There are companies who prepare their accounts on quarterly basis and they compute how much they make in profit on a quaterly basis. At the close of each quarter's account, they present the profit to the board who will then approve distribution of dividend to respective shareholders.

Because the employees are given a tiny proportion of the company's share as profit, each employee will get paid dividend like all shareholders at the closure of each quarter's account.

You don't know these things because people who work in such companies no dey cast the package. They don't share the info with close friends and family because they know say na billing go follow. Things dey happen bro

Off my head, I know at least 3 financial services companies that can compete with these oil companies in bonuses and salaries, I am not talking about the big 4 now
I have implemented ERP for both oil companies and financial companies, the difference is clear as day and night.
I wish I can mention one but for the sake of confidentiality, these guys are ogbologbo from not declaring their profit for the year, profit sharing, off payroll salaries, benefits and bonuses
As at 2020, an OND holder working in the reception was collecting 500k after tax and pension. Wardrobe allowance, leave allowance and 13th month are all 100% of her pay elements meaning if are salary is 550/month she have 550*3 already for the year for an OND holder
Excluding profit sharing and other benefits like free meals, monthly provisions etc
While for the popular oil and gas company I implemented for it didn't reach what did financial company are giving their staff, moreover the engineers payroll was handled by foreign company because they were paid in USD that's why I conclude they are the real ballers

U are talking about one or two companies that are outliers and not the norm in the financial services . I’m talking about general practice in an average company in the oil and gas industry .

Not many people will get jobs in those top financial services firm, but oil and gas companies on the average had prospect of making u comfortable overtime . There are oil and gas companies where employees get profit sharing on a quarterly basis and it is usually trumps a financial service firm’s annual profit sharing

Methinks not everybody fancies the idea of erecting mansions in their villages. I also don't buy the idea of building mansions that will not be out to use for most part of the year. It just looks like wasting money to me.

Would you recommend an auditor going to work for an oil company (indigenous) for N500k or staying with a Financial Services company for N700k

The auditor in question already has experience in manufacturing and financial services sector and I'm inclined to think he should open up his options in the oil industry as the ceiling is much higher.

If the person's goal is to make enough money and enjoy better terms of service, let him research about "other benefits" the oil company offers aside salary.

When I say "other benefits", I mean productivity bonus, profit sharing/dividend to staff, children educational benefits( for example they may peg Ur child's school fees as 500k annually and pay for ; 4 kids Irrespective of whether u have kids or not according to company policy . That's N2m cool cash) , security allowance, generator allowances, etc.

You see those aforementioned benefits? For some companies in the oil and gas sector, they trump whatever Ur actual salary looks on paper.

Another thing about oil companies is that they have a very strong union that are always dragging management and pushing for improved term of service. Unions like PENGASSEN no dey play at all with their members welfare and always engaging management for salary increment any time there is a change in economic situation in the country. Unions in ghe financial services are not as proactive as that.

There are other factors to consider Sha.

Houses built in the village don't serve u more than few days in a year and u still have to be paying regular utility bills. It's not worth it at all.
