federal9:Stayed blessed, bro. |
Olatara:Yes, he was the one who wrote "The Drummer Boy". |
davodyguy:I think depends on sets of years. I think WAEC Literature syllabi for prescribed books were always changed every 4 years. I know that JAMB used to change theirs every 3 years. I think it has been long that any Cyprian Ekwensi's books featured in the syllabus of an examinations board. The last time I was in Ibadan, I tried getting some of his books from the university library, but couldn't. His books are becoming very scarce just like many of Soyinka's books. |
garfield1:That man na GOAT for African modern novels. ![]() I don't think any novelist can take his place in my heart. |
garfield1:I am telling you. Cyprian Ekwensi was/is underrated. Writers like that come to the world only once in a while. |
victorian:Why are you blaming only the guys? I have heard stories that it is even the girls who pressurize their guys into having sex without condoms. I want to believe that men (especially the unemployed ones) fear unwanted pregnancy even more than the girls. Have you not heard the joke of how the girls would sometimes wrap their legs around the guy and thereby forcing him to ejaculate inside them? The question should be: "Why do girls not like condoms?" And why do they always feel like they know their safest periods. They tell their boyfriends, "Don't worry, I am safe. I will take care of everything" Then they force the poor boy to go raw with dire consequences. To the guys in the house, never trust a woman when she tells you that she is in her safe period. Many of them don't even keep an ovulation chart. There is a chance (however small) of getting a girl pregnant whenever you have unprotected sex with her, even if she keeps an ovulation chart. If you are not ready to be Baba Johnbull, it is either you zip up or you play safe. |

Nodogragra4me:Why did God give these people to the Church? toward the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12) They were given to the Church to perfect it, make it self-sufficient for the work of ministry. If you were a teacher, how would you feel if the student you teach refuse to become self-sufficient and independent of you? Won't you feel that you have failed in your responsibility as a teacher? But, your pastors don't care? Who even called them in the first place? The Bible said the foundation had already been laid by Christ Himself. There is the Bible which is readily available, and there is the Holy Spirit: As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him. (1 John 2:27) What else do you need to become self-sufficient in such a straightforward gospel? You think you people were called to live all your whole life listening to people who claimed to have be called specially? Everyone has been called. It is not out of place to take some lessons to prepare yourselves, but taking the same lessons over and over again shows a failure. You don't need everlasting teachers who will teach you every Sunday and then blackmail you into parting with your money. That is not the essence of a Church. |
femi4:You obviously read this in my post, so why write that I am wrong? Didn't you see encouragement in the very post that you quoted? he Sunday service doesnt start and ends with Pastor preaching.Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you. (1 Corinthians 14:26) That is a conversational gathering, an active Church. |
Koginaija:The Early Christians gathered mostly in one another's homes. There were also gatherings in public places but this became less common as the persecution of Christians got intense. And mind you, when the Christians were advised by Paul not to forsake the gathering of the brethren, he said it in the form of advice, and not a law. And there were reasons why he said it. First of all, the Church was still young and needed constant gathering to build it up. If everyone continued to do his own thing by himself, the Church will die. Second, the Apostles thought that Jesus Christ was coming back in their lifetime, so they decided to stay ever watchful so as not to be caught flat-footed. And moreover, the purpose of the gathering was not for you to go and sit down and listen to a pastor. It was supposed to be conversational. This means that everyone was supposed to contribute their gifts to the building up of the church. The verse says we are to encourage one another. Which means, everyone in the church should be active. It is not only the pastors that should be edifying, while the rest of the church members sit down like zombies with their gifts wasting away. If you want to understand the meaning of conversational, visit a mosque, especially in the evening, and you might find men reasoning among themselves. |
Happiestman1:He asked a honest question. Before I knew that this Jowi guy inherited a large wealth, I always thought he was into shady businesses. |
Teymanhenry:God does not live in houses made of stones. He lives in your heart. The safest place you can ever be is in the presence of the Lord, and you can find the Lord even in your homes. |
Stay at home and pray. Church attendance cannot save you from a viral infection. Only Christ can. And the good thing is that there is nowhere you cannot find Christ. You can find him in your homes. |
Amberon11:It is not a sin if sperm is needed for medical purposes. Tell me, how else do you get your sperm if you are not married? Please, the Bible is not against common sense. It is like those fanatical Christians who are totally against abortion. They forget that there are instances where a pregnancy needs to be terminated to save the mother's life and/or preserve her health. It is a sin to tell a lie, but there are instances where lying might be necessary to save someone's life. Imagine a doctor who hears that his hypertensive patient had just lost his wife. The patient is barely stable and breaking the news or withholding information might make the man go into a devastating shock. You don't need the Bible to tell you what to do. God has given you brains for those types of situations. When Abram told a lie concerning Sarah, he did so to preserve his own life. Nowhere did the Bible condemn that lie. |
internationalman:Only God knows this, though. She may have remained unmarried, but not necessarily without sexual intercourse. |
VirginSearcher:There is nothing special about him nor is there any extraordinary thing he has done since he came on board. Just tone down the asslicking. |
With all those assets, why was there the need to bleach ![]() |
NaijaMutant:This is the riskiest prophesy he has made in his career. The other risky one he made about the United States presidential election failed. However, I must commend his courage. His contemporaries prefer to play safe at all times by dishing out ambiguous prophesies every New Year day. |
Emperor2463:Nowhere in the original story was this even implicitly stated. Even the people who had first-hand experience of the issue said they were not sure what informed the decision of the Chinese owners not to provide full services to non-Chinese persons. I am not saying Chinese are not capable of racist behaviours, but this story did not state that those Nigerians were denied based on their race. |
punisha:Who told you that it was the FG that gave them Mopol for security? Was it also FG that gave Jim Iyke Mopol ![]() |
Egbere TV thought that by spreading the news that their boss had died, people will attack Buhari and accuse him of intolerance. But alas, no one even gave a damn about the news. They had to quickly come out to pretend to debunk what they now want us to believe to be malicious content. |
justtee42k:Well, my mom was a good lawyer, and then, a fair judge. There is nothing to be afraid of in the court. Yes, lawyers may charge exorbitant fees, but there are human rights lawyers who will take up a poor man's case for free if it has merits. Another problem is that when we go to court, we don't go with enough evidence. Emotions don't win cases in court. If you are being mistreated by your landlord, you should save all these evidences. You should get a diary, for instance, and document these incidents. This are the things that favor your case. But I have seen people lose in court and then blame the judge for being partial, instead of blaming themselves or their lawyers for not tidying up the case well. Look at the case of Atiku Abubakar. His case was so watery and was sure to be easily crushed, but instead of blaming his lawyers, he was busy blaming the executive. Judges are human beings, not God. It is how you present your case with the attached verifiable and verified evidences that makes them gravitate towards you. This is not to say that the judiciary is incorruptible. But only people who had strong cases and still lost should be criticizing. Those who went to court with watery cases should not be blaming their losses on the judges. |
Wiseandtrue:It is everywhere in Nigeria, my sister, not just among the rich. At least, in the case of Sanusi, he is a very brilliant man, and would merit any position given to him that involves politics and economics. What about people who favor their friends even when they don't merit it? Someone handed state power assets to friends who knew nothing about electricity. |
Karac:I used that as a way to tell you that the disease is not sexually transmitted. You can get it through contact, but not through sex. If a person gets it after having sex with a prostitute, it is not through the sexual intercourse that it was contracted. The virus is only found in fluids like saliva and mucus, and not in semens or vaginal discharge. That is why you can contract it through kissing or hugging where there is a chance of respiratory droplets getting into you through your eyes, nose or mouth. |
Karac:You people like arguing blindly sha. Do you know what it means for a disease to be sexually transmitted? Coronavirus is a respiratory disease. If you cover your eyes, nose and mouth, you can have sex with someone who has it without contracting it. |
worworbabe:Every living thing glorifies God in their own way. Even vultures when they circle dead animals. We can see the beauty of God in biological diversity, phenotypic variations, and even in behavioral differences. But you people don't see these things until a bird circles a sacred place. That is when you start reading signs into a purely natural behavior of a species. Those birds are just doing their own thing. Some of them may be looking for potential mates, and if they find, they may even mate on the Kaaba. |
worworbabe:Birds circle objects all the time. They circle prey, they circle dead bodies, they circle buildings. They do this for many reasons which are perfectly normal. For instance, at sunset (as is evident in that video), birds can circle to raise their body temperature in preparation for roosting. Religion is not against knowledge but it has the capacity to cripple knowledge. |
Religion is worse than any pandemic. SMH... |
philip0906:I don't know what to make of the sensationalism. This virus is not anywhere as deadly as the Lassa virus, let alone the ebolavirus. And yet they are making it seem like it has come to put an end to the world as we know it. |
