medical checkup/test where series of tests, medical checks and scans are carried out on all staff. Earlier this month when we had this year's, I noticed dental check was added to the dozens of tests/checks carried out. I saw a dentist at the hospital in the process and I was wondering what's the essence of including a dental check in a wellness checkup. Now I know better. |
