Crime › Kano Court Rejects Singer’s Blasphemy Appeal, Says Sharia Law Is Constitutional by BluntCrazeMan(op): 3:25am On Aug 20, 2022
For those that would continue to say that Nigeria is a Secular Country.... And also,, for those that would continue to say that Sharia Law is equivalent to the Customary Laws that are applicable by the Constitution in other regions of the country.

KANO COURT REJECTS SINGER’S BLASPHEMY APPEAL, SAYS SHARIA LAW IS CONSTITUTIONAL

A federal court in Kano has dismissed an appeal by a singer battling a religious ruling that he should be sentenced to death over blasphemy.

This is the first time that a federal court in Nigeria rules on whether or not Islamic sharia law is consistent with the secular country’s constitution.

Northern states in Nigeria have sharia courts that operate alongside common law.

The case goes back to August 2020 when a sharia court in Kano ordered singer Yahaya Aminu Sharif’s death by hanging for expressions considered derogatory against the Prophet Mohammed.

The singer appealed his conviction.

In January 2021, the Kano state high court quashed the death sentence but ordered a retrial before the Kano state upper sharia court.

Sharif’s lawyers appealed that verdict, arguing he should not be retried by another religious court.

But on Wednesday, the federal court in Kano dismissed that appeal.

“Sharia law is constitutional… The attempt by the appellants to prove the illegality of sharia law is therefore unfounded,” said judge Abubakar Mu’azu Lamido, in a 17-minute judgement read via Zoom.

“The appeal lacks merit, and the case is hereby dismissed.”

Two out of three judges backed the order for a retrial at the religious court, but the third dissented.

Sharif’s lawyer, Kola Alapinni, said the singer would appeal that ruling at the supreme court.

“It’s safe to say that we will go to the supreme court,” Alapinni told AFP.

The singer was accused of insulting the prophet in a song he shared online, which caused riots in the city.

Mobs burnt his family home and took to the streets demanding prosecution, leading to his arrest.

Sharif belongs to a branch of the Tijaniyya Sufi order, whose beliefs are considered heretical by some because of their interpretation of some basic Islamic principles.

Sharif’s conviction is the second death sentence to be handed down for blasphemy since a stricter version of sharia law was introduced in the early 2000s.

A Kano sharia court sentenced Abdul Nyass, a Sufi Muslim cleric, to death in 2015 for making blasphemous statements against the prophet.

Sharif and Nyass belong to the same branch of the Tijaniyya Sufi order.

Igbos and their ITK politics. Soludo is aiming presidency after his tenure, and a P.O presidency will impede that.
It's the same with Umahi, Ikekweremadu and the rest of them with their illusions about becoming president.

So instead of supporting the best chance to produce a capable president, they'll rather support someone else just to keep the illusion of the igbo presidency going.

I See..!!
The game-plan is clearer now.

Today after my engagement with the YESS family, I received in audience my brother and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, in a private meeting at the Governor's lodge, Amawbia.

Mr. Obi is one of the two illustrious Sons of our dear State gunning to be the President of Nigeria. The other is Justice Peter Umeadi of our great Party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

As the Governor of these great Sons of the State, I am proud of this moment in history, and wish them the best of luck.

But please, this visit of Peter Obi to the Governor's Lodge was all about Peter Obi.
[i]WHY WOULD YOU MENTION ANOTHER CANDIDATE ENTIRELY INTO THE VISIT OF PETER OBI.??
Why chasing unnecessary clout for Umeadi.?
Why not wait for Umeadi to visit before telling us about his Candidacy?
..
Ok, should Umeadi visit you any moment in the future,, are you going to remind us about Peter Obi.??

That's really too PETTY and Over-assuming of you.

Family › Re: Am I Responsible For The Pregnancy Or It Is A Setup? by BluntCrazeMan: 2:01am On Aug 20, 2022
JudgeNotHi:
I need help. Could she be saying the truth or she's trying to hook.

I'm in a very stable relationship and as a matter fact, I'll be getting married to the love of my world, the one whom my heart continuously long for daily in next month.

Nevertheless, there's this lady whom happened to be an old friend for about 2 years now. We've been very close chat buddies and virtually could discuss anything online to each other (I mean anything). On one occasion, she suggested we meet up at my place to watch a movie Twilight together. Well, since I wasn't doing anything in particular for the weekend and my fiance wasn't in town, why not? (Trust me, my intents was pure and genuine).

The Saturday came, and we did have a lovely time together until the devil struck. One thing led to another and we both ended up kissing and eventually had sex. I wasn't careless not to have not used a protection but I could remember the condom coming off at a Point and was quickly replaced with another new one. Trust me guyz, we both felt bad immediately after the incident and both apologized to one another and that was it.

Fast forward to the present, I got a call from her for the first time after that incident (I had to cut off all communication with her after what happened) and she broke the news to me that she was feeling a little different which prompted her to go do a test, and to my greatest shock, she said it came out positive, SHE IS PREGNANT!!!

How is this even possible? We made our precisely on the 30th of July and the test results shows she's about 2weeks pregnant (Note: the test results shows it was carried out on the 12th of August. Moreover, I never even released when the condom came off into her and we had to remove it. How is it possible?

Now, the mother called and even asked to see me in person that, the daughter already explained all that ensued between us, and I should come and let's discuss our next move, that no daughter of hers gives birth outside wedlock.

In all these, I am so confused. The honest truth is, I never told the lady in particular I was getting married in the month of September. My wife to be does know her as just a friend and that's all but kept my wedding plans away from the lady despite how opened we were to each other.

Nairalanders, I am so confused. I have cried, begged her, pleaded with her to come clean with me, but she insists I was the only one she meet within that time frame. Even in the presence of her mother, she kept asking her, are you sure? She kept insisting I was the only one she had sex with last month.

My world is presently on pause mode as I don't know what to thing anymore. But I am 99.9% sure I am not responsible for the pregnancy. I even requested she used my hospital for a second test and it still came out positive.

I am currently, planning on telling my wife to be the whole truth and before then, involve our counselling pastor. I can't bring myself to tell my family despite the fact her mother keep insisting she comes to see my mother.

My inner most being tells me I am been set up, because I remember vividly on that night, she kept insisting I remove the condom that it was hurting her but I insisted.

Could the pregnancy be truly mine? Do I come clean to my babe? Do I just runaway? So many questions and I am deeply depressed and sad on how I got myself into the terrible mess. At this moment, I deserve whatever insults is thrown at me. I truly deserve them, BUT I NEVER FOR ONCE DOUBT my love for my wife to be, I truly love her...
Last Month??
So,, before last month nkọ??
She is a hoe..
.
Meanwhile,, forget about the marriage with the love of your life. (At least for now)
She will get to know about this, and she won't be happy with you.
..
But for you to treat this matter, things has to get messy.
The bad guy you truly are will definitely have to come out.
If not, “they” will heap the nonsense girl into your life.
..
By “They”, I mean, both your people and her people.

Politics › Kenya’s President-elect Gives Out Daughter To Nigerian Lecturer: Dr. Ezenagu by BluntCrazeMan(op): 1:45pm On Aug 17, 2022
Kenya’s Deputy President and president-elect, William Ruto’s daughter, June Ruto, was on Saturday, engaged to Nigeria’s Dr. Alexander Ezenagu.

The engagement event was held in Nairobi and attended by top political leaders and respected persons in the society.

A delegation from Nigeria was led by former Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka who oversaw the bride price settlement.

The groom, Dr. Ezenagu is an Assistant Professor in the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar.

He is a trade and international tax law expert who has specialised in international tax law, domestic taxes, tax avoidance, and commercial aspects of illicit financial flows, trade, and investment advisory.

He has a PhD in international tax law from McGill University, Canada.

In addition, he is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where he obtained an LL.M. in Commercial Law.

He also has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Dr. Ezenagu has built a reputation of supporting countries in developing effective fiscal regimes.

He has worked with governments to introduce fiscal reforms.

He is currently designing a course on developmental governance, which focuses on influences on the developmental models adopted by developing countries.

The catchy part is that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) follows him on Twitter, something which Kenyans said they want to learn more about tax.

A country where positions and favours are merited in good faith

A country where nepotism and favouritism is totally absent.

A country where the necessary data of the citizens are well kept by the government, and being put into active positive usage for the general good of the people, (an not only for the good of the few political elites)

A country where it is almost impossible to spend money whose sources and the procedures for its acquisition are not known

A country where engaging and contacting the police is so quick and very easy., And can be done REMOTELY, at ZERO COST..

A country where the “police response” is quick and automatic.

A country where the police and military, the security personnels, and all the uniformed personnels treat citizens with utmost respect and priority; and not with intimidation and unwarranted extortions.

A country where the judiciary is highly independent and doesn't work for money and/or kickbacks; but solely and purely for justice, truth, and fairness.

A country where workers at every level work for the happiness that goes with the work they are doing.

A country where the government is the Link between the rich and the poor,, and not where the government joins the rich and abandons the poor.

A country where the government is so easily accessible and available to everyone.

A country where the government constantly release all the necessary data and information to the public at the appropriate periods and/or durations, without being asked by the public to do so.

A country where crime can never go UNPUNISHED,, no matter how little or big or how cloaked or coded the crime is, and no matter who committed such crimes.

A country where good deeds are promptly and handsomely rewarded.

And so on.

gidgiddy:
The stupiduty of the Nigerian security forces is just incredible. A man is running a bar/eating place, you hear that criminals went there to eat and drink, then you go there to destroy the place, beat up the owner and arrest him!

What sort if madness is that? What sort lawlessness is this? Is it the owners duty to be looking into who comes to drink and eat at his place of business? Why destroy the mans livelihood and treat him this way?

The security forces dont seem to realise that each time they brutalise and treat innocent people this way, they are only increasing insecurity because not only are they wasting precious resources chasing shadows while the criminals remain out there, they also destroy public confidence and trust in them
You see am naaa.
To them now, they are working, because they arrested a “soft-target”.
..
But in reality, they just caused more havoc.
..
..
Later now, someone will come to preach to me about “change begins with me”.
The little that the barman was doing for the good of the people just got badly rubbished.
Just because the system is so faulty.
..
Change can only begin with me when the system is good
