Yes. I understand from both sides and I will not blame Kennis or the promoters like others. Its business. You know how many guys Olamide invested in and didnt make shingbain. All of us online arbitrators, did we refund him?

In this world its until someone gives his entire networth out before he wont get blame. We will tell employers how much they need to pay

If you remember Kenny now threw the question to Nedu that did he disclose how much Youtube is paying him to the rest of the crew and if he will entertain questions about his sharing formular/agreement with the rest of the crew?. Nedu kept quiet
I saw that part grin

Nedu kept mum; it's obviously a trade secret.

Na pride wan kill that egbon. Maybe if he had just stick to writing music and then venture into other businesses, he will still command respect on the streets.

Just take a look at Eldee, he relocated from naija and entered tech. Today Eldee is living really well and even recently bought a Tesla Cyber Truck.

I also came across General Pype recently on IG, he now lives in America; I think he shoots videos in Hollywood. I think he was on the set of Tusla King 2. Blackface too should've focused on doing something else with his life

That is what I was going to say, Politics is dirty and if you no wan stain, don't enter it. Dokpesi got stained by politics. The allure of politics money is too much for some people to ignore.

If na me don make am for private sector like that, I will likely avoid politics. See even people that used to beg Trump or Elon for 2mins of his time, People wey no fit stand in the same table as him will be hauling insults at him because of politics

Lets bring it to the local level, Person like Asue has been chairman of several top notch companies in Nigeria dining with the top echelon of Nigerian politics. Similar to how Elumelu, via Dangote etc are seen without capping, the likes of SanwoOlu or Monday might not be able to get audience with him pre Politics, Now he don enter politics in the ring with dem Monday, Now Monday will initiate a probe on how Asue stole 2004 Toyota Corrola from Edo. Imagine

The flip side is that if business people avoid politics then we are leaving it to career politicians who havent done anything without govt patronage in their lives
Politics is really dirty.

I'm sure if Dokpesi had stayed off politics, what the history books will be saying about him is quite different from what we have today. He's someone that the association of media outfit owners should've honoured at death for his pioneer works in the industry.

He's someone that the broadcasting world should've stood still for his burial. But when he died it was more like just a random PDP member died and that was just that.

I think if a private sector must go into politics, then he must make sure he wins cos if not politicians will rub rofo-rofo on his leagcy in the private sector. I remember one labor party guy in Edo state during the last election; Idris Zikiri was just rubbing Asue's time on the board of Sterling Bank , Nigerian Brewries etc and claimed he just dey gba. grin

People generally support the underdog even if they know the story is faulty. They saw Blackface as the underdog
I think Blackface being a cool guy who doesn't like to talk much really made it seem like his long silence was an admission of guilt.

Some of us didn't believe Blackface because he was the underdog but because we felt 2face not saying anything means he was guilty. And Blackface just kept on going from one station to another repeating the same lies instead of going to promote his new works.

We were even guilt-tripping 2face and saying he should've at least find something for Blackface as a brother.

You know me, As a capitalist I will be on the side of Kenny Ogungbe on this

This is a business. And Kenny's music invested a lot in lets say 10 artistes. Maybe na only 3 go blow. Shey na until Kenny go broke ni?

One thing Kenny kept repeating is artistes read your contract, take it to lawyer

On a similar note. I heard Asake and Olamide are falling out due to contractual issues. I am a fan of both. I remembered when Yemolee was speaking and said Olamide gave Asake contract to review in a week and return, Asake returned it in a few hours because the opportunity to work with Olamide was too big in his eyes that he was ready to sign his life away just to enter studio with Olamide

He claimed Asake said something like Olamide Badoo, I fit sign 10yrs give you. Now think about it, If in 2024, Asake is now saying Olamide took advantage of him. Who is to blame? The person wey give you contract or you wey sign

There are thousands of Asake on the streets of Nigeria waiting for opportunities the likes of Kennis music will give them
Yorubas do have a saying that roughly translates to " When one is broke, the character one exhibits at that point in time is usually not that person's true character" . It is when people make money they start having idea, start questioning the sharing formula of contracts signed and start seeing their record label owners as shylocks trying to rip them off.

I think from now till 100 years time, upcoming will always sign whatever contract is thrown at them. The desperation to 'blow' will never allow them to read through contracts like Kenny kept repeating. And the record labels will always have the upper hands with their lawyers preparing contracts with wordings that protect their investment in the artiste's career. Imagine shooting Music video for N20m and then after one album the artiste wants to start having ideas.

I didn't read the job description, I only saw Izzou's post, hence why I concluded from it. From the post it said the 70k was for a week, so when I times it by roughly 4 weeks that makes up a month, the amount is quiet reasonable.

But, however, I didn't know the number of hours the person was supposed to work was that much. People work longer than that number of hours in Naija and still earn paltry sums at the end of the month.

A friend of mine lives on the mainland & works on the island. The girl comes back roughly around 9pm on most days due to traffic depsite the office closing by 5pm and she leaves by 5:30am every day to meet up on time at work. She doesn't earn up to 150k a month. That offer is it not better than hers?
This job is not better than your friend's and I will tell u why.

Your friend definitely resumes 8am and closes 5pm (These are the official hours) , meaning she works 40 hours a week (i.e 8 hours daily x 5 days a week). She coming back leaving 5am and coming back 9pm is not peculiar to her; it happens to almost all workers who work on the Island and reside on the mainland or outskirts of Lagos.

Your friend works official 40 hours a week and gets paid close to 150k which is way over the minimum wage. If u notice, the job advert izzou reacted to carefully require that the candidates should stay within a particular axis. If anybody not staying within that axis applies, they will be worse off than ur friend because they will spend majority of the meagre 70k on transport fare and stay considerable hours in traffic like ur friend.

Confirm strikers for where in South America?

If Brazil and Argentina dey struggle to produce No 9s for the national team wetin go dey the other countries. The drought is everywhere.
Baba, it was the era of Messi and Neymar that made those two nations to overlook potential No.9s for their respective teams.

We all know how Messi dominated the national team for over 15 years and counting; obviously it will be difficult for any traditional No.9 to break into the national team within that period. Same with Neymar who was the official poster boy for Brazil up till maybe last two seasons.

This does not mean there are no prolific strikers currently playing in their leagues, it just mean those guys would not get a chance while super stars like Messi and Neymar who can play across all roles upfront are still around.

I'm sure we will see a flurry of new talents taking up the striker role once the curtain draws close on their respective careers

Bro, people earn 30k a month as sales girls (many or some of who are graduates) in many markets, and you think this is not a good offer in this shit hole of a country? In this harsh economy? 70k times 4 weeks, how many graduates earn the total amount in a month in this country?
Where did u see 70k x 4 weeks? 😏

The job simply says 50-70k salary meaning the person will earn between 50k and 70k for a whole month.

While 70k might seem fair for a job that does not require any tertiary education qualification like B.sc or HND, the work hours is actually not so cool.

A typical work hours as recognized by international.labor organization is 40hours per week ( i. e 8 hours daily x 5 working days in a week.)This job however requires u to work 54 hours a week (i. e 9 hours daily x 6 working days in a week). I believe that is what Izzou is reacting to. Paying minimum wage for a job that requires one to work 14 extra hours weekly is actually cheating but like u rightly said, Naija na shiiit hole.

Even 9ice back then. A lot of people got to know 9ice when he did "Make Dem Talk" in 2006 or so (a social conscious song which is still relevant today, along with El Dee's 2007 "Me I Go Yarn"wink.
But I knew 9ice from the earlier 2000's as an upcoming artiste who performed at the AIT Easter Party and the Christmas fiesta.

----

Blueraydick, Naeto C's 2007 "Kini Big Deal" and the explosion of Mo'hit's Crew and P Square was the actual time Nigerian music went truly global and we ditched foreign music. The video quality by Sesan was awesome and was of U.S. standard. Those were our first true Nigerian international megastars.

2Face was doing his thing with Ghanaian artiste and Jamaican star "Beenie Man" then but it was mostly on the African stage. The guys I listed above took us completely intercontinental.

Then came Banky W, our answer to Craig David and Joe.

----

IamOnyindamola, you forgot to mention Capital F. E. M. I. I swear by anything that guy matched Joe fpr carriage, voice range, and potential star power. And he was a U.S. retunee too. Our first true R&B star in 2004, I think. Kennis and AIT promoted him like crazy.
You are right, during dem 2face era it was mostly about doing tours in African countries like Ivory Coast, Senegal, Gambia, etc. It was more of an African continent thing. Aside from the fact that Kennis pay for Grammy's rights(which Keke addressed in the podcast) which they take their artistes to yearly, they weren't doing much outside the continent.

The Dbanj/Don Jazzy's set , Banky W's set and the rest of dem returnees opened up our music to the outside world. I think coming on board of indigenous music platforms like Soundcity and HipTV also played a major role.

Now we have Nigerian artistes like Davido, Rema, Burnaboy, Wizkid, etc filling up stadia and major concert halls in western countries like USA, UK, Australia, etc.

Keke mentioning that they would travel with Ghana-must-go full of CD's of their artistes anytime they travel abroad really made me realize how technology has now helped the new school artistes.

If you go to the thread discussing the matter on this platform, there are literally several people defending and advocating for the guy. I have come to the conclusion that our culture sees absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping with underaged girls. And this goes beyond religion

The other possibility is rage bait. The more outrageous your stand the more engagement, the more clicks, the more views, more debate and therefore more monetization.

People want to be pissed off and annoyed and they will gravitate towards topics that will do this to tbem
I guess it is more about the bolded; they most likely do it for engagement.

To be blunt it is a reflection of Nigeria as is. You are a minority in Nigeria. When internet access was expensive, you were in a majority on Nairaland and so you were in a bubble. Now internet is accessible to all, and you are back to being a minority.

A lot of things we find weird or bizarre or distasteful are actually the way the average Nigerian thinks.

It is what it is.
I get u, but some things are just so weird and u cant but wonder how somebody with functioning brain will express some distasteful opinion and be proud about it.

This morning, I saw a lengthy post on Facebook by all these emergency bloggers that are farming Mark Zuckerberg's money.

She was reacting to the Dj Kulet and her husband's marital issue that made the news last week. So DJ Kulet issued a disclaimer that she is no longer with her husband of 8 months because she discovered to be a randy man who has not only slept with anything in skirt but also slept with a 13-year-old minor under her roof. She released a video where the husband was confessing to the allegations and was blaming the devil. The mother of the minor was heard in the video trying to make a case for the randy DJ Kulet's husband and she seem not to be angry unlike DJ Kulet. The mother of the minor was willing to have the whole issue swept under the carpet and the randy husband 'forgiven'

Now back to the Facebook blogger's post, she was literally blaming DJ Kulet. She said DJ Kulet was wrong to have exposed her husband and should've known her husband likes to have sexx regularly. She blamed the wife for not always making herself available and being responsible for why the husband had to look outside for sexxual satisfaction. She also said after the wife found out about him sleeping with a minor, she should've prayed with her husband and further seek spiritual help for him. She said because the wife could not cover her husband's shame, no other man will be willing to marry her.

I was shocked that a human(not to mention a woman) would write all of that. I mean how did she exonerate the husband and then blamed the wife for his atrocious actions? The funny thing is even when people were challenging her in the comment section, she said that was her opinion on the matter and she's at liberty to share it on her page. I was too dumfounded to even react, I just read the post and jumped it past.

There was the Kennis Easter Fiesta too at Kuramo beach where artistes locally and internationally performed right on the beach before Star Trek made it bigger. Kids couldn't attend so we just watched on TV.
The DAAR Easter party at AIT/Raypower Headquarters at Alagbado.

Then the big one: AIT/DAAR Communications Christmas Fiesta from the beginning of December to the first week of January which held without fail at the then Gateway Hotels (now American-I-can't-remember-the-suffix-right-now Hotel) right on the boundary between Ogun and Lagos.

Accompanied by a chaperone who pay an entrance and pool fee for their wards, children had access to everything, including entering the Santa Claus booth for gifts. Gifts sponsored by manufacturing companies like Dufil/Indomie, Cadbury, Nestle...who were nestled in axis.

Imagine how it felt for us kids seeing artistes and celebrities like the Papa Ajasco crew we watched and adored on television in person, and interacting almost daily as long as our parents could bring us to the venue daily for a month.

Then there were their OAPs Slim Steve, Tito da Fire, and Tolu Alatisé (I think?) who did everything to promote Nigerian artistes with interviews every evening and at these festive events too.

Raymond Dokpesi was the bomb.
U know ball!

That Kennis Easter fiesta produced a lot of super stars . Some young up and coming musicians got signed after their performances at the easter fiesta. I remember how we usually look forward to watching clips of the easter fiesta few weeks after easter when they air them bit by bit for weeks on Prime time Jamz.

Omo, there's just this nostalgic feeling that comes with reliving those memories. Almost everyday when I pass where Kurami beach used to be , I just shake my head because the future generation will never know where is now called Eko Atlantic city used to be Bar Beach and Kuramo beach where fun seekers go to have a nice time during festivities. Most younger generation won't know the number of stars that were made on the sandy beach.

Dokpesi really opened up that Alagbado axis at a time most people wouldn't go beyond Iyana Ipaja. The last time I was around AIT early December, I couldn't but marvel at how the whole place now looks like a city.

Everything was done to satisfy him yet he was using same Africa queen to gather pity, the version he sang sef no blow just the way he replied edris and didn't go far

Those kennis guys are the OG they tried for naija music
This particular podcast appearance by Keke has changed my mindset about some things. Before now, I always believe when people say shiiit about u and know it is not true, u should not dignify such person with response and just allow them to wallow in their self delusion; sooner or later the person will tire out and people will forget whatever nonsense that person says about u.

However, I have learnt from this 2face vs Blackface story that when u allow a person so much shiiit about u and don't address it on time, people will tend to believe that shiiit over time and see u as a bad person.

For so many years most of thought 2face did Blackface dirty by stealing African queen they co-wrote , made it into a best selling music and never gave credit to Blackface while blackface was down and facing serious financial challenge. Now Keke is coming out with fact acknowledging that the song was registered in the name of 2face and Blackface from inception. If this fact had been put out back then, all those pity party Blackface was faming would've gone to dust.

I'm sure a lot of people sided with Blackface seeing 2face from the lens of a wicked friend who took credit for a joint work and never bothered to help his "brother" when he was down. His silence did more harm than good. I understand Kele saying because he was an employee back then and was always on radio everyday, he didn't want to be having a rofo-rofo fight with Blackface, but 2face should've addressed the issue long time ago.

Although I know 2face's commercial success must have really affected Blackface mentally sha.

On a more serious note though the PR job and image rebranding Kenny and D1 did for Nigerian music can’t be quantified.

This was a time when Nigerians themselves did not really like Nigerian music like that. No matter how wretched the Naija song was, Kenny would still call it a “haat new video”.
Omo!

I am one of the few people during my time growing up who never liked foreign music, I was never a fan of dem 2pac, B.I.G, Eminem, NAS and the rest of them. Kennis music/AIT jamz came at a time I really needed Nigerian music and I just can't appreciate them enough for the work they put in to promote Nigerian music and laid the road map to put our music on a global screen.

I always look forward to Friday evenings for prime time Jamz to air for that "haat new video" like you rightly put it grin

Although I know he won't come to the podcast to talk about the unfavorable contracts they may have given to some of the artistes under them, but one must credit them for paving the way while others never thought Nigerian music can ever get a global appeal. I will never judge a defender if he is faced with an attacker 1v1. Rather it's the cover (Gabriel M). What Mbeumo did was simple, aim at Cala blind side. That blind side was where GM should be.
Mbeumo was always going to cut in and shoot. You would be lucky to block the shut. If GM was where Mbeumo was going to cut in, he would have had no option than to go wide.

I can't blame one for being dribbled, I blame the cover for leaving the space after the dribble.
Ur school of thought is advocating for players not to take responsibility for their own mistakes .

If u coach a team like this , ur team will always ship a basket load of goals every match

Gabriel is a LCB and if u watch the match u will see he was clearly covering LCB while Calafiori was expected to cover the LB position while engaging Mbeumo.

Calafiori’s primary duty was to cover his Left side by so doing ;blocking off Mbeumo’s strong foot . He failed at that and that was why Mbeumo could use his left foot to place the ball the same place Calafiori failed to cover .

How can u leave Calafiori and start blaming Gabriel ? Maybe u should watch the replay of the game again.

You don't even need luck to stop Mbeumo there at all. Saliba does that almost every game, all he just needed to do was close him down and narrow the angle by blocking off his strongest foot. It's either the ball ricochet off his leg or the shot ends up being a weak & ineffective shot.

The lady spraying the cash on his behalf sef need to be taken in for questioning, Hushpuppy has never come across as somebody who have common sense. Always showing off unnecessarily.
On the bolded I agree with u 100%

I recently read MI Abaga's account of how hushpuppi came to hate him and the rest of Chocolate City crew. The choc city guys were on a rush to the airport to meet up with their flight to Malaysia when they run into a random fan that was selling bottle water. The random fan was hushpuppi, he sold them the bottle water and begged for a selfie.

MI declined the request for a selfie explaining to him that they were in a hurry and can't afford to wait any more seconds for the selfie.

Few years later after Hushpuppi had made enough fraud money, he started going about dissing MI and using his encounter with him as motivational speech. He kept on claiming MI snubbed him in the past but now he can buy the entire chocolate city. Imagine using fraud money to form motivational speaker against someone who made legit money.

Shebi if he had sense he would've just enjoy his fraud money on a lowkey and stop disturbing everybody's ears with his story of his ill-gotten wealth

ST- Thuram or Isak

Sell.
Sanches
