raumdeuter: How many months of workers salary is Tinubu owing as we speak? How many people have been killed or fled to exile for opposing Tinubu? How many political parties have endorsed Tinubu for president Who are the banks Tinubu is favoring and selling Dollar to at reduced rates to maintain dual exchange rates 1.U mentioned multinationals were fleeing , the same thing is happening right before our eyes 2. U mentioned how unemployment is the order of the day under Abacha , the same is the case today. 3. U mentioned how people are trekking because and how people skip meals . It is happening everyday in Nigeria under Tinubu’s government .Everywhere u turn to u literally see people begging 4. While the people are not fleeing because of threat of gun under Tinubu, they are fleeing because of the hardship Tinubu government’s policy has unleashed on them. 5. The Naira keeps behaving like Abiku under Tinubu and companies keep suffering foreign exchange losses . The fact that We even have to compare Tinubu’s administration with Abacha’s regime should tell u how terrible things are . This is like the first government since the beginning of this democratic dispensation that has brought back the bitter taste of those black days . |

raumdeuter: Who was recording inflation numbers during Abacha period and when was this 50% that was reduced to 6% under Abacha
Under Abacha, the Federal minimum wage was N450 and the money wasn't even paid regularly which led to many strikes and stay at home. That was the time feeding formulas of 010 for adults and 101 for children became a common joke in the society Trekking was normalized on a new level. That was the time trekking from Allen to Egbeda was routine, I even did Jibowu to Egbeda a few times
ASUU was on strike for an entire year and Abacha's solution was to sack all lecturers which was why there was no JAMB in 1996 calendar year There is something known as Abacha stove because of how much hardship was in those days
Under Abacha unemployment was the order of the day, No one was hiring as the economy had crumbled, Multinational already fled the country due to the pariah state status, FDI was at the minimum. Banks were failing at an alarming state the only ones who survived were those Abacha favored and sold Dollar at FG rate of N22 to while public rates was N78
Abacha solution was to put in place a transition to civilian rule, gave us 5 political parties and all the 5 had him as presidential candidate, Any politician who spoke against him was jailed or assassinated. Organized 1million youths to Abuja and notable musicians to come "Beg him" to contest
The only way to survive was to flee the country or kiss Abacha's asss in a mega way openly , When we won Atlanta Olympics, some members of the Dream team even went extra and donated their medals to Abacha
Maybe we need a refresher on Abacha times to relive those "good times" once again Everything u mentioned here (bar ASUU strike ) and worse is currently happening in Nigeria as we speak. So how’s Tinubu’s era better than Abacha’s regime? |

Sportsweb: Blame Balon dor that refused to state the major criteria of winning.
Year A: they are giving it to the player that won Ucl and more trophies
Year B: they gives it to the player that score more goals than others.
So it's hard to know how they make those decisions. If it's by individual output, mbappe and Kane should be headlining it
But since the last few years has been judged by how many trophies won, that's why Bellingham and Vini with half of Kane's goal tally are getting the push.
Nobody knows The process of deciding the winner has been explained over and over again . It is normal statistics that involves ranking system , just like the likert scale you use in ur final year project questionnaire in School .

I dont know about the other countries you mentioned. But in Nigeria we have states who go below national minimum wage. If you go up North, the number of states currently paying the 30k minimum wage cant be up to 10.
Our leaders are just callous, wicked and inconsiderate.
Are these the Govs that want to be paying 100k salary?
The best move will always be for the FG and NLC to come up with a minimum wage for FG staff and private sector while each state should go and negotiate their own minimum wage with the state chapter of NLC. My question is do they have different national minimum wage in countries like UK , US, Austrialia , Canada , Germany , etc ? I mean like the US where we copied their Federal system of government , does minimum wage vary from state to state ? |

Even in developed countries it is usually other people's money, either in the form of a few millionaires donating millions of dollars each OR a few thousands/millions of people donating a few dollars each. All those groups are donating money to a campaign not for altruistic reasons but because they want something in return on the back end. That’s true sha . As a matter of fact , Gilbert Chagoury was convicted by a Swiss court for laundering money for Abacha and he had to return $6million back to Nigerian government .
This same Gilbert Chagoury is whom Tinubu’s government awarded a 15 trillion road construction contract to in 2024 without following the bidding process . |

raumdeuter: Abacha by being military was an illegitimate govt. The first thing any military junta does is to suspend the constitution, So the Abacha regime was unconstitutional. So that was the main thing Tinubu Onanuga etc fought for which was to return the governance of the country to civilian rule and end the illegitimate military govt
Secondly I doubt this times are tougher than Abacha times whether economically or socially. Economically was when sawdust cooking took over, when ASUU went on strike and Abacha fired all lecturers, when critics of govt like Ken Saro Wiwa, Kudirat, Rewane, Omatsola etc were not just called uncouth languages like Sons of bitches but they were hunted down and killed, Even arguing in Newspaper stands against govt can get you locked up. So much that commonwealth expelled the country That didnt stop Abacha from stuffing money in overseas banks that we are still cashing out 25yrs after his death The fact that u think the bolded shows u are so detached from the reality in Nigeria as of today. As bad as Abacha was , there are records that suggest inflation was reduced from over 50% to 8.5% under his regime. Today inflation rate stands above 30% in 2024. Today Nigerians spend most of their income on feeding . A derica of beans is 2,000 and the minimum wage is 30,000. That minimum wage will not even feed a young school leaver for 15 days out of 30 days in the month . Yes Abacha was a monster, a brute , a dictator and the head of an illegitimate government who stole from the country . But u saying the hardship in present day Nigeria is lesser than what obtained during Abacha days shows u are far away from the reality |

larride: N I dont blame the NLC chairman though, when the chairman see him lavishing money anyhow at a period of "austerity" and asking the citizens to endure, the union are well within their right to demand for a living wage.
Our politicians are not sincere, you cant keep asking the citizens to endure while you are lavishing the little you say is available.
You say you can't pay 150k as minimum wage but you want to spend billions on frivolities. Even if the billions you want to spend on frivolities will not be enough to cater for the 150k minimum wage, common sense dictates that you dont portray the govt as insensitive and callous. The bold is the issue I have with those blindly defending this government . They see this truth but refuse to talk about it. Saying “ when we are outside you can talk about ideals, but when u are inside u know talk is cheap “ makes no sense to me in this matter at all. Life was hard under Abacha and guys like Onanuga were brave enough to fight Abacha to a standstill with everything they had . That is highly commendable . Today life is even harder under the government Onanuga works for . All Onanuga does is abuse the people fighting against the hardship and even calling them unprintable names while his principal and the political class responsible for the hardship keep spending billions on frivolities . My question is would they rather keep quiet and die in silence because Bayo Onanuga and his generation had fought for democracy over 25 years ago ? Should they take every nonsense being thrown at them while lying down ? |

Ajaero dem dey call for 500K minimum wage, I am 100% certain if he is made Edo state governor today, he wont pay above 120K Just like every employee thinks the employer should be paying more, working them less. Just like spectators dey all sabi play pass Messi until dem enter field When you are outside you can talk about ideals, when you get inside you know whats up Everybody knows nobody will pay them 500k. Ajaero and the union also know this. They are only setting their negotiation point so high that they will arrive at a middle ground that works for everyone . We see ASUU do this everytime. In a statement released on Friday and shared with FIJ, NBA said Awoke was released from custody alongside one Onyiba Emmanuel Chinonso, a computer science student at Ebonyi State University.
“I am pleased to inform you that I have, today, 21 June 2024, secured the release of our colleague, Pius 1. Awoke, Esq of Abakaliki Branch from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS). He was released alongside one Onyiba Emmanuel Chinonso, a computer science student of Ebonyi State University, who was arrested and detained with Mr. Awoke,” the NBA statement reads in part.
FIJ reported on May 23 that Awoke, who was arrested by the DSS while traveling from Ebonyi to Abuja on July 21, was still being held. A source had revealed that the agency refused to charge him in court or grant him bail as prescribed by the constitution.
“Awoke was travelling from Ebonyi to Abuja when officials of the DSS stopped his commercial vehicle and arrested him. They arrested all the men who were on the bus, including him, thinking they were of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sect,” the source told FIJ. When they say may Nigeria never happen to u, na big prayer o. 3 years of people’s life wasted just like that. 😳 I’m sure the school would’ve rusticated the student after he didn’t register for courses nor pay school fees for 3 session. This assumes they have not actually been in any crimes like rape or aggravated assault though Hmmm. It’s not that straightforward o. Nigeria operates two criminal law system; In the south criminal code is operational while penal code is operational in the North . Take a look at a brief summary of the Lagos anti-cultism law below . Something like this will suffice . Like Gloriousgbola mentioned above, let there be a cultism register and let anybody who is convicted have his name registered in it. Let such person be deprived of rights of a normal citizen .
