The fact that he even thinks like that shows most of them are so detached from reality of the common man in this country .

In the real sense of things , how many votes can politicians actually buy to win election ? Most times poor people vote for nonsense politicians not because of the money they flashed in their face but fraudulent campaign promises the politicians will later fail to fulfill.

For example Buba Galadima was Buhari’s wingman for years in the CPC . When CPC later merged with ACN and others to form APC; Buhari had his shot at presidency and campaigned making lots of promises that centered around change . A lot of people bought into it and for 8 years all Buhari did was either having Femi Adesina deny he ever made such promises or claiming he has done his best without any visible evidence .

How much money did Buhari spend to buy votes ? I can bet he didn’t spend 1/10 of what Jonathan had in the war chest in 2014/2015.

Even for governorship and house of assembly elections it is almost the same thing . U see a governorship or HOA candidate going to backwater riverine communities where they don’t have electricity , pipe borne water , schools etc . They go promise them social amenities when voted in. After election they renege on their promise and then use incumbency power to win re-election .

I believe the fraction of people who sell their vote for money cannot really win politicians elections , that’s why they resort to other gimmicks like introducing campaign promises they can’t fulfill , tribalism , religious sentiments , etc to get more voters to their side .

I doubt this is the case. It makes no sense for him to be demanding for minutes when he has couple of senior players ahead of him in the pecking order that are still hustling for minutes.

It will most likely have to do with money i.e. an improved contract Or maybe the club wants him to go on loan & he feels he should just leave to try his luck elsewhere.

It makes no sense to be using Southgate's trophyless 8 year tenure to rate him simply because on paper it looks like he got better results than his predecessors; while in actual fact there are coaches like the Croatian coach who has done well with a less talented team within the same time frame.

Those are his contemporaries. Why are u scared of rating Southgate side by side with his competitors? Southgate has Declan Rice, Phil Foden, Saka, Walker, Stones, Palmer, Kane,Bellingham etc who are some of the best talents in World football as at today; Judge Southgate on what he's been able to do with them abeg.

Southgate came and England made it to semis of two major tournaments back to back and made it to the final in one ( 2018 World Cup/ 2020 Euros). That's progress if you ask me.

That is not how to make a reasonable argument for how good a manager has been . You don’t go back to 50 years and start measuring the performance of current manager with that of his predecessors .

Instead , u check the performance of his competitors with similar crop of players and see how he’s fared . For example, the Croatia manager has been a more successful manager than Southgate ; and there’s no way u can convince me Southgate didn’t have more talented players at his beck and call within the same time frame.

The English FA would be fooolish to allow Southgate keep his job because he performed better than other mediocre English coaches in the past 50 years while other teams with less talented players are outperforming Southgate’s

House of reps, I might agree but senate is the third most contested election in the country after Presidency and Governorship.

The fact that Senate seat is usually keenly contested doesn't necessarily mean the best brains get elected. My point still stands that if u have money, some political clout and belong to the political party in town, u can find ur way into the senate.

He does have some clout, or at least his surname does...I think either him or his brother is a popular philanthropist in that part of the state, and that's what he leveraged to become a senator.

If u mena slipping through the process to senate, well there's actually no reasonable electoral ladder progression to the senate or HOR in this country. Any random person can make it to the senate or HOR in this country.

Like u rightly said, just being a philanthropist who is a member of a popular political party in ur constituency, u can find urself in the HOR or Senate. U may be a former banker, a musician, a comedian, a pastor or even a convicted 419/fraudster in Obodo Oyinbo.

I don't think this guy slipped through any electoral process. The people who fielded and supported him know about his poor academic background, but they know the electorates value tribal sentiments and political clout over quality of leadership & competency.

The way they've been making the election being about Esan's turn just says it all.I don't know much about Edo state politics, but I want to believe He's probably one of the few Esan people with political clout & reach. And that's all. All those talks about him being an air brain no concern them.

I googled his name Sunday Karimi and can't really find anything on him. Where did he work prior to senate? What kind of business does he do? How many companies does he own?
