Politics › Re: Ekiti Assembly Rejects Governorship Election Result, Adjourns Till October by Bluffly: 6:59pm On Jul 17, 2018 |
Ebullience: The Ekiti State House of Assembly has adjourned legislative business until October 8, citing issues of harassment and insecurity.
The house, by the resolution, will only resume duties a week to the expiration of the tenure of the governor, Ayo Fayose.
The house also condemned and rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election which produced Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress as governor.
The house is dominated by Mr Fayose’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members.
House Leader, Akinyele Olatunji, described the process leading to the election and final result as unfortunate.
Mr Akinyele condemned the alleged harassment of Mr Fayose, PDP leaders across the state and members of the state assembly by security personnel.
On the long break of the house, Mr Akinyele said, “the adjournment became imperative due to the political harassment of members by security agents.”
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on information, Samuel Omotoso, said the election of July 14 did not meet democratic standards.
According to him, the election was marred by “outright brigandage, vote buying and falsification of results.”
The Deputy Whip of the Assembly, Ekundayo Akinleye, remarked that the outcome of the election showed Nigerians should not expect free and fair 2019 general elections.
He alleged there were discrepancies in the final figures released by INEC.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, described the election as a show of shame, with thugs and security agents allegedly openly working for the APC.
Mr Oluwawole said figures were brazenly doubled to favour the declared winner and expressed confidence that the stolen mandate would soon be retrieved.
Deliberation on the poll led to the passage of an eighth-point resolution which stated among other things that the election was heavily militarised with palpable fear on the faces of the electorate; that the security agencies compromised to the bidding of the APC; that the APC induced voters with money with connivance of the security agencies.
The House also held that there was ballot snatching by APC thugs, while PDP supporters were molested and chased out of polling booths and collation centres in open glare of security agents.
The lawmakers resolved that “the result of the governorship election stood rejected by the House.
“That the security agencies should vacate the entrance of the Government House where they were currently laying siege and also condemned the siege on the government owned radio and television outfits by armed military personnel.”
The house called on the security agencies not to hamper the work of the Ekiti State Government.

The problem with this country is lack of patriotism. There are personnels collecting salary every month to perform the duty of securing lives and property but hell no they don't bulge. No conscience. Our NPF needs to be disbanded and reconstructed. Militaru=y heads must be sacked at will if they keep failing to achieve results because it appears that the only way to get things done now is to sack people. Daviddson: "A bill for a law to prohibit open grazing" and "to provide for the establishment of ranches". The second part of the bill spoilt the broth. They should have stopped at the prohibition; there's no need to establish any ranches for those callous murderers - anywhere - except where they originally came from. If they want to establish ranches, no problem as long as hey bought a land and they pay their tax just like any other company but looking for the government to seed lands to them is a no-no. |

Drnice2: Accidents are bound to happen. That's why it's good to always pray silently(in spirit), is necessary. Rest in Peace to the dead. For those saying a Prophet marked today as Doomsday, I pity your life. You now believe humans instead of God, that you are re-quoting dates for us. Any person that always informing people of bad things to come without praying against it or not atleast saying something good to happen. Then, such person is nothing but a False Prophet. I have the habit of praying when driving, not that I can't drive well as I am a guru but I am aware that there could be sudden mechanical failure. So all I say is Jesus take the wheels be it at 60 or 140. |

HEseesall: I had to open this account for anonymity I'm in a dilemma, let me start like this, when i and my husband first got married we did a joint business that fetched us a huge amount of money, the aim was to build a house, when we got the money, he decided to use his' for his parents (i had no problem with that) then mine for what we wanted to use it for
Two weeks ago we had a major misunderstanding, it was soo intense to the extent that he told me to park out of the house, in the heat of things i told him that cannot be possible that the house is in my name, he was shocked, saying it is impossible we built it together that it's in his name, i had to remind him what happened then, he was furious saying it was wrong of me to use my name, that he cant believe he has been staying in a house that does not belong to him, he told his family what i did claming victim, then he packed out saying he wont come home till i change the name to his full name, i begged him to no avail, i dont even know how to tell my people, imagine if it was in his name, i and the kids would have been out of the house by now, he has requested for transfer from his office to another state cos of this, who does that?? He cant expect me to change it to his name.
Pls i need other advise to go about this, he is a good man but he feels his ego has been bruised, i need other options.
MODIFIED For those viewing this, i have made some clarifications down to page (1), Please if you must adjust the name make sure it is in this order as that is when you can say that you are a co owner Mr Kunke Akin Adeniran and Mrs Bimbo Kemi Adeniran |

2buffagain: Oh please fix your brain, literally. What does being simple have to be with bring poor?
This is why when black people get small money, they will not let anybody hear word again. Can you see your level of understanding. When you trail discussions with emotions you spill trash. When I say he is poor simply means he can't handle his situation without wanting to prove he is rich. If he makes the wife appears crispy then the truth is he does that in his dealings as well which makes him poor. E.g difference IBB and Dino Melaye. These two have money irrespective of their gap, stolen or made but the truth remains that IBB never flaunted up and down but Dino flaunts which makes him poor. If a man wants his wife to be heavily dressed always, he is actually making efforts to prove to the world how well he is spending on his wife or to prove is worth through his wife and this makes him poor irrespective of his bank balance. You don't have to prove what you have because it is a smoke and people will notice i without undue efforts.. So please you fix your brain, literally |

Monday200: Hello Nairalanders. Plz pardon my errors. Moderators please help with advice from pple
I'm a 27 while my boyfriend is 34,we've only dated for 7 months and he proposed to me last week. But the problem is that we are 2 different people, what he want is different from what I want.
He is from a rich family that likes flashing things, he always tell me to use make up when I say make up it not just foundation and lipstick every time am going out which I don't like at all I prefer using powder and lipstick and I use to tell him that I don't know how to do make ups yet he said he will get me a make ups artist. I don't know how am going to cope with that. Anytime we are going to see his family member or friends, he will always want me to over dress like it's a wedding day.
He likes going party a lot and anytime he ask me I will make up some excuse not to go and I don't know how long I will continue giving him excuse cos am an indoor person i don't like going out at all I only go out whenever am an having important things, there was a time he discovered and accused me of been ashamed of him that why I hate going out with him and its not like that. He likes people prying into our privacy anytime we had a misunderstanding he will ask one of his friends to beg me on his behalf and I hate this.
He always want me to wear clothes that fit his standard like wearing heavy jewelries expensive one ,high heels,(he use to buy them for me cos his a rich dude ) he want a luxurious life while I only want a simple life. He can do anything to mk me look good and classy, he is always ready to spend for that.
My problem is do you think I can adapt to his lifestyle when we get married as I like being simple. Am scared. Your husband to be is actually poor |
