Odegaard that should be our midfield creator also played rubbish in this match . He didn’t create anything through the middle and we had to rely on the out of form Trossard and all speed no brain Martinelli on the wings . |

daveP: Consistency. It's not in this team right now. We don't score freekicks lately. Commentator talk am too. Unlike dem Cazorla sanchez era that once ball land for that zone, person for don dey jubilate cos 8/10 assurance say e go enter. We don't have such assurance currently. If ability dey e never reach that level to become something we prep towards. How many free kick did Carzola score in an Arsenal shirt ? It’s because Carzola scored free kick in one or two important matches that’s why u think he cored gazillion of free kicks . We don’t score free kicks because our current pattern doesn’t rely on that. We would rather lob the ball for our CB’s to contest and put at the back of the net once the free kick is not too close to the post . Trosaard and Odegaard are good free kick specialists . The fact that Odegaard didn’t score this one doesn’t mean he can’t score another one |

daveP: We go get 25yrd freekick and mind go just cut you cos yunno nobody dey this squad with that bend it in ability or consistency. Make una stop this things jare . The same Odegaard has scored that kinda free kick before , I think it was vs Watford. That he didn’t score it today doesn’t mean he can’t score it . Haba ! Once Arsenal is a goal behind una go just Dey reason una team less less . |

daveP: Ill praise him. That was a. Flash of the Martinelli we know. At least he didn't fall pr play it to the GK.
Besides, the shooting tonight and the abandoning of the usual possession football is cool. I no understand Trossard again. Martinelli actually tried for the effort , just that a goal would’ve crowned his efforts . As for Trossard, I don’t even know if it’s a mental block for him |

Leyqute: Havertz should’ve stretched Newcastle’s defense line for that counter Raya initiated by throwing the ball to Martinelli. Woukxe created space for him to operate in. Instead everywhere just choke. Havertz keeps playing like his football brain didn’t develop fully . Sometimes when the team is trying to play a counter attack he will just be looking at his team mates instead of Ingram to create space . |

airmark: How many league titles did City win without Aguero, Alvarez and Haaland in those seasons? Haaland won the last 2 Epl titles and the golden boots in both seasons. City couldn't win UCL until they got Haaland. Will Fraudiola swap him for Bellingham or Diaz?
Liverpool with Salah and without a quality striker could only win the league once in 8 years, while Aguero won 5 in 10 years. One of the most memorable Epl won on the last day, will always feature Aguero, a striker, winning it for City 100 seconds to the final whistle in 2012.
If Barcelona and Bayern see a quality strikers next summer, they will buy. Did city win the league without a striker or not ? Did Loserpool win without striker or not ? Did Madrid win the champions league without a striker or not ? Every other story is irrelevant to me . |

Why Havertz Dey always do wrong pass when we are supposed to push counter attack ? 🤦♂️
It’s either he’s doing a wrong pass or he’s being too complacent with the ball and gets dispossessed easily |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by BlueRayDick: 8:56pm On Jan 07, 2025 |
airmark: Well, City are still holding on to Haaland while Bayern and Barca are still with old traditional strikers. And Vlahovic is still playing for the old ladies too.
It's majorly lack of quality strikers that made the likes of Jackson and Morata to be starting for big clubs and not because most clubs have moved on. Madrid are just an exception and they still bowed against City when Fraudiola added Haaland and won Ucl under their nose. City won the league without a standing 9 striker . Loserpool did the same thing . Madrid also won the UCL doing same . The world has moved beyond all that . Once u have a balanced team , u can win silverware; u don’t necessarily need to have a Haaland type of striker to win silverware |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by BlueRayDick: 7:45pm On Jan 07, 2025 |
airmark: Luiz Diaz is a winger drafted to replace that wasteful Nunez upfront though. Wingers are expected to be skillful.
What he was trying to drive home is, a Drogba that was considered not skillful with the ball that time, could do what most strikers now can't do. How do you expect a striker whose legs are not straight to do most of what Drogba did in that video? I am not sure Haaland and Nunez can do them too. I think we’ve all agreed that most teams have moved away from using strikers in the mound of dem Drogba and co in the modern world . That is what explains why people like Diaz a winger is playing as the main strike threat for his team . Teams like Madrid have won champions league in recent times without having a striker in the mould of Drogba which further proves that the game is evolving beyond having a top 9 like that . |
