promisedeco:How did you know that he is a man of God? |
Awol1:Supposing Sanusi lied, how come the government did not sue him? They only sacked him, which shows that they only punished him for his lack of loyalty, and not because he lied. How can someone lie, and no investigations were carried out to exonerate the government? At that time, was Sanusi more powerful than the government, or was he above the law that he could not be made to account for his false accusation? It is either GEJ was truly a weakling or Sanusi was telling the truth. And I am inclined to believe the latter because it is more sensible. |
wingmanIII:What contribution? How does Covenant University contribute to our economy when it is not taxed? The university is not even affordable, and in a country with over 80 million extremely poor people, that is a big waste for a university that is not taxed. Moreover, I thought you all claim that Covenant University belongs to the church, in which case, the founder of Covenant University should be Living Faith Church. I remembered when they wanted to establish Covenant University, and they were collecting donations from branch to branch, and telling people, "It is your university". How many of those who contributed by carrying basins of cement can afford the school? Same with the jet. One Winners Chapel member was telling me during an argument that the jet belongs to all Winners members. I was like, "If dem born you well, go near the jet, na then you go know sey Oyedepo no be your real papa". Living Faith is Oyedepo's business empire. |
Cityguy:What tax does Oyedepo pay? The man is a shrewd businessman, and has already claimed that he doesn't work. Their businesses are also not taxed. So, going by your logic, since he does not pay tax, he has no rights to demand good governance. |
Nwogeh:What private capacity? What does he do for a living? His church enjoys tax exempt, and I am sure many of its personal services may be dubiously classified as humanitarian services to enjoy privileges of the Company Income Tax Act. For instance, his jet could be registered as a vehicle for conducting humanitarian services. But we all know how Buhari has dealt with him in that regard and forced him to commercialize the jets. |
DEmejioba1:Exactly. Some people here call MannaBBQ a zombie whenever he defends Buhari relentlessly. But they don't see anything bad in defending Oyedepo relentlessly when he goofs. How are they not zombies too? |
Felixamos:If Oyedepo meant well, why did we not hear him criticize PDP throughout their 16 years in power? Even when Boko Haram were bombing churches, markets, and slaughtering boys in their dorms, why didn't Oyedepo ever criticize GEJ? He didn't because he is a PDP apologist. He hated Buhari because he knew that with Buhari, the unfair privileges he enjoyed would end. When you want to speak the truth, speak it without caring about whose ox is gored. He couldn't speak the truth against GEJ, but wants to against Buhari. Soyinka has criticized nearly all the administrations we have had. Buhari's first tenure (Soyinka criticized) IBB (Soyinka criticized) Abacha (Soyinka criticized, even got a death sentence in absentia) Obasanjo's 8 years (Soyinka was an active critic even though he and Obasanjo come from the same state). Yar'Adua (Soyinka warned that Obasanjo was planning to foist a sick man on Nigeria) Goodluck Jonathan (Soyinka criticized) Buhari (Soyinka criticizes) But Oyedepo. Obasanjo's 8 years (Oyedepo was quiet) GEJ's 5 years (Oyedepo was quiet. Curses Boko Haram, but has nothing critical to say about GEJ) Buhari's first year up till date (Oyedepo has suddenly become an activist). Activist, my foot!!! |
Antivirus92:This is another problem I have with you people. Why not just do a simple search on how many Fulani herdsmen have been arrested. You will be disappointed because many Fulani herdsmen have been arrested, and some convicted. You said Boko Haram is sacking villages. Have you forgotten that a time, Boko Haram was bombing bus stations, and central markets? They were taking territories and hoisting their flags. Why don't they do it again? Only a mischievous person will say that there is no remarkable improvement in the fight against terrorism. Did you know that as at 2012-2013, many people could not hold services in their churches, even in the relatively peaceful Zaria in the fear of being bombed? But today, churches have continued to hold services. |
Kundagarten:Ovonramwen Nogbaisi was removed by the British. And in this modern world, if Oba of Benin does more than himself, he would be removed without any waste of time. |
Fragility6:You think all inmates are criminals? Many of them are awaiting trials. Many of these people may be innocent. Some of them may stay there 15 years without appearing before a judge. See, just always pray never to get into trouble that you neither know the head nor tail. When those beggars pray for you that "Akoba, Adaba, oloun ma je a ri" just always say a loud amen. A person may be driving his car jejely, and a small boy will just run into his path, and gbosa, and before he knows it, trouble has started for him. He finds himself in a police cell. He may be there 15 years, and family and friends will be busy bribing this person or that to facilitate his trial. |
Antivirus92:I criticized GEJ based on what I saw. So, rather than say that GEJ didn't care, I always wrote that he wasn't doing enough. But to come out and say Buhari does not care about the killings going on in the country is terrible. How can there be a president who would not care that insecurity is a serious challenge under him? Yes, a leader may be incompetent, may not be doing much, but it is too much to think a man will sit comfortably in the presidential villa, and not care about insecurity. |
Reference:You are the one who has no idea what democracy means. Democracy does not mean a weak central government that does whatever pressure groups asks of it. When you say Americans wanted their troops out of Afghanistan, what do you mean by Americans ![]() Did you mean about a hundred random American posts on Facebook or Twitter? Or did you mean Americans through their representatives in Congress? I need you to be specific. I am taking it that you either mean a petition with over 10,000 signatures or Americans through Congress. Please, how many of you Nigerians are that well informed about politics? Or you think that by being overly critical of the government without even making viable suggestions, the government is bound to listen? Take for instance, an example of mine: The border has been closed. Americans: This might cause a meltdown, let us sign a petition to revoke this. What we need is more investments in local goods, not shutting down foreign markets [/b] Nearly everyone takes the exercise seriously. Nigerians: Walahi, this Buhari administration na wa o. Buhari na bastard, i swear. Everyone is on social media, abusing the government the best they can. The trolls have a fields day. In the end, nothing gets to the NASS in terms of formality, nothing gets to Buhari. |
nickxtra:How is he a prophet? Tell me one prophesy that he made that has come to pass? Even his curses have proven to be powerless. God has and still continues to show you people that these men are fraud by exposing them through their ambiguous prophesies. |
Urchman200:He has been playing politics, not tackling the issues. During Goodluck Jonathan's administration, Boko Haram was at the peak of its powers. They were so brazen that they were taking territories and putting their flags everywhere on Nigerian soil. Please, did Oyedepo ever criticize that administration? He didn't. Rather, he was cursing Boko Haram and refusing to even criticize GEJ. There was hardly a month that went by that we didn't hear about bombings. Schoolboys were slaughtered in their dorms, Chibok girls were kidnapped, and yet not once did Oyedepo even remotely criticize GEJ. As at 2014, Nigeria was already slipping into a recession. Yet, in 2015, dollars were being thrown away to seek reelection for a man that the Economist had brazenly called an ineffectual buffoon Oyedepo did not care about this. He was busy campaigning for GEJ. Only misguided fools think Oyedepo means well for this country. He is just a politician guiding his own interest. How come he suddenly became an advocate against bad government when Buhari won in 2015. Was there no evidence of bad governance under GEJ? Yet, this man was quiet when he should have criticized the government. He has a right to be partisan, at least under the law. But his followers should stop painting him as a good man. He is a PDP apologist. He has never liked Buhari, and obviously will not. And I am sure Buhari knows this, and couldn't care less. Oyedepo is only respected by his followers. But any man who is not gullible will know that Oyedepo is nothing but a businessman, and as a thorough businessman, he is only out there to make profit and enjoy privileges. |
Herrymax:One thing I have come to know in life is that it is very easy to criticize based on face value alone. Maybe if you spend less than an hour with the president, you might come to appreciate him. All of you criticizing based on what you fail to see might be totally wrong. |
nuban07:She was arrested because she is a suspect in the murder of a human being. You expect the police to just let her go because she said she stabbed the man for attempting to rape her? No, life doesn't work like that, let alone the law. Investigations would be conducted to see if she is saying the truth about the man attempting to rape her. Supposing the man had attempted to rape her, and she was able to escape, only to grab a knife and stab the man, then it would no longer be self-defence, and she would be charged with at least manslaughter. Who knows? Maybe this crime was intentional. Supposing he had raped her, and then she came back to his house to stab him to death in vengeance, that would be murder. So, you can't just jump into conclusion based solely on the words of the suspect. She could be lying, she could be telling half-truths. |
Lifestone:Every fighter hopes that his opponent makes the mistake of bending to their style. For instance, Joshua expected Ruiz to be on the back foot in their first fight because it suits Joshua well to come forward when his opponents are defensive. But Ruiz came forward, and thus refused to bend to Joshua's style therefore making the fight difficult for Joshua. It is foolishness to you but it would have been wisdom had Adesanya made the mistake of throwing a reckless kick or punch (he did one or two and got punished), and running into a punch or kick that knocks him out cold. Just like you said, every fight has its own strategy and plan. So, why are you rubbishing Romero's strategy? Moreover, pre-fight, Romero had said that he was going to capitalize on mistakes, and not necessarily to fight dirty. |
judedwriter:There is no spirit of Goliath anywhere. He is long dead and gone. |
isthatso:You are emotional, but the law is not. If everyone is arrested based on what they say on social media, our prisons will be overfull. |
Dizzyrascal:But you didn't look at the EPL records where Henry effortlessly trumps Drogba. You people are just focusing on cup finals. |
backnbeta:Don't mind those police. They are supposed to enforce the law, but how many of them even know the law that they are supposed to enforce? |
isthatso:Crossdressing is not the same as homosexuality. |
RagaMufeen:And I am sure you consider yourself educated. So, you didn't see that the bill proposes to clarify academic qualifications, and not to raise academic qualifications. Also, you must know that Buhari is very educated. He has more than a diploma. |
nedekid:Point it out now. Where are the grounds? |
nedekid:Then, why did you quote that particular post of mine? Anyway, from the attached paragraphs, there is no ground for prosecution. |
nedekid:Even in Nigeria, this can get him blacklisted by all the industries in the labor market. With this bad publicity, he will surely lose his current job. But does that make what he did a criminal offense? Of course, not. So, try and read very well next time before commenting so that you don't go about misunderstanding very simple arguments. |
valenu:They are all the same. What you have just watched is what they call politics It is what obtains everywhere in the world. Even in America, the Democrats and Republicans are always at loggerheads not necessarily because they give a damn about the average American but because they just can't bring themselves to support one another for the good of all. |
sirabu:How can they charge him for soliciting and enticement based on that sentence alone? How can you establish an intent in that sentence? First, he was not even in direct conversation with Freeze (as in, it was not even a Direct Message). He was not even in direct conversation with the son who would now be regarded as the victim. Second, it was a one-off sentence that offered nothing in terms of money or question that opens Freeze up for a deal. Third, he didn't pursue the issue further by discussing terms. Law court judgment are based on intents. If I say I will kill you, I have made a threat, but not committed a crime. But, if I have a knife, and I say I will kill you, I may be charged with criminal threat. That is how the law works. |
DexterousOne:This is a moral issue. Shaking him up is another way of infringing on his right of expression. |
crafteck:Many Nigerians are emotional. They don't know that the law is not emotional. The law deals with facts. That man has not committed any crime under any law. Children are sexualized everywhere in the world, even by their own parents. It doesn't become a crime simply because someone says a minor will be sweet in bed. I am still wondering how the charge sheet will read. The police are really going to make a mockery of themselves if they take this to court. The judge will just throw it out before they can say Jack, and punish them for wasting everyone's time. |
I don't see how this is a criminal offense. For one thing, this falls more under a portion of what constitutes child pornography. That portion that involves written pieces advocating sex with minors is not criminal, but a moral issue. Sexualization of children is not a crime in any country that I know of. The police is not wrong in making the arrest, but they will simply waste their time if they try to take it to court. |
appliedscience:Don't mind them. Men are in serious problem not because of women, but because of fellow men who support women against men in all matters. The other day, a man was trying to justify Sanda's crime in killing her husband. This same man would attack his fellow man for slapping a woman. Which is more brutal? A man slapping a woman or a woman killing a man? May God help men overcome this injustice. |
