That’s the problem , they always profile people once u drive exotic car u are a fraudster until they shake u up and can’t find any evidence .

That was how one stupid police man stopped me recently and was asking for different vehicle papers , I just carry the whole documents in a bunch and handed it over to him. He spent a lot of time going through it one after the other , only for him to see everything is in order . He was sha looking the car and trying to look for something to extort me ; he now asked if it was my car or someone else’s.

I just didn’t answer him but instead showed him my ID card. When he saw it, he now said ; “Sorry sir, u can go sir “ . I’m sure if it was in the night he will look for something to sha hold me

The EFCC guy just died in vain cos if this is true and the shooter turns out not to be Yahoo boy but an ordinary citizen with connection , he will walk free after some time .

in the abroad it is drug dealers who are raided with force because they are usually armed. white collar criminals are typically not armed. the whole thing is imho about intimidation via shock and awe.

You are not wrong , most of those raids are mostly unauthorized . In my personal opinion , I think EFCC being an offshoot of Nigerian police picked up some stupiiid operational procedures of Nigerian police and added it to theirs .

You know the typical way of DPO / Area Commander handing over patrol vans to ASPs who then coordinate how Sergeants, Corporals, private and Inspectors go on raid arresting people at random, shaking them down for bail and the junior officers remitting weekly to their ogas; I have a feeling this same thing is happening within EFCC.

It appears their respective zonal offices deploy officers to go on random raids in hotels , private residences , estates and anywhere they perceive anybody with substantial cash will be . They ordinarily assume anybody they come across is a criminal and they treat them as such .

When they break down ur door, ransack ur house , frisk u and don out u are legit ; they just leave u with a broken door and damaged properties while moving to or next neighbour to mete out that same treatment to him hoping he will be a yahoo boy or has something to hide which they can take him in for .

Ordinarily if Nigeria were to be a normal country this Anambra incident should be a call for EFCC to review its operations and and opportunity for the leadership of the commission to have a serious hold on the activities of their zonal offices . The head of EFCC should make sure that any set of officers reported by the public to still be carrying out such shakeups will be summarily dismissed and further tried in criminal court . You will be surprised at how this nonsense will stop .

However Nigeria being Nigeria , I know everybody will start focusing on the fact that a citizen shot at a law enforcement agent . They will suggest EFCC with the combined effort of other law enforcement agents and military to crack down on residents of that area both the innocent ones and the criminals . Some people would even be focusing on the State and region it happened as if same cannot happen in their own neighborhood too

Those EFCC are just foolish and unreasonable in their operations . I’ve been seeing several videos online of estates and private residence where they go , break down people’s doors/gates while trying to gain unauthorized access .

Most times their behavior is more of thieves than that of law enforcement agent. I know some people might not like this , but I think the actions of the house owner was justified .

Like u rightly said Anambra is battling with serious insecurity , it’s not a state a law enforcement agent should be trying to break into people’s house in the dead of the night when one would think they are robbers or kidnappers ( they don’t even dress differently from kidnappers sef ). We’ve heard of kidnappers disguising as police sometimes soldiers to kidnap unsuspecting members of the public .

Dem don knack EFCC officers shot where they were carrying out their usual illegal breaking-in into people’s home.

I don't think the carer job is the issue, rather it is the Nigerians who own care agencies that provide immigrant care workers to the care homes in the UK.

According to my guy, he said these Nigerian-owned agencies may give out 10 COS to different Nigerians knowing fully well that the requests they have from their principal may just be for 4 workers for the meantime. So they bring in 10 people whom they sell COS to, fix 4 people and keep promising the remaining 6 people shift . When u start getting frustrated, they will advise u to look for any other agency that is willing to give u free COS so they can swap their COS.

More like they only helped u to get into the country with a care visa and then leave u stranded to start hustling for job which they ought to provide for u.

It gets worse. My guy shared a video with me; In that video a man who happens to be one of the Nigerians selling COS was having a video call meeting with the people he brought in. The man said he wants to break a news to them before they start hearing about it outside. Home office has revoked his license and by virtue of that everyone he brought in are at risk of being returned to Nigeria unless they get a job that comes with sponsorship within few days (I can't remember if it was 30 days or 60 days).

If u see the way all of them were shocked and scared because they paid as much 10k, 12k for the COS; some had to sell properties at home to buy the COS. Meanwhile this man just delivered the news to them without any remorse. In the video they were asking him what will happen now? He said they should allow him sleep first jare that tomorrow morning he will get back to them , but he advise them to start looking for jobs and telling anybody they know that they need jobs with sponsorship.

I think there's some similarities between how both broke out to the first team. Although Kelly is more talented, both started out as midfielders, now both are currently playing as full backs. I think davep sees Kelly as a midfielder and does not what him to play as a fullback just like his counterpart Niles. May be he feels playing Kelly as a full back may hinder him from fulfilling his huge potential. With all that said, Saka, Bale and others also started out as full backs so this isn't linear and only time will tell.

I think it is at its core a reflection of the mentality of most of us as Nigerians. These are the same people who will connive with kidnappers and robbers to rob family members, who will loot their employer to death.

Makes me value our unity and support when we were in the Caribbean. Some people came around and did not get jobs for 12-18 months and the funds they came with from Naija finished. Other guys were basically feeding and housing them. Carnival time they will even arrange tickets to parties and raves for the ones without jobs. If you are lucky, they might even find a mentee for you.

That is how we did it. This one where people are obtaining and exploiting their own guys is shameful.

On the contrary, most people don't know what they are getting into until they get there.

Most people are promised shift by all these Nigerian owned agencies, based on this they buy the COS only to get there and discover the agency doesn't have any shift for them. One of my ex-school mate bought COS , she relocated with her husband and for 1 full year the agency didn't give her shift. Imagine not working for one full year in the UK; she was just lucky her husband who was her dependant got a job and was the one sorting their bills for one whole year. In fact, it was her husband that later helped her to secure care job with another agency through the network he built on his own job within that one year.

The crazy thing about the care job COS is that u can't work legally in other sectors aside from care.

Why didn't the guy let his friend know that he had found out it was 2.5k and not 10k? What would have happened if he had just repaid 2.5k and not 10k?

The person is not his friend o, na like "auntie". You know all these people that ur mum and their mum are friends but the person is much older than u? That's the kind of relationship they had.

The way he found out the information was the reason he couldn't tell her. The person that leaked the information to him had him promise not to divulge the source of the information. At some point the "auntie" seized his BRP and passport, he had to fight them to retrieve the documents. It was a serious matter, he thought of reporting them but if he did they will all land back here in Nigeria because those people don't even have genuine papers.

Because he didn't want them going about saying the person they helped abroad led to their deportation, he had to just let it slide and accept to be paying them in installment.

But make we no lie, the sellers are actually very wicked to their fellow countryman.

I know of someone who was assisted by a "family friend" to procure COS to relocate to London. The family friend is actually very close to him o; I mean this guy's mum and the mum of the person that helped him with the COS are childhood friends from Lagos Island.

When he got in, he discovered that the agency that sold the COS actually does not have shifts to give him to enable him earn money and start paying his bills and the cost of COS debt. The person that helped him with COS now told him she bought the COS for 10k with her money and he must refund her ASAP.

This guy nearly ran mad because he was under immense pressure, the agency is not assigning shift to him and he has 10k debt on his neck. After dragging the yeye agency for a while and threatening to report them to home office for fraud, they now revealed to him that they sold the COS to his "auntie" for 2.5k and not 10k she was trying to collect from him.

In the long run the guy had to go look for another care job sponsorship and transferred to another agency. He had no choice but to start paying the 10k in bits of 500 per month.

Imagine someone making a gain of as much as 7.5k on COS that did not even give u shift. That's not trying to survive, that is wickedness. Most Nigerians in the UK wicked gan o.

Our Lawmakers are useless, majority of them are just contented with acting as rubber stamp for the executive and collecting humongous salary.

Imagine the IGP literally presenting something totally different from what he submitted to the house and his accomplices are giving him permission to carry on. . Later we will be wondering how former IGPs like Tafa Balogun were able to steal billions right under the nose of the police service commission and the house of assembly.

If Nigeria were to be a normal country and the lawmakers reasonable individuals who have the interest of the country at heart, they would make sure they scrutinize whatever this current IGP Egbetokun brings to the house for approval. This is because the guy may jolly well be in the process of arranging a befitting retirement package for himself by hiding some juicy overheads in the police budget.

We all know the man was due to retire September 2024 when he clocked 60 but T-Pain in his own wisdom as the Igodomigodo extended his tenure for another 4 years.

It's just a shame that the chairman of the committee cares less about optics and just wants to get the session done with as fast as he can. Shame!
