Vikkie14: I can't agree less with you. Politics has bedeviled and beclouded their sense of reasoning.
Imagine if we've left Mr President deregulate/remove subsidy from oil sector in 2012, WE WON'T BE IN THIS MESS OF "FUEL SCARCITY" TODAY. but, every PROGRESS have been politicised. The partial subsidy removal, what was it used for? Even after the partial removal one would expect the refineries to be fixed but we are still back to square one. |

BlackHuman: - Well, NOI/federal Govt has to share in the blame....If this was happening in 1 to 5 states, i'd blame only the State-Govts but with 20+states owing then something is definitely wrong fundamentally...federally. You can't completely absorb the federal Govt from this mess. Afterall, it too has been owing. There is a short fall of about 40% in the allocation to each state, but that doesn't justify state owing salaries especially the oil producing states. |

Built2last: you dont get it.
we have had countless investors come arround and asses our oil sector but run because the profit is not guaranteed with subsidy. the rush in telcom sector will be childs play compared to what will happen when subsidy is totally removed.
it may go as high as 220 per liter but may later fall to as low as 40 naira a liter Remove subsidy 1001 times, it still won't work until there is a total reform in the oil sector. |
Politics › Re: PENGASSAN, NUPENG Begin Strike by blym4real: 6:32pm On May 21, 2015 |
Built2last: the cabal will enjoy the prices for just two years...is it not better to sacrifice it now than bury our entire future in less than 30 people. they will continue to enjoy it except sanity is brought into the sector. Oil sector is not like the telecommunication sector. |
Politics › Re: PENGASSAN, NUPENG Begin Strike by blym4real: 6:21pm On May 21, 2015 |
Built2last: I totally supported GEJ when he removed this subsidy in 2012
and i will support GMB to remove it. nonsense
we cant be held to ransome by some greedy vampires who think they are doing us a favour.
let petrol rise to 200 naira and see how investors will flood the market.
giving us the right to choice.
if subsidy is removed, competition will crash the market in less than two years.
why cant we make the sacrifice now and enjoy later but NO, we remain the most impatient people. there is nothing to enjoy in the removal of subsidy because the cabal will still be the one to enjoy the high prices. The oil sector is very different from the telecommunication sector. |

perryy: You are evil for supporting evil. It is alright, arm robbers are being bred by these banks. Hey dude, am not evil, you can't solve a deep rooted problem by just scratching the surface, you have to start from the foundation which is the government. You are clamouring for increase in wages in private companies when the government pay even less. The national minimum wage is 18k, you didn't see anything wrong in that even when you are paying tax to the government but you are clamouring against private companies. A level 15 graduate worker(about 30 years in service) in kwara state civil service earn 110k-120k. Nobody is talking about that, the foundation of the problem is with the government. |

bushdoc9919: All good ideas....that will lead to the removal of the government.
Because unfortunately due to our oil dependent economy., we do not have a vibrant private sector that would have absorbed all them sacked staff.
(Yes JJ Rawlings did it in the 1980's in Ghana...and people suffered. But the economy improved!).
As for removing the subsidy....it is a good idea....but sadly most Nigerians only see the price at the pump....not the long term savings that would have been made.
Your ideas are good......but this is Nigeria.Good does not work here at all. The partial removal, what have they done with it? Where are the public transport buses? Where are the refineries? Even the refineries we have, why have they not been fixed? If you can't answer those questions, don't talk about subsidy removal. |
