Why do people always feel u can dictate to a private business owner whom and from where they recruit? 🤷‍♂️

Private business owners should be free to recruit talents from any part of the company . I mean for example if an airline operator wants to recruit a pilot now; will they say they must employ indigene of that state even when they don’t even have more than one or two pilots in the whole state ? Even if they have more than 2 pilots in that state , what if there are candidates who are more qualified but not indigene of the state ?

Talking about tax , the private company is not the one that says taxes should be remitted to Lagos, it is our existing tac laws that make it so.

If I’m a line manager and an ET decides to be openly critical of the senior management , how does it concern me? How is it my responsibility to tell him to tone it down or take it down completely ? In fact , calling the ET and being unfortunate for me to have my voice recorded may be a ground for the guy to sue the management for harassment . And this will definitely embarrass the management more .

I don’t know the kind of organizations u people have in mind o, but in a normal organization that I know everyone is responsible for his or her actions and inactions .

I read a lot of people talking trash about NYSC being a paramilitary organization and all that hogwash , but even proper military institutions have ways of doing things . A military institution will not even have a commander call subordinate on phone and start threatening him instead of inviting him for questioning through proper channels .

The ZI’s overzealousness and unprofessionalism brought the whole heat on herself . I trust dem Sowore and other career activists will milk the situation wella till it runs dry. When matter cast , the same government fit sacrifice the ZI and her overzealous self .

Omo! The fact that I could relate to this tweet from personal experience 😢

I nearly lost a once in a life time chance that has helped thus far due to unstable electricity wahala .

I don knack suit and tie , 100% mentally ready for the Teams interview before NEPA commot light 10 minutes to scheduled time . 🥵

Before u judge me as being unserious for trying to do an interview with generator , u should know that we Dey get light steady and the timing of our light is well known to everybody . I was damn sure the light would not even go off in the next 3 hours sef .

Back to my story , I had to off suit , readjust tie and rushed downstairs to drag generator . As generator start , I reach upstairs collect small fan generator just off without warning . It was then I know say wahala Dey . As I went back downstairs trying to find out what exactly was wrong with the gen, weyrey NEPA restored the light .

By the time I was settled I had lost like 15 minutes from the scheduled time . I was already disorganized and wanted to give up already . I just used the last optimism in me to join the meeting and was kept in limbo waiting in the lobby .

At some point sef I gave up but I sha texted the HR guy who sent the meeting link that I was waiting in the lobby o and then he replied that they are aware and once they are done with the current candidate they will bring me up . I was just lucky he’s a cool naija guy who somehow didn’t make an issue out of me joining late.

That day Nigeria nearly happened to me but I survived o

I'm not actually bothered about Fubara as a person, I'm rather concerned about the political implication of his ouster. Shebi we no even know the guy until Wike anointed him and installed him.

The point is that a broke graduate like me was able to raise some money from the minimum wage to start life, without that NYSC maybe I will be asking my parents for the money to go submit CV, browse at cyber cafe

While there are NYSC members who are using 25k for Uber, and 20K for data, there are some broke people like me over 20yrs ago who are saving up the little to start life

Not everyone in Nigeria is living the life and many are taking the little minimum wage to start life

The bulk of Nigerians public plus private do not even earn up to 70K, so its a start up funds for many

If u don't make close to 70k in Nigeria today either through legit hustle, begging, borrowing or stealing u definitely can't survive in present day Nigeria.

It was always obvious the guy is part of the "controlled opposition" in the last election na. He never really left APC na, he was just a contingency plan to divide votes in case APC wants to lose bulk votes in some certain parts of the state.

There is an opportunity cost and the NYSC is part of it too. The Govt is paying lecturers and the University on our behalf for those 4-5yrs of study. The difference between what you paid for your public school and a private school even with 1yr of minimum wage job cannot cover it

For me, I was able to earn minimum wage, I got some extra side income by teaching students and helping with UNICEF gigs, the money I made from the NYSC I used to buy GRE textbooks, kick start job search like buying browsing time, transport fares to VI for resume submissions, aptitude tests and interviews instead of going to meet my parents for that money again

We are talking about 2025 u are talking about over 20 years ago when Cyber cafe browsing was a thing .

U are so detached from reality of things in Nigeria in the present day but u will never agree.

Whatever hustle u think u did back then, the youth of today are doing more by selling goods services and their skills online yet they are groaning under the weight of serious financial pressure. You see them almost everywhere on whatsapp status , tiktok and instagram selling one thing or the other just to augment their income. The so called minimum wage of 70k would not even scratch the surface on their basic needs (not wants sef)

I got a degree because govt paid a bulk of my fees and if 1yr of minimum wage is how I get to pay it back, then i think that's a fair deal

You are the one saying because public university is "cheaper" than private school, then public university graduates must subject themselves all sort of nonsense we go through during NYSC as "Thank You" to government.

All I did was show u that there is an opportunity cost to that so called "cheap" public university education. Saying they must go through NYSC hassle as payback despite the opportunity cost already highlighted above is an overkill.

Person wey write JAMB after I don already Dey 100 level first me graduate simply because I was in a public school and he gained admission into a university .

The conducive learning environment , well motivated lecturers , state of the art learning aids and even exposure to professional exams at the earliest stage in a university system are part of the package the private university system sells for good value for money . Some of them even conduct job fairs for their final year students which is facilitated by their alumni doing well in their respective industries/sector .

If the government owned university is not selling this package , why should anybody be guilt tripped for not paying “high fees “ for a degree program ? 🤷‍♂️
