onojiwizardgmailcom: The New Covenant (or New Testament) is the promise that God makes with humanity that He will forgive sin and restore fellowship with those whose hearts are turned toward Him. Jesus Christ is the mediator of the New Covenant, and His death on the cross is the basis of the promise (Luke 22:20 ). The New Covenant was predicted in the Old testament by prophets Moses, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.
The prophet Jeremiah predicted the New Covenant. “‘The day will come,’ says the Lord, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. . . . But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,’ says the Lord. ‘I will put my law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people’” ( Jeremiah 31:31 , 33). Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Law of Moses (Matthew 5:17 ) and to establish the New Covenant between God and His people. The Old Covenant was written in stone, but the New Covenant is written on our hearts. Entering the New Covenant is made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His blood to take away the sins of the world ( John 1:29 ).
'I will put the law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts.' does this mean the new covenant abolish the law? Bro, you indeed read your Bible but you don't come across as someone who asks the Holy Spirit for guidance. The New Covenant is not an upgrading of the Old one: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34) That is the New Command. The Old Law was not profitable because it ministered condemnation: For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Cor 3:6) The Old Law was bondage. Jesus came to liberate us from it: But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it – not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it – they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:25) The Old Law was written on stones, but the New Love which, no matter how you look at it, is LOVE, is written in our hearts: God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Rom 5:5) Any wonder why Paul used "being under the Law" in a way that suggests bondage? For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. (2 Corinthians 1:20) All the promises of a New Covenant found a Yes (a solid fulfillment) in Christ Jesus. What else remains. His death was to free US from the bondage of the Law. Now, we are not to love because the Law demands it. But now, God Himself comes to us and fills us with His perfect love. |

onojiwizardgmailcom: (a) For Christ is the end of the law (b) for righteousness to every one that believeth. (Romans 10:4)KJV (a) Paul was just restating what Christ said in Mathew where he said he came to fulfil the law, which I already told you that Christ was talking about his second coming. (b) Paul is talking about what i stated in my first post, that believing (faith) in God (Christ) bore the Holy Spirit in you, which leads to the fulfilment of the law in you. I understand the fear of many Christian about the law, it is I believe that the law requires perfection as stated by James in the book of James. the mercy and grace of God is sufficient for us all, but shall we continue to sin so that grace might abide, no God forbid. this is Paul's statement long after Christ has gone to heaven, sin only exist where there is law. this sims like a contradiction right, there is no contradiction your salvation is by faith but this is a process which I have already explained in my first post. read Gal. 15:13-16
You were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' 15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care lest you be consumed by one another. 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Hence the Spirit of God in you through faith in God helps you overcome sin or flesh (fulfill the law). I won't hold you on this because I don't even understand what you wrote. My question is "Is the Law still to be kept?" |

onojiwizardgmailcom: Jesus’ statement in Matthew 5:18 makes it even clearer that He did not come to destroy or nullify the law: “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” Here, Jesus compared the continuance of the law to the permanence of heaven and earth. He is saying that God’s spiritual laws are immutable and indestructible. When He said till all is fulfilled He Christ was talking of His second coming end of all things. In Matthew 5:18. Jesus here explains that until God’s plan to glorify humanity in His Kingdom is completely accomplished, that is, as long as there are still fleshly human beings, the physical codification of God’s law in Scripture is necessary and is as certain to endure as the continued existence of the universe. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. (Romans 10:4) |

onojiwizardgmailcom: the law is still valid, for Christ said he did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. The reason why I believe most Christians think the law died with Christ death is because of what I call the misinterpretation of Paul teaching where he said "we are justified by faith and not by law". This is what I believe Paul was saying when he said you are justified by faith 1. Faith in God draws you closer to God as it increase your love for God. 2. As your faith in God grows the Spirit of God is born in you by virtue of your steadfast love for God. 3. Sin dies and become alien to you when your love for God becomes grounded and strong. basically the law becomes fulfilled in you. Remember Paul said shall we continue to sin so that grace will abide, he then said God forbid he said this long after Christ death so the law is still valid in a Christians life. what encompass all laws is what Jesus said when he said love your neighbour as your self (though this also does not mean then end of law). 1. You shall have no other God before me. if you Love God you will have know other but him
2. You shall not make any graven images. if Love God you will make no image and bow to it as god to you
3. You shall not use the Lord's Name in vain. if you Love God you will not use his name in vain
4. Remember to keep Sabbath day holy. if you Love God you will keep his sabbath holy
5. Honour your father and mother. if you Love your Parents you will honour them
6. You shall not commit murder. if you Love your neighbour as your self you will not do this
7. You shall not commit adultery. if you Love your neighbour as your self you will not sleep with his wife or her husband
8. You shall not steal. if you Love your neighbour as your self you will not steal his property
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour. if you Love your neighbour as your self you will not do this
10. You shall not covet if you Love your neighbour as your self you will not do this therefore the Spirit of God in you born of your grounded and deep rooted FAITH and LOVE for the Almighty God helps you fulfill the law. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. (Galatians 5:3) |

He only came to fulfil it. And yes, He did fulfil it. And remember that He said nothing will change about the Law until He fulfills it. Now, Jesus Himself said He has come to fulfil the Law. He Himself said the Law would remain as it is until He had fulfilled it. Now, that you insist that the Law is still valid, are you trying to say that Jesus failed to fulfil it. |

But how many people that pay tithes really understand what it means to give? Some people will bypass needy persons to give tithes in the church. Some people have widows as neighbours. They never bother to reach out to these people. In all, tithes emphasize giving to receive, which is a horrible reason to give. That is why we have politicians stealing billions that they should use to better the lots of the masses and give them as tithes and gifts to pastors. True giving emphasizes giving out of love, without compulsion. James 1:27 tells us about the truest religion. Why is that not what should be more emphasized. |

Nodogragra4me: You stated that Jesus performed the miracle of feeding 5,000 men because there was no enough money to feed them and I want to know where you got that impression from because from the scripture, in all his conversation with the disciples on the issue before the miracle lack of money never arose
Here is the account of Jesus conversation with his disciples concerning feeding the multitude from different versions of the Bible
Luke 9:10-17New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
From Verse: 12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.”
13 He replied, “You give them something to eat.”
They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14 (About five thousand men were there.)
“When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.” John 6:5-6 KJVA http://bible.us/546/jhn.6.5-6.kjva
But Jesus said to them, "You yourselves give them something to eat." They answered, "All we have are five loaves and two fish. Do you want us to go and buy food for this whole crowd?" ...Goodnews study Bible
Jesus didn't ask his disciples if there was enough money but where to buy food even though he himself knew what he would do. Perhaps, I was not plain enough but then, you have to show where in my posts I wrote that Jesus asked if there was enough money. There was a moneybag which Judas carried and Mark was explicit about how long it would take to work to feed the 5000, so commonsense should tell anyone that there was not enough money in the moneybag to feed that much people. Secondly, Jesus said "feed them". Does that not support my view that the flock should be fed? |

After teaching the 5000, there was not even enough money in their moneybag to buy substantial amount of food. Hence why Jesus performed the miracle. It was the same during the feeding of the 4000. Also in the same Bible, Jesus was talked of Himself as having nowhere to lay His head. |
