Ken4Christ:You didn't even read the OP at all. I gave a background to what caused the council to hold. The issue was whether the Gentile Christians should keep the Jewish Laws This includes laws such as tithes and first fruits. The requirements are specific. The aspects of the Laws to keep are: Abstinence from idol worshipping. Not consuming blood or flesh of strangled animals. Abstinence from sexual immorality. |
Ken4Christ:On the contrary, it is you who should have spiritual sense. And who told you the first which belongs to God is fruits or money? Someone who claims to have spiritual sense thinks only of money. |
Okocha would always feel bad every time this award holds. Such a talented footballer and yet he is missing on the list. |
Ubdavis:2040. My son will win it. And then, he would go on to win the big one. |

Ken4Christ:Moreover, it is what it reads that matters and not what it doesn't read. Do not add to the Word. That passage is not silent about requirements for Gentile Christians. It provided requirements and the Holy Spirit would not burden us BEYOND the requirements in that verse. There is no tithe or first fruits there. The fact that they were no mentioned speaks a lot about those aspects of the Law. |
alBHAGDADI:You people are merely a con to separate fools from their money. So, in spite of offerings and donations every Sunday and weekday, in spite of profits got from different businesses such as high brow primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, the church can't do without firstfruits and tithes? Might I ask why the church runs all these businesses? It is obviously for profit. So how is the Church not able to manage its expenses? |
Ken4Christ:If it didn't, then your beliefs are based on assumption. You assume that since something was not listed as a requirement, then it comes down to a matter of opinion. If this is so, then why did you say firstfruits for nonJewish Christians is scriptural? |
alBHAGDADI, you recently commented on your own thread. How come you are avoiding this one? Surely, you got a mention from me. |
along3dem:Bro, I have already explained what "gentile" means. It means "outsider" or "non-Jewish". A Nigerian Christian is a Gentile Christian. |
Yes, God did not ask us to give firstfruits. "Us" here means non-Jewish Christians. If we (ken4christ, alBHAGDADI and I, for example) had lived in the time when the church was in its infant stage, we would have been called Gentile Christians. the word gentile means outsider or a non-Jew. So, a Gentile Christian is a non-Jewish Christian. The issue of whether Gentile Christians should keep the Jewish Laws did not start today. It arose even in the Early Church and reached such a destructive point that Paul and Barnabas had to be sent from Antioch to the Jerusalem church to confer with the other elders on the issue of whether Gentile Christians should keep the Jewish Laws (otherwise known as the Laws of Moses) and be circumcised. The council of elders reached an agreement through the help of the Holy Spirit. Here is the agreement: "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: (Acts 15:28) Please, note the words beyond the following requirements This means that the Holy Spirit would not burden us (Gentile Christians or non-Jewish Christians) beyond some certain requirements. "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: you are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell." (Acts 15-28-29) Let us highlight these two verses directed at us, Gentile or non-Jewish Christians. The Holy Spirit does not want to burden us with anything beyond the following requirements: 1. We should not consume food sacrificed to idols 2. We should not consume the blood or flesh of strangled animals 3. We should abstain from sexual immorality. ken4christ and alBHAGDADI, I didn't see firstfruits on the requirements. How come? This thread is also directed at the tithers, especially those who follow the false teachings of Adeboye, Oyedepo and their ilks on tithes. |
Chizuru01:Don't they have a governor in Zamfara? Yari is trying his best over there. If the president is expected to do everything, then why do states have governors? |
nairaman66:Let us be realistic: IPOB protesters are enemies of state. They want the country to break up and that is clearly criminal. Sedition is a criminal offense. It is a crime against the government. Fulani herdsmen are businessmen. Proscribing Fulani herdsmen is like proscribing Cocoa farmers because some Cocoa farmers are killing. In your opinion, the service chiefs have failed, but that is not everyone's opinion. Sometimes, it goes beyond the service chiefs. Sometimes, all a crisis needs is something else, other than policing or military strategies. Take for instance the herdsmen-farmers crisis. This is a crisis that began many years ago and has worsened due to climate change. Fight over scarce resources is definitely going to cause friction between farmers and herdsmen. A good president like Buhari decided to do something differently, rather than send in the troops. There were suggestions of cattle colonies and some other suggestions. |
alBHAGDADI:What conclusion did I make ![]() I wrote that I was beginning to believe... That is not a conclusive statement. |
alBHAGDADI:alBHAGDADI, You have become so desperate of late. I am beginning to believe that you are a pastor. Anyway, tomorrow (Sunday), I shall put this matter of tithe and first fruit to rest once and for all, using just two Bible verses. |
Reference:The issue is not who is praising him but how such praise has worked on Nigerian players in the past. It appears like many of our players lose focus easily when praised. Mikel Obi was praised this way too. |
Philinho:Objective with which government? Is Dino not part of the Federal Government? What people-oriented bills have they pushed to the president? Instead, they were busy fighting for pension for Senate president and immunity for themselves. In spite of the recession, they would not review their huge earnings. |
madridsta007:They had a warrant. The police have said this countless times. When Dino continued to ignore their invitation, they got a warrant and came to his house but he refused to let them in, lying that he was not at home. Respected lawyers like Falana had earlier advised Dino to surrender. Evidently, the police had a warrant. |
madridsta007:You people reading meanings to every arrest are the problem of this country. Should we be wondering about the motive for the arrest or whether Dino is guilty? If not that people have become blinded by their party affiliations, why should they be more concerned about motive than how the accused pleads. It shouldn't matter to you whether Dino is arrested on election day. What should matter to you is whether he is guilty or not. Buhari arrests this person, you all shout that Buhari arrested him because the person is PDP. You call it witch hunting. Shouldn't it matter more to you that at least one corrupt person has been arrested? Even if Buhari is witch hunting, is he witch hunting innocent politicians? For me, the motive does not matter. Whether a politician is arrested for electoral reasons does not concern me. What concerns me is whether he is guilty or not. If he is guilty, I'm happy. This is how Nigerians should think. Party politics is killing Nigerians. Even Saraki, whose family impoverished Kwara state, is a god to some people simply because he appears to dislike Buhari who they love to hate. |
alsudan:He was treated civilly enough. If it were an American police department, they would have broken down his door since and dragged him out. You expect the police to be nice to someone who has been resisting police entry for days. A lawbreaker was captured and you are complaining. What do you want? |
nairaman66:If we were under an authoritarian government, you won't have been allowed to make this post. The same Dino you appear to be sympathizing with, was one of the advocates for the move to place restrictions on information. Somehow, the rumor got out that it was Buhari that wants to muzzle freedom of speech, when in fact, it was Dino and his ilks. If you hate Buhari, it is all fine. But to think that an arrest on a Nigerian senator is an act of authoritarianism is just unbelievable coming from a Nigerian. Dino is not the only politician who has been invited by the police or EFCC. People like FFK keep on attacking Buhari as though they are paid billions to do so, but they have not been noticed. You think an authoritarian government will allow an FFK or a Fayose to be running their mouths anyhow? |
shachris02:Another pathetically lazy youth. Do I have to spoonfeed you? Anyway, open this link: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2017/02/trump-is-violating-the-court-orders-against-his-muslim-ban.html |
shachris02:This is an open information. You are free to search yourself, including how Trump views a certain ban. |
shachris02:Donald Trump and Andrew Jackson, both of the United States, did. |
tuniski:There are people in your line of business who are benefiting immensely from this government. |
This is an opportunity for him to make money. |
hipswrites:Umm, tell us more about him... |
jconsulting:More like: Shehu Shagari University of Technology, Akure (SSUTA) |
aadoiza:You people should endeavor to always read the news/posts very well. Afe Babalola gave a piece of advice to the FG. It is not the FG making the move. This is how you make up stories against the president and some ignorant people will come across it and spread it wider till it becomes popular. |
7figuresalary:What does this have to do with Buhari? You people can't read. You read a piece of news and start spreading rumors against the president. |
If they like, they can rename it after Adolf Hitler. But please, no one should ever suggest renaming my beloved University of Ibadan. |
tuniski:They are propaganda to you. But for a data analyst like me who travels a lot, I depend on more than news and rumors to gather data. |
