Shariah is for Muslims, I don't support the idea of Muslims in the SW suffering in silence. The Christians and traditional worshippers should learn how to live and let live. That's the true meaning of religious tolerance

Ishaq Oloyede is a professor of Islamic Studies and that his bias is making him lie bold facedly. How can he be misleading the public by making statements like this: “If there is a dispute in my marriage, where do I go? I don’t have the opportunity because I married according to Islamic rites, I will have to go to customary court where the customary judge knows next to nothing about my faith, about the laws on the basis on which we got married" ?

A customary court comprises of 3 to 5 members and at least one of the members will usually be knowledgeable in Islamic law.

These people just want to whip up sentiments and appear to be smart when in fact they are not. Anybody swallowing everything they are saying hook, line and sinker is equally not smart and just letting himself to be fooled by their half ass agenda. Since I was a kid who reads Newspapers every weekend while growing up, I've always read about divorce and other domestic cases that come up at Customary courts in Lagos.(i think there's one in Oshodi). Some of those cases involve Muslims and the presiding customary court officials will judge the matter on Islamic laws.

This yeye professor knows that Customary courts in the Southwest is equivalent to Sharia/Area in the north because we simply don't operate the same court/legal system. If he wants to enjoy Sharia he should go and be enjoying it in their Ilorin(Kwara state) which they have voluntarily ceded to the north by their actions and inactions. They should leave the Southwest the 4ck alone!

The Traditional worshippers, Christians and some liberal muslims in the Southwest will oppose this Sharia thingy vehemently. The southwest is not the north where they can force sharia down the people's throat.

If u are active on TikTok u will notice that sometimes around mid last year there was serious issue between the Traditional worshippers and muslims of Yoruba extraction. A whole lot of gbas gbos from both parties to the extent that the traditional worshippers said a whole lot of unprintable things about the Prophet. Reading the room on that alone, I know the sharia sponsors will face serious hurdle for the sharia thingy to happen.

I read the Imam of Lekki central mosque saying muslims should not vote any candidate that will not allow Sharia courts to be introduced and I laugh because he's just fooling himself. Most of the people he's addressing cannot even live in compliance with Sharia codes ; I get many of them as friend. I get like 2 friends wey be princes from different kingdoms on that Lagos Island/Eti Osa who are both Muslims and still engage in serious traditional rites like eyo masqurade, celebrating traditional festivals like Ogun, etc. Shey na person wey dey slaughter dog for Ogun go dey support sharia court?

All these people shouting Sharia court are just few inconsequential extremists like that Ishaq Oloyede(Jamb registrar) that opposed Christian courts way back

I bought a book last week when I travelled which I'm currently reading; "DICTATORLAND- The Men Who Stole Africa" by Paul Kenyon.

The book is about African leaders ike Ghaddafi, Mobutu,Babangida, Abacha, Mugabe and other African dictators who stole their respective countries dry while their people suffer. The book traced some of those leaders behaviour to following in the footsteps of the white colonial masters who were the original thieves who handed over to our brothers who turned out to be bigger thieves after independence.

There was a part in the book that narrated how the whites plundered parts of presnst day South Africa for Diamond and gold, gave the blacks cheap alcohol and European prostitutes as compensation while the whites kept on getting richer. Omo! Those whites really run the blacks streets o; the Boers and the British really use the black heads. More like the blacks woke too late and that's why they are always angry to the point of encouraging violence against the whites in the present day South Africa.
