afrodoc2:WORD! If anything, FFK should be regarded as one of the best foreign trained lawyers we ever had in this country going by his privileged background. unfortunately he wasted everything and became a source of amusement to even the kids of the people he regarded as peasants while he was growing up. I agree with u that he wasted all the positives that comes from his privileged background. |
Theflint1:Oh wow! FFK normally na fresh kid right from time. His Grandpa finished high school in 1917 in the UK and then give birth to FFK father in 1921 in the same UK... No wonder FFK could bag all the b*tches from a young age in naija. He dey always cap about Bianca Ojukwu because na only him know the kind rep he get that time among top tier naija high society ladies ; he was royalty in his days. The only blemish wey FFK get as he dey grow old is that he was unable to transition to become a functional and reasonable adult in an African society. He was still stuck in that age of when he was an elite and the rest of the people he engaged on a daily basis were peasants. |
Theflint1:Maybe his uncle. Fani Kayode's father was born in 1921 in England as well. So most likely the person in question is Fani Kayode's father elder bro |
Theflint1:FFK's father is Remi Fani-Kayode. The person on the list might either be FFK's brother or cousin |
popizaino:Na Yoruba dominate UK right from time. If u notice most of the players of Nigerian descent whose parents birthed in the UK, Na Yoruba plenty pass. There are families who are in their 3rd, 4th generation already in the UK |
izzou:It is thoughts like this that gives politicians & their apologists the impetus to expect citizens to worship them if they try to do one or two project or pay civil servants' salaries on time. |
izzou:Misplaced priority. Sometime in the future, one Niger state lawmaker will sponsor bill for dem to immortalize IBB |
semid4lyfe:I saw the thread on Twitter yesterday, I decided against posting it here so I won't be seen as harbinger of bad news. Away from Obidients vs Batists banter, things are really tough in this country at the moment. All those nonsense audio achievements the current government's loyalists are posting online have no single effect on the quality of life of the common man on the street. People are seriously losing it. I get amused when I see them posting about inflation going down online yet the prices of goods and services keeps going up in the market. There's hardly no week I don't have reason to buy one or two things in the local mini stores and the prices of items don't just stay stable rather keeps increasing. It's difficult to encourage people not to lose hope when they can hardly feed themselves at least once a day without resorting to begging or borrowing. Even if u are comfortable as an individual, u will get frustrated with the number of people making demands on u to help them with "at all at all" to feed themselves almost on a weekly basis. I think people (like this deceased) are just giving up silently and further putting their families into anguish by committing suicide. |
How can a corporate organization's official Twitter handle make this kind of tweet? 🤷♂️

izzou:If I catch that boy ehn, I go beat sense into him ![]() |
sod09:Good . 👍 At least, they listened for once . Kudos to the corper lady for speaking up. I have no words for that fooolish boy that was posing with the Blue Rail line coach looking for gig from Lagos state government when his fellow corper spoke about their 33k being too paltry for them to survive . |
The UK government has released a list of Nigerians who died in the UK abut their families have not come forward to claim their properties/estate U for check for ur relative name there , u fit hammer if ur long lost relative don leave generational wealth for u for UK o https://newtelegraphng.com/icymi-uk-govt-releases-names-of-dead-nigerians-with-unclaimed-estates/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=icymi-uk-govt-releases-names-of-dead-nigerians-with-unclaimed-estates |
izzou:1. The Vatican has money more than any Pentecostal church in naija and the kidnappers most likely have a believe that the Vatican would not leave any priest to die in kidnappers den without dropping ransom . 2. Catholic Priests don’t go around with armed security guards unlike Pentecostal pastors which makes them easy target for any small band of kidnappers with few Awka-made pistols here and there . I won’t be surprised if some of the kidnappers are not ex-Catholics /those who grew in the catholic faith before they became what they are became . |
sod09:If na that one, then they will end up having big Yahoo boys and other people of questionable character who will be more than professionals/legit guys relocating to the axis niyen. That’s why u see EFCC going to raid all of those big estates on the island , bursting into people’s home in the night and embarrassing them thinking they are Yahoo boys |
raumdeuter:Exactly . There is so much foreign remittances going into that axis and that affects the price . All the nurses , doctors and other professionals wey japa in recent years and are making a kill off their skills abroad are funneling back home those dollars and pounds to buy properties in that axis . Naturally those resident in Nigeria trying to buy same property will be outbidded by the dollar/pounds wielding abroadians like yourself . One bros wey I go greet wey come home from Scotland in January told us that he’s in his 3rd year abroad and he’s managed to buy 3 properties within that period ; two in Ogun state and one around Alagbado part of Lagos state . And he’s just a regular guy hustling normal jobs in Scotland , living on a budget over there while he has his wife and kids here in naija in their family house . |
Theflint1:Below was what Akin Alabi said when the Topic trended about a month ago. I think if anything can/will ever be done by government about the price of real estate in Nigeria, then it is definitely to look into price of land in those highbrow areas. If the price of land is ridiculous, then u should expect the price of properties erected on it to follow suit. For example, they've been selling lands for ridiculous sums in banana Island for years and everyone just acted like it is normal. I guess that is what encouraged most land owning families in places as far as Ibeju and Epe to sell at ridiculous prices as well

afrodoc2:The guy body na rubber, no single bone ![]() |
Theflint1:Obaseki no get street cred and he successfully shut out 14 out of 24 elected Lawmakers from performing their law making duties for years ? Shey una dey hear this guy ? ![]() |
Theflint1:Which one be entrenched stooge and more entrenched stooge ? Asue would've been a stooge just as Okpheobolo and Sanwoolu are stooges jare. In fact, if we go by the kind levels wey Obaseki pull as a sitting governor where he dealt with House of Assembly members(which Fubara failed at), Obaseki would've been a very high handed godfather that can only be rivalled by Tinubu of Lagos. |
Theflint1: ![]() Make I just talk this thing once and for all, Na once man dey die! All these back and forth ehn, it could've been saved if u had just said this during the Edo governorship election " ....that you were wrong in 2023 when u said anything PDAPC was bad and that only a Labour Party candidate in different state and House of Assembly elections can save the country " If u had said the above, most people would've allowed u support Asue in peace; at most they will call u hypocrite for changing ur stand within one year, but then that's where it ends. Have u ever wondered that the same way u feel about Asue being the man for the job in Edo despite supporting Obi for president is the same way people who supported Obi for president and Sanwoolu's re-election also felt ? |
sod09:That likeness is what they call BIAS. He didn't have any likeness for any of the previous heads of state/president so it was easy for him to criticize their government without caring whose ox is gored. However, because of his "likeness" for Tinubu is most likely due to whatever favours Emilokan has done him in the past, he just can't help but let his bias shine through. It is just that simple. Almost everybody get person wey dem no fit open eye for. I guess Soyinka's own is Balablu. Recently I saw Reno's tweet saying he will always bow for Jonathan's argument anytime their two differ on an issue because he will always remain his boss. Despite the fact that he's doing a paid hack job for Tinubu on social media and was attacking anybody who criticized the State of emergency declared in Rivers State, he found a way not to insult Jonathan for his comments on the state of emergency |
izzou:This is how I see people's expectation of Soyinka's critical assessment of Tinubu's administration: 1. Most people think he's a hypocrite for keeping quiet under this administration, despite being a vocal critic of past governments when things were not this bad in this country ...... If u ask me, I don't think those people are wrong calling him hypocrite because we can all see its just his bias that has made him keep refrain from that critical assessment he's done for various governments in the past. Anyways, he's human afterall and entitled to his bias like the rest of us. 2. I think most people are angry that Wole Soyinka is quite old now and we might not get to see what he will be like when a new government takes over after Tinubu's administration ends (either in 2 years' time or 6 years' time whatever the case may be ). I mean he is 90 now, nobody will care much about the opinion of a 92 or 96 year man when a new government takes over; so people actually want to hear his unbiased opinion now that he is still lucid enough to grant interviews and make appearances on TV/Radio programs. 3. Wole Soyinka's disposition confirms the line of thought that "If you live long enough, you will see heroes turn villains)". I guess the baba just decided he doesn't want to be that guy who was neutral and gave opinion devoid of bias. He finally decided to pick a side during Tinubu's administration and that irks a whole lot of young people that have read about how he used to be an activist seem to have abandoned his calling when they needed him most. |
Beorn:I just did |
izzou:I happen to see the price of a bullet proof Toyota Coaster used for carrying expatriates earlier in the year , the current market value is about N412m. I'm sure the amoured Land cruisers sef no go far from N300m |
Emaprince:This one na "Sir Kazeem" ![]() |
Beorn:I am interested o. Na 19k I sub this current DSTV compact I dey use. |
iamoyindamola: ![]() Na so dem talk during Buhari for 8 years o. After Buhari commot, the same people dey tell us say Buhari don ruin the economy. |
Theflint1:I honestly don't know if u can since it is not a normal commercial bank account. The company in charge of the fund is Stanbic IBTC Asset Managment Ltd , a member of the Stanbic Holdings group. (It is a different entity from Stanbic IBTC Bank). |
afrodoc2:I think the problem we have is administration/management and not lack of talent. Unless we get it right with the management of NFF and by extension management of the national team, we will always suffer this fate of not qualifying despite having superior talents in our teams almost every generation. |
izzou:100% true. People no dey gree sell their Naija used cars again because for u to get a replacement , u break the bank. So anytime someone puts his naija used car for sale no matter how old it is, u will see people rushing and calling for inspection ASAP. Most vehicles bought as Tokunbo in the last 5 years , their naija used as of today is more expensive than the Tokunbo back then. |
I know we have some finance gurus here who have different ways of investing their funds/hedging their funds against inflation and other uncertainties, but for the sake of those who don't I feel I should share this info on how best to increase ur savings while not being unduly exposed to risk of losing ur funds. Stanbic IBTC asset management Limited has a product they sell which is called Stanbic IBTC Money Market Fund which is a very low risk investment vehicle with interest rate that fluctuates between 21% and 22% in recent times. What this means is that if u put let's say N5m and the prevailing interest rate is 21% all through the year, u will get at least N1.05m as interest at the end of the year( U will definitely get more than this because the interest is compounded for as long as u don't withdraw the funds). So, instead of keeping N5m in your bank's savings account and ur bank will be deducting Account maintenance fee, sms charges and other associated bank charges on a monthly basis; u can keep the N5m in Stanbic IBTC Money Market Funds, and it will grow on a daily basis. The good thing is you can always check and monitor how your money grows on a daily basis when u log-in to your online funds account. This is not a PR for Stanbic IBTC, but it needs to be said that Stanbic IBTC is the biggest manager of mutual funds in Nigeria as at 2023-2024 and that should tell u how secure your fund is due to the low risk associated with the fund. (https://nairametrics.com/2023/07/22/top-10-mutual-fund-asset-managers-in-nigeria/) One good feature of this fund is that unlike Treasury bills, u can withdraw ur funds anytime u require the money for an urgent need. So, if for example u are saving some millions towards a project which u intend to execute in the future like Japa money, money to buy a land/building, etc, u can always leave it in the Stanbic IBTC money market fund account for it to be multiplying instead of leaving it in ur commercial bank savings' account where Naija banks will trade with ur money and still deduct useless bank charges from it. The minimum u can invest is N5,000 and there's no cap to how much u can invest. I know someone who sold a property and was paid around December. He invested N30m as at December and by end of February he has had over N1m in interest on the N30m invested. Anybody interested can just Google " Stanbic IBTC money market fund" and then do it yourself. |
